Please help me I have a lovebird but both of my lovebird escaped because of a wind storm please help me they are in my backyard and won’t get back in their on home
Congrats on this milestone. Different methods work for different tameness of birds. My Mango goes back to his cage on command by himself which he has been doing for years. For Blueberry by hand and 99% he doesn’t object. For Rainbow, I bring his cage close to the other two cages since his cage’s position is about 6/7 feet away from the other two cages and bring him back on my finger with his favorite toy. Routine is the key. When it’s close to bedtime, just like for kids, give them time to settle down by turning off the music, radio, tv , dimming the lights, sending other humans in the household to other areas of the house or telling them to lower their voices and devices so I start the bedtime routine process with the birds and bedtime is never a problem here. If anything, they go back into the cages to relax for the night before time as they are tired from their daytime activities.
Congratulations! You are a wonderful soul, so kind and generous and loving! Very nice to share your energy. You can see it reflected in your pets' happiness! No wonder you have 50k.
Hi Donna, wonderful videos. I live in Northwest Ohio and our winters are similar to yours .When I see what is obviously an escaped pet bird at my feeders, I'll set a cage outside with millet and if the bird goes into the cage, I will bring it into the house and begin finding the owners. So far, the outcome has been positive for two birds that would not have survived a winter here; a budgie and an african grey. They are both back with their owners. I love birds, especially my cockatiels who go to their cages when they want to sleep (usually on the outside of the cages with newspaper underneath) The doors have not been closed in twelve years, except for vet trips, they are never locked in a cage.
Great tips, I have a naughty parrot. She loves me and I love her but she is very independent and has her own mind. I have never had a bird with the personality difficulties she has.
When it gets dark, my bird sets on the computer screen and goes to sleep. She goes in the cage to eat, but if I approach, she flies out quickly. Any thoughts?
I put my iPad in the cage with a UA-cam channel playing ... a parakeet Video She went back in to hear and be with the other birds ... lol just bought a ladder today . Love your channel ... 🐥 🦉🐥🐦 🐥 lol I saw your phone at the end ...works great !
It is so nice that you recommended the Bird Tricks channel! I have learned a lot about birds from them and enjoy the channel! You are a very sweet person, and I really enjoy your channel also! You have so much common sense and a true love of birds and. animals! Birds are my favorite pets although I do like dogs. Thanks for all the wonderful videos on birds. You have taught me so much! Congratulations on the amount of viewers you have! I can see why! 😉
I always followed method number 2 , I used the dowel perch that came with the cage and just use it as a perch to get them from point A to their cage. I think now that I have a bit more knowledge I think I’m going to use Miller spray and in conjunction with a perch to lure them in.
Thank you so much, I literally was trying to use a fishing net today to catch my love birds. That didn't work 😂 they are smart birds, I'll try this method next.
My two budgies go in at night time on their own. My IRN I cover half his cage, cover half of other half, and he climbs in to his night night perch. lol
I like your parrot videos most. Currently I have 2 pairs of Linnies, one pair actively produces babies which are very much in demand where I live. I also have 2 Eastern Rosellas. A small aquarium with male guppies and a dwarf gourami. Also there's my longtime companion, my blue point Himalayian cat. The later was actually owned by my good friend of Sheilands cattery but when he passed his cat was left to me. Anyway I do enjoy your videos and Facebook page. As I mentioned I especially like info on parrots. Thank you and keep up your great work.
You have a nice pet family. I used to have a Himalayan Cat many years ago, they are beautiful. I also used to have hundreds of guppies and a few Gouramis. Rosellas are beautiful birds
YAY!!!!!!!!!! That is AMAZING! 50,000 Subscribers! HUGE CONGRATULATIONS 💗💗💗 Rio is SO Pretty 💗 Great Tips! Looking forward to Many More Videos!! 💗💗 BIG HUGS!
I am so happy to have found your videos! I have two parakeets that have become to important to me in my senior years. I want to thank you for all the tips and tricks I have learned from you.
CONGRATULATIONS 👍 on your 50K Subscribers !!! Hope you continue to add more...You are truly a loving and caring person. ❤ all your birds 🐤 and animals 🐕🐭🦎🐠 I have certainly learned a lot watching your videos...Keep the video's coming...We all enjoy each one.
Hi Donna, congrats on your 50,000 subscribers and iam sooo proud to be one of them now. I thoroughly enjoy all your videos .I do get a little tearie eyed when I see your precious little Rio and how you and Rio were sooo devoted to each other and I like to think how she has l probably crossed over the RAINNOW BRIDGE and has possibly met my little Ollie girl..You are such a beautiful care giver.Your birdies and other pets are soo lucky to have you.Always enjoy watching and listening to you and learning it’s a real enjoyable experience for me.
Luckily my birb (she is a Kakariki) puts herself to sleep on a regular schedule... although she doesn't sleep in her cage... she sleeps on the shoulder of my shirts that hang beside the head of my bed... so I can hear her little sleepy noises and smol squeaks when she wants me to wake up! ;D
I feel spoiled, I have never had this issue with my parrots lol 100% agree on routine. My birds know when it is 8pm, which = bedtime. Parrot on a proper diet of pellets and veggies makes treat value explode. Good way to train a parrot. Mine will do just about anything for a single millet seed now lol
Way to go 50,000. You have helped this and last year with the training parts of your videos. My bird which is an Indian Ringneck in a lavender color named Violet who is soooooooo spoiled. Thank you so much have a blessed day!
Bought my budgies yesterday and they was scared open the cage today and they where having fun flying around and used to us now, got them back in by putting my hand in front of them and pushing it forward towards the cage door is this a good way
Congratulations. Well done and you deserve many more. Your channel is awesome keep up the great work. I'm happy that I'm 1 out of the 50K subscribers, I definitely recommend this channel. Much respect.
Hi. It would depend on where you keep your canary. If he is in a busy room with lights on or T.V etc then yes you can cover his cage so he can sleep. If he is a dark room with no activity or noise you can leave him uncovered.
YAAAAAYY! Congratulations on getting 50k subscribers! Your videos are so cool and amazing, I like all of them but prefer the bird videos. And yes, BirdTricks is a cool channel, I have been watching them for 6 years now. Well I can't wait for you to reach 60k soon, good luck, and I also can't wait for a new video! Have a good day!
CONGRATULATIONS! I'm interested in all of your pets. Can u pls make more videos of your hamster? It is so cute! Same with your birds dogs fish rabbits ☺
I have 14 parrots, 5 guinea pigs, 2 dogs, 2 hamsters, and 2 rabbits. Most of my birds are cage free. Wish they were as tame as yours are but unfortunately most of mine came from homes that didn't interact with them positively.
I enjoy your bird videos. I am educating myself about birds because someday, I would like to get a budgie. I think they are adorable (I fell in love with little Disco on UA-cam) and hope to get one that will talk. But if not I will still love it. We had a large green parrot that talked when I was very small. Then later a cocktail named Petey. Thanks for all the info!👍😁💕
Congrats! I like your birds. I need to check out you bunny videos. I have 2 that freerange my home. I never clean up a mess. They potty trained themselves!
That's great they free range your home, mine are on my lower level and are out in the evenings, they use the litter box as well. Here is my rabbit's playlist My Rabbits Clover and Daisy | My Rescued Rabbits: ua-cam.com/play/PL6uTBIckTWD5uJHbMco8FIidiJC2yz48D.html
Strangely enough getting pet birds to cooperate is very similar to getting pet cats to cooperate. Up to and including continuing the positive stuff once they're in place so they don't figure out that they got herded.
My bird was fine with its cage until today when I changed a couple things around to fit a new toy in as she gets pretty bored. She’s absolutely terrified of her new perch, will not go anywhere near the cage when it’s in there and is for the most part not happy in the cage and will stress so much holding onto the bars until I let her out. She had ages of outside time, but I need to go from time to time. Any tips on familiarising her with the perch and get her to be more calm in the cage?
Hi! Thank you! I made a video a while ago on me cleaning my bird room. Here it is as it's similar to how I clean it today but may make a new video of cleaning my bird room soon. ua-cam.com/video/-FpOfB2Cn6c/v-deo.html
Could you please do a video on Cockatiel and their nightfrights. Like what you do to calm them down, prevent night frights, how you make them comfortable in their space.
Thank u so much for making this video!!! It's extremely helpful as I have two Indian ringnecks and one of them is really easy to get back in but the other one isn't. I'm going to buy a clicker and some sort of wooden stick so I can try target training❤
So sorry. Give her time to grieve and take the nest box away to let her rest. Let her out of the cage to fly and give some new toys to keep her occupied.
I also love birdtricks! Very good and simplified training advice! Also subscribed to your channel though, so I can access a variety of different advice! Thank you for your help
I am soon getting a Senegal parrot, and many websites I have seen all have different cage size recommendations- what do you say is an ideal cage size? I want to be sure 👌
Hi, the bigger the better is always best but if they are out all day you can get a smaller one. My Senegal's cage is 25" wide by 25" deep, not sure how high. Senegal's don't move around much and are more sedate than other birds so minimum is 25" by 25"
Can you make a gaming video? Or Can you make a video on cheap cuddly birds other than budgies? I love your channel ❤️. Congrats on 50k You deserve 10 mil. Your work and effort is priceless!!
👏👏congrats on all your subbies.. I love your channel .. I’m mostly interested in your budgie videos ... what size pedi perch for budgies would you recommend? I have 5 budgies..
Hi, thank you. I am glad you love my channel. I recommend the extra small or the mini pedi perch like this one amzn.to/2YQCBnz Remember to place it lower in the cage so your budgie will only use it periodically and not as a sleep perch as it can cause problems with the foot pads if your budgie uses it too much. I have a video on Bumblefoot that you can watch. ua-cam.com/video/niUaEs4HPb4/v-deo.html
Congrats on all those subscribers! That's sooo awesome!! I would love to see a video on taming a parakeet. My lil guy who I have for about a month now is about 4 months old, maybe 5, and he's sooo afraid of me putting my hand in to let him out. Since I really don't have a safe place like your bird room to let him out, I want to tame him so he'll stick with me like my cockatiel does. That way he gets to enjoy life outside his cage and I would eventually love for him to be able to hang out with my 'tiel. He is getting used to my voice when I close him up at night & whenever I pop over to talk to him, but hands terrify him & cleaning him out always makes me feel bad as I hate scaring him. Thanks!
Congratulations on your membership subs, as I'm watching this it's at 106k! I have a question that you may have an opinion on....... I have a Barraband parakeet called Nozzy (I've described him before on your pages) and, after nearly 2 years, I'm wondering if I'm doing the right thing come his bedtime. He normally climbs into his cage at the same time each night and settles on his ''sleeping'' perch. Once I see that his head his tucked away I will put a bed sheet over his cage to keep the light off him. His cage is in an alcove adjoining the kitchen so its normally lit indirectly. When I do this he will often start to chirp quietly and I can't tell if the sheet is upsetting him or its just him settling down. Do you have any ideas please? I obviously don't want to cause him distress but I'm also worried about him losing sleep due to disturbances as my wife and I move about the house.
Hi, thank you 😊. It's hard to say what he is feeling for sure, however in my experience I think he is content and singing himself to sleep. If he waa unhappy he would possibly start climbing the bars, flapping his wings and scream.
Thank you for watching my videos and becoming a subscriber, it means a lot to me.

Thank you and that great the ladder works 😊
Congrats! I love your channel!! 💕
Enjoy your videos, especially your birds and dogs. I have parrots and dogs too.
Hi, what kind of parrots and dogs do you have?
I feel spoiled, I have never had this issue with my parrots lol 100% agree on routine. My birds know when it is 8pm, which = bedtime.
Parrot on a proper diet of pellets and veggies makes treat value explode. Good way to train a parrot. Mine will do just about anything for a single millet seed now lol
Oh I love the birds the most, but there all great!
i love your channel so much so educational😊
Thank u so much for making this video
i hang on your every word in your bird videos. You have helped me lots - have watched some of them at least 4 times for different references :)

hello I love your videos I just got a canary and I am wondering at bedtime is it important to cover the cage
Hi. It would depend on where you keep your canary. If he is in a busy room with lights on or T.V etc then yes you can cover his cage so he can sleep.
If he is a dark room with no activity or noise you can leave him uncovered.
Congrats! You give great advice and are always willing to help.
Congrats 50k

@@Loveofpets Awww I'm very sorry❤
mine know when I say bedtime, they go in, but sometimes they don't so I turn off the lights and put a treat in the cage, usu. an almond in the shell.
Once I start turning off the light there like oh hell no I’m going home 😂
I point with my finger at the door cage and ask them to go inside and make sure you have a series tone . It works for me sometimes
That's great!

I’ve only had my bird for 5 days and I’ve just seen this video. I have just put a plastic square bowl for my buggie.
Thanks!
Hi, thank you! Here is a video of me taming my baby budgies ua-cam.com/video/Wwi2J-x3bE4/v-deo.html

@@Loveofpets Thanks for reassuring me. There is certainly no flapping or screaming 🙂
