This is an M3B (see 1:33), not a Medeco High security lock. It has no hardened steel balls protecting the screws. It is designed for low security applications to be keyed in with high security locks. The keys for the high security locks can be made to operate this lower security lock to reduce cost in non critical places. Video would be much better if you could show that this D8X can overcome the hardened balls protecting a regular M3 or the M3's two hardened steel anti-drill plates or the 3 anti-drill inserts in the plug and stainless steel tumbler pins and hardened bearing ball on the stainless steel sidebar. The M3B has none of these. You could do what you showed here with a regular drill bit.

Good Eye! I didn't even notice the UL listing was missing from the lock face or that medeco even made an M3B! The M3B (aka. Medeco3 BiLevel) is quite rare due to it's low security but I'm surprised that it took at least two dewalt drills to gnaw through the soft brass body (1:10, 1:59) . It was probably because they're using carbide cutting tools when a regular drill bit would work much faster on low security locks such as the M3B. Probably took them 45 minutes.

I have been drilling Medeco & Mul-T-Lock deadbolts like this for decades with a 1/4 drill bit and done it a lot cleaner as well as more accurately to the point where I could easily plug and retap if really necessary. The tool used is a carbide burr not a drill bit.

Did it have the ball bearings in front of the screws? If not I can do it with dewalt pilot point drill bit in seconds.

no matter what high security deadbolt it is. I just use core puller easily pulll out the core and use a screw driver to open it in 3 min or less.

Core puller is great but they don’t always work some locks are designed to have areas that snap and break while your trying to pull the core

I would love one of those bits but I doubt you send them to Canada

This appears to be a M3B, significantly less protective against drilling than the secure-certified M3

Thanks Pea! we appreciate your wisdom! It's a good thing that a Licensed Locksmith with 1000's of other tools that can do similar illegal actions wouldn't do this though.
Good luck with your quest! Let us know how the breaking and entering goes! Send some pics!

Not really. From pausing the video this is actually the M3B (BiLevel) which is not security certified against drilling like the M3 is

This is a BiLevel lock. Not UL 437 rated, so your product is not adequate for drilling high security locks.

I dont think it was really that easy to break through the medeco maxum 11. It is much harder to do so.
