At 63 and dying of brain cancer. Now this piece doesn't sound so morbid. It sounds like an accurate telling of so many of our lives. We want, but not always get. And sometimes what's best is to take the long way home ....
I’m 53 and dying of Stage 4 Inoperable Double Lung Cancer and I LOVE this song. Death is as quick as a blink of an eye. So like I tell everyone : Death is shutter speed!!!! I’ve been dead once already. I died when I was 9 years old and was down for 45 minutes and I was allowed to come back. I’ve lived every moment like it’s My last because as I learnt at age 9 “No one is promised a tomorrow”!!!!!
Often there is more poetry in the comments that the literary versions of the aforementioned. Thank you for bring us your light, your timely truth. Beautiful! Gratitude from 🇨🇦
I’m 55 years old and grew up loving Supertramp! This was one of my first albums I ever owned. And carries me through life. Helps me get through my miserable days and my misery. I just want to be loved and cared for ❤

Lots of people love and care about you, you will not meet them all or know about them always, but they are there, have faith, love yourself most/first/always!
I just quit my job after having a panic attack at work and when I got to my car and turned it on this song was playing. Needless to say there was laughter and tears as I took the long way home.
It is a great song I grew up listening to this song as Im so sorry for your loss I know the feeling I lost my son to cancer at the age of 29 he is a good boy I miss him so very much I'm sure he wouldn't me sad and your son either God Bless we will all get home soon either long way or short way but on God's time .
It’s 2024, I’m 17 and listening I love this kind of music. I really wish there were people doing this today. Glad my parents raised me right. God bless!
As a kid I loved this song, at 52 I understand this song and love it even more. Life is short, I'm going to take the long way home any time I want to. ❤
This is one of those legendary songs that you loved as a kid when you first heard it but didn't truly understand how true these lyrics really are until you are married with kids and grandkids 30 or 40 years later.
Well its part of the American dream where if your wife starts acting funny. You can have your own disasociative disorder. Don’t really matter if it’s spread right. Couples fall out of love at an alarming rate.
Many sweet and bitter memories over last 40yrs years from this song, my dad played it all the time when i was a kid, but now even as a 50yr old it still sounds fantastic.
Sorry for your loss, may he rest in peace. We also played this song, along with Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin for my dad's funeral. Lots of love 💕
@3hooks781 right when we're u born I was in 1971 ..to me the 70's had the greatest music of any Era...I loved being a teen in the 80and I loved the 90's bit the 70's is my childhood and all the different musical sounds ❤
Played this song at my son's Celebration of Life Party. The theme we chose in honor of Shane was. Take Time To Make Time! This was the message we believe he wanted to leave everyone. Make time for what's important to you. He was definitely a Take the Long Way Home kinda kid. I don't know what he might have been if he'd had more time, but whatever it was it was gonna be great!!! However in his 21 years here, he significantly left an impact on everyone he met!!! This song always made me emotional but now I can't hear it without crying for my baby. Relax n Chill son, because you are on a luxurious permanent dream vacation! I'll be there when it's my turn, until then I will stay strong & play our songs!!I love you Shane! 7/15/2000-8/16/2021❤❤❤
Growing up in the Deep South in Mississippi in the 1970’s, imagine the shock of my brothers when l discovered this song and played in constantly! Why? Because in my neck of the south, black teenagers didn’t listen to this type of music. You can imagine the ribbing and being ostracized by my peers in 1979 as a HS senior! I didn’t care! Music is a universal language and SuperTramp was one of my favorite groups during my senior year!!!! Rock On!!!!
I completely understand! I’m a black Baby Boomer and I love this song ( which is how I came to see your comment as I looked it up on UA-cam to hear it). My late husband( also black) also loved it. When we were dating, we used to enjoy it on the car radio. My musical tastes range from Marvin Gaye to Blood, Sweat and Tears; from Aretha Franklin to Carole King and more. In my experience, diversity in all its forms has always added joy to my life and continues to do so.👏🏾
I was 21 when I first heard this song, it was the summer of '79. I loved this song but never really understood it, not at a young age when the world seems perfect and promising. 43 years later after many successes and failures, this song is almost a life's anthem of what hasn't been fulfilled, and may never be. I completely get it now.
Well said my friend. Your words mark you as a "real" person, something in very short supply these days. EVERYONE is introspective but FEW will convey their feelings to others. I really have no interest in being around people who aren't "real".
And by the way: my dearest friend died on June 30th 2022; a day I will never forget and a guy I will always sorely miss and at the same time, be glad that we were close or closer than brothers for 51 years ! I will never completely get over it . ..
@@VerbDoesStuff That's a nice picture and I thank you for trying. But for all of the dreams that do come true there must be a few nightmares. I'm just speaking for myself here, I don't wish to bring anyone down here.
When my mother died (this October will be 25 years) as my dad and I got into the car after her funeral as I had turned on the radio, this very song came on. My mother loved Supertramp and their music. This was one of her favorite songs.
I LOVE this comment. That was her final dedication song to you two. That's so beautiful.. your mother must have been an angel. Not everyone is lucky enough to get messages like that from their loved ones after they pass away. I really hope it gave yous some comfort at that time when you needed it most. reading your comment brought genuine tears to my eyes for the first time in years. I rarely cry for my mom, because I know she's somewhere that is better than here. There is something after here and I would assume whoever-she-is is better then this Earth, because mama was an angel. Perhaps our mothers have crossed paths in the great unknown at some point ❤ I'm not religious but I do have a spiritual side somewhere in there .I do believe, 100% there is something after here. This life is just one of many pit stops; that's the message I got from my mother in a dream I had, shortly after she took flight to the heavens and left papa and I behind. That was 17 years ago. she was letting you know that she's okay . I really would like to believe there is something after. My mother left me and my dad a message also the night that she died. She left one of my dad's tapes on the bed at night. He woke up to it by his feet. When I came in to say good morning he was shocked and without words. As we both went down the stairs to try and eat something, they're in the middle of the kitchen also was a box. The box was for me. It was filled with many confiscated albums from various rock bands she took away from me when I brought bad reports home from school. Mama was a no-nonsense type of person if something was confiscated you never saw it again. I saw things that I hadn't seen since I was a small child in that box. Items that my dad didn't even know she still had hidden away. He thought she tossed em long ago. This album was in my box that she returned to me.
I was 27 and just divorced in 1979 . Loaded my doberman in my Chevy Monte Carlo and hit the road from Houston . Went to Pikes Peak and turned around and came home after two weeks . This song got me thru it . I was a mess . 6 months later met my 2nd . After 40 years , I'm still a mess!
In 1979 I started a long way, I was 15 years old and I left home. After a long way back home I can say that it was worth it ... today I started another long way ... I discovered that the path is more important and interesting than the departure and arrival ... luck and new paths for you.
I have Multiple Myeloma, stage three. Diagnosed in December of 2019, I’ve practically drowned in chemo. But, I’m still here. I’m here for my wife, and special needs son. Yes, I’ll make sure I take the long way home.
It didn't and still doesn't get any better than this. I literally took the long way home every time I heard this song. Hats off to Supertramp for this timeless masterpiece!
Yes I remember dad who was in America. We met him back in America. After 3 months our dogs died for sadness, because of a civilian war coming to my mother land.😢 God wanted me to be here in America. I am 64 years old now and alone. I miss my parents and my mother land.
May God bless you, 😢I can totally understand what you're feeling, a lots of my Family Members even my Daddy aren't here anymore and he played the Supertramp 's Album over and over again!!!@ Love you my Daddy and our whole family!!!!❤❤❤❤❤😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
So, you think you're a Romeo Playing a part in a picture show Well, take the long way home Take the long way home 'Cause you're the joke of the neighborhood Why should you care if you're feelin' good? Well, take the long way home Take the long way home There are times that you feel you're part of the scenery All the greenery is comin' down, boy And then your wife seems to think you're part of the furniture Oh, it's peculiar, she used to be so nice When lonely days turn to lonely nights You take a trip to the city lights And take the long way home Take the long way home You never see what you want to see Forever playing to the gallery You take the long way home Take the long way home When you're up on the stage, it's so unbelievable Oh, unforgettable, how they adore you But then your wife seems to think you're losing your sanity Oh, calamity, is there no way out? Does it feel that your life's become a catastrophe? Oh, it has to be, for you to grow, boy When you look through the years and see what you could have been Oh, what you might have been If you would have more time So when the day comes to settle down Who's to blame if you're not around? This song to me instantly brings me back to being a 9 year old boy in 1979 when Breakfast In America was released..if only give the chance to take one Album with me to heaven, it would definitely be this one!! Thank you Supertramp for the Amazing Music throughout my life!! Hope each and everyone of you TAKE THE LONG WAY HOME!! GOD BLESS!!
59,,,, best album ever!!! was a teenager, on the lakes in the summer, water skiing our asses off, bare footing etc,,, Living it the F up.... Best times of my life.... hands down!!!! Dad had the 8 trac and cassette of this... hahahaha Cant say it enough, best times ever, best album ever!!!
Fast forward to 2021. I just now realized the total relevance of the Breakfast in America album cover, which I never really thought about when the album originally came out. New York is built completely from dining room table fixtures like salt shakers, coffee cups, etc. The World Trade Center is made from sugar cubes. All the ship berths are knives, forks, and spoons. And the waitress is the Statue of Liberty, replete with paper crown and lofting a glass of orange juice in the air instead of a torch. The entire scene is being viewed from an airline passenger window. Maybe all this stuff should have be obvious right away, LOL, but it's taken me all this time to actually appreciate the creative genius here.
now imagine all those lazy viewers had to get up and go buy the goddam album like i did and everybody else who hasn't watched this video uploaded BY SOMEONE not affiliated with the band.
@annaritaranalli1791 meaning it should've stayed on the top 100 Bilboard charts longer than it did; but it's definitely one you can put on any playlist for sure, and music of this era sounds way better than modern music by a long shot
Truly one of *the* greatest harmonica riffs/solos of any song that has ever been conjured up by anyone, in all of music history, and there are very few of which that equal it. Not to mention that the entire song, itself, is one of Supertramp’s (and Roger Hodgson’s) greatest creative triumphs.
Been listening to all sorts of music since i could walk, mid 70's btw, and i like to think i have an ear for a tune/ band etc , growing up in the uk back then the choices were limited, 3 tv channels, top of the pops Thursday evening, radio playing a big part of growing up hence songs stick in the memories, supertramp were a band i was aware of but never ventured further with growing up, i now plead guilty of not paying attention to a band that couldn't come close to the size and impact that the stones zeppelin the who etc had so casually dismissed them, i apologise for that, they are so fucking good.
Dont feel that way, Im pushing 70, you may never realize how important you are to someone. Take your remaining time to do the best you can, be as important as you can to as many people as you can. There's lots of opportunity out there in the world.
I'm 72. This will be played as I'm being lowered 6' into the Earth. From where you and I began. See you at the end of the beginning. 'Take the Long Way Home'.
I'm almost 65 and was blessed with a good voice. I would sing at numerous places and events throughout my high school and college years and this is the song I would warm up with. I'm still singing - and I still warm up with this song!
This is literally one of the best songs ever. Its so very profound and it speaks to me and music listeners in general so much..i cant speak for anyone else but oh boy...
@@delshoemaker7616 1979 should have been the year we all turned ourselves over to The Party to be released from ungood thoughts. Then came Reagan and Thatcher. ...long time ago, when I was sixteen years old I was suspected in english grammar school by the teacher, so I took a melancholy feeling about the melody , raised by the charming of SUPERTRAMP... ...now, any years later, since I`ve been aged up to october 2024 for fiftyseven years, I become melancholy again, looking back to my youth, thinking about the happiness in my life, which has been brought by this great Music Artists.
I love the surge in Supertramp love!!! The most underrated band ever!! Genius originality. I was 14 in 98. None of my friends got them or liked them.. My dad showed me them. Brilliant band!
I am a middle aged man now listening to this song from my youth. Tears came to my eyes at the thought that younger generations will never again experience the great time I had growing up in America. Truely sad.😔
I saw them in Concert March of 1979 in Norman OK, @ the Lloyd Nobel Center.. After finding our seats I looked around the Huge arena and saw my sister with a friend seated behind me a few a row back..Amazing concert

“when you look through the years and see what you could’ve been, oh what you might’ve been if you had more time.” As a youth, you don’t have the wisdom to see the power in this message. What’s really tragic is that by the time you realize and obtain this wisdom and want to act on it, it’s too late.
I think this is the saddest song in rock ‘n’ roll history. The lyric "when you look through the years and see what you could’ve been, what you might’ve been, if you’d had more time “ is absolutely gutting. Especially when you are looking at 50.
Try listening to the Crisis What Crisis ? album. Every song on the album is better than this song. Founder Roger Hodgson's favorite album. Listen to the music not the words. Words are for books.
Or 55! But you just have to swallow the bitter pill & cope with it. But I can relate. It's important to remember that it's our society that ultimately makes us feel that way, not necessarily failure or whatever other negatives we all tend to dwell on. After all, who truly sets the standards?

I’m 25 yrs old next month, I know this song from my Dad, and I always loved it. I own this record in my own personal record collection. And I like reading the stories from folks who listened to this back in 1979. It’s beautiful what things pass on through the generations. I’m glad this song has such a rich history. 😊
Hey bud I'm 32, when I was like 11 and my brother 10 my dad brought this as a CD and that's how me and my brother knew supertramp lol I'm glad your dad gave you a similar experience 😊
My 28 year old daughter has this, Logical Song, and many other gems from Supertramp on her playlist rotation. Its wonderful to hear this great music has been passed down through the generations for you as well!
babarrett1 I was 21 years old when this album debuted. And beginning born and raised in Orange County, CA. It was a helluva time to be alive. Was it perfect .? No. People say we have progressed since then ,I'm not so sure about that . If I could go back I would in the blink of an eye. There's a certain girl I worked with that I would like to talk to.
I drove up to Sacramento to visit my family. Late Sunday night I headed out to get back to the NV Test Site in my 70 Hemi Challenger. As I was rolling along those brightly lit freeways, not a soul to be seen, this song came up... I swear he was talking to me. I DID take the long way home. I found myself at the 40 Mule Train road/Borax Mine, south of Edwards parked alongside the road crying my eyes out. I got my stuff together and changed my life. TY Supertramp!
@@neilgale2292 It was one of those 'Nights'. About a year later I got into a race with some idiot in a blacl Lotus out on the freeway east of Barstow. I back out of it at 155MPH. As I crossed the border into Nevada I saw his crate in the divider, all screwed up. Common sense over Valor Brother!
Same thing... I remember my friends and family doing the Disco rounds, and I wanted to be a part of it so I could dance, too, but they all said, stay home.
At 53 yrs old this song holds a lot of memories for me when I was a little girl!!!!! Spent a lot of time with my uncles who grew up in the 70s and Supertramp was one of their favorite groups. Times were so much easier then!!!
One of the very best songs of an era. Super Tramp hit a grand slam out of the park with this one! How could you not feel good when you listen to this song?
Not sure how you can see this is a "feel good" song. It comes across as an eerie warning of some sort. Something that would play in a movie after someone makes a bad decision.
Listening to this song and reminiscing about the past has driven home a cold, hard reality....at least for me. You "can never go home again". At my age, its a brutal and sad realization. Enjoy your life when your living it and NEVER have regrets.
I understand what this song is about it's about the opportunities that we miss in life and the Fate that happens to us when we miss those opportunities
There was a season when my mom played this album nonstop everyday while she drove me to school when I was a child. I couldn't understand the beauty of this songs back then, I only knew I liked them. Now as a musician, I can see where my influences came from, so I thank my mom for my good taste in music !!
its 1979 all over again when i close my eyes. 17 cruising town listening to this not wanting to go home. Now im almost 60 and can relate to this song once again. "if you"d had more time..."
You still have a lot of time. Sure, here on Earth, there's more time behind you than in front of you. But there are still great things people can do in 20 or 30 years----you'll find an adventure.
You can get a Honda CRV nerd-mobile or Pilot if you have a family now though. I just remember saving my money for "that" car I just HAD to have or dreaming about the one I couldn't afford. Today? I do want an SUV as a primary vehicle and am in the market but you might as well just stand in the lot, spin around and point while saying "I'll take that thing or whatever, in black" Actually I remember doing that in 1999 when I needed a sedan for work/sales purposes....."That thing I guess, in black".
Herd this song on Clarkson The Farm ,brought back so many memories ,the good old days ,life was hard but much simpler ,my girlfriend used to play this on the cassette in the car ,we played it over and over
I was eighteen and a new mom picking up my baby girl from the hospital. This song was playing the first time I held my child so many years ago. This song is one of my favorite songs because of the memories that I share with it. This song holds the most important memory of my life and too that there will never be a better and more beautiful 💜 song
60 years old and still loving this song. When this song came out I was the "joke of the neighborhood" and *a part of the scenery" Listening to these lyrics still brings comfort to me. Life sometimes offers redemption and anyone out there listening never give up. The last 11 years I've been working with teenage foster youth. I'm so blessed to have the chance to help other kids who feel neglected and have experienced loss to work toward healing.
At 64 yo this song still speaks to me. Years ago I got the privilege of getting front row seats at one of their concerts in OKC. Best concert I have ever been too.
In the late 70s I was judging at a dog show and Supertramp was playing that night on the same grounds. For hours during the day they did countless sound checks. It was almost a complete concert. They were one of my top three bands at that time. Bliss.
I recommend you check out Kaleo, Nathaniel Ratliff and the night sweats, and the Lumineers. These three are really good bands. They make wonderful music.
This reminds me of my dad! He introduced me to this song we listened to this in his car all the time! 2 years ago my dad took the long way home and he made it. Miss you dad!
@Goddard Bolt yeah..... go easy father mine...... go easy and sadly you should be joined by your one true love sooner than later I'm afraid..... she did you proud though.... never did she even look at another man after you died...... she is truly dedicated to TIL DEATH AND EVEN AFTER NEVER SHALL YOU PART!!!! NO matter how much we tried to get her to even just socialize with other men..... she refused to have even a close friend afraid that she might be doing something that would go against her vows...... and disappointing you...... no matter how badly she needed to be treated like a lady and hugged every so often...... please dad, don't be too hard on her for being so...... strict with herself...... you know she was ALL YOURS..... and NOBODY else's..... no matter how much she NEEDED it in the 37+ years since cancer finally ripped you from our lives..... she never took off your rings..... and never forgot her vows...... I'm afraid that sooner than later she'll be reunited with you and I'll do my best to not let my hateful sister tear what's left of our family apart
UA-cam algorithms work now and then... Came to hear the song for the first time a couple of days back.. absolutely magical !! What an incredible time the 70s and 80s were... Simply indescribable
My dad was sent this album in the early 1980s when he was part of a record club. We all loved it, and it was played in the car for a long time. It's my soundtrack to a great summer holiday we had in South Wales in 1984.
At 63 and dying of brain cancer. Now this piece doesn't sound so morbid. It sounds like an accurate telling of so many of our lives. We want, but not always get. And sometimes what's best is to take the long way home ....

This album is a masterpiece. Way to underrated.
The best album of the 70s a very unique treasure like Neon Pearls 1967 album
It's the 4th most selled album in France, so in my country, not so underrated
Thanks you for your response. Viva france😇
Really not underrated. Especially if you were around in '79. Several top 20 singles from it.
Sold four million copies in the US alone and over 20 million copies worldwide.
Rock On!!!!
As a Black woman, who grew up in the NYC suburbs, I understand where you're coming from. There is great music, and everyone should listen to it!!
Wow. There are no words. GOD Bless.
.
In my experience, diversity in all its forms has always added joy to my life and continues to do so.👏🏾
I’m a yankee from New York and I agree with you 100%

Definitely not Underrated.

Stupendous. Cool word. it should b used more often. indubidiently(sic)

Beautifully said. So many songs from back then hit me differently now. Baker Street is another one.

I will never completely get over it . ..

When my mother died (this October will be 25 years) as my dad and I got into the car after her funeral as I had turned on the radio, this very song came on. My mother loved Supertramp and their music. This was one of her favorite songs.
Strange even my Mom love Supertramp back in the 70's, when she was in her 50's .
Supertramp reached / broke age barriers, like the Beatles .
Mom's got good taste supertramp is the shit god bless you
When Shane's Aunt was otw back to our house after Shane's going home party, this song came on her radio in the car, it was Shane!!! 😭😭😭💔
Beautiful about your mother ❤

Well, take the long way home

All the greenery is comin' down, boy
And then your wife seems to think you're part of the furniture
Oh, it's peculiar, she used to be so nice
When lonely days turn to lonely nights
You take a trip to the city lights
And take the long way home
Take the long way home
You never see what you want to see
Forever playing to the gallery
You take the long way home
Take the long way home
When you're up on the stage, it's so unbelievable
Oh, unforgettable, how they adore you
But then your wife seems to think you're losing your sanity
Oh, calamity, is there no way out?
Does it feel that your life's become a catastrophe?
Oh, it has to be, for you to grow, boy
When you look through the years and see what you could have been
Oh, what you might have been
If you would have more time
So when the day comes to settle down
Who's to blame if you're not around?

Having viewed that exact cityscape on approach to Newark international many times and never realized that.you are spot on my friend

“when you look through the years and see what you could’ve been, oh what you might’ve been if you had more time.”
As a youth, you don’t have the wisdom to see the power in this message.

I'm 69. It took me 50 years to find a home. Thank you Supertramp, I'm still a dreamer
I’m 25 yrs old next month, I know this song from my Dad, and I always loved it. I own this record in my own personal record collection. And I like reading the stories from folks who listened to this back in 1979. It’s beautiful what things pass on through the generations. I’m glad this song has such a rich history. 😊
Hey bud I'm 32, when I was like 11 and my brother 10 my dad brought this as a CD and that's how me and my brother knew supertramp lol
I'm glad your dad gave you a similar experience 😊
Both of your parents have excellent taste in music, as does my dad, lol.
Love to hear this, always keep your musical mind open! Keep Rockin Buddy
TY Supertramp!
hemi challenger thats cool hi from australia
@@neilgale2292 It was one of those 'Nights'. About a year later I got into a race with some idiot in a blacl Lotus out on the freeway east of Barstow. I back out of it at 155MPH. As I crossed the border into Nevada I saw his crate in the divider, all screwed up. Common sense over Valor Brother!

Classic masterfully created songs like this are why I am glad I am 58 years old, and came of age with some great music. Was too young for disco - LOL
count yerself lucky :-)
Im 62 and cruising listening to this ;-)
We weren't too young for disco....we just hated it.....1963...class of 1981 you little shits..smoking grass 40 years..yep
You weren’t too young for disco!!!
C’mon!
Same thing... I remember my friends and family doing the Disco rounds, and I wanted to be a part of it so I could dance, too, but they all said, stay home.
The harmonica ... oh man! At 66 It takes me back 50 years, when I was still a young man who just wanted to love the world.
At 53 yrs old this song holds a lot of memories for me when I was a little girl!!!!! Spent a lot of time with my uncles who grew up in the 70s and Supertramp was one of their favorite groups. Times were so much easier then!!!
Ditto and ditto Dawn
Same, Dawn...I'm 55 and this song (and others of Supertramp) remind me of being at home with my mum and dad as a little girl...memories!
Read the lyrics finally
yeah man don't know how you could feel good listening to this. the harmonica sounds like a scream for help from a dark fate.
Listening to this song and reminiscing about the past has driven home a cold, hard reality....at least for me. You "can never go home again". At my age, its a brutal and sad realization. Enjoy your life when your living it and NEVER have regrets.
Yep 👍🏻
So true!
I dont believe any of us will breath our last...without regrets
I understand what this song is about it's about the opportunities that we miss in life and the Fate that happens to us when we miss those opportunities
But also allowing yourself to grieve through it all.
There was a season when my mom played this album nonstop everyday while she drove me to school when I was a child. I couldn't understand the beauty of this songs back then, I only knew I liked them. Now as a musician, I can see where my influences came from, so I thank my mom for my good taste in music !!
my mom listened to this i was surprised cuz she never liked this genre i want to play it for her shes 83 now
One of those that never gets old.
Had this album when I was in my 20's. Understood the meaning then. Feels no different today; just no longer on a stage. Unbelievable 😆😆😆
the hell you say... WHAT ARE YOU A LATE BLOOMER. 1979... AKA: EASTWOOD THE TIME TRAVELLING ALIEN.
Ditto
I was in England ...bought it in Brighton and as an italian young kid I learned all the songs words. At that time every LP had texts written.....
its 1979 all over again when i close my eyes. 17 cruising town listening to this not wanting to go home. Now im almost 60 and can relate to this song once again. "if you"d had more time..."
Never more time! One thing we'll never get back!
I was 27, now I'm almost 70... This album, by the way, was a Grammy winner. "Technical Excellence" was the category...
You still have a lot of time. Sure, here on Earth, there's more time behind you than in front of you. But there are still great things people can do in 20 or 30 years----you'll find an adventure.
This song is a masterpiece.
Yes, it is!!!!
This whole album is a masterpiece.
God .. Life was so damn awesome... and we had no idea...
True
Best comment I’ve seen in some time
Wasn't it though??!! 💙
You can get a Honda CRV nerd-mobile or Pilot if you have a family now though. I just remember saving my money for "that" car I just HAD to have or dreaming about the one I couldn't afford. Today? I do want an SUV as a primary vehicle and am in the market but you might as well just stand in the lot, spin around and point while saying "I'll take that thing or whatever, in black"
Actually I remember doing that in 1999 when I needed a sedan for work/sales purposes....."That thing I guess, in black".
Oh yes we knew .
I lived while listening to Supertramp realtime. Special. Music brings back memories. Keep them coming.
Herd this song on Clarkson The Farm ,brought back so many memories ,the good old days ,life was hard but much simpler ,my girlfriend used to play this on the cassette in the car ,we played it over and over
Ziggy from behind the mall? 🤔
Clarkson brought me here too!

Song gives me goosebumps .The day of my mothers funeral i played this over and over .Miss my both of my parents so much

When this song came out I was the "joke of the neighborhood" and *a part of the scenery"
Listening to these lyrics still brings comfort to me.
Bliss.
The album cover reminds me of 9-11
Very iconic, best wishes from the wirral, across the pond..E

A fine classic and a work of art that rings true musically and lyrically today. ✌️
I'm 67 they don't make music like this anymore it's rare and it's a shame
I recommend you check out Kaleo, Nathaniel Ratliff and the night sweats, and the Lumineers. These three are really good bands. They make wonderful music.

Im 33 and agree 💯. My dad taught me good music.
I'm 35 and agree with you 100%
This reminds me of my dad! He introduced me to this song we listened to this in his car all the time! 2 years ago my dad took the long way home and he made it. Miss you dad!
Hold onto the memories.. That's all we HAVE... RIP ❤️
Nice memories hopefully....

The song and the record cover, unforgettable.
Oh yeah, better days.
@@HighSpeedNoDrag Funny, our parents were saying that about Ricky Nelson when this was on our AM radios.
Still have this album since 1979!
Yes, it has to be one of the best album covers ever!
The cover and the whole album are both masterpieces.
I’m so happy this version is finally on UA-cam I’ve wanted to hear it for many years.
