Will this do dpf regen on mk 6 transits please
I have not tried that yet, I would be surprised if it does, but it’s been pretty impressive so far for its price range. Next one comes in I’ll look and see.
Jimmy on Saturday mernin, u know it's gonna b a gr8 day, thx 4 all u do Jimmy, u da Man! 👌👌👌😛
You rock! Thanks Duane!
Can it also be connected with a cable?
I believe so, but haven't tried it myself.
A lot of other techs have spoken highly of Launch scanners. This unit has a lot of features at a great price point. With so many scanners out there it's hard to make a decision as which one to get. My current scanner is an Innova 5610. It is o.k. but I'd like to get something a little more advanced. Thanks for sharing Jimmy. I hope you have a great weekend!
Yeah, I don’t think someone would go wrong with any of them nowadays. Lots of features and 2 years in software updates usually.
I wish they had them with scopes in them like Snap On does? ;)
I use launch torque USA 3 as my primary scanner. Have an Autel mx808 to plug the holes.
How long do you think you’ll review the LAUNCH before going back to the TOP DON?
In the coming week I’ll switch back and forth each day to compare.
Jimmy! Thank you for your time and review. Have a great weekend!
Thanks, you too Alfred!
Do you know how much the yearly subscription is after the free 2 year trial?
I think it is based on which tool, but it starts at $299 from memory. I often just buy the upgraded tool once mine expires and it included two years of subscription as well as other upgrades that way. Then sell or donate the prior tool, could even use it as a back up.
Will it pull security code
I do not think it will do that.
For the DIYer this is a capable tool and a great value.
Very true!
it's true, it's fast and cool, good for working on cars, but the software I'm not sure if it's original, why I think so, because it can't be registered on any website provided by the manufacturer or Launch, I get sn: it's not correct so I don't understand how it works because the device is registered and logged in and you can download updates. I watch videos of Launch and in the service functions there are, for example, icons + description, while in CRP919EBT there is only a description, so it also makes me think why it is different, but it is also supposed to be Launch. Finally, purchase the update only from the person who purchased the device and you cannot count on the possibility of e.g. 2 years for the price of 1 year, as Autel does, i.e.: license $150 for a year, or $300 for two, where Autel offers promotions, e.g. 2 years for 150 dollars, i.e. a year for 75 dollars. so quite a difference.
I think the his is posted twice? Unless my reply didn’t work the first time.
The issue for me is my Snap On scanners cost $995 every 6 months to update, or you can get a subscription for $120 a month for the year. So it’s less expensive to buy a new Launch scanner as often as needed.
There is no right or wrong, lots to consider.
Thanks.
I've got a 919x that has the kickstand feature. Seen a 919e with it too. A buddy got a 919x unit that did not have the immobilizer feature and ordered a 919e that did. When I got mine it was just the opposite. Not sure why launch has so many variations of the otherwise exact same model ( which is excellent ) but otherwise very confusing.
Yeah, I wish they had some sort of kick stand on all of them. Pennies to add one.
Probably for different market segments. Some are not meant for export but still end up on the internet in the states.
Just ordered one for home for the side work. Thanks for the review and always making great videos
Awesome! Thank you!
How do you like it so far ?
Jimmy after the two years free upgrades, does Launch still give you access to the information if you don't choose to continue to pay for a subscription?
I am told they do allow the tool to work. By leaving the update screen and continuing it will still function.
On record test, with the engine cold and not running, look at CTS reading to check the CTS accuracy. It should be close to outside temperature. On misfire test, with the engine warmed up, check misfires to check for a leaking head gasket. Erase the codes and check for misfires. If there's a coil for 2 cylinders next to each other, it can be the coil. Ebay has a scope that checks individual spark burn times and firing voltages. It's for COP ignition.
Thanks for the tips!
will it do a active test to demand max fuel pressure on the cp3 injection pump to test?for a 2005 gmc sierra 2500hd with a 6.6L duramax?if not do you know what bidirectional scanner will? thank you
Hmmm, I have not tried that test myself recently on any of my scan tools. It is usually something most bidirectional scan tools can do, if the manufacturer allows it with an aftermarket tool.
Usually anything emissions related they allow by law. But I’d email the manufacturer or seller of the scan tool to be 100% sure.
Can you use a universal fca 12+8 adapter so you don't need to pay the swg autoauth?
You can buy it requires getting to the gateway module. Some vehicles it’s easy, some it’s not. The subscription is $39 or so last I looked. I Just don’t do it in protest, haha.
Would this let me update my VIN and fix the Immobilizer on a used replace ECM for an 09 Honda?
Some modules don't allow VIN over write no matter what scanner is used. Manufacturers control this and make it hard on the aftermarket. I usually try any scanners we have on hand and see based on an individual basis.
This is a very capable tool for it's price and can do immobilizer, just the VIN is hard to say.
Does this unit perform brake pedal sensor relearn? Cannot find any detailed docs on it. Thanks!
I am not sure I’ve had to do that, don’t recall? On a hybrid? I would be surprised if it did not since it’s done all I’ve asked it so far?
Before i buy the tool can you tell me if it has like google or any internet access and is the tool possible to add other apps
Yes, it does have internet and uses it for the trouble shooter features. Have not tried to add apps yet, but it should be able to.
Does it do show topology? How is the support with newer cars like a 2023?
No topology, I have not used it on 2023 yet, but it works on 2022 Silverado 4500 HD, so should do other new vehicles. Here is a discount link if you want to check it out further…

Does this do older key fobs (fobs that are not attached to the key)?
It can do many, it also leads you thru the manufacturers procedure when the dash controls can be used to program them.
Launch over the Snap-on 😂😂😂😂😂
Depends on the budget.
How much r.o.m space is there and can you expand your memory 1-10 terabytes ? It sounds like a handy midrange diagnostic tool ❤😺✌🏼💂🏼🇬🇧.
Thanks Dain! I'll have to look at the specs when I'm back at the shop and see.
Looks like a great choice for a scanner. Thanks for the review.
No problem 👍 Thanks Scott!
Just checked the amazon link ... the scanner can not be shipped to California (tried multiple addresses) ???
Wow, that is odd. I wonder if it isn't considered CA compliant? Maybe just a glitch and you can try it again later?
@@JimmyMakingitwork I don't know ... I tried to 2 different street addresses in my city and another street in a different city, in a different county... My neighbor and I have been watching your videos with the topdon and now the launch tools. Since we are only working on our own and family's vehicles, we are planning on splitting the cost of a good scan tool that will just float between our garages. We are both just DIY weekend warriors now, and for either of us to buy a good scan tool alone would be a waste, as it would just sit unused most of the time.
@@fordtruckguy5545 Try to move to another state brother.
Great review so which do you like better Launch or Top Don ? 👍👍
So far I like the TOPDON because of the larger screen size and kick stand. I just wish they didn’t have the “Topology issue” where only some Lite 2’s had it.
@@JimmyMakingitwork 10-4 on that
"LIKE" button has been torqued to the manufacturer's recommended specification. "CLICK".
God forbid you should be running around with a loose "LIKE" button !
Haha, thanks very much!
Thank you
You’re welcome!
