Seeing your excitement for this one has me infinitely more excited to see what you think of 4. I do think you'd love it, and it's very nearly the best one of these.
I was a police officer for a couple years (before I lost my leg in an off duty motorcycle accident) and while I was, one of my friends asked if I wanted to meet him at a park around 0200hrs to take a couple bites from his dog, which was a Belgian Malinois. Watching that dog run at me with clear intent to bite me in his eyes was truly scary as hell, and even with the thick bite sleeve on the sheer pressure of the dog bite hurt. During the first bite the first thought in my head after "WOW! That hurts!" was "Thank God I never fought the cops...".
The off-camera-handler issue is often so glaringly obvious to those of us familiar with dog behavior. It's nice to not have that same distraction here to pull us out of the "suspension of disbelief."
@@Latinofire202 Yeah. Still, all good fun. Similarly, JW2 was a similar theatre experience. Sadly, was super busy when part 4 came out and the time I managed to get to watch it was 2pm in the afternoon. Still some group reactions in the theatre, but there wasn't that many that early on a weekday.
I wished The Crow: Stairway to Heaven was a better series because he felt right as a spiritual successor to Brandon Lee. Though it was a low bar to clear, at least the show was better than all the cash-grab sequels.
This video's thumbnail is awesome😄Cameron, your animated Nattie musing over her escape plan was just the best 😂 Hundreds of humans die in this movie, but hurt the animals and Nattie will be after you like a shot 😊
The most revealing line in the flick was when Halle Barry said "I didn't kill you, I just shot you".... Forshadowing! haha John and Winston knew what they were doing.
So excited for the 4th film, each time you think they can't make the movies more over the top they're just like "ha, you thought". (Also, was great meeting you the other day!)
Crying Freeman is a cult classic and main actor is mark dacascos(the weird "badguy"). Anyone who grow up in the 90's knew who stallone, van damme, arnold, dolph, chuck norris, mark dacascos etc...he is a great martial artist, but an american, jet li and jackie chan were mosre known back then, but mark dacascos is awesome
Natalie, to a certain degree, you are correct about one attacking at a time, but I have actually seen it first hand. I've been fencing for over 40 years now, there was a time in my 20's where our fencing class was done with what needed doing and our Master, had us go up against each other in teams. I got lucky and was on the winning side all four times. He then had the other twelve fencers go up against myself. One hit (like a puncture attack) would be counted as a kill on valid target (basically front and back of body, no legs, arms, or head counted). I grabbed a second foil (call it a puncturing sword if you like), and waited for them to rush me. They came at me, one at a time at first, then in two's. They were down to six when they surrounded me against a wall. Yet, they kept attacking in no more than two at a time. When they were down to three, I saw I was in trouble (they realized they had to attack together). I swept my blade across them, tumbled past (fell on my ass....and they just stood there) I got up and managed to take out two of them before the last man hit me in the rib. Not exactly a John Wick moment but it shows that a pack will, in many cases, not attack together (especially if they think they can do it on their own). Love your reactions to everything I've seen. Thank you for giving me a second chance to see these movies for the first time again.
Mark DeCascos is the actor for the weird and funny villain. It was such a surprise to see him in the film considering I grew up watching Iron Chef America and only knew him as the Chairman in that show.
Putting the book back on the shelf helps keep it low key. What should be done when using a book in the library is leave it on a cart or at least on the desk so book usage can be tracked when reshelved. Used to work in libraries.
Oh, snap. I totally forgot that protocol. And to think I used to be a library rat back in the day. (Homebrew campaign worlds don't research themselves!)
FUN FACT -- John Wick building that revolver is an ode to Tuco's scene in 'The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly' when he got back from the desert and built his gun to go after Blondie.
As a former librarian, I was so angry to see him reshelve the book. Leave it out on a table so it be picked up and counted as "internal use" for the library stats.
The actor you liked so much but didn’t want to is named Decascos. His mother and father were VERY famous in the martial arts community in the 70’s and 80’s. He’s been training since he was a child.
Sushi Guy is Mark Decascos, legit martial artist turned actor, he played The Crow on the tv show in the 1990s because he fights in the same style as Bruce and Brandon Lee. He's also a trained sushi chef, cooking is a passion for him, dude even hosted Iron Chef: America for a few years, a cooking competition show with mystery ingredients based on the Japanese Iron Chef.
Halle Berry was a welcome addition to the franchise. I love Sophia and the dogs. Like a video game character you want on your team. These movies are more fun when John has a resourceful sidekick.
great reaction! i’m glad i watched this as i’m getting prepared to watch the fourth one later this month. i loved your intro about “no dogs better die” and then the dogs were important characters in the movie (and the horses had key cameos). could we be getting a reaction to andor (2022) sometime in the future? it’s star wars (kinda), it’s got a lot of i interesting themes that, imho, are an adult take on the rebellion’s struggle against tyranny and elevate star wars to being more applicable to our everyday lives.. i really think you’d love it.
As someone who has trained dogs in bite work, even wearing a bite sleeve it still hurts a bit if the dog gets a good grip on you, and it’s worse when they barely get you and they pinch you through the sleeve. When they’re young pups they can’t really bite enough of the sleeve to get your arm, but once they’re bigger you really start to feel that bite pressure through the sleeve even though their teeth aren’t able to get you. And it’s a hell of a workout too trying to resist a dog in bite work. Even a 50-60lb dog will start to wear you out after a handful of bites. It’s so much fun though and the dogs absolutely love it. My 70lb Czech GSD took down a 240lb guy in a full bite suit while practicing self protection work in our training class. She latched on and dragged him to the ground even though he was fighting to stay on his feet and wasn’t meant to go down. There’s a reason why we call them missiles😂 I miss doing bite work with my dogs, and especially with puppies. It’s an absolute blast and it’s absolutely adorable watching the puppies try to act all tough like the big dogs. That said, I’ve only ever once seen a pair of dogs working together like the one’s in this movie did, and it was absolutely incredible to witness. They were two pups from the same litter who had been trained since they were pups to work together in bite work and everything else they did. The woman who owned them and raised them would say the word and they’d launch, one going after a leg and the other after an arm on the opposite side, and they’d take down the target together. Once the target was down the lady would say the word and the dogs would let go and back up a couple steps and just watch the target. They were two of the most well trained and disciplined dogs I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen individual dogs with better/more training and discipline, but never a pair that worked together like that. I miss doing those private training classes and getting to see all kinds of different dogs with all different kinds of owners. It was so much fun and the dogs loved it.
Great reaction. John Wick is one of my favorite franchises. And as to your question, there are stables near Central Park to take care of the horses from the carriage rides. The police also maintain a small stable for their horses though I'm not sure where the police stables are.
Actually, from a practical point, everyone rushing a trained fighter at the same time is a really terrible idea. Yes, against your average guy, it'll work 99% of the time, but John is certainly not the average. Coordinated attacks from flanked positions are better, because they force the person you're fighting to divide attention. The essential idea is to keep him reactive, until he tires or leaves an exploitable opening. Meanwhile, the lone fighter against multiples, if properly trained, and executing properly, is working to keep multiple opponents attacking from the same essential angle, minimizing the area they have to protect, and use his opponents to foul up their own attacks, which IS what John does. His other main tactic is to break up the numbers, cutting them down.
The thing with the horse bucking, I've never got one to buck with a slap, but horses have a twitch nerve in the withers. If you kick or squeeze it, they will buck pretty much every time. That's why rodeo's use a wither strap for the bucking broncos.
Zero (Mark Dacascos) was great fun. His weird fanboy energy combined with being genuinely creepy at times gave him this energy that contrasted really nicely with Keanu's. Fun character.
Unfortunately Santino was still under the rules when he was killed so basically John was owned by a “Marker” which means John would have to do anything the owner of the Marker tells him to do, so killing Santino on Continental grounds including being a member of the “High Table” automatically should have John killed on the spot. Fun Fact: Sī vīs pācem, parā bellum is a Latin adage translated as "If you want peace, prepare for war". Which is used as the title as John is preparing for war against the “High Table” also “Parabellum” is the name of a 9x19mm pistol caliber which is called “9mm Parabellum”
So funny. I saw your John Wick Chapter 2 reaction literally the other day. I was like “I wonder when she’s gonna watch Chapter 3?” and this video pops up lol. Bravo! Can’t wait to see what you think of Chapter 4.
Mark Dacascos (Zero) is an amazing martial artist/actor! You might also know him from The Iron Chef America, as The Chairman! I love the way he plays it in this movie! He really kinda steals the scenes he's in!
i dont think it is an accident that Keanu Reeves has been in at least 2 series of movies that just got better and better with each following one.. it is a credit to his acting skills and commitment to his role in said films. the hours and hours of training he did for these films really shows.
19:49 Agreed, those Belgian Mainois can be vicious. When I was an MP, our K9 section had a mix of Malinois and Shepherds. The Shepherds were bigger, but the Malinois were fast, agressive, and fearless. Halle Berry and her canine co-stars did a great job in this scene.
16:20 this is kinda a trope called "conservation of ninjutsu". Like you see one ninja and you're like damn this is gonna be a tough fight. Two ninjas is gonna be a challenge but you kinda know the hero is gonna win. A dozen ninjas is gonna be a spectacle but you know they're never gonna actually win. The level of Ninjutsu is constant, but split between more and more ninjas until they're no longer a threat.
So the two guys who fought John and kept letting him recover are big fans and are really excited to be fighting him (because they get to see him work first hand). But, they also know he's not at 100% and decide to fight fair (think Westly vs Inigo in the Princess Bride). After they let him recover so many times, they earned his respect so as a professional courtesy he lets them live (and they accept it because they know better)
Both the men and women received ballet lessons in addition to their combat training. Ballet dancers are extremely skilled in body movement, and that's how John Wick is able to do a lot of the things he can do.
The "Iron Chef" was played by the Iron Chef Mark Dacascos. One of the older ones you see at the end is CecepArif Rahman who is one of the last grandmasters of Indonesian martial art pencak silat.
20:36 It's a small detail that most miss, but once you see it it makes a huge difference. Halle Berry trained with those dogs giving them commands and working with them for *months*. So when time came to do the action scenes on set with the dogs, *SHE* was the one giving the orders for the dogs to follow. And the one part it really shows is when she and Keanu are at the back of that SUV and she gets the dogs some water before leaving JW the tiny bit she does. . . The dogs are not looking off camera for their cues, they're looking at *HER*. in every other film with dogs in them the dogs can be seen looking off camera for their cues/commands. Here in JW3 they are looking at Halle Berry and once you see it, that tiny detail is noticeable, telling, and amazing. Also it took 5 dogs for them to cover the roles for the 2 dogs seen on screen. Each one had a different specialty and they were all used to great effect.
He "gave" up his ring finger for 2 reasons. 1 he had to profess his loyalty to the table. And 2 it was a uranium tracking ring. So he could find the headmaster when he wanted to. 38:04
"This guy's such a weirdo." Yes, and I like it better each time I see it! 😁 His "fanboy" schtick rescues him from being just another enemy combatant for John.
Gotta be honest, I still can't get over John's sincere "I get it" line. Keanu's somehow innocent sounding delivery makes it potentially my favorite line in the entire series lmao.
"They all wait for their cues to attack they don't rush at the same time -" Best example of a movie doing a decent job of trying to buck this trend is the original hallway scene in Oldboy. He gets clobbered by multiple people a few times. The scene is still guilty at times of that trope of people waiting to attack but, it probably did the best job of people trying to overwhelm a hero character all at once that I can think of, out of all the movies I've seen where a protagonist is meant to overpower multiple people.
Has Natalie ever made a video where she doesn't say, "I'm not gonna lie"? It seems the youth cannot get enough of this phrase. Could be a good drinking game.
Not sure if it's mentioned, but the "Hall of Mirrors" scene and even this film is a reference to Bruce Lee in "Enter the Dragon", his final film. Especially the little "No" finger wave. A lot of homages.

Same with Zero aka Mark Dacascos, who's been a martial artist and stuntman for decades as well. Of course there are characters who know John's legend - they'd be a fan of him from even before his retirement!
Glad you're finishing this series! Always loving the reactions, keep up the good work! 👍
Amazing how much Halle trained witth the puppies. Most animals in movies are watching their handlers off camera. Whereas here Halle is their handler
The off-camera-handler issue is often so glaringly obvious to those of us familiar with dog behavior. It's nice to not have that same distraction here to pull us out of the "suspension of disbelief."
I loved the dart board as the censor 😂 gives great context to whats happening
The ring finger was to symbolize that he was willing to leave that part of his life behind.
Watching this in theatres was such fun. Lots of "woah" "oh" and laughter. You reaction has the same energy.
And the eye stab. Everyone in my theater either moaned or gasped or moved. It was very uncomfortable lol
@@Latinofire202 lmao I was eating a sandwich during that scene. I'm surprised people watching JW were so put off by it
The Theatre is where John was sent and grew up in after being brought to the US. He’s originally from Romania and his real name is Jardani.
I've met and worked with Mark DeCascos, class act, real good guy of integrity, and very kind to the crew.
I wished The Crow: Stairway to Heaven was a better series because he felt right as a spiritual successor to Brandon Lee. Though it was a low bar to clear, at least the show was better than all the cash-grab sequels.
Paranue Paranue Parana!
This video's thumbnail is awesome😄Cameron, your animated Nattie musing over her escape plan was just the best 😂 Hundreds of humans die in this movie, but hurt the animals and Nattie will be after you like a shot 😊
Animals>Humans always ❤
"the dog is acting?" HAHAHAHA oh natalie, that was perfect
If something we can learn from this movie is that the more healthy move is to move away from grieve and mourning...
The Dart Board and the Eye Exam lmao. Chefs kiss to your editor
The 4th one might possibly be the best one yet. The combination of established and new characters is awesome!
WE'RE SHOOTING IN THE HORSIE STABLES?!?! is by far the best thing you've ever said, Natalie.
FUN FACT -- John Wick building that revolver is an ode to Tuco's scene in 'The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly' when he got back from the desert and built his gun to go after Blondie.
12:19 the eye chart! LOL dude you are hilarious Cameron! 🤣
As a former librarian, I was so angry to see him reshelve the book. Leave it out on a table so it be picked up and counted as "internal use" for the library stats.
I've always wondered if Winston suggested to "put a bullet in my heart" because he was wearing a ballistic vest.
The edits in this during the gore scenes are hilarious🤣 Cameron did his thing🤣
Honestly, my most favorite part of this reaction were the censoring images. 10/10
Yeah, the eye chart killed me. I almost choked I was laughing so hard.
Apparently they had to CG the dogs' tails because they wouldn't stop wagging during filming. They were the bestest boys.
Halle Berry was a welcome addition to the franchise. I love Sophia and the dogs. Like a video game character you want on your team. These movies are more fun when John has a resourceful sidekick.
Cameron did a hell of a job editing this, well done, sir.
Dogs: *Kill someone*
Natalie: Good boy, so cute.
I lost it.
great reaction! i’m glad i watched this as i’m getting prepared to watch the fourth one later this month. i loved your intro about “no dogs better die” and then the dogs were important characters in the movie (and the horses had key cameos).
could we be getting a reaction to andor (2022) sometime in the future? it’s star wars (kinda), it’s got a lot of i interesting themes that, imho, are an adult take on the rebellion’s struggle against tyranny and elevate star wars to being more applicable to our everyday lives.. i really think you’d love it.
11:49
It threw me off so hard when Number One started playing. It took me a second to remember I wasn’t watching anime.
Natalie needs to watch Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure next, especially for vintage Keanu Reeves.
Cameron is a real one for those edits 🏆
Mark Dacascos (Zero) is an amazing martial artist/actor! You might also know him from The Iron Chef America, as The Chairman! I love the way he plays it in this movie! He really kinda steals the scenes he's in!
i dont think it is an accident that Keanu Reeves has been in at least 2 series of movies that just got better and better with each following one.. it is a credit to his acting skills and commitment to his role in said films. the hours and hours of training he did for these films really shows.
I hope you're not referring to The Matrix. 😉
Nat calling Zero the 'sushi guy' is hilarious, considering the fact that he turns people into sushi.
Weird casting, though. Given that he's not Japanese. Maybe 1/4 asian.
@@30noir chinese, fillipino, japanese, this dude all the asians.
Damn these cuts are KILLING ME. I’ll get the Patreon when the 4th reaction comes out.
Yo i love the sushi chef character Mark Dacascos plays here, love everything hes in from “Brotherhood of the Wolf” to “Iron chef” Mark does it all
Thank You Natalie. Keep up to entertain. This was amazing. Cannot wait for John Wick 4 and The Boys season 3 😈
I really can’t wait for Nat to watch the Chapter 4
Both the men and women received ballet lessons in addition to their combat training. Ballet dancers are extremely skilled in body movement, and that's how John Wick is able to do a lot of the things he can do.
The "Iron Chef" was played by the Iron Chef Mark Dacascos. One of the older ones you see at the end is CecepArif Rahman who is one of the last grandmasters of Indonesian martial art pencak silat.
You should see Raid 1 & 2. The guys in that awesome fight scene towards the end are in those movies.
Great job on the editing Cameron
The "crazy" sushi guy is Mark Dacoscos he's done several movies. But he's the host or chairman of the American version of Iron Chef
The funniest/most triggering part of the sponsor ads is... everyone knows a "Natalia" in their life so they're very relatable.
“Is the dog acting?”
😂 no, no, being shot still hurts through a vest
Favorite Line: "$14M bounty on his head half of NYC looking for him, I'd say the odds are about even"
He "gave" up his ring finger for 2 reasons. 1 he had to profess his loyalty to the table. And 2 it was a uranium tracking ring. So he could find the headmaster when he wanted to. 38:04
Your reactions are the main reason why I watch. Big fan
Only John wick would legitimately use a horse as a weapon 😂😂
"This guy's such a weirdo." Yes, and I like it better each time I see it! 😁 His "fanboy" schtick rescues him from being just another enemy combatant for John.
Gotta be honest, I still can't get over John's sincere "I get it" line. Keanu's somehow innocent sounding delivery makes it potentially my favorite line in the entire series lmao.
"They all wait for their cues to attack they don't rush at the same time -"
Best example of a movie doing a decent job of trying to buck this trend is the original hallway scene in Oldboy. He gets clobbered by multiple people a few times. The scene is still guilty at times of that trope of people waiting to attack but, it probably did the best job of people trying to overwhelm a hero character all at once that I can think of, out of all the movies I've seen where a protagonist is meant to overpower multiple people.
Having been in Grand Central Station makes me appreciate the scenes filmed there, much like _Basic Instinct_ and the Transamerica Tower.
Probably the best line in all the John Wick movies, when Sofia shoots Berrada.
Sofia - "He shot my dog."
John - "I get it."
The guy who plays Zero is worth watching in the Hawaii 5-0 reboot as Wo Fat! Great stuff!
Love your reaction! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you Nat, for being one of the few reactors smart enough to see Winston’s plan. To me it seems pretty obvious that Winston didn’t actually want John to die so much so that the adjudicator should have realized it.
