The shot cutting from blowing out the match to the sunrise at 4:11 is an homage to Lawrence of Arabia. They beautifully recreated one of the most famous shots in film history and I geeked out SO hard over it in the theater 😂
I love the movie references made here. My personal favorite was the match/sunrise jump cut at the start, which was a reference to LAWRENCE OF ARABIA (1962), my favorite movie of all time and one whose influence in subsequent movies released after (particularly DUNE and STAR WARS) cannot be underestimated.
Pay attention to Wicks dog. He looks off to the side randomly and takes off. It leaves the possibility that John is not actually dead. Or at least leaves it up for interpretation.
@StevePerez2900 Guess we will never be able to dig up the corpse and find out. That and because it's a made up story. Unless the creator stated be is indeed dead, I will forever choose to believe Mr Wick lives on in peace, finally.
My theatre starting cheering and went absolutely crazy when John killed the Marquis , out of everything that happened in the movie John killing his character got the biggest pop from the audience😂😂
Fun fact: The actress who plays Akari (Koji's daughter), is the singer Rina Sawayama who also does the ending theme "Eye for an Eye" for this movie. It is also her first acting role. Stonks move. Hire a singer for a song and also give her a role in the film. I mean who tf in their right mind would reject an offer to work with Keanu Reeves??😂
This movie is pure gold, you have Marko Zaror, Scott Adkins, Donnie Yen and Keanu giving it all on this awesome combat sequences, just pure action gold. What a great movie.
Could always have a prequel to show us how Jimmy (police officer in first movie) and John became 'acquainted' or how Santino earned a marker or Perkins or Halle Berry etc.
He ran around Killa while on the ground to get more leverage on him while holding him and cause a lot of pain if he had his arm. it’s a legit wrestling/jiujitsu thing. Usually in wrestling it’s done after a sprawl, which is a counter to someone trying to get you to the ground. You apply a lot of downward force and hop back then spin around them really chick to be behind them. We see later in the film a lot of wrestling and jujitsu in his past.
1. No one just starts working for the table. The table doesn't exactly give you a choice. 2. They didn't figure out John was being helped, they went after anyone he had any sort of relationship of trust with, any old friends, etc. 3. Caine isn't just sitting eating for those reasons. He's a practitioner of work smarter not harder. He'll let everyone else kill each other knowing John will come out on top, then it's easier to find him. 4. Throughout the films, no one in public places notices or reacts to the killing... because the world of the table, the assassins, is just below the surface, hidden. We (the camera) exist in their world. We can see them, ordinary people can't. It's a cool way of showing the "underworld" of The Table. 5. There are some extremely insane car hitting people stunts in this one. And those are practical. 6. The craziest stair fall stunt I've ever seen. 7. Both have to discharge their pistol before another round can be fired. Because John hadn't shot his, the Marquis just had to stand there and take the bullet. And Caine made sure the Marquis freed him and his daughter in sight and hearing of the Harbinger. An extremely brilliant plan. 8. Winston, right at the end, shows a tattoo on his wrist, the mark of the Ruska-Roma... the family John belonged to. He says "farewell my son" in Russian. Some think it means Winston was his father. Not likely, more likely it's the general "farewell son of the Ruska-Roma" meaning. But still a cool little detail.
Watching it in the cinema was the best as other people lost it when he was trying to get up the stairs but kept falling. They were literally shouting out "Just let the man up there" 🤣🤣🤣
I’d never watched or wanted to watch John Wick, and then I heard Donnie Yen, Scott Adkins, and Hiroyuki Sanada were going to be in Chapter IV, and I knew I had to see that. They’re all such legendary martial artists. So I proceeded to watch Chapters I - III in one day.
Also, this is just another film that shows how amazing charming Donnie Yen is and American audiences really miss out on the imported action scene. Dude's incredible actor. Most only know about the Ip Man films. He has a hell of a catalog. Everyone has their 'bruce lee 2.0' hero from that genre and Donnie Yen was mine. He's like the unofficial 'cool guy' of martial arts. I'm still mad at how wasted his role was in Blade II
Aaaand there goes the editing. Just blew past John using nunchucks, Caine fighting Koji's men, the tracker using his bulletproof backpack in the old house shootout, and of course there's the issue of the *_POST-CREDITS SCENE_*
The reason why he chose blades is because he already was going to pick John Wicks friend as a sponsor and he knew how good he was with a blade. Also yes she does have good facial Twitches which is why he made a very good Pennywise
I love how they made this one feel like a video game. All of john wick's extra lives, the eagle eye scene, losing progress in the stairs, multiplayer co-op, the final boss.
the guy who plays killa is Scott Adkins and yeah he can move. he is like a legendary stunt man/ actor in fight movies. He is known for the undisputed movies which are like super over the top movies.
Natalie, I for one am not convinced that John is dead. Didn't appear to be a life threatening wound. But the grave will stop people from seeking him out any more. There are 2 spin-offs being talked about, and still the possibility of a wick 5 is not out of the question. The 2 spin-offs are tentatively called The Continental - which takes place in the 1970s and tells the story of Winston and how he came to rise to his position. The other is called the Ballerina telling of a ballerina/assassin whom appeared briefly in the Wick franchise. Another rumor is that when we see Winston put his hand on Johns headstone and say goodbye, the tattoo on his hand or wrist is the crest of John's "family" fueling speculation that Winston was John's father. I guess we all have something to look forward to. Love your reactions and commentary.
The thing is, we did see him fall over but he could have passed out from blood loss or shock from pain. We never see his corpse, the next shot you see the gravestone. Winston could have faked his death so John could finally be free from the high table. The fifth film could be the high table finding out John is still alive. There are also two spinoff series coming out, The Continental and Ballerina with Ana De Armas.
@@carl_consumer.of.reality The high table does what the high table wants. In 2, he got pulled back in against his will when he was done. The high table thinking he is dead is the only sure way to get out.
Natalie!!!!!! There was a 30 second scene after all of the credits. Akira's revenge. Also, didn't John promise to kill the members of The Table? Even though he was freed from his commitments from The Table, he still despises The Table for what they did to him. Maybe, Winston helped fake his death, so that The Table wouldn't be looking over their shoulder and mysteriously start dying off?
It makes sense to hit and run in this case because bullets are flying left and right, so stopping may put the people in the vehicles in danger of being hit by a stray bullet
John’s fight with killa is my favorite part ever & fun fact, the dragon breath shotgun fight scene had the same music from John Wick 1, when John chases iosef at the party. And RIP Lance Reddick, the guy who died in the beginning of the movie in real life.
22:30 Natalie, just so you know, this whole scene was shot in ONE take from that birds eye view. Can you imagine that? How much practice & work that would have been done to perfect that run? Epic.
That Belgian Malinois reacting to being hit by a car and just BOUNCING right back up and being angry is so true to the breed lol. Imagine the loyalty of a golden, the bite strength of a pitbull, the sassiness of a husky, and the endurance and speed of a greyhound, all wrapped up in one breed. There's a reason why they are THE dog breed used worldwide by special operations teams - they are INCREDIBLY intelligent, take no shit from anybody, and are very, very loyal once you gain their trust. They make great bomb-sniffing military dogs because when trained properly, they will do things of their own volition without any handler input. And you don't want a dog that only reacts to its handler's signals when you're in an active warzone - you need a dog that's capable of being another member of your squad and acting on its own, yet in perfect concert with your own actions.
The tv show is called The Continental, takes place in the 1970s and is about Winston and Charon's friendship and rise to running the hotel. Chad is producing but not directing or writing.
When Winston rests his hand on the tombstone, reveals a tattoo identical to Johns, which was never seen before on him, and he says farewell my son... could he have been his father the whole time, possible hint for future installments
The DJ who gave out where John was and what he was doing was a throwback to the DJ from the movie The Warriors. Lynn Thigpen played the character when The Warriors was in movie theaters. And now I must again watch that flìck.
I was so excited to see that Clancy Brown was in the cast but his character was very subdued and underwhelming for a man of his stature. Donnie Yen has now been typecast as siteless action stars.
That was his idea actually. They initially had him as a stereotypically named Chinese martial artist with Chinese clothing and all but he said if they wanted to keep him in the film he would build the character himself. The blindness, his grim sense of humor, his clothing, and even his name were all Donnie's idea.
That’s one of my favorite parts of this movie. It really shows that the table is a massive and old organization, no one is above the table. Characters like Clancy Brown’s expand the world and drive this point home.
I dont want them to bring john back for a sequel. I feel like this is a good way to end his story. he set out to do what he wanted to do and now can be with his wife. I would love either a prequel to how he became as badass as he is, or a spinoff with the dog man, or the blind man. either of those would be cool.
a thing people have brought up is john was shot in the same spots the doctor in the 3rd movie told him to shoot that was none leathal, under the floating rip and in the shoulder above the collar bone.
If John wick 2 taught us anything, it’s that extras dancing in the background are most definitely assassins probably enjoying their day off. They’re just gonna keep on dancing.
I dunno, I think they could either have Shimazu Akira, Koji's daughter from the Osaka Continental surprise Wick while he's off in his retirement somewhere after faking his death... I could see her demanding he help her track down Caine because she wanted to avenge her father. Or it might be interesting to make it a prequel, to see some kind of showdown series of events that allowed Wick to exit the life and marry Helen, while filling in and developing the relationship time with them on screen to give the first installment even more punch in hindsight. And of course, somewhere in that story we would need a dog that Helen or John tragically lost to make the rebirth move of her having one delivered when she was terminal hit harder and bookend everything.
A Chapter 5 is supposedly in the works. At he end, go back and keep a eye on the dog while the King and Winston are talking, Wick's dog turns his head to the left and makes a slight noise.
Killa is Scott Adkins, even in a fat suit he can kick a 6'2" dude in the head. Scott is one of the most well rounded martial artists turned actors in the world today, most of his movies are low budget straight to DVD but he's been in big movies, he fought Dr. Strange in astral form and was one of the thugs on the bus in Shang Chi. Scott's best known role is playing the Ukraine MMA fighter Yuri Boyka in the Undisputed franchise that takes place in a Russian prison. It was before the Russian invasion of Ukraine but the movies use their political differences as a backdrop for why Yuri is who he is and why he's in a Russian prison. It's a redemption story, he starts out as the antagonist and becomes the protagonist by the end of his story arc but it's the fight scenes everyone watches them for, some of the best ever put on film.
Extraction & Extraction 2 starring Chris Hemsworth is John Wiskish. In Part 1 there's an 11 minute continuous car/foot chase and fight scene and in Part 2 there's a 22 minute continuous take from a prison escape to a car chase to a battle on a train. The very real helicopter really lands on a very real moving train, I saw the behind the scenes of filming and it was very awesome, like very, whatever that means. If I ever figure out what "very" means I might have a EUREKA moment and get Pontypooled (a Canadian movie reference about zombies infected by language, you'll probably never see it)
One thing that I couldn't stop thinking about when watching this movie is, the Marquis is always accompanied by these secretaries and bartenders and waiters; these otherwise basic employees must be getting paid more than some CEOs, based on the level of trust required alone. Also, what would the hiring process for this even be like?
John Wick plays like a stand alone movie in the first one. The first one was about the death of his love from his wife. The next 3 are the John Wick who has been forced back into the assassin world and his impossible task to get back out again. He just wanted to be left alone, the table just wouldn’t let him.
The guy playing Killa Harkan (Scott Adkins) might be the most talented Western martial artist in Hollywood right now. And these mad lads put him in a fat suit and make it work. Amazing.
in my mind, the 4th movie ends how the first movie began, with John all F'ed up, he slumps over, but is not really dead, just catching himself, if he really was dead, i think he woulda rolled down the stairs a bit
There's a post-credits scene where Koji's daughter goes after Caine. this year will also premiere a series about the continental and will show the youth of winston. there is a spin off called ballerina that will further expand the franchise and a fifth film in production. There is a suspicion that John's death was faked
I always thought that Caine could see the cards when he pulled them up to his face since being blind doesn't necessarily mean that he can't see anything at all.
I'm a little surprised no one has mentioned, or noticed, the reenactment from the 1979 The Warriors using the DJ (just her mouth) to spread the news. She even used the word "boppers" to describe the troops and it's the same music she plays.
Here are the plans for the franchise that I'm aware of. 1) There is a spinoff movie planned for next year called Ballerina. A female John Wick type that came from that theater in John Wick 3. 2) A spinoff TV series for HBO Max called The Continental. A trailer for the series is already out. 3) John Wick 5 is in the very early stages of preproduction. They had considered ending John's story in this one, but after making over a billion dollars worldwide for this movie, they decided to keep going.
Killa Harken is played by Mr Scott Adkins, from Sutton Coldfield Birmingham, a hometown boy of mine made good. Adkins has been quietly making his name for the last couple decades as a primo stuntman and action star. He doubled as Deadpool in X-Men Origins Wolverine. He's appeared in the Ip Man series opposite Donny Yen, opposite Jackie Chan in Shanghai Knights, headlines the Undisputed movies, was the mook who fights Doctor Strange in the astral realm and gets crash-carted to death, and has his own franchise called Accident Man. He's a swell guy and a real character. Also, not for nothing, when asked in interviews about all the famous action stars like Donny Yen that he gets to fight, Keanu *specifically* set the record straight by naming Adkins in the same breath as Yen. Praise from Caesar indeed. 😊
Ballerina takes place between John Wick 3 and John Wick 4, it starts at the Ruska Roma assassin school and Angelica Huston will be reprising her role as The Director, the one who had the sword thrust through her hands, John will appear in a flashback of his visit, the story will follow the ballerina who collapsed on stage during their talk, her name is Rooney and will be played by Ana de Armas who I think looks like Selma Hayek and Miley Cyrus were merged into one person.
Not sure if the rumours are true but Rooney might be the younger sister of John, there might be some scenes of the two of them during his visit to the Ruska Roma from her point of view that weren't shown in JW3.
that they had Clancy Brown show up as the Harbinger... didn't have to do anything. just his on-screen presence alone added so much weight to the movie.
I think Caine may be legally blind but not fully blind, ie: can see things super close to his face, maybe make out some shadows. Also, the family didn't betray John, they pretended to sell him out to get in into Killa's room.
Scott Adkins throwing those kicks in a fat suit is everything I didnt know I ever needed! 😁🥰 The song/s playing during that whole scene are f'ing AWESOME!! 🤘😎🤘 LETS GOOOOO!!

I love The Warriors (1979) reference, as blatantly obvious as it, but I've never seen anyone mention it.
@maximillianosaben yo I noticed the same thing, I mean I don't think many reaction channels have watched the warriors yet
Calm down
Pay attention to Wicks dog. He looks off to the side randomly and takes off. It leaves the possibility that John is not actually dead. Or at least leaves it up for interpretation.
JOHN WICK DEAD???? or is he??? (wink wink)
Yeah no John is dead
@StevePerez2900 Guess we will never be able to dig up the corpse and find out. That and because it's a made up story. Unless the creator stated be is indeed dead, I will forever choose to believe Mr Wick lives on in peace, finally.
please no. it was a good movie end it with a bang instead dying to a terrible film
I watched this movie in theaters. One of the best action movies. Just the sheer stunt choreography and dedication by Keanu brought me so much joy.
My theatre starting cheering and went absolutely crazy when John killed the Marquis , out of everything that happened in the movie John killing his character got the biggest pop from the audience😂😂
well. that's the finally. so.
Lance Reddicks death passed shortly after the movie release which made his death in this hurt that much more
This movie is pure gold, you have Marko Zaror, Scott Adkins, Donnie Yen and Keanu giving it all on this awesome combat sequences, just pure action gold.
As someone who took Jiu-Jitsu, you explained it perfectly
This movie hit legendary status when the they chose bloodbath at The Arc D’Truimph while blasting Paint it Black. That Oozes so much style!
So poetic that his last words in a movie were. "It was an honor"
Yes Mr. Reddick. It was indeed.
The duel would be a quick time event finale.
Don't forget the dragon's breath shotgun rounds.
Omg yes. Why haven’t I noticed that before. 🤯
Also fall damage being turned off.
Invincible protagonist until the epic finale cutscene where he dies from a single gunshot
Scott Adkins (Killa) is a great martial artist. I can't imagine he's actually that big; I suspect padding to make him look that way.
Its 1000% a fat suit. Dude is JACKED in real life.
Nat, always watch through all the credits in case there are other scenes (hint: there was one). 😊
John wick - He Grieved
John wick 2- He Raged
John wick 3- He Bargained
John wick 4- He Accepted
John wick 5= He Resurrected
John Wick 6: He pays taxes
6:12 RIP Lance Reddick 😪 His actin in The Wire was phenomenal growing up watching that my lord
Charon's death definitely hits harder knowing that Lance Reddick actually passed away... 😢
John Wick has 3 weaknesses.
Cars, stairs and gravity
Killa played by the one and only Scott Adkins, one of the best martial artists working in film today
the guy who plays killa is Scott Adkins and yeah he can move. he is like a legendary stunt man/ actor in fight movies. He is known for the undisputed movies which are like super over the top movies.
People usually count how many people John Wick kills. But in the highway fight, I was counting how many times he got hit by a car.
I’d love to see a prequel series about John’s life before he left for Helen, and how he earned the title of Baba Yaga.
12:35 an ad played as soon as she said can we cut away right now. Great job on that ad placement
John Wick: Ballerina, beginning of next year.
Fun fact: This was the first movie role ever for the actress who played Koji's daughter
This entire movie felt like one long dubstep remix fighting montage, loved it.
The Harbinger is the voice actor for Mr Krabs 😂
The movie Upgrade (2018) might be a fun one to see her react to. Anyone else agree?
That opening was unbelievably loud in theaters. We saw it in Dolby and it was earth-shaking. Highly recommend it if its ever re-released.
But his "obligation to the high Table" was satisfied. Meaning they would have no reason to kill him now, as Clancy Brown stated "You are free."
Nathalie, you must watch the end credit scene...
Get ready for the series about The Continental :) That's debuting pretty soon (the trailer is out).
Loved the trailer. Cant wait.
Been Part of the Crew! It has been hell of a ride! Meeting KR has been amazing! Glad u enjoyed it, gurl! ❤
I hope Chad Stahelski gets to direct HIGHLANDER
a thing people have brought up is john was shot in the same spots the doctor in the 3rd movie told him to shoot that was none leathal, under the floating rip and in the shoulder above the collar bone.
A. Yep it's his finale. B. They can always do a prequel C. Keanu has signed on to do a film off-shoot of the franchise called BALLERINA w/Ana de Armas
A Chapter 5 is supposedly in the works.
At he end, go back and keep a eye on the dog while the King and Winston are talking, Wick's dog turns his head to the left and makes a slight noise.
Donnie Yen is amazing. He somehow plays Caine like a cartoon character and yet it fits perfectly
And the best part is that when Winston says that he didn't shoot, I believe that by the rules of the duel, the Marquis has to stand there and take it.
The Lawrence of Arabia homage at the beginning was so good, best Wick movie!
Fun Fact. The actor who plays the Harbinger is the same guy who was the sadistic guard in Shawshank Redemption and the voice of Mr Krabs on Sponge Bob
If I ever figure out what "very" means I might have a EUREKA moment and get Pontypooled (a Canadian movie reference about zombies infected by language, you'll probably never see it)
16:30 John was moving around Killa in order to get into a better mount position, to better control the ground fight.
Work well or get shot.
25:13 Winston: "What a beautiful sunrise... ISN'T IT CAINE?!?!?!"
Did u see the extra scene in the credits? It kinda hints what may come in the future.
Charon's death definitely broke my hear even knowing that Lance Reddick actually passed away once the movie was released
The moral of this series is "You can't really despise a dog person."
I'm a little surprised no one has mentioned, or noticed, the reenactment from the 1979 The Warriors using the DJ (just her mouth) to spread the news. She even used the word "boppers" to describe the troops and it's the same music she plays.
I love the movie references, the DJ scene is from 1979 The Warriors.
They are ready talking about a 5
This movie has the most action I think I’ve ever seen in an action movie, like SO many fights… it’s awesome
and so many felt unique. like that top down seen is fucking magic.
Scott Adkins was sick in this movie really showed off his acting chops
RIP Lance Riddick he died the week before the movie dropped. Poetic he also died in the last movie.
Shamier Anderson who plays Tracker in this film refers to himself as Nobody. That's one film you really want to watch. NOBODY excellent film
The guy who created John Wick also wrote Nobody. I felt this was a wink and a nod reference to him... 😂
Absolutely my favorite film of the year.
Clancy Brown can outact most others just by being there. I love that actor so much.
I think Caine may be legally blind but not fully blind, ie: can see things super close to his face, maybe make out some shadows. Also, the family didn't betray John, they pretended to sell him out to get in into Killa's room.
John got shot where the Doctor in chapter 3 told him to shot him as it was non-fatal. Caine literally says “you owe me one” after the duel
Scott Adkins throwing those kicks in a fat suit is everything I didnt know I ever needed! 😁🥰 The song/s playing during that whole scene are f'ing AWESOME!! 🤘😎🤘
LETS GOOOOO!!
