If theres any mold or mildew in the inside, vinegar dilluted with water will help kill it. Downside is it'll smell like a salt and vinegar potato chip.
There is a good bit of mildew inside, which is mostly vinyl. I start with a simple green scrub down and finish with glass cleaner it cleans right up. But the vinegar and water solution is for the carpet, thats what will take the funky smell out. Or the lysol spray has worked for me before too
