I really love how hes trying his best to not burst out laughing when saying "SPACE"
It’s spelled SBACE
The subtitles address it as spice
You can tell he was trying not to break down laughing. Reminds me when he played Darkness in the theatrical release of Legend.
Either that or he's so maniacal that he's laughing to himself at the prospect of him being so maniacal, fits the character, and the actor
You can never really tell if he’s trying to not laugh or he’s just getting really into the psychotic madman Archetype. Personally I go with a little column A little column B
If Tim Curry is having fun, you're having fun.
I absolutely agree.
That's entirely not true. He murders people and eats them. Especially small children. He hates small children.
And people driving their motorcycle around in his kitchen.
I was thinking the same thing!
It is not just Tim Curry’s fun, it is OUR fun
How to not laugh, I want to have his toy :P
A wise person once said: "For every one star movie Tim Curry was in, he was the reason that movie got a star"
Ah yes, Tamara's character in the Home Alone 2 review from Nostalgia Critic!
@@IAmInfinitus208 That is such a deep cut 😭
Hell yeah.
What one-star movie did he do?! THEY'RE ALL 10s!
Are you posting this comment on every Tim Curry video?? 🤔
1:50 His look of "know what I mean?" kills me every time.
🤣🤣🤣

Hehehehe.
I hope my comment brought you back here once again just now
HIS CURRIE!!!! hahahaha
Puppy puppies!!! Hahaha
2:58 the way he says "SPACE" always gets me, always fully wheezing laughter until I almost can't breathe
For me it's the heavy breathing and maniacal grinning to contain his laughter before he says it. It's such a glorious piece of footage ahahahah
@@illegalopinions4082 I wish more modern games had FMV cutscenes
Ss-u-PAY-Khshss
Shhhhbaaaaasssse
Literally crying laughing right now omg ahahahahaha
Honestly, the fact he's holding back the laughter adds so much to the character.
Instead of being some super serious Soviet badass, he's like a smiling bureaucrat who is excessively pleased with himself.
It's kind of creepy now that I think about it, but it's also just great.
Oh, and the "SPACE" line gets me every time.
I want to like this comment, but you're at the nice number.
Also Tim Curry is the master of being creepily hilarious.
It’s also a bit fitting, giving his betrayal near the end of the Soviet campaign.
The held back laughter has been his thing for 50 years. You can hear it in his voice no matter what he's acting in.
So true
@@ShawndaPrawn spoilers
I love that the Soviet actors had such a blast shooting this. Also love that they leaned into the B movie aesthetic, Tim killed this role
I felt so bad when I learned Tim Curry suffered a stroke that nearly completely paralyzed him. Such a fun and charismatic actor doesn’t deserve to be silenced like that. I hope he recovers!
I believe he will be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life but although he now speaks more slowly and slightly slurred, he is still able to do some voice acting and even singing.
Yeah makes me sad as fuck. He is a treasure 😞
Strokes are terrifying
His joking skills untouched btw
I seem to recall that he's gotten a bit annoyed over people's well-wishes. To be fair, it's not like he died, so I can understand his irritation.
He started out very strong but you can see when he starts to think about what he’s saying that he starts to realize the absurdity of the line, before almost losing it, and then triumphantly exclaiming “SPACE!”
The Red Alert series; where the actors playing on the Soviet side always are having the most fun.

Yeah. These beings what we got means they were the least-laughy takes.
Everything was single take
According to commentary, it was the first take at the end of a long day.
Tim Curry doesn't fail. He finds sexy alternative ways to succeed.
I don't think he was giving them more than one take, lmao
He isnt holding back laughter. He's just excited to have such an exemplary soldier on his employ and it makes him very happy
Tim Curry is a treasure. His face when delivering that space line always makes me laugh till my sides hurt. Thanks for making this video, it was fun.
3:05 Everytime I rewatch this his urge to fight back laughing just before the line has become my favourite part.
I hope he had SO much goddamn fun
That face was a product of him unable to hold his laughter, you can see it slip through a few breaths
For real! It's become a running joke in my house now..."SPACE!"
i was mid way through drinking something and trying not to spit it out in laughter while listening to that line is the hardest thing I've done all day.
I love how Tim Curry always seems to enjoy every single act he's in.
If you can either be happy or miserable, why be miserable?
I think he's wise enough to understand he has one of the best jobs on Earth: easy, very well paid, makes you famous... I can't abide moppy actors feeling sad for themselves.
I mean, that guy is the supreme chairman of Soviet union, has the miracle commander steamrolling allies, all those hot women around and he is blasting off into freaking space. Living the dream.

I'd still like to say that my favorite fact about RA3's development is that they PHYSICALLY could NOT get Tim Curry to do the Space line without giggling or laughing. The original line wasn't supposed to, but he LITERALLY COULDN'T STOP HIMSELF after 8 takes, so they decided "Fuck it." And put it in the game with the giggling intact.
how did you get to know that? some documentary of sorts? please, I wanna watch it too lol
8 takes is not alot at all, im sure this was planned, cause the other ones are similar too. They know what they where doing
Its not unusual to do 40 takes if shit doesnt work. The fact they only did 8 speaks volumes
@@MrMegaMetroid For a real movie yea, not this.
According to Joshua Basche, assistant cinematics editor for RA3, this was the first take:
"It’d be these long takes of them just sitting there reading a teleprompter as lines came up. It was towards the end of the day, and you could kind of tell Curry was tired, he wanted to get out of there. But then that line comes up. And you saw the smile pop onto his face when he read it through first. The first take was that take. It’s so bombastic. It’s so fantastic. I think he did exactly what he wanted to do."
But who knows, they might've done a bunch of takes and eventually decided on the first one anyway.
@@gustavogoesgomes1863 They're repeating something some internet rando made up. It's not true.

then he's super earnest when he says "bottoms up, nikolai"

The face he makes at 0:20 feels like meme potential xD
His facial expression reminds me of Radcliffe from pocahontas lol

There's incredible acting from incredible actors, and then there's Tim Curry in this game clinging to this character with every last fibre of his being. That is some strength and willpower in acting there!
Tim looks like he cant look in less than 2 directions this entire montage

These cut scenes were so good, better than any crappy CGI.
So unappologetically cheesy at times, still love it to this day.
God I just love him in this part, he knows exactly what he's giving us.
His face to the camera after looking at the tea lady is the greatest Tim Curry moment there ever will be
He looks like someone behind the camera is trying to make him laugh and he's trying not to be bothered by it lol
Tim Curry, international treasure and the best thing in any production he's in.
The space part is probably my all time favorite quote from Tim in Red Alert, it's just so random and the way he almost bursts out laughing is just the icing on the cake.
Squeaking chair's Russian accent is impeccable. Not to mention the fact that it can hold its own in a scene with the man and legend Tim Curry himself. I'm surprised it wasn't awarded aptly for such contributions as the hero of the Motherland it truly was
yeah underrated subtitel :D
1:53 I can hear the fucking vine boom sound effect.
Tim Curry glaring like the rock years before.
Tim is clearly having fun with his bits here, love seeing these because of it!
He just looks like he's having such a good time.
That slow zoom at 1:15 dude, I can’t breathe 😂
I wonder how many times they had to reshoot scenes because the actors keep breaking out into laughter, like this seems like it must have been a blast to act in given that Tim Curry is visibly corpsing at times and is barely holding it together at times.
Probably 2 times
There's something about him trying not to break into laughter that makes his performance as Premier Cherdenko even better. It actually feels more like a dictator trying not to laugh at the fact that he's geniunely enjoying his position of power, instead of an actor trying not to corpse their lines. Fantastic casting all throughout Red Alert 3, but Tim Curry really hit it home.
How does that little smug grin fill me with such joy?

I like how he almost broke character in the SPACE clip but the director was like, "yeah let's keep that in the game."
I'm laughing my ass off from these videos! You're a master Red Alert memer, up there with Scorched Earth. Keep it up!
Scorched Earth, RZD - Legends.
That precious smile alone is already the best reason to play the Soviet campaign
That zoom at 1:15 actually made me laugh out loud
And Tim delivered the line "It is good to be alive" after that zoom makes it perfect.
The phrasing 😂
„Glad to see you up and round, sir“
Yes, both of you
Honestly Tim Curry has never had a bad performance both in live action and voice-overs. Everything from him is just gold. 😂
And the fact he's clearly having fun with it makes them wonderful performances. The character does not need to be serious, so the constant twinkle in his eyes is actually just an extra layer.
0:37, the amount of medals is ludicrous! Jajajaajajaja always laugh my ass off.
Kutuzov literally blocking a shrapnel hit in the chest with all of his medals and orders be like:
Even better that Communist dictatorships are WORSE than this, even. It's based on reality. Just look up North Korean army medals on their generals- it is unbelievable. They almost look like Race Cars.

I love how they just "fuck it we'll use this shot"
One of those examples of perfect casting.
I really respect that he didn't look down on this, or get bitter, he showed up ready to have some fun
I love that he both gave it his all, and also didn't take it seriously in the slightest. He knows how goofy it is.
he probably read the script and was like "this is gonna be my best career in acting. Will totally put this in my IMBD"
Adding tim curry into anything instantly makes it better
If anything, it adds to the performance. The primer is a very eccentric and exuberant character, so him always on the verge of geeking just makes sense.
