Reviewing philips hue lights during daytime is genius! :)
Thank you so much for not leaving out the part where you set the placement, no one seems to show that you set the height and that’s what I was worried about. Thank you 👍🏼
👊 welcome
Made that tv area just look EPIC at night 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Agreed it does look awesome
Woooooow 😱😎 your one hand skills are amazing 😉
👅
@15:44 wrong, it will not give the same effect. The play bars can display 1 colour at once. The Gradient & PLAY Gradient (the one you got at the back of your TV), can display different colours PER LED module, hence the name "gradient". You can get an entire Scene up, with all 5 colours with 1 gradient lightstrip, but for example, you would only get 1 of the 5 colours of a scene in 1 Play Bar.
Very nice. Thankyou for your video. Alot of information.
Your welcome 🙏
Conor Mcgregor doing UA-cam now , is there anything this guy can’t do haha love the video mate
😎 😂😂😂 cheers mate with I had his money tho, even 1% would probably do me
@17:13, another mistake... The lights will not be detectable by the Hue Bridge if they have been left plugged on mains for more than 30 minutes without pairing them.
YES JACK!! :)
😍🤙🤙
Thank you so much for the video. I love it. Quick question, so if you have a sound bar for the TV, does the sound bar still go into the TV or go into the sync box instead? I’m trying to set it up in a way that I can sync the hue lights with just music playing on my sound bar via Bluetooth on my iPhone without turning on the TV.. bit of a twister lol
I have the soundbar into the tv
But if you go on the sync app and select music and connect it with a Spotify account you can sync it that way instead of through tv, hope that helps
Great video jack I have them behind my computer monitors
Thanks dude
Yeah they are sick
I love your accent wallpaper
Thanks I don’t 😂😂
If I watch everything from my Xbox do I need to run hdmi to the tv and Xbox or just the console?
Xbox to sync box
Sync box to tv
Then everything else just runs to sync box so only 1 hdmi to tv
Probably a stupid question but does the light need a wall to work or is it bright enough that it can work without a wall?
There very very bright so I would imagine if your screen was in the middle of open plan room it would just be blinding from behind
Can anyone help me in finding what the ‘power supply’ mini box thing is called at 3:24. Lost it and cannot find a replacement anyway
Play bar power supply?
pmsl when u said mrs will hit the roof but she will be lit up
😂😂😂👏👏
I want one now!

Does it work on hulu or Netflix any app like that? I have everything but the strip
Works with everything aslong as your playing it through hdmi, if you play it directly from smart tv it won’t sync
Did the plug-in allow you to plug all the appliances into just one plug or did you have to plug each one in individual into a different power slot
I have 3 plugged into one transformer, how long it lasts and if your supposed to is another question 😂
If you have a soundbar in your HDMI 3 ARC , do you keep it in the TV ARC ? Or do you put it into the HUE SYNC BOX ? ???
Soundbar I’ve got in the hdmi ARC so I can control it with 1 remote no need to put it in sync box as there’s nothing to copy onto lights
@@JRCElectrical ah thanks to answering ! I have another question! If you could help! So I’m looking at getting the Phillips Hue gradient 55” light strip for my 55” TV with the Phillips Hue Sync Box. I seen that the Hue Sync box power brick has 3 inputs for power ? But I also see that the gradient light strip comes with its own power brick to plug into an outlet. So I’m confused ? Does the light strip not connect to the sync box ? Please assist me with this as I’m wondering how many power outlets I’ll need.
@@WooDeWow no worries, none of the lights plug into the sync box as that’s just for hdmi leads, it then communicates via the bridge to your leds
So currently my tv in on the wall with hdmi burried to the bottom, I have hdmi sync box on the floor side with 1 power brick, then behind tv I have the tv plugged in and another power brick for the leds
If both were going being tv they could both be powered from the 1 plug
@@JRCElectrical so what’s the three inputs on the sync box power brick for ? Is that for Play Bar lights and not the gradient light strip im assuming then ?
@@WooDeWow yeah it can be for any other lights I would imagine
But it costs more than the TV!
Wow. 😯
Well, it would be a Wow wouldn't it... when all the kit is sent out FOC. But paying retail even with a "Bundy10" off it's more a kick in the Nutz! ... than a wow.
So you still get a Wow for your one handed shuffle [I'll let your missus explain 😉] video. Niceeeeee.👌
And Nil Pois for all that Philips kit. 🙄
BTW.. just did little tot-up of these bits and your looking at £570... just for a pretty light effect behind your telly. 🤔
Niceeeeeee little earner eh. 😅
More like the truffle shuffle with me mate 😂
@@JRCElectrical let's hope you never make a vid of that... eh? 🤣🤣🤣
@@Sparks1Plumbers0 that’s for a different platform 👀 😂
I always love your comments, but this one tops it 😂😂
How do you like it so far?
Yeah it’s awesome, colours are good and very responsive
Great vid I've got the actual Philips ambi light TV it's great for watching TV of a evening ,not suitable for dark background ideal on white, keep up the good work 👍🏽
Ahh cool I bet that’s awesome these are class at night.
Thanks dude
It is awesome, with mine I can have it set with different colours of flags from different countries, probably able to do it with yours not sure Union Jack colours look great
No way that’s awesome
All was perfect but a little dissapoint you not show and explain when you put the cable to hdmi sync box and the bridge box slowly
😞
@JRCElectrical if you have time can you do the one that explain which cable put in to which one it will be really good for people who doesn't know English well like me. Thank you so much
How many of the hue devices need to be connected via wifi
The hub is wired and then they connect to the hub, on this video the strip and both lights connect via the hub
It's Connor McGregor!
I’ll take that
@@JRCElectrical Al fight eny maaaan!

No tengo idea, si tienes algún problema, contacta con Philips y mira qué te dicen. podría ser un problema con tu wifi tal vez
Is the HDMI input/output 2.1?
It’s 2.0 I believe 😞
@JRC Electrical yeah sorry, after writing I used Google haha. But, it seems they have a new TV App which mirrors anything on the TV screen including built in apps. So no need for 2.1 pass through anymore it seems. Also, half the price of that 2.0 box. I believe the app is £130 ish? I dont know a lot but this is what I've just read.
@@PhilHurndall I saw this aswell I think it’s only on new Samsung or lg tvs tho, I might be wrong
@JRC Electrical yeah, like I said, I'm no expert and only just started reading after my first comment. Great video by the way, I found it very useful as an introduction.
From what I've read, I believe you're right. It was some deal they've done with Samsung and only from Samsungs newer TV's going forward.
Still great there's an option to avoid Pass through though!
That box will still be needed for other light fittings etc I believe... but im only interested in the TV side of things.
Wait there's no bottom lighting for the tv? For the price of all this that's SUPER disappointing! I have a 55" $80 Govee Backlight and it wraps around the entire TV
Yeah it only wraps around the sides and top, I’ve put the bar lights underneath to give the same glow all the way around
Does anyone have a link for the power supply extension?
Which one?
@@JRCElectrical the one you mention in the beginning of the video. :) for the sync box
@@Nicksbankrpt ahhh got you, you can just search hue play extension cable, I think that’s the one your on about
@@JRCElectrical is that for the lights or for the sync box? I’m looking for an adapter for the sync box, sorry for the confusion! I appreciate you getting back to me! :)
@@Nicksbankrpt I can’t remember off the top of my head but I’m sure the power supplies are all the same for the play and sync components, I could be wrong tho
You have curtains to make it dark! 😆
I do indeed sir
21st! 😁
😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly fella I have a Philips ‘ The One’ TV and an hub plus 4 hue bulbs and it blows that set up away, £260 odd squid for the sync box is a right waste of coin.
Also your flowered black and white wall paper is making it worse, you can set your (single) wall colour in the app but I find a white wall behind your telly works wonders.
The whole room will be re done eventually and it will all be installed into a media wall,
I’ve seen the tv with it all built in and it’s AWESOME
@@JRCElectrical Yeah I’m really happy with the set up but it gets a bit addictive lol, I’m already looking at more bulbs for the open plan kitchen/living room when I can get around the missus…
😂😂😂 we install a lot of smart products and the Phillips hue is by far the best quality for colours and speed it works at
6-700 dollars… crazy.
@29:56 the angle is not ideal, at all and it won't make the light go "farther" or "throw the light back further". It will make the bottom sides look brighter than the top side, no matter the setting, due to the different proximity from the wall & the angle of the TV.
Additionally, you may end up having issues when syncing because you have all your electronic devices near each other. The Zigbee channels on the bridge, Bluetooth from the tablet/phone to the sync box, and the sync'ing of the lights may suffer along the way due to all the interference caused by having all of them on top of each other. Not to speak about the heat from other devices. You work with electricals, you should know better.
Hey you seem like you know what you're doing. Can u pls give me suggestions? I have a 27 inch monitor. I have 3 light bars and 2 hue bulbs (I'm in a 40 m2 room). Where do you think the light bars should be? And my only e27 socked is behind me but I bought a socket extender with adjustable tip for 2 bulbs. Which direction should the bulbs face? Towards me or..?
@@babblebabble Hi, I face my floor lamp with Hue bulb ( B22 bayonet fitting I think?) facing away from me and the chrome shade slightly angled up towards the ceiling…I then set up the position of the lamp in the app along with the ceiling hue bulbs..
I run this through a Philips ‘the one’ ambilight 50” tv with a hue hub, it looks the business mate and can’t wait to add a few more bulbs throughout the open plan living room/kitchen……word of warning tho ..it gets addictive lol.
very sexy, and the lights as well... Noice!
Why thank you sir
Update...
Your Promo code... failed😂
Classic🤭
It’s not live yet I don’t think 😂😂😂
Sry but your wallpaper and wall you put the TV is very very bad for any lighting setup as those flowers are distracting when lights over them and you don't have enough opening at sides for the lights work. Testing lights with sun light in the room is another failure. Sry..
I no all of this, as I said in the video we are building a media wall there but the excitement of having the lights got the better of me so I had to set them up 😂😂😂
There will be another video when it’s all done don’t worry 👍
@@JRCElectrical Good!
