    Post Notes / FAQ:
    - I opted for the bottom location because I want to keep original function, and because it looks cleaner
    - You can use what you learn in this video, to do it anywhere else on the PSP
    - Yes I will have a video on how to do it with other models in the future
    - I will be trying out the replacement of the Mini USB port and / or the IR sensor.
    - It's not perfect in the video as its cracked slightly because it was done during the experimental phase to showcase the best way to get it centered
    Plans:
Next Mod Videos Will Have To Be HDMI & Battery Testing Video ( Going To Need Full Focus & All My PSPs Running 24/7 )
In the meantime I will probably try to upload something lite. o_0

Honestly if the original PSP's charger wasn't so long, I would probably do this mod. I just see no point for myself who normally just plays at home and doesn't mind plugging it in when it dies lol. You made the mod look super easy tho!

I agree, I honestly have no problem with the original cable & port, much prefer it over microusb, I got plenty of spares, battery is long enough to not care for my use, its just a nice have type of thing of a project lol

I'd love to see a 3d-printed adapter that could simply replace the yellow connector and allow (or provide) physical support for a USB-C terminal. Frankly I'm surprised no one's developed one yet, as it would be a really clean way to do it while eliminating a now-unused connection.

Keen to see how that power delivery port works!
I also bought some needle files to fine tune the port, it's definitely better than trying to melt the hole or using a dremel!
I am surprised you are doing this on original shells though, as quite a few members of the community complain if an OG shell is altered damaged, and a third party shell is good for practicing.
A friend of mine also made a 3D printed faceplate that goes around the front of the USB C port. You bring the port out 1mm proud and can glue on this face plate and it hides the hole. It makes the port sit slightly proud but in my opinion it looks quite good. Another alternative is to plug something into the USB and use a very fine RTV silicone with a needle applicator to fill in the gaps around the port, then you smooth off the silicone with a cotton tip/qtip

For your 2nd soldering guide, please experiment on trying to swap that mini-usb to usb-c.
Ever since I got a psp decades ago, I feel having the cord at the bottom hinders while playing.
If the USB-C is at the top, you could solder the data lines + power from the bottom as well.

iirc the psp 1000 has a IR sensor on the top that is unused (except for some homebrew applications) and the IR port is roughly the same shape and size of a usb-c port. Might be a good alternative location.

    • @TotalKommando

@TotalKommando yeah, with the video out on the 2000 and 3000 it's not all that required. Though I can see why some would want to implement a video out on the 1000, and the placement of the cable is a far improvement in the mod over the official one, comfort wise at least.
I look forward to your video covering it as I am curious what aspects you dislike about the mod.

Yea cant wait to get into that project, in the end of the video for the "Solderless" method I did leave the charging port not connected, but since then the psp is left in parts.
Once I do it again, I plan to keep the original charging port function as I still want it to work like stock on old accessories : )
