It's implied that Cassian isn't dead John left the knife in his heart and told him if he removes it he will die giving him the chance to get somewhere to get it taken care of because he respected Cassian. With Rose he didn't leave that choice he stabbed her and immediately removed it showing the difference in feelings between the two. One of the MANY things I like story wise from this movie.
Yeah, John Wick doesn't really kill those he respects, if he can avoid it. There was the bodyguard in the first film who he had a pleasant conversation with, and the guard gave John Wick information about who was inside the club, in code, and John Wick let him go.
As a sequel, this movie shows a lot of love and fan service to the first movie. ESPECIALLY when you see John find a pencil during the rampage of assassins after him 😁
in a bunch of interview Keanu makes sure to specify that he doesn't do stunts.. he did all of the action scenes, like fighting, running... but stunt scenes he still left to his stunt team to manage (like getting hit by a car, falling from buildings). He really wanted to make it clear that he isn't a stunt man which I love that he doesn't take credit for things that he knows he isn't trained to do.
@@allnitedj72 I guess it depends how you define a stunt! I suspect all his scenes aren't 'dangerous', thus he doesn't consider them stunts. If that makes sense? Still impressive. Most actors are barely even in fight choreography.
It sounded like you may not have noticed he didn't kill Cassian, he kept the knife in so he could have it removed at the hospital and survive the wound. In the moment he is fighting Rose he took the blade out so she would bleed out.
He started learning marksmanship for the Matrix movies, and took it to another level for these movies. There are videos of him training and he is legitimately nasty with a gun.
Reeves is legitimately dangerous now. He’s put in a level of training that most of the US Tier 1 operatives do (at least what I’ve personally experienced over 21 years of service). Granted, he may not have the same mindset needed to be successful in the field (can’t really tell that unless they live the actual life) but it doesn’t take away from his impressive work and skill. I liked that you took notice of the similarities between the ways he ended his fight with Cassian and the way he ended his fight with the mute/deaf Assassin but there was a detail that made all the difference. I just watched the first reaction a couple days ago and I was wondering if you would watch these two before Chapter 4 and I'm glad! They're all a lot of fun
Great reaction! Looking forward to 3. I found a new reactor recently, a young lady named Whimsory. Her reactions remind me a lot of Natalie, she's almost like a Natalie Gold Mini Me.😄
28:18 You’ll be glad to know that Cassian is actually alive. John stuck the knife in a specific place where Cassian could leave it in and go to the hospital to get medical help, or keep fighting and risk it getting dislodged and bleed to death. He left it in and let John leave.
The actor who played the "sommelier" is actually a comedian from London, though I forget his name. In fact, this man had never fired or even held a gun in his entire career, so when he was booked for this movie, they flew him to the set and had to teach him EVERYTHING about guns in under four hours.
This movie should have been Oscar-nominated for the Dan Laustsen's cinematography. Alas, he was actually nominated that year for THE SHAPE OF WATER. he may have even won, I can't remember. Or was it Deakins? Anyway, this movie is absolutely gorgeous.
Again, this movie was fantastic and I loved watching it for the first time with Natalie...but her dogs being cute and stretching in the background really helped break it up when things got really intense. And they were such an oddly wholesome addition to such a violent movie!
Fun Fact: the man John meets at 12:55 is played by Franco Nero. He was the original Django from which Django Unchained was based off. He even cameos in that film. In his scene Django says to him "The D is silent" to which Nero replies "I know".
i have a feeling cassian isnt dead - critically wounded - gave him an out by keeping the knife in to stay alive for how ever short that could be. At least thats what i would like to believe. I thought the story lawerence fishburne told about the scar on his neck hinted that even though the wound can be fatal that john wick gave him that chance to survive. He didnt give that same courtesy to ruby rose's character by pulling the knife out ensuring she dies right there.
The line about having choice between Keanu and Lawrence Fishburne is a call back to their Matrix conversations dealing with choice vs fate. Just like in the 1st John Wick he say "I need guns, lots of guns"
@@ADifferentVibe before Matrix Resurrections there was a pop culture theory that stated that John Wick was Neon's reality in the next version of the Matrix, and that the John Wick saga should end with Neo waking up on Matrix Resurrections.
Loving your reactions. Don't give up on this series. No spoilers, but the ride is pretty worth taking. Saw an interview with one of the guys who trains Keanu. He said that he put in huge amounts of time and is one of the best in hollywood as far as skill handling weapons now. There is another actor in the franchise who spent many, many hours training as well. Won't say who, but I would keep watching. ; ))
I remember reading an interview with Keanu where he said that there is 'ending' in mind for the series, they plan on making more until they can't anymore (whether the studio stops giving them money, he isn't capable of continuing, whatever).
Not only are they working on a fourth one, but they are also working on a tv series for stars based on the continental telling how a young Winston gains control of the continental NYC
I literally walked into the theater to watch John Wick 3 minutes after watching John Wick 2 for the first time that same day. It was a wild ride that convinced me every movie in the franchise would be better than the last and that they could continue the story indefinitely if they wanted.
John actually killed Ares because for Cassian he at least left the blade in so Cassian had a higher chance of surviving, but for Ares, he pulled the knife out, drastically decreasing her survivablity rate. Small but noticeable change.
Keanu trained with Taryn tactical for his gun skills practicing for months for john wick … he also brushed up on his fighting skills .. although he new how to fight from the matrix
26:31 Keanu was in Point Break, Speed, and The Matrix, so he had a lot of experience with guns prior to playing John Wick. But this is a whole new level.
There are a lot of behind the scenes YT stuff on Keanu training with firearms and unarmed combat in order to look natural and authentic (although the action is pretty far-fetched and not realistic, but he sells the fantasy so well thanks to this dedication).
Definitely you should watch the next one. Also watch the training videos that show how Keanu learnt to use the weapons correctly and the practice he put into those action sequences.
Keanu was good with guns but trained a bunch for this. He's also a long-time BJJ guy. If you look up "Keanu Reeves Three Gun Challenge" you can find him actually running drills with real guns.
Keanu is one of the most versatile actors out there in a stoic way, get my drift? He doesn't mess around; he trains hard for everything he does. This was a good installment, can't wait for your reaction to part 3, then part 4 whenever it will hit those services.
Fun movie trivia: the mirror art exhibit fight sequence was an homage to the final fight in the Bruce Lee martial arts film Enter the Dragon, one of the most iconic action films of all time.
On the Pope question - Julius I think wasn't particularly concerned about it, just it was a 'Who's a big enough target to warrant John Wick coming out of retirement?' The thought of it being a High Table appointee wasn't even considered - it's just not done.
To answer your question, yes, Keanu knows how to handle a gun. He is professionally trained and you can even watch UA-cam videos of him running gun range courses. He is amazing with a gun in real life as well as in the movie!
People overlook it, but it's very much implied the car meant as much to John as Daisy. Especially in Helen's letter. "You need something to love, and no, John, the car doesn't count."
Natalie, if you like John Wick you will absolutely love "The Equalizer" with Denzel Washington! It's a kinda similar story but told in a different way. They are both perfectly choreographed. Oh did I mention that there's also a John Wick: Chapter 3? Chapter 4 will be coming to the movie theatres in spring! The Equalizer has also a second part and part three comes to the theatres in mid-August of this year. Here is some sad news, John Wick: Chapter 4 will be the last part, for Keanu Reeves. So he said...
Such a great film. Must watch 3 and yes there's a 4 AND 2 more things building off this. A prequel series called The Continental with you Winston and Ballerina starring Ana De Armas but don't look that up before watching 3. It is coming out later but set between 3 and 4. Side note: check out Atomic Blonde starring Charlize Theron based on a graphic novel. Bad. Ass. One fight scene in particular will leave your speechless, jaw dropped and she did most of her own stunts.
Love the wick series but the train station scene where they are both shooting at each other and no one notices drives me insane. Suppressors reduce the noise not make it literally silent lmao. Not to mention the fact Cassius has a compensator not a suppressor 😅
There's one part of this movie they never explained. Why was the Italian Continental boss _so_ worried about Wick going after the Pope? What has the Pope done that Wick going after him was even a possibility?!
YES to more Keanu Reeves!!! May I suggest a couple of movies? River’s Edge, The Prince of Pennsylvania, Dangerous Liasons, Parenthood, I Love You To Death, Point Break, My Own Private Idaho, Dracula, Much Ado About Nothing, SPEED, Johnny Mnemonic, A Walk In The Clouds, Constantine.
Fun watch, as always! I love the way this ends, because if they never did any more JOHN WICK movies, it's a perfect ending: John, on the run, forever. Also: -As far as practicing with guns, Keanu DID star in four MATRIX movies, soooo... he's "familiar" with firearms. 😁 -The Sommelier, played by Peter Serafinowicz, besides being AWESOME here, was in the first GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, as part of the Nova Corp with the line, "What a bunch of a-holes. -When getting fitted with his suit, the tailor is the actual Costumer Designer for JOHN WICK 1-3, Luca Mosca. -Julius, played by Franco Nero, was in DJANGO UNCHAINED in the "The D is silent" scene... because he DID play Django in prior films. (Since you'd mentioned you'd recently seen it) -This now has a SECOND actor from THE MATRIX films (the Doc in #1 was the Keymaker-which REALLY makes me wonder if John Wick is just Neo in one of the alternate versions of the Matrix simulation) ON TO CHAPTER 3 And CHAPTER 4 premieres in theaters in March!
Your awesome!! I started following immediately after you called everyone golden nuggets. I've watched like five of your videos in a few hours. Keep them coming.
The sommelier with the amazing voice is Peter Serafinowicz, the (very brief) voice of Darth Maul in Star Wars Episode 1, Shaun's annoyed housemate in Shaun of the Dead, and a Nova Corps officer in Guardians of the Galaxy. There's a gag in the British sitcom Black Books where he gets a woman off over the phone with his voice alone.
This is the movie where we learn that in the JW universe being an assassin is basically like being an Uber driver. It's gig work you get alerts for over the phone.
You were so close with the cassian/ares parallel (apparently thats the mute assassins name, ares). She stabbed both of them in the same place, but he respected cassian enough to leave the blade in so he didn't bleed out immediately, so he could still be alive. However, he immediately pulled the blade out of Ares' chest, letting her bleed out and die, because she's working and protecting Santino, and he doesn't have the respect for her that he has for Cassian. Cassian had a prerogative to try and kill John, because he was bound to Santino's sister, whom John killed, and John respects that prerogative, and chooses not to kill Cassian because they both understand they're just doing their jobs
I'm from Rome and I have to say I'm pretty surprised by the amount of movies shot here in the last years, Fast & Furious, Mission Impossible, John Wick. All actors usually stay in "De Russie" hotel, 1 block from my house. I'm gonna share this little story about me and The Keanu. During the day the hotel is assaulted by fans, understandably. I was going home from the opposite direction at about 2 AM, and there was Keanu searching his pockets for a lighter, so I approached and handed my own just going " Mr. Reeves, need a light?" "I do actually" "Ok, but on the condition you keep it, and I'm gonna smoke a cigarette with you." He accepted and we just had a smoke in front of the hotel, no autograph no damn selfie, just a 5 minutes chillin with The Keanu. Honest to God that was 5 minutes of awesomeness.
Keanu trained in fire arms at a place called Taran Tactical. I've had some friends that that have trained there. It's a good course to learn how to shoot the way Keanu shoots. CQC drill (close quarters combat), speed, tactical and emergency reloading drills, (he does mostly speed and emergency reloads in the franchise.) He learned how to draw a firearm faster and have better time on targets. Check out the UA-cam video of him training for John wick. He's also loved and has had a passion for jiu-jitsu and judo for quite sometime.
It's implied that Cassian isn't dead John left the knife in his heart and told him if he removes it he will die giving him the chance to get somewhere to get it taken care of because he respected Cassian. I just watched the first reaction a couple days ago and I was wondering if you would watch these two before Chapter 4 and I'm glad! They're all a lot of fun
Where we got this season on which platform??
Great reaction! Looking forward to 3. I found a new reactor recently, a young lady named Whimsory. Her reactions remind me a lot of Natalie, she's almost like a Natalie Gold Mini Me.😄
Natalie you singing Sinatra was amazingly beautiful. I was so surprised I almost stopped chewing. Your voice is angelic😢
Atomic Blonde is also a great action movie, directed by one of the co-directors of the first John Wick movie.
I second this nomination! Atomic Blonde is a rollercoaster ride! Good music score to boot.
One if my favorite movies ever. The soundtrack is amazing
Omg im so happy that you’re watching this franchise ❤
I like the reunions in this film: Peter Stomare from Constantine (2005) & Laurence Fishburne from the Matrix trilogy.
You HAVE to watch the 3rd one! It picks up right where the 2nd one left off, the fight choreography is amazing and the world building is stellar!!
i have a feeling cassian isnt dead - critically wounded - gave him an out by keeping the knife in to stay alive for how ever short that could be. At least thats what i would like to believe. I thought the story lawerence fishburne told about the scar on his neck hinted that even though the wound can be fatal that john wick gave him that chance to survive. He didnt give that same courtesy to ruby rose's character by pulling the knife out ensuring she dies right there.
Such a good sequel that somehow brought the same unpredictability as the first one
LOVE your personality, so much fun watching these movies again with you.....can't wait to see you react to part 3!!!!!!!!
The line about having choice between Keanu and Lawrence Fishburne is a call back to their Matrix conversations dealing with choice vs fate. Just like in the 1st John Wick he say "I need guns, lots of guns"
Honestly, John Wick series > Matrix series
High five to the *_"Assassination Vacation"_* posted edit. That got a good laugh out of me.
The world building in john wick 2 and 3 is incredible. These movies get better and better with each one
No just bad and just shooting
Meh.. I feel as though the first is still the best.
@@Bookerjj well yeah I just mean in terms of world building and action I think they get better and better but john wick 1 is kinda a classic
JW3 was too out there for me. Action scenes were too over the top and unrealistic and the writing was really sloppy.
And fourth one is on its way💪
Keanu trained with Taryn tactical for his gun skills practicing for months for john wick … he also brushed up on his fighting skills .. although he new how to fight from the matrix
26:31 Keanu was in Point Break, Speed, and The Matrix, so he had a lot of experience with guns prior to playing John Wick. But this is a whole new level.
I love these movies so much. It's just a good action movie with no super complicated plot, it's just so much fun!
Love the reaction! Next one will be even better, can't wait! 👌😊
I would love to see Natalia and Nat in the same room doing a reaction. Could we make that happen?
There are a lot of behind the scenes YT stuff on Keanu training with firearms and unarmed combat in order to look natural and authentic (although the action is pretty far-fetched and not realistic, but he sells the fantasy so well thanks to this dedication).
"But what kind of man would I be if I didn't avenge my sister's murder."
Bruh... That will never get old. The audacity...🤣
Great reaction as usual!
The 3rd is great too, with more world-building and new types of fights. Well worth watching and reacting to!
Nat: “He could sell me a gun just with his accent”
The Sommelier: *Kitchen Gun*
Keanu is one of the most versatile actors out there in a stoic way, get my drift? He doesn't mess around; he trains hard for everything he does. This was a good installment, can't wait for your reaction to part 3, then part 4 whenever it will hit those services.
Fun movie trivia: the mirror art exhibit fight sequence was an homage to the final fight in the Bruce Lee martial arts film Enter the Dragon, one of the most iconic action films of all time.
On the Pope question - Julius I think wasn't particularly concerned about it, just it was a 'Who's a big enough target to warrant John Wick coming out of retirement?' The thought of it being a High Table appointee wasn't even considered - it's just not done.
please you have to watch the third movie its definately the best one
!!!
To answer your question, yes, Keanu knows how to handle a gun. He is professionally trained and you can even watch UA-cam videos of him running gun range courses. He is amazing with a gun in real life as well as in the movie!
I saw this in the theater. When the pencil kill happened, literally everyone, myself included, just went “OOOOOOOOHHHHHH….” Was an awesome experience!
I think 2 is my favorite. The first and third ones had underwhelming endings IMO, although they had some of the better individual actions sequences.
Chapter 4, comes out in March 22-24 ish. Chapter 5 is currently being made.
The doggos on the couch in the background is like The Ghost And The Darkness.
(Which is a film you should see sometime.)
There's one part of this movie they never explained. Why was the Italian Continental boss _so_ worried about Wick going after the Pope? What has the Pope done that Wick going after him was even a possibility?!
YES to more Keanu Reeves!!! May I suggest a couple of movies?
River’s Edge,
The Prince of Pennsylvania,
Dangerous Liasons,
Parenthood,
I Love You To Death,
Point Break,
My Own Private Idaho,
Dracula,
Much Ado About Nothing,
SPEED,
Johnny Mnemonic,
A Walk In The Clouds,
Constantine.
Yes! Please watch Chapter 3 on the channel! 🙏🏼
Fun watch, as always!
I love the way this ends, because if they never did any more JOHN WICK movies, it's a perfect ending: John, on the run, forever.
Also:
-As far as practicing with guns, Keanu DID star in four MATRIX movies, soooo... he's "familiar" with firearms. 😁
-The Sommelier, played by Peter Serafinowicz, besides being AWESOME here, was in the first GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, as part of the Nova Corp with the line, "What a bunch of a-holes.
(Since you'd mentioned you'd recently seen it)
-This now has a SECOND actor from THE MATRIX films (the Doc in #1 was the Keymaker-which REALLY makes me wonder if John Wick is just Neo in one of the alternate versions of the Matrix simulation)
ON TO CHAPTER 3
And CHAPTER 4 premieres in theaters in March!
The car in the beginning was not going to start, then it remembers it is John Wick's car. Even a car knows not to say no to Mr. Wick.
Some cars have suicide doors, John Wick's car has homicide doors.
Fun fact: the guy who supplies Keanu with his suit and weapons voiced Darth Maul in SW Ep1. Peter Serafinowicz
You definitely NEED to see the third one. There is action choreography gun fight scenes with a dog!!
CANT WAIT FOR 3! Its my favorite so far!
