I live in Northern manitoba where most lakes are uncharted and this feature on my helix7 has made a difference in finding fish in lakes I've never been on. And now waiting for ice to fish the areas I've mapped already. Lake trout, burbot, Walleye and giant pike here I come. 😋😉
One of your best videos. Great job thanks. I have a new Helix 9 and its my first with this capability. If this “spring” ever starts I will be out making use of this video in my boat. Thanks again.
Looking forward to the autochart pro tips. Changing from 3 foot to 1 foot contours really made my autochart live recording better. Thanks for the tutorial
I'm going to apply this to a couple spots on Lake St. Clair. Very subtle depth changes on the lake, just a big bowl, I can map out a few areas with 5' drops
If you're mapping how does this affect preloaded maps in regards to the depth offset or whatever it's called(The setting you have to change for when water level is abnormal)? You're videos have helped me familiarize myself with hummingbird as opposed to other brands while researching. I'm actually going with hummingbird because of you! Thanks for the great content🙏🏼🙏🏼
Well done. I have liked and subscribed. Keep the videos coming. Looking forward to the next video. I have AutoChart Pro on my PC and enjoy playing with it when I can’t be out fishing.
Do you mess with the min and max vegetation settings at all? I can make an area at a maximum all green and at a minimum spots of green. I am unsure where the weedline actually starts.
One thing i recently started doing is "saving current track", this gets rid of the boat track lines. Unless im fishing very large lakes or shallow bodies of water where i want to follow the same way out that i went in, then ill keep the boat path track untill im done for the day. The boat track can be used to find your way home in the dark. Tight lines
Just got a new 7 in 3/2021. Trying to learn mapping but several options confuses me. You are the Man! So...will a standard mini sd card, record the maps I've made with only the 7 autochart recording? I have not put to boat yet so knowing ahead of time will really help me, incase i did not a purchased zero 1 or lake master chip. Again, you are the man and appreciate the way you do your videos.
No unfortunately you will need the zero lines card to collect all of the data which comes with the mini sd card inserted into the regular size. Hope this helps and thanks for the great comment
Thank you! I like to turn the autochart live off before turning the unit off. I have lost data before by just shutting the unit down. The only reason I dont record all the time is because the zero lines card will fill up eventually depending how long you record. Thanks for the comment Rod
Great video thanks. For me you missed a key componet by not showing after mapping as you did how to bring up or install a Navionics chart or lake master and putting the sonar map you just made on top. Nobody does this in any video I have watched so far Would also like to see how this information gets transfered to Humminbird PC that I bought.. Thanks from Algoma Region, Northern Ontario😉
Yeah that is possible, I could do a video on that but it's actually pretty simple. Hit the view button until u get to full screen gps. Hit the menu button once and arrow down to clear current track and arrow to the right
Thanks for the great video. I am in the shopping stage for a combo unit & have never used a chartplotter so please excuse my ignorance. I have been wondering if Side Imaging/Scanning can be used to map a larger bottom area contour more quickly with fewer passes or must you use Bottom Scan only. Either way, I assume the frequency setting would depend on water depth & scan distance. So if your down scanning in deep water at 455khz, how far apart do you space each pass of the boat? And in shallow water at 800khz?
Thanks for the great comment and question! The autochart live will record the same way no batter which frequently or depth you are in. It seem to record about 15 foot on each side of the boat so I'm ussually running passes about every 20 to 30 feet.
@@HumminbirdHelp Thanks for the fast reply. I kind of suspected that when you went into mapping mode the sonar kind of goes into an "Auto" mode and, it sounds like that is what may be happening. If so, that answers my question about using Side Imaging/Scanning. I have been searching high & low for generic instructions on the basics of how to create a map to answer questions like the 2 I just asked. I have not found any information on the basics for map creation for an ignorant newbie like me. Your video at least answered the boat speed & run pattern questions. Everything I have found wants to show you how to setup a particular brand for chartplotting. Do you know of any sources of real basic map creating tutorials that would roughly cover all brands of fishfinders without getting into the setup steps? Thanks again for all your help & a great video.
can i copy the AC data from my zero lines pro card to a dedicated 32g card that has separate lake named folders and use that card in my bird? or must i transfer them as needed back to my zero line card? this is where i get confused.
Ok I'm now even more confused. What happens when you have a navionics card inserted? Does it save over top of that card. I'm talking about just using the free 8 hours and does it stay saved when you turn the unit off? Not sure how this auto charts works in conjunction with the Navionics card
Yes it will just over write on top of the navionics card and u can change the transparency so u can barely see it or the autochart will completely cover it
Hi.. I am mapping a 1000 acre reservoir in a zero lines card. I want to be able to see whole lake by scrolling on the unit. Can I do this without pc pro etc? This reservoir does not show on lakemaster so I am building from scratch
Can we use the simulator mode to understand AutoChart Live ? When your are in simulation mode and we go in the card view When I create a waypoint can I see the boat going at this Waypoint in the screen ? When I create a route can I see the boat follow this route in the screen ? When I create a I-Tack can I see the boat follow this I -Tack in the screen ?
Say you have an area mapped and you're heading over it again on a different day/year. Does the program overwrite the data you have there or does it record as new eating up more memory? I'm guessing if it over writes it would have to be tied into the GPS...maybe?
If you do auto chart live and overlay a lakemaster map how will follow the contour work? Will it follow your auto chart live contour or the lakemaster chip contour?
Yes sir! Once you record for 8 hrs of autochart live on the humminbird just stick in the zero lines card and it will ask you if you want to transfer to the card
Can u tell me if I need regular auto chart in order to run auto chart pro or can I skip regular auto chart and just buy pro and have all the regular stuff plus what pro offers or would I need regular auto chart pc software to run auto chart pro ?
Please tell me why I cannot see my shaded path as I am charting when using auto chart live. Software is updated and is gn4 unit. What screen do I go to after hitting record and what settings to get the shaded area each side of boat to show as I chart?
After you hit record on go to full screen gps and hit the plus button till your at 100 ft. If you don't see your autochart live data hit the menu button once and go to autochart. Then scroll down and make sure your recording is visible
You can just store the autochart live data on the computer. Once winter comes you can drag and drop the files from the computer to the zero lines card and stick the card in the humminbird. Then turn the unit on and while on the full gps screen cursor over to the lake you mapped
I’m new to lake map chips and autochart. I ended up getting the lakemaster chip and the zero lines card. So basically I really didn’t need the lakemaster chip right? Lol
I like yo have both the lake master chip and the zero lines card. I rarely autochart the entire lake or will the zero lines card hold that much data unless it is under a few hundred acres. Use the lakemaster for traveling and have your good fishing spots autocharted overlaying
True to a point... the mapping is GPS related.. so if you anchored on one spot and (like this would ever happen) and never move.. it won't record and new data cause old data is still current.. even if data changes.. it won't use anymore room.. just changes input to those cords..
I made autochart maps with the helix 7 G3N. Option-folow the contour- is not working on my i pilot link minn kota and ... I record autochart in internal memory of G3N.. I dont have -zero line- card. Is that problem or what?
If you have the zero lines card you can use your computer to open the sd and delete the data from whatever dates you autocharted. If your are only using the Internal memory for recording, once full it will just start overlaying the new data over the old automatically
It does and then once it fill up the 8 hours of internal memories your done u less u wanna delete what u have and keep recording. Otherwise u will need a zero lines card for lifetime recording
I've been trying to figure out how to use the AutoChart Live. I've watched a bunch of videos on it. This is the best one I've seen. Thanks.

Can you do a video on setting up a minn kota autopilot on a track recorded with a autochart?😊
Can you make a Autochart Live/ smartstrike video tutorial showing how to use both with one other.
Yes this is something I can def do in the next few weeks!
Does the helix have different icons you can use for waypoints? Like a brush icon or rock icon? I couldn't find them on mine.
great tipps, thanks
Autochart live has def been a gamechanger since lake master maps on my lake are not very accurate

How does frequency setting between say 80 or 200khz effect the autochart data or the size of the cone and how quickly you can cover water??
No matter what frequency you have your 2d set at the autochart live will always record the same distance out from the boat
Do you have to use the zero lines card or will any sod card work?
The humminbird unit itself has about 8 hours of record time but beyond that the zero lines card will be needed. Ive yet to figure out a way around it
@@HumminbirdHelp I assumed I could use a regular sd card.

If you do auto chart live and overlay a lakemaster map how will follow the contour work? Will it follow your auto chart live contour or the lakemaster chip contour?
Great question, it will follow the autochart live recordings unless you turn your overlay transparencies off
Thanks I have noticed several times the 2 different contour depths off from each other by several feet.
if you record with out the acl card, will the helix still follow contour lines that you made?
Yes sir

How i can return from my garage in winter to a lake i chart with AutoChart Live this summer

Can you use Autochart Live and smartstrike at the same time. Or smartstrike only works LakeMaster ??

I record autochart in internal memory of G3N..
I dont have -zero line- card.
Is that problem or what?
How do you erase prior auto charts from lakes that I recorded prior?
