Hi, I have the problem that you experienced with the light sync not working with Dolby Vision content. I have changed cables using 8K-quality cables and the Hue Sync box passes the Dolby vision & Atmos to the TV but lights simply don’t sync. Before I try the Belkin Cable, could you please confirm that your Dolby Vision Content also syncs with the lights?

Could you use an hdmi splitter to plug the Apple TV or PlayStation both into the sync box and directly into the tv simultaneously? Would this for example bypass the issue of 4K 120hz which you can’t get via the sync box?
I think this does work as I’ve seen it in other videos as a “solution” but 4k 120hz splitters seem to be very expensive at the moment. Unless you’ve found a cheep one.. ?

@@hauntinglime5489 if you're splitting the signal than the Hue box would receive a "dummy signal" with no pass thru to get the correct video to sync with the lights and the other side of the splitter would be connected to your TV. However to get a 1 in 2 out HDMI 2.1 splitter while still maintaining 4k 120 Hz is either imposable or prohibitively expensive
Good evening. Glad to have found your video, but I am not convinced by the cable issue in my setup. I use Blustream precision cables and I just cannot get the device to work with DV. I'm in the same boat, can't get the hdmi box to pass through a picture to my SONY TV. The lights work with what's supposed to be on the screen, but black screen ! Using Phillips certified 8k cables.
Same problem here! When I turn on my PS5 connected to the sync box, the lights react to the picture, but nothing on the screen. My fix: turn on PS4 that is also connected to the sync box, then select PS5 from hue app and then it shows the PS5 image. Extremely annoying, but so far the only fix that I've been able to find. Suck my shitty asshole PHILIPS!!!
@Scott thank you for posting this video. I've been working through the same issue for months now with Philips and our Hue Sync. Similar story, now they've just told me that my Samsung LCD 4k TV is not compatible with their device because it uses Samsung's OneConnect HDMI input box. I don't recall seeing this limitation on their site prior to purchasing, and it's the first time after months of sharing details about my setup, that they've actually flagged it as a cause for the signal drop (blank screen, lights off, no sound). I'm curious if your TV uses the same setup as the OneConnect, or if any other viewers see the connection. Many thanks for creating this video
Hi jason I had the same issue. This is how I got my setup to work all the time 1. Take out all HDMI connections to your sync box, and then Factory reset your Phillips hue sync box. 2. Make sure you are running the latest firmware for the sync box. You can download and check this on the Sync App. 3. Now Set it up your SYNC BOX like this: -Sync Box HDMI OUT TO TV connects to the ONE CONNECT BOX HDMI Port 1. -Sync Box HDMI Port 4 connects to your APPLE TV, FIRE STICK, or any device you use to stream. **If you have a sound bar connected using a ARC port connection, DO NOT CONNECT it directly the sync box. Even though Phillips says this works by enabling Arc bypass on the app, it can cause issues. ⁃ Connect the sound bar directly to your ONE CONNECT BOX HDMI ARC Port 3 or whatever port is labeled with ARC on your one connect box. Now Go back into the Hue sync app and begin the setup process. After you have completed this double-check in your sync app settings that ARC bypass is toggled ON (if its not on your sound bar volume will not be that loud and the quality of the sound is poor) *** Also, in the sync app, ensure doubly vision enhanced capability is always toggled OFF. This does not work all the time And can cause you issues*** I Hope this helps! Dimitri :):)
@@Dimitrinyc holly sh*t thank you! I’m going to give this a try and report back. Phillips eventually sent me the reference showing that NO Samsung TV has been verified with the Sync box. since our tv is almost 12 years old we decided to keep the sync box, and replace the TV with an approved brand once it fails or we get tired of sync’ signal drop. Still very annoyed by this approach by Phillips TBH, it feels very hostile toward their premium customer in what’s becoming a very crowded market. Not feeling much loyalty as I plan my next home automation project.

I also actually have the same problem with my sync box, je all my device have no vidéo signal on my tv, when i wake up a device on my sync box, cec work and woke up the tv but no vidéo on the tv, only the ambiante Light...... Will double check my sync box yo tv hdmi câble now, cause I'm using the one with sync box, i have made many cross test and no result.... I will never imagine the hdmi câble give with the sync box can be the issue (cause it came with it....) really great when it work (already use it 3 years now) la but have this issue with my new tv..... It's really a "non sense", Philips give hdmi câble who don't support sync box (or all the possibility of the sync box...)
I am using mi box 4k with hue sync box. My problem is when I switch to mibox it starts flickering like, black screen shows up then mibox appears and it continues for almost 30 seconds to get stable. I used hdmi 2.1 cables for all connections in between. I tried to turn off the cec but nothing worked. At least it starts on begining and when its stable it never happen again during content. Anyway its annoying. Actually eventhough I like it, price doesn’t worth it. Its really expensive. It seems better to by ambilight tv it self. With this price range without hdmi 2.1 is disapointing. Actually I use govee t1 for my gaming tv instead of hue sync box. I like it and price worth it eventhough its not as good as hue syncing. I use hue box for my tv. I heard that lytmi fantast 3 supports hdmi 2.1 and its very good like hue sync and considering price range its overall better. Maybe in the feature I sell my hue setup and give a chance for lytmi or govee. This price range on hue setup and these problems are very disapointing…
Hello Scott, first of all thank you very much for finding the damn problem, I don't speak English and UA-cam won't let me translate your video, could you tell me if you have to change the HDMI cable of the Philips and the extras you have connected to it, such as the ps5? Thank you very much again and I love your crazy head haha!! greetings from Barcelona
Change cable does not fix all issues.. this amazing product (more than 200 eur price), does not work with dolby vision.. incredible but true..yes, specs say that dolby vision is supported, but not syncronize lights..
It’s not that they aren’t finished, its just we have the technology to make products progressively better through firmware updates. Which really makes since because you will only run into a limited amount of issue in house. It’s not until millions of people have your product where you can do firmware updates or mayb im just to old to remember when this wasn’t a thing.
It seems that i only connect it with my PlayStation... If i want the Lights to go with the screen. If i watch normale tv i can only use 1 color but it doesn't go with the color of my tv screen
Good advice, thanks for sharing 😊 Yeah, typically firmware updates should be done and as a software developer myself, I can understand why it’s necessary (especially as tech and standards change over time). But, with such a premium device, pretty egregious for them to include a cable that wasn’t capable of pushing Dolby Vision, sheesh.
My sync box says it's synced, but every 10 seconds the lights not responding for 1 second, then kicks back in and works fine for another 10 seconds (ish). Anyone have this issue? 8k cables all the way and updated software..
Ummmmm HDMI 2 & 4 on the back of the box are the only HDR compatible for apple tv. It says in instructions. HDMI 1 & 3 are just normal 4k & 1080p ports.
Hmmm I so wanna buy this but now hmm, should I? Woow I just came to 5:30 now hell ye so I just need to buy a new cable xD No haha wth they should upgrade their cable following , thanks for the video/info.
Very expensive and a clumsy set up..should be a all in one box plug and play…shouldnt even need a Hue bridge to separately control the box..more plugs in= more failures.
Scott… you do know… that we know you returned the sync bo right? You say you had it setup and didn’t touc it for months, but everyone on the forums knows you’re cheap and returned that thing just before the last receipt return day no hit.
LOL I still have my Philips Sync Box, Gradient strip and two light bars in place to this very day so not sure where you are getting that information from LOL
Laughing at everyone who paid over $500 for something that does not work and you could've paid less than $200 for the same thing that actually does work

I think this does work as I’ve seen it in other videos as a “solution” but 4k 120hz splitters seem to be very expensive at the moment. Unless you’ve found a cheep one.. ?
Good question but i have no idea as i do not have any game consoles to test :-(
@@jp1310 hey man I can’t wrap my head around this. How does this solution work for eg I have ps5 currently hooked into my sync box but I’d love to use the 4K 120hz and the sync box together but only 4K 60hz is supported by the sync box. How will a 4K 120hz hdmi splitter bypass the sync box limitation?
@@hauntinglime5489 if you're splitting the signal than the Hue box would receive a "dummy signal" with no pass thru to get the correct video to sync with the lights and the other side of the splitter would be connected to your TV. However to get a 1 in 2 out HDMI 2.1 splitter while still maintaining 4k 120 Hz is either imposable or prohibitively expensive
Good evening. Glad to have found your video, but I am not convinced by the cable issue in my setup. I use Blustream precision cables and I just cannot get the device to work with DV.
Also, on hdr movies the lights stop syncing after anywhere between 10 secs to 2 minutes.
Can you share your Apple TV setting!
Also… the first 4K atv had a DV mode, this is what I have but DV just doesn’t work. Would love to work this out for me and many, many others!
My initial issue with the Apple TV 4k 2020 version appeared to resolve itself after a firmware update and with it running in HDR mode on the Apple TV. Replacing the cable only worked on my 2021 version Apple TV. I will send a short when i get back tonight to show you my Sync ox and Apple TV Settings.
@@scottpinhorne did you get the original ATV running Dolby Vision? Mine just won’t, except in compatibility mode, which is a real shame. Perhaps I need to switch ATV unless you are able to confirm the old box now works with the new setup?
@@rjboodell I don't have my old 2020 ATV to try now but the 2021 is working fine and i just have this selected in ATV - ua-cam.com/video/iREEyenBVuc/v-deo.html
@@scottpinhorne still no joy for me and awaiting tech support to get back from Philips.
Did your new Apple TV have any chroma settings to alter? My Atv is just not playing ball with DV, such a shame because the rest of the content is exceptional with the lighting effect
I have the Same Problems with my Sky Q Receiver and ordert the Belkin Cable today. Hope it work.
Hope it fixes your issue like it did mine.
I have had 3 sync boxes first one stoped after few hours would not even power up when see light nothing sexond one lasted 2 weeks then just black screen forever tryed allsorts nothing so got 3rd all free as philips did it after going mad at them and now had this one over a year works sofar 👍
All my HDMI cables in my connection chain support 18Gbps but it does not solve my black screens.
I’m having this issue as well as my soundbar will have a crackle/pop every now and again.. Phillips hue is blaming my JBL soundbar but when i disconnect the sync box this never happens.. I’m using expensive hdmi audio quest cables (cinnamon) I dunno what to do
when that happens, go to your hue app, click on da sync option, then go for the 3 dots on the right top corner, choose automatic control, and then you have to disable CEC power state detection, USB pwer state detection, and new input detected, and then click on HDMI device turns on and disable the first option that should say Laptop. You are very welcome.
does it support display port?
I'm in the same boat, can't get the hdmi box to pass through a picture to my SONY TV. The lights work with what's supposed to be on the screen, but black screen ! Using Phillips certified 8k cables.
I’m having the same problem! Did you ever figure it out?
Hi jason
I had the same issue. This is how I got my setup to work all the time
1. Take out all HDMI connections to your sync box, and then Factory reset your Phillips hue sync box.
2. Make sure you are running the latest firmware for the sync box. You can download and check this on the Sync App.
3. Now Set it up your SYNC BOX like this:
-Sync Box HDMI OUT TO TV connects to the ONE CONNECT BOX HDMI Port 1.
After you have completed this double-check in your sync app settings that ARC bypass is toggled ON (if its not on your sound bar volume will not be that loud and the quality of the sound is poor)
*** Also, in the sync app, ensure doubly vision enhanced capability is always toggled OFF. This does not work all the time And can cause you issues***
I Hope this helps!
Dimitri

@@Dimitrinyc holly sh*t thank you! I’m going to give this a try and report back.
Phillips eventually sent me the reference showing that NO Samsung TV has been verified with the Sync box.
since our tv is almost 12 years old we decided to keep the sync box, and replace the TV with an approved brand once it fails or we get tired of sync’ signal drop.
Still very annoyed by this approach by Phillips TBH, it feels very hostile toward their premium customer in what’s becoming a very crowded market. Not feeling much loyalty as I plan my next home automation project.
@@Dimitrinyc Looks like this worked. We're a few days in, have not experienced a signal drop with this setup. Many thanks
Hey @Dimitrinyc I was just doing pre-purchase research and was about to NOT purchase the sync box, because I have a Samsung Q7F that has a OneConnect box, but you're out here along with Scott and Jason here down below, saving freaking lives. I appreciate you ALL for posting the video, the question, and the thoughtful response. So@@Dimitrinyca year later does this still work? I know asking a stranger on the internet for help before spending hundreds of $ is a little crazy, but the One Connect has me concerned. Thanks!
Hey @@JasonGolden79 does it still work with the Samsung OneConnect box?
So I finally got my Hue Sync Box but I use my Apple TV to use e-arc to connect to my Homepod Mini’s. Every since I set up the Sync Box my Homepod Mini’s keep disconnecting, does anyone know how to fix that? I also use this to play my PS5 volume into the Homepod Mini’s but that doesn’t work anymore either 😔
Scott, are you still having issues POST software update to allow 1440p 160hz gaming?
Hi H. I don’t game or having anything to test this with so am unable to answer this one I’m afraid.
I hope the factory setup will work, otherwise I have to buy this too unfortunately.. I've spent almost a 1000 euro's to bub the lights, syncbox google assistant etc. So I hope I dont have to buy 6 of those cable's...
This sooong what is it ??? ♥️♥️♥️
So I had the same issues with my box, replaced the hdmi with good quality cables and it started working just fine ….. however it’s back to buggering about again and not sure why ! It’s the Dolby thing again and only way to sort is to manually put firestick into 1080p where as before was working just fine ! Any ideas guys ?????
Muchas gracias!!
Hi, yes I found all cables needed to be the high quality. Thanks for your question.
I’m having the issue only when I ply games, other than that movies work perfect.
Hi there! great video! Thanks for sharing.. already subscribed :)
Mines is stuck at “ready” after clicking the middle sync button
Hue sync box yeah it really starts to annoy me. I turn on my Apple Tv and my ps5 turns on to and vise versa plus black screen issues 😮
Change cable does not fix all issues.. this amazing product (more than 200 eur price), does not work with dolby vision.. incredible but true..yes, specs say that dolby vision is supported, but not syncronize lights..
Same problem! It was the freaking cable 🤦♂️
It won’t work with your TV unless your watching TV via another device like an Apple TV of Fire stick which would be connected to the hue play box.
Hi i had that black.screen its soooo easy to fix lol u tick all in the settings leave all on ticked and walla works not had one isuse for year lol 😉👍
None of that seemed to work for me and a friend but we both replaced HDMI cables and bang no issue LOL thanks for commenting.
@@scottpinhorne so the solution is by replacing the HDMi cable from Phillips?

I cannot get my sync box to pair , then move to next step
My sync box says it's synced, but every 10 seconds the lights not responding for 1 second, then kicks back in and works fine for another 10 seconds (ish). Anyone have this issue? 8k cables all the way and updated software..
This was my exact issue originally until I replaced with the bekkin cables
Ummmmm HDMI 2 & 4 on the back of the box are the only HDR compatible for apple tv. It says in instructions. HDMI 1 & 3 are just normal 4k & 1080p ports.
Hmmm I so wanna buy this but now hmm, should I? Woow I just came to 5:30 now hell ye so I just need to buy a new cable xD No haha wth they should upgrade their cable following , thanks for the video/info.
Love the content apart from one annoying little detail. Its HDMI. Not Hate-ch-DMI.
LOL Thanks for the comment Dean...
Very expensive and a clumsy set up..should be a all in one box plug and play…shouldnt even need a Hue bridge to separately control the box..more plugs in= more failures.
No subtitle ? no show!
So don't get an apple TV 🤔
Scott… you do know… that we know you returned the sync bo right? You say you had it setup and didn’t touc it for months, but everyone on the forums knows you’re cheap and returned that thing just before the last receipt return day no hit.
LOL I still have my Philips Sync Box, Gradient strip and two light bars in place to this very day so not sure where you are getting that information from LOL
Laughing at everyone who paid over $500 for something that does not work and you could've paid less than $200 for the same thing that actually does work
