@@SuperiorNo1 I bought a charger on Amazon for £ 200. use it for my electric car. The manufacturers and dealers make more money on accessories!! Of course once you have a wall box charger at home with male lead. you don't need to faff around. during the petrol station fuel shortage I didn't waste any time in the ques. EV are a time saver once you get used to the charge at home idea. obviously for cars range would have to be 300 miles + for distances longer than 150 + miles return. there are more advantages than disadvantages especially if its second family driver!! for petrol two wheeler I would want comfort of 300-400 cc for occasional dual carriage runs. Ride Safe..

Great bike. Just purchased mine a week ago. Fully loaded. I wish this had a it more range. 100 mile range would be the sweet spot. They designed this as a commuter. Yes & no. Why do you need all these modes for around town. It clearly was designed for more than a commuter. I think because of the limited range they called it a commuter. The performance is really spectacular. The regenerative breaking makes this bike even safer and will cut down on break wear greatly.

Very impressed, actually more than that I'm sold. Expensive but look at how well it is designed. So practical and user friendly. I'd like to see a video of one optioned up with the comfort seat, a top box - I don't need a pillion seat. Screen for rain and wind protection. Hand covers, protection bars around grips. Slot wheel mags to let sidewinds through motorways, rural roads.

I like the look of this even if many think it's like an ironing board. Reverse! Superbly equipped. But far too many features for an 80 mile scooter - a Super Soco or Niu will do that job at a fraction of the price. Good on BMW for making this. And when that battery density goes up - nice it's sharing the iX/i4 pack so good chance of that - it'll be a lot more compelling.

I'll keep my C-evolution but you can't really compare that to a super soco or a Niu : 42hp / 120km/h top speed. Overkill (and if anything like the C-evo frankly too heavy) if you only cruise downtown but a must if you have a more mixed commute highway/road and then downtown.
And also knowing BMW the chassis is certainly a must, my C-evo feels like it"s on a rail.

Motorbikes like this should have two dials to adjust the Throttle response and Regen on the go. It has been said that it is most economical not to regenerate every time you let go of the gas. You should coast and only regen when needed. What I got from this is you should always ride the Rain mode to limit acceleration and regen and then change to eco when you NEED to stop. I guess it works like that ok but you need to know what every mode does.

I like it - looks very cool and would be great for my work commute of around 5 miles a day. The price is way too salty though and puts it way out of reach for most of us. In comparison - I recently bought a Honda Forza 300 with less than 500 miles on it for £4800, which makes the BMW look very expensive. Also, how could it be chained up? I didn’t seem very security friendly.

I actually like the look of this but the thing I don't like about it is the storage compartment.
That space could have been utilised for an extra optional battery pack to give it more range.
Also it takes a long time to charge, set the scene, pouring down with rain or it just started snowing, you got 40 mile ride to get home, but the battery is way too low to get you there, you have to sit and wait 2 or more hours just to get home, and what if you don't have a charger at home, or can't charge at home, your bike will be flat the next day until you take it to the nearest charger and wait for it to charge yet another 2 to 4 or more hours.
But with the extra space and with an optional battery you could leave that on charge in your house take it out when you need it, won't need to go looking for a street charger, and so on.
So it has potential but it still does not address the issue of charge time and charge issues, and what's the point of having a bike that goes reasonably fast if it is only for the city, most cities now in the UK for example are 20 mph.
And you won't need to wait in the rain or snow while it charges, unlike this.

And the highest prices you ever seen.. only the rich will afford them.. I thought they would go down as time goes by.. but instead they just added more capability and raised the prices.. This bike cost over 12000$ and it is really just a replacement for cheap Chinese in city scooters you can buy for about 1500$... A real electric motorcycle like Harley has cost over 30 grand

@@zinta1 agreed. New tech takes time to ramp in production and sheer numbers which reduces price eventually. Sadly its the poor who are going to suffer the most with the ongoing world fuel crisis. Nickel and other prime battery elements are becoming scarce made worse due to the Russia V Ukraine conflict. Dont expect price reductions for a while

@@HabitualFixation 75% of all the electric bike companies that ever existed have failed and are gone.. some had great bikes with really good engineering...but they died.. because as you say... resources to make the batteries.. and PRICE..and some people just wont buy them.. you can expect more failures in the near future... I would expect the electric car and bike industry to take a dive

What´s smart about it? Only a person who never rode a motorbike could say that. The passenger seat is suicide, the helmet storage is just stupid and also small, the looks are shit, the yellow accent colors look like bug stains. It looks like an ugly fish and half-way to the rear the design just changes completely and it turns into a pill shaped clown ride.

I love it, but it’s a niche market and BMW have gambled with that price tag, I think. Niche, because I think it is perhaps just for commuting. A luggage rack would have been way better, as well as the heated grips and bigger screen.

130 km of range this is very little. The actual travel distance will probably be even less. To make it clear, for Italy, where the overwhelming number of people travel by scooter, it is necessary to cover the distances from Milan to Bergamo, for example, twice a day. Buying a scooter to drive only around the city is very strange.

I can bring about €60 of groceries on my humble Lifan E3 electric scooter - purchase cost €2,600. With its flat spacious floor - ideal for placing a big shopping bag between your feet, helmet box and a rucksack if needed (usually not). It also has some nice storage space under the seat for your bike lock and rain gear. That scooter may look cool but its not very practical for shopping. Id sonner buy a nice classic petrol bike if I had that money to spend.

I stopped half way to check out the price, it seems very expensive for what it is. There are loads of alternatives and I’m not talking about electric scooters, petrol alternatives are still really good options plus there are 100,s of ebikes that could meet a users need, I have a small car, a Brompton and now I’m considering a piaggio mp3 bike which is about 7k, I use all vehicles depending on the journey, the bmw is priced like a decent used car. I think they missed a trick here on pricing.

Still is strongly limited in range, not for city riding or commuting, but has no range for touring which is a point counter the choice of having this bike for multiple purposes. The price, for what is offered is still high. But amongst the electric motorcycles is a choice of excellency:- It’s futuristic design is a great plus, the power and agility on urban environment is something else. At the red lights it’s always the first to come out ahead every vehicle, and 3-4 hours to load up the battery full or 75% full seems more than capable. Very spacious seat for two and there is a reasonable luggage space with a cavity capable of storing one full helmet in there. And to my eyes it doesn’t look like a simple scooter as this segment of bikes they all look alike . This has a so different aesthetic and design that doesn’t look like any other scooter. One thing that I don’t like on scooters is the sound their engines produce, and this one has practically no sound as all electric engines are:- Silent.
So in traffic it’s s a joy to ride, very fast and stealth , great maneuverability. It was a pleasure to test ride it. This is a motorcycle different from everything that is available in the Market.👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I like it. I could use it for my commuter, and I think I'd enjoy it, but it's missing some practicality points. I live in a flat, so I can't plug it in. How do I lock it up? Now if they made it so I could pull the battery out and take it inside to charge, that would mean I could use it, and probably make it not worth nicking. A single helmet space isn't enough storage for me.

Thanks for the great initial review Bob! Quick off the mark as usual. A couple of things I thought about on first seeing this.
First and foremost, it looks like a good scooter for city travel. I like the quirky futuristic looks (personal taste obv) the seat looks terrible though and the pillion 'perch' is a serious afterthought.
I LOVE the TFT dash! ALL bikes with a TFT take a look at how it should be done!
Range is acceptable for what it is intended to do, commute city streets. If you live further than 40 miles then you're looking at charging at work. (No biggie)
I would have liked to see a dedicated storage area for the charging cables separate from the 'boot' area. This bike is going to need charging with a small range and the ability to carry the cables without taking up storage would be key if I was designing it.
The price....yeah...THAT is a sore one. best part of 12k UK is steep.

Well if you charge at work every day, you put the cable in the storage while you ride, and the helmet in there while you park and charge?

I have the grey color scooter -- its good scooter it is classified as a motorcycle here in the US -- one problem the phone cradle does not fit my Samsung Galaxy Ultra 20 with the case off -- I had to break one tabs to get it out of the phone holder--bad design. Also -range - you will need to plan your commute to include a charging station stop.
