LYRICS:
We've been waiting so long,
We've been waiting for the sun to rise and shine
Shining still to give us the will
Can you hear me, the sound of my voice?
I am here to tell you I have made my choice
I've been listening to what's been going down
There's just too much talk and gossip going 'round
You may think that I'm a fool, but I know the answer
Words become a tool, anyone can use them
Take the golden rule, as the best example
Eyes that have seen will know what I mean
The time has come to take the bull by the horns
We've been so downhearted, we've been so forlorn
We get weak and we want to give in
But we still need each other if we want to win
Hold that line, baby hold that line
Get up boys and hit 'em one more time
We may be losing now but we can't stop trying
So hold that line, baby hold that line
If you don't know what to do about a world of trouble
You can pull it through if you need to and if
You believe it's true, it will surely happen
Shining still, to give us the will
Bright as the day, to show us the way
Somehow, someday
We need just one victory and we're on our way
Prayin' for it all day and fightin' for it all night
Give us just one victory, it will be all right
We may feel about to fall but we go down fighting
You will hear the call if you only listen
Underneath it all we are here together shining still
Oh, Todd, what an inspirational musician, producer of my times - your chosen key sat well with me & Ive admired your work for almost half a century now - you’re music has seen me thru’ quite a journey.
Thank you, Jane
I hear this album for the first time in 50 years and it's always genious and so special. Everything is in place and wonderfull production. One of the best album of all time in America.
Excellent just as it was when it came out!
I worked as an usher at Jacobs Field from 2002-2003. This song was always played after a Cleveland Indians loss as the fans were walking out of the stadium.
hysterical !!!
Todd really knows how to close an album, this track is a piece of art. Same thing with "Sons of 1984".
all it takes is one victory
After Decades From age 16-63 years old I Celebrated MY FIRST YEAR Clean and Sober from 11.11.2021 To 11.11.2022....I Played Just One Victory 47 Times ALL Day Long LOUD because I Always Want More...Prior To receiving My ONE YEAR Coin at AA. A miracle I am Called as I had 19 OD's ....sometimes 2 A Day...Amazing Feat That I Survived Myself....I Am So Grateful, with a tear in my eye For Everyone's Support That Made My Life Worth Living For.....Somehow, Someday, We Need Just ONE Victory & We're On Our Way !! Yours Always,Toby.
Congratulations Brother! It's something I sturuggle with daily, and I'm glad to hear of your success! It's inspiring, and I wish for your continued sobriety.
I, also have been playing this amazingly powerful song on repeat as part of my recently embarked upon recovery process (dire mental health issues).
It’s long been my very favorite song by my favorite performer since I borrowed my college roommate’s I.D. at 17 to go see the “Hello It’s Me” and “I Saw the Light” guy during his Back to the Bars tour in ‘78.
The early set blew my flippin’ mind so hard that me and my two friends bought tickets from a scalper and turned right around to see the late show/set.
It sounds like we are near contemporaries. My journey to sobriety has led me to being free from my drug addictions and alcoholism for nearly 24 years now.
The “bottom” of my multi-decade substance abuse was obviously a much softer crash than yours and it is with a grateful heart that the first couple lines of your post caught my eye and provoked my interest after playing this exact video s-o-o many times including for other people who share our struggles. (It’s fascinating the overlap of addiction issues and mental health issues including treatments and relapse prevention etc.)
I hope you can take heart from my recovery, that it IS indeed possible Just One Victory at a time, successively , every waking second of every day, Brother Toby. Dan
@@xmillion1704 Dan YOU Made My Day....Right as the Rain
God we need this now.
Let's get on Twitter and make this thing TREND as the themesong of the election.
Bought this album in 1974... with money I didn't have ... because it was SO good.
This was the last song played at my wedding reception by the DJ, my request of course. Wedding est. 1994.
That is so Cool!
To Be With You...Hot Tuna or.... I Hate Myself For Loving You....As long as the Tuna Was Hot.....You Get My....Point or..... Dowser!!!
I love this man’s music sooooo much. I will hold it close to my heart forever. Gen Z’er here

@@keepsmilin5766 thank ya!
Ever since I borrowed my college roommate’s I. D. at 17 to see Todd on his “Back to the Bars” tour, he’s been my musical hero.
(Todd’s early show performance, backed by Utopia on this particular stop in Georgetown MD, blew my friends and me away so much that we bought tickets from a scalper on the sidewalk outside and turned right around to attend the late show.)
the song keeps shining on the people
BEST SONG EVER (DIG THAT BASS)
I will go as Far As " Tough To Beat"....Love The Tempo
Such an experience growing up Todd ❤️
I have just listened to this brilliant album for the first time. I agree with its author that it is a watershed. I have also read some of the critical articles that came out in 1973, when it appeared. It is true that the first side is very unlike the things being recorded at the time. But from the perspective of two generations, it seems far ahead of its time. One critic says there are only three songs on it, and by the standards of the day, that is true. But I respond: who cares? Who should care?
I know Toddy-boy was on the pharmaceuticals when he did this album, but a lot of it is too self-indulgent regardless... This is a great song though.
Side one is basically sonic doodling with far more ideas than most bands have in a lifetime
people are critics, because they are NOT Artists
The ending of this song gives off the same sensation of waking up from a really good dream.
This is old but gold.
Todd is a wizard and a true star. I’ve played him for 50 years
Anybody love the background vocals from 3:00 to 3:15? It's so good I can't stop replaying it.
Thank you, True Wizard, for this sweet song of victory.
Great album, by the way.
Thanks to you for watching :D
Saw him this year on the Individualist tour. Gifted and great - as ever. I don't see myself as the kind of person who feels deeply about anyone I don't know personally - but that doesn't seem to hold true for TR. What a gift. This album is as close to perfect as I ever need to hear. Thank you for posting it.
Best tour ever! It blew me away...
I'm glad I got to know this song when I was 15.
Great having the lyrics , thanks
We Are Here. And WeAreStrong.
Great song, and message for the down-hearted.
Message for anyone with a heart...🤙
Congratulations Todd Rundgren! You've been waiting so long. WELCOME to the 2021 Class inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Genuinely, "A Wizard, A True Star"!
Todd Refused To Attend....Took 20 Years & Way Too Long....I guess They were Busy With Dolly
A fitting finale to this very fine album.
After the election results in Alabama last night, this anthem is blasting in my ole Ky. Home.🎶🎼
congrats, dumbass
Words should be in the Top Drawer of the Tool Box For Everyone...It is for Todd...
I'm fired up!!!
Thank you M.
If you are going to do videos like this GET THE LYRICS RIGHT. You have added a verse which does not exist, and cut off the lyrics before the end of the song. You have done Todd AND his fans an injustice.
Mni Wiconi ✨💧🌧️💧✨
just one victory more
It's still possible.. just one
I'm surprised this song is not on karaoke
Todd is redoing JOV with Joe Walsh and Daryl Hall to be released this summer and given to Democrat candidates . Should be interesting!

Wonderful! It would be a great, motivating anthem!
G.O.T.V! VOTE BLUE!
