The Philips hue app has recently been updated, to setup entertainment areas you can refer to my recently published video of the Philips hue app walkthrough here: ua-cam.com/video/GN_wtGaxXdU/v-deo.html
@Darius Steven Wallin - So for you to use apps like Netflix they must be run from a device connected through the sync box. Since the TV doesn’t pass through the box your smart apps can’t sync.
@@QasimZafar Thank you brother! Now I know how it works. Wish you all the best and really appreciate your fast response Great channel btw! Keep up the good work brother God bless!
@Jeannie Ellis Hi thank you for the kind words I really appreciate it 🙏🏽. Glad you enjoyed the video as that’s always the goal, take care and be safe 😊✌🏽
@@QasimZafar hello, i did everything exactly how you explained , but my hue box stop at this part: i managed to connect at wireless, after i need to confirm the connection and press power button (3 seconds) and release it when is green. Led turns red and stay like that, but i cannot connect to it. Tried multiple times, reset it, started again from scratch, no success. What to do anymore please?
I have been buying two Philips Hue products every month. I now have 36 lights in my home and am finished purchasing smart lights. My next purchase will be the Sync Box. Been looking forward to this for a while. Wanted one but wanted to get all my lights first.
@ Chaoitcme - Hi hope you are well, I’m happy to hear you love philips hue as well. From bulbs to all the other products they’re really well made. They last long and trust me when you finally get this box you’ll enjoy the light sync. Let me know how it goes and if you need any additional help. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽.
@David Edwards - You’ll enjoy it even more as time passes…the price pays for itself with the enjoyment you get when watching movies etc. hello 👋🏽 back from Virginia! Take care and be safe 🙏🏽😊.
@Robin van Droffelaar Yeah the google home install is weird because the instructions from philips weren’t working for me. So I kept playing around with it myself until I got it to work. I’m glad I helped man the voice controls are a major plus because I love google home.
If you need to purchase the mounts I mentioned for the box you can get them here on my website: tinyurl.com/2zp5jlnt They’re also useful for mounting other things like the Apple TV, Fire Tv etc to the wall behind the TV for a clean setup 😊. If you have any questions live chat is available on the website: tekmomo.com?chat Your purchase supports the channel and is greatly appreciated ✌🏽🙏🏽
Hello, i see you have 2 Magnets. So i have to buy 2 mount packs to place the hue box in the wall. I am from europe, so with shipping i better buy it correctly 🤗
@@vindungen6759 Hi, yes you can buy two mount packs and also I’ve added a live chat option on the website so you should be able to message us directly and I’ll help you get your order setup. The mounts I’ve actually gotten updated so they have the adhesive backs built right in so much easier to apply. For the box you’ll be good with two mounts.
@omar garcia - That’s awesome as I also have been so pleased with my sync box and honestly can’t watch or play content without it. You’ll love the gradient strip, I switched to that from the standard one and it’s a game changer for sure. Thanks for the input and watching the video I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Thanks for putting so much effort in explaining each step in detail. I like your reviews and all the videos are so much informative. Please keep up the good work. Im waiting for the next video ✌️
To everyone watching, I’ve Pre ordered the new Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip for my TV. This light strip is multicolored instead of just single colored like the strip I have now. This should be awesome to sync with. As soon as it arrives I’ll do a first look video and then a setup one just like this one. So stay tuned you all and thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
Hi i have a new Samsung TV which has the one connect box all HDMI cables go into this and a single cable from box to TV . Is this Sync box compatible ? Reason i ask is i bought a HDMI extender as i ran out of ports and it did not work . Any advice gratefully accepted
@Lee Stringer - Hi Lee first of all thank you for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊. For the one connect box what you want to do is connect all the hdmi inputs to the sync box and then you’re going to run the cable out from box, into the in port of the one connect. For the hdmi extender, where did you connect it? Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions. Take care and be safe!
@@QasimZafar hi thanks for the prompt reply . I plugged the extender into the hdmi 1 port and into the output on the extender . Just kept getting unknown device
@Lee Stringer - If you want to connect the multi switch hdmi with the one connect you have to plug it into one of the inputs of the connect box. That should work for you 😊
Great man. I have never seen a step by step guide like this. Thanks for sharing 👍🏽 I might not be going to use this as these are really expensive here in India but however I enjoyed the way you guided through the setup process. By the way, are those light strips behind the tv also hue strips as well? And will this work without the bridge? ( The bridge is the most expensive item on this list ) Edit: I got answers after going through your other videos. 👍🏽
@Jeevan Raj - Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊. Oh that’s awesome glad you got the answers...this tutorial was the hardest video to do, had to reset everything and start from scratch with every step, along with also showing everything in the app. But glad I got it done because I wanted it to be helpful for everyone watching because this box can be tricky to get up and running, but once you do it’s awesome 😊
Thank you John I appreciate the feedback and you for watching! Yeah I have it disabled because the signal that it passes out just doesn’t seem the register. The box or what you’re watching thinks that you’re trying to record the content and that’s why the sync and even playback tends to stop entirely. This is something that Philips needs to address and solve with an update. Based on my knowledge and experience that’s all I know and I hope it helps!
This is a great video, but the one thing all tutorials have forgot to mention about is that Hue Sync does not work with your TV apps. For me I'm a Netflix or Amazon Prime viewer. It has taken me days to workout why my Sync box is not syncing. Now I know why. So to get this to work with said apps you need to stream it via streaming device be that an Xbox, chromecast or fire stick which is plugged into the Sync box. With the later two, open either streaming apps on your mobile, tablet or laptop and cast the screen to your TV. This will then have the Sync box work. It's annoying to have to do it this way and I do hope there will be a better solution in the future. Hope that helped some of your viewers.
@Chris White - Thank you and yes you’re right but honestly I started with the setup and so I figured that would be clear that the box needs devices connected to it to sync content. I get this question quite frequently so I’m definitely sure that your input will help. Thank you so much for your feedback and for watching the video, I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Erik Ence - Those are magnet mounts. I used super glue to attach them to the box. Glued two metal plates to the wall so they mount there and hold the box in place.
@Jay - Hey these are my own brand been selling them for a while. I’ve got them listed on my website: tekmomo.com/products/tekmomo-magnet-mount Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Good demo. I recently purchased the Hue Sync Box and I connected to Deco mesh network. For few minutes it will work but after that it gets disconnected from the wifi network often. The Hue Sync app will show connecting and then it will connect and again it will disconnect from wifi. Have you faced this issue.
Hey brother there must be something w ring with the WiFi network. That’s all I can think of. I myself haven’t had any issue (I use the google wifi mesh system).
@Julius Pasion those are ones I used to actually sell on Amazon. I’ve got a bunch at the house lying around. Are you in the United States? If so go to my channel home page and shoot me an email and I’ll send you a couple 😁
Hey what’s up buddy! Congratulations in advanced for such a successful video. I really like it helped tons of people. I have a little q… I recently bought my Samsung Q700 soundbar and plugged it directly to the tv but for some reason since day 1 I’ve been having a video “lag” when it comes to a black screen of 3-4 seconds before the video comes up. Any suggestion? I have the soundbar connected directly to the TV with HDMI eArc. My sync box currently has plugged in my Apple TV and PS5., sync box is connected directly to tv of course.
Yes, I am also happy with the Google home. I use it for the Philips Hue lamps and for switching the TV on and off and now also for the sync box. I hope you will also make new videos about the new ledstrip that I will also buy myself.
@Robin van Droffelaar Yeah google home is my favorite I use it for many things in my smart home. Yes Robin I’ve actually preordered the gradient lightstrip so as soon as it arrives I will do a video for everything related to that strip like I did for the sync box. Also check my google nest mini video if you’re interested, it was one of my first videos and I’m doing a giveaway for it. So you might be able to win an extra google device for your home 😁.
@allen Duncan - yeah depends on your projector setup you could totally use the hue sync desktop app for me. You can also connect the projector with the sync box as well I’ve helped a few people get that setup. If you tell me about your setup I can guide you! Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊
@kainthanvampire - thanks for the input you’re totally right 😊 I use the desktop app with my desk setup for my lightstrip and it’s great. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊
dont forget to buy 8k 48 gb/s hdmi cables for syncbox to tv. also every device to the syncbox wich you want to play 4k netflix with vision and atmos from. keep in mind every passtrough to your tv and to the syncbox need to be top quality. if netflix stops playing its all about data limitation from a cheap hdmi cable. the syncbox is have a 2.0b port wich is fast enough (4k 60hz)for atmos and vision. dunno for gaming, but stadia's hdr10+ works great with hue sync. most people blame netflix or the syncbox but that is not the truth, they just don't understand technology tested: netflix trough google home (voice)>chromecast ultra>sync box> 2.1 cable to lg c9. OK tested netflix: nvidia shield pro>hdmi 2.1 cable>syncbox>hdmi 2.1>lg oled c9. OK series: lost in space 4k atmos and vision.
@R B - Thanks for the info it’s really appreciated. I however haven’t had issues with Netflix and I’m just using a standard 4K hdmi cable. Thanks for watching and the input I’m sure it’ll help some resolve their issues for sure 😊.
I wish to purchase this sync box but I'm a little concerned because I've got all my inputs (Apple TV, cable box, Fire TV) going into the back of my AV ! I have to have it going in the back of the av, for me to able receive the best audio quality from that particular source! I was just wondering if it's there another way round it? If you were to click on the red Dragon twice you can see my setup and considering I've managed to get my TV plus furniture to have the FLOATING EFFECT all because of these smart lights, then this syncbox would certainly be the cherry on top! 😁 Not only have you got great presentation and editing skills but it's the way you explain things that does it for me! GOOD JOB
@Total Plonker - Checked out your setup you did a good job with it 👊🏽. Now you can add the hdmi sync box. All you’ve got to do is plug it up in between the AV and the TV. A couple people have done setups like that and it works great. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I appreciate it 🙏🏽😊
@Total plonker - Thank you so much for subscribing I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊. Cheers 🥂let me know if you have questions when setting it up as it can be a little tricky. I’ll guide you through it as I’ve done with a few others that have the same kind of setup 😊. Take care and be safe!
@ItzDexity - haha dude I feel ya I watched some movie scenes at first and I was almost blinded haha 😂. Glad you got it up and running and thank you for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊
hi great video.im new to all this phillips hue.ive just bought strip light and bridge I was wondering do I need to buy this hdmi sync dox as well for my tv light to mimic picture on tv ?
@wayne robinson - Thank you so much for the feedback! That’s a good place to start with the lightstrip and bridge. Do remember that the bridge is good for pairing up to 50 hue devices. For syncing lights you will need to get the hdmi sync box and connect your media devices through the sync box’s ports. Let me know if you have any other questions and thank you for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Why doesn't it work with built in TV apps like netflicks or Disney plus? Why do I have to play apps through a secondary device like an Xbox or Amazon fire stick in order to get the lights to sync?? This to me is a major flaw.
@Raheem McDermott yeah to be honest it is. But what actually happens is that for some reason when the apps are built into the TV. Apps like Netflix and Disney plus think the content is being recorded and therefore the sync stops and even the app will go blank all together. There should definitely be a fix for this in the future but for now it is what it is I guess :/.
@@QasimZafar I can manage.. i have plenty of different ways to stream these apps. Its just one more step that doesn't need to be there. Maybe they will work on a fix sooner if enough people complain about this. I really enjoy my entertainment center a lot more with this hue setup.
@Raheem McDermott Yeah I totally agree with you. It’s such an unnecessary problem :/. Oh yeah man hue is the way to go! I can’t wait for that new multi colored lightstrip to come in so I can set it up and do another video. That’s long overdue!
Thanks for one of the best sync box videos 🙏👍. I will receive my sync box and the gradient striplight this week. This is my setup for now: LG OLEDC9 65" Tv Box ---- Tv Hdmi 1; Soundbar (Samsung HW-Q80R) --- Tv Hdmi 2 eArc; Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 ----Tv Hdmi 3; PS4 (PS5 on the way)---- Tv Hdmi 4; How do you think i should connect with the sync box without losing Trued HD sound (Atmos, Dts-X) , HDR+, Dolby Vision? Thanks 🙏
Hey Adrian first of all thank you very much for watching and your feedback it really means a lot 🙏🏽. So the soundbar you’re gonna leave it as is connected straight to the TV. The PS4 (soon to be PS5 😊), the NVIDIA player and the TV box plug them in directly to the input ports on the sync box. Then just run one hdmi from the out port of the sync box to any hdmi in off the TV and you should be good to go 😊. Also you’re gonna love the setup as I really love my gradient lightstrip it’s a huge change from the previous strip and is just beautiful. Also if you play Cold War then we should play sometime. I have the new series s but that game has cross play 😊. Take care and thanks again...Do let me know if you have any trouble after setup and I’ll be more than glad to help ✌🏼
I have 2 play bars and 3 bulbs connected to my living room. But when I go to create entertainment area, it only allows me to sync to the 2 play bars and 1 bulb.
@Jack Frost - Are they all in the same room in the app? They should all be able to be added to the entertainment area…that’s really odd. You could also try removing and adding them all in again. Lemme know if any of this helps, haven’t personally experienced this issue.
@Ch Vicky - Hey thank you for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊. Any TV can hookup to it that has hdmi port so you can connect the box to the TV. You also need an external streaming device to connect to the box so you can have your content sync. Hope this helps and do let me know if you have any other questions 😊
@YoSoyMariela - So the blinking yellow light means that there’s an error with the box connecting to WiFi. Try resetting the box by holding down the button on the front for 30 seconds. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
thank you for explaining so well. I want to connect my smart tv but don't have a fire tv hub I just want it to use the smart tv but already have to plug that hdmi cable into the main one. Is there a way to use the smart tv instead of plugging in another device like the fire tv
@B. Cherry - Yeah they’re not coming anytime soon and this is definitely the best alternative. I’ve had mine for quite some time now and I really love it. If you have questions when you get it, feel free to reach out. Thank you so much for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Great video!!! From my understanding, the light only work if there is an input from the Sync box. So watching regular programs such as Disney/Netflix from your TV doesnt control the light?
Thank you for watching I appreciate it! Yes you need to have the inputs running through the box to have them sync. For example to sync with things like Disney plus if you have the app on an Apple TV or fire stick which is plugged into the box connected to the tv then the lights can sync.
Patrick Nelson - Thank you I appreciate the feedback. I’ve got some more Philips products that I’m working on testing out then I’ll have more videos for sure.
@Jim Ace - Hi in my case I’ve hooked up the sound bar directly to the TV via optical cable. Wgatever you’ve got you can hook it up straight to the TV. If it’s an hdmi arc then you can plug it through the box and just enable arc bypass from the settings of the hue sync app and you’ll be good to go. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions for me. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
I hope you’re still answering comments on this video! Can you see if there’s a setting in the sync app to enable “ARC” on any of the hdmi inputs? It’s critical for me because my Apple TV is connected wirelessly to my HomePods and the Apple TV needs to get an ARC feed over hdmi from the TV in order to play wirelessly. However, the Apple TV also needs to be sync with the lights, therefore it needs to go through the sync box. TLDR; I want my Xbox and Apple TV plugged into the sync box and audio being fed to the Apple TV through the sync box via ARC. Thanks! I hope you understand me wanting to confirm this feature exists before dropping $200+ on the sync box :)
@JB Nelson - Hey bud thanks for the question and I try to answer all comments as soon as I can. To answer your question there is an option to “enable arc bypass” in the settings. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
M Terrell - Hey thanks for watching I’m glad you found the video helpful. I used to sell the magnet mounts on Amazon. I’ve got a bunch laying around if you need some send me an email and I’ll send it out to you, did it for another viewer as well. Thanks again and take care!
@GregBadWolf - Hey brother thank you so much for the feedback i really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊. Glad you are enjoying the content and this video was my early days and I’ve tried to slowly improve over time so I can do even better for the viewers. Thanks again and take care ✌🏽😊
@Gabriel Loera - I don’t use cable either, all my content is through streaming services. You’ll just need to have a device like a firestick or Apple TV plugged into the sync box and you’ll be good to go. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊
If I want to can I have the sync box off and just watch TV with no lights ? I ask as I often fall asleep with the audio coming out of my soundbar via a Apple TV and a switcher but with the tv off, so will the sync box turn on when I power on the Apple TV ? or can I pick and choose
@MovieCaveDave - Yes you can most certainly do that. The sync box only comes on and starts when you initiate sync. Other than that you can do everything as you normally would.
Is there anyway you can sync them with applications within the tv? I have a Samsung tv and I watch UA-cam Netflix prime etc all with the tv applications without external sources.
@J.W. - Unfortunately not, the best option to having all those things sync is grabbing a fire stick and plugging it into the box. The content has to pass through the sync box for it to sync. Hope this helps and thank you for watching the video I really appreciate it! 🙏🏽😊
Hey brother I got sync box. And I have question I don’t have any fire tv or anything like that I use apps for tv so how can I sync those apps with my sync box please help me 🙏🏻
@rumitpatel2119 - Hey bro there is actually no way to sync using built in apps. You will have to have a device passing through the box in order for sync to work.
@Mr. Nobody - Yes once you’ve got your hue app all paired up than you can control the lights from anywhere in the world. All you need is a data or Wi-Fi connection 😊. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
How do tekmomo magnets do with vibration. I want to hang my sync box and atv to a wall; I have a subwoofer on my set up and was wondering if bass would cause magnets to fail.
@aure p - That won’t effect the magnets, I have a subwoofer sitting in the wall where I have my tv and I’ve not had any issues. The magnets are strong and also the adhesive on them is very strong. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.
Where can I find the HDMI sync box?? I was going to get the entire kit yesterday at Best buy but I only found the gradient light strip 65-in and the hue bridge, the HDMI sync box seems to be out of stock everywhere everywhere
@Dakota Watson - Yeah this has actually been an on going issue since last year during Covid 😢. What I’d recommend is order it through Amazon because that way when it gets back in stock it’ll be shipped to you. I just checked and right now it’s expected to be delivered September 27th. I’ll put the link down below if you do need it. Unfortunately nothing really can be done about this at this point but to wait. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊. amzn.to/3gA7isz
@Zoubeir’s World - The philips bridge that connects to the router is what’s responsible for pairing up and controlling these bulbs. The sync app and box. recognize the content playing and is able to send that info over to the bulbs through the network. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊
Great video mate. Question: can you use any HDMI cable to connect the sync box with the tv? Asking this because my OLED is already wall mounted and i don't want take my tv off the wall just to change cables.
Great video and keep it up !! I also have a question before I burn money and it doesn't work out as expected ... A complete combination would be possible: Sync box Signe floor lamps as rear set up left and right Gradient lightstrip I would be very grateful for your feedback! Regards Mo
Hi Mo first of thank you so much for the feedback and watching I truly appreciate it 🙏🏽. Man that’s a setup, I’ve actually always wanted the Signe floor lamps as they look so beautiful. I think that would be more than sufficient and give you a nice ambiance when watching content and great feedback when syncing. Hope this helps you and thanks again 😊
@Liam Alford - Hey thanks yeah when I was doing the video I wanted to include that because a lot of people have google home. Thanks for the feedback Liam I really appreciate it, glad you enjoyed as that’s always the goal 😊. Take care and be safe 🙏🏽😊
@@QasimZafar yeh I've been using Google now for about 3 years and wanted the sync last year when I came out but was like £220 🤔 not sure but more I've watch and then seen this from you it's made my mind up. Thanks again and stay safe to.
@@liamalford1782 that’s awesome yeah I love google home...such wide compatibility and those little minis are so affordable that you can throw one in every room lol. That’s awesome man, the box is definitely worth it I’ve had so much joy watching content and playing games on here. If you add a lightstrip then go for the gradient one...I’ve done a video on that one too...really love how it changes multiple colors. You too man take care and be safe ✌🏽😊
Do you have a soudbar below the TV? and if so, was it a pain to use with the sync box? I saw some issues but I think they were older issues. Thanks ahead of time!
@South Shore Saber Services - Hey thanks for writing in and yes that is a Sonos sound bar. There shouldn’t be issues nowadays when connecting sound bars. I’ve got mined connected straight to the TV via optical cable so I haven’t had issues. If you’re connecting one through hdmi arc then make sure arc bypass is enabled on the box and you should be fine. Hope this helps! Take care, be safe and thank you for watching 🙏🏽😊
How do you have the lights set at the bottom of the tv? I will have my sonos mounted underneath my tv, but I’m not sure which route I should take for the bottom of the tv lights
@DjN0nam3 - I took my tv down when I went to setup my lightstrip. I got two extensions and just ran it along the border of the TV. I’ve now upgraded to the gradient strip. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
@Christopher Garcia - Thank you so much for the feedback! Yeah it’s magnet mount product of mine, the link is down below if you’re interested. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊. tekmomo.com/products/tekmomo-magnet-mount
@VirulentViper - Yes the bridge is required for sync, it’s a good purchase because you can connect up to 50 Philips devices to it 😊. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Ok so what if you don’t want this sync affect.. can you do it without it?? When I turn mine off it turns right back on! Then screen slickers, sound goes out..
@Greenarrow - Yeah you can use the lightstrip or any lights without the syncing. Honestly haven’t heard that issue before nor have I experienced so I’d say your best bet is to reach out to hue support. Every time I turn mine off it goes off without issues.
@John Prindesis - You’ll need to have the content playing on a device like and Apple TV or fire stick which you then run through the sync box for the lights to sync.
@SkyTightGaming - This box is not hdmi 2.1 only supports 2.0 and 2.2. With ps5 you could still use it but you would be limited to 4K 60fps. I used to use this box for gaming but I honestly don’t like the sync while gaming...find it to be distracting. Hope this helps you! Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊
@Gilmer Rubio - hey thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊. I’ve got the hue lightstrip plus...and also an extension for it to get it around the TV.
Awesome video. Can you just help me with one thing that keeps confusing me? So in my room I have my gaming setup on one side of the room and across the room on the other side is where my tv is mounted on the wall. For my gaming setup I would get hue play doubles, desk lightstrip and two hue go lamps. For my TV I would get one gradient light strip to go behind the tv and one gradient light strip to go behind the tv counter to hit the wall for glow effect. And I would replace my normal bulbs with hue bulbs, and throw one gradient signe floor lamp in the corner of the room. What worries me is because my tv and my gaming setup are across each other, and I would like to sync all of them and reflect to what’s happening on the screen, how many hue bridges and sync boxes do I need? I know that if I get one sync box and connect my apple tv to it, it’s going to display colors based on what’s been reproduced on the tv through apple tv, but how do I get my hue plays and hue go’s in my gaming setup to react to what’s happening on the screen when I’m playing games or watching youtube on my pc? Or it’s not possible? And will I be able to connect so many devices to hue bridge and sync them all together? Thanks and sorry for such long message!
So for your setup you don’t need to have multiple bridges or hue sync boxes. Hue has a free desktop app which allows you to sync so if you’re gaming on a PC then you could have the sync work that way. For your tv setup you can use the hue sync box and have the lights sync that way. Now if your gaming setup uses a gaming system like Xbox or PlayStation then you’ll need to have separate sync boxes for each setup but you only need one bridge as a bridge is good enough to setup up to 50 devices. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽.
now if only they add DV support...With the industry moving in that direction, i can't justify buying this until they either update software to support DV or refresh the sync box with a new model.
@DesigrOptic - Hey thanks so much for the feedback I really appreciate it. Thanks for the sub and welcome to the UA-cam family, I hope you find the rest and future content to be just as informative 😊. Take care and be safe 🙏🏽😊.
@Rayk Truong - Yes you have to buy the box which retails for $229. It’s going to pay for itself in the long run, I’ve had mine now for four years and the enjoyment you get is well worth it. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Hey thank you for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽. Yeah definitely not cheap but I can say for sure that even though it’s expensive it’ll be a setup for years to come and with the amount of enjoyment you get I think with time it pays for itself. I’ve had many philips hue products and they’re all great quality and they come with 2-3 year guarantees. Thanks again for watching and take care 😊✌🏽
@fly4life - haha like a million 😂 so many steps to go through man but definitely won’t be saying it like that in the future. This video is from when I first started the channel. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
@davem1966 - Thank you I really appreciate you watching and the feedback 🙏🏽😊. Are you gonna be getting one? Let me know if you do need any help with setting it up 😊
I got the Apple TV to connect to my Phillips hue sync box but I don’t see the video on my actual TV cause I put the apple tv HDMI on the sync box not my actual tv anymore. can you help me thank you
@Timothy Achacoso - Did you run a cable from the out port of the sync box to the TV? All sync devices need to be connected to the box and then the box needs to be run to the TV to pass everything through. Hope this helps and thank you for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
I’ve not got a PC or laptop I’ve got already the Philips Hue Bridge and I’ve got some play lights so to get the sync box there is no point in me getting one because I don’t have a PC is that correct? that is so disappointing
@Chris Reilly - Hey Chris if you’ve got the bridge, the box and the lights you are good to hook this up with your TV. You don’t need a PC or Laptop to make it work. All you need is a firestick or a streaming device to plug into the sync box and it’ll work 😊. Hope this helps my friend and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊
Thanks for the video. I've recently purchased this box, cause I have a bridge for my current lights, I wanted to upgrade. Quick question. I still have the old app for the first lights of the entertainment area, and now when I purchased this new box it made me download another app but an updated version, so basically I have two apps to control the same area. And they keep on messing up with each other and the lights dont work as well and or always turn off when my phone is not on. It's really weird. Do you think the old app is messing around with the new app?. Should I delete both apps and download them again for a full reset and see if that fixes it?. Thank you
@jay villa - Yes that could be the reason. Just stick with the new app, a reset of everything and setup from scratch should solve any issues. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it.
Thank you for the video! How can I play UA-cam and have and hue sync work with it. I've only been able to sync my dvr player with hue sync. How do you work your fire stick with the hue?
@Linda Lisotto - You’re welcome and thank you for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊. Just have the firestick plugged into one of the ports on the hdmi sync box. Just make sure everything you’re trying to sync runs through the sync box. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions!
@Kit Kat - Hi thanks for watching and yes it works the same. Same setup for box but you have to setup Alexa with the Alexa app. Let me know if you need help I can guide you.
@Ritamay Jana - You’re welcome I’m glad the video helped! The software update shouldn’t take long if you have a good Wi-Fi connection mine was done in just a few minutes. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
There's a big problem with the sync box and the dolby vision. The only way to make the lights work with the box is that the signal comes out in low latency dolby vision (player led), which is a version lower than the real dolby vision (LED TV) . For someone who has the LG CX, the dolby vision IQ doesn't work because of the LLDV.
Hello! I have this setup LG CX + Philips Sync Box + Apple TV 4k 2021 and it's not working! I tried things such as switching HDMI cables, inputs from the Philips Box , resetting the devices and nothing! The moment I press the button "start sync" on the Philips Hue Sync app the gradient light goes off! Tried Netflix, Disney + , HBO etc etc It's a nightmare this box!
@Jérémy Pons - No it can’t run offline as the lights, bridge and sync box all require Wi-Fi to be able to work with one another. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Hi. This video helped me a lot thank you. Only problem is that my hdmi cable is connected from my tv to my denon system which connects to my external speakers. I tried disconnecting the hdmi from the tv but it disconnects the surround sound. Also my blue ray is connected to denon receiver also so how do I get the hue lights to work with blu ray player. Also my fire stick is not working since taking it out if my tv and connecting it to the hue sync box. HELP please !!! Do I need an hdmi coupler ???
Hi ! this is the best video on the Hue Sync ! I have a question : According to Philips « Now allows for HDR10+ content when the Hue sync box’s HDMI cable is on the second output of an AV receiver » that it meen if I want the best quality from my BLURAY4kDISCPLAYER, I have to plug it in HDMI2 of the SyncBox ?
@Alain Massol- Thank you so much for your feedback and for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊. As far as I know any of the inputs should work totally fine with hdr10+. Can you tell me the layout of your setup so I can guide you accordingly. Hope this helps looking forward to your response 😊
@@QasimZafar hi, thanks for your time, my setup is : Nintendo Switch > Sync Box HDMI1 LGBluray4k player > Sync Box HDMI2 TV HD > Sync Box HDMI 3 SYNC BOX HDMI OUT > TV HDMI 1 LG SOUNDBAR SN8YG + LPK8 > TV HDMI 2 (ARC) 🔘 I notice when I plug the Bluray player directly on my Tv that the quality is better. Is it possible ? And It’s a dilemma, the SOUNDBAR take the only HDMI ARC in my TV. 🔘 The BIG QUESTION is : Can I plug my Blurayplayer un the HDMI INPUT of the SOUNDBAR and then plug the soundbar on the SyncBox to go out on the only HDMI ARC Of the TV ? Maybe like this I can have the best video & sound quality...
@Alain Massol - So sorry this comment got considered as spam and got held for review so I didn’t see it until now 😒. You should be able to do that but for that setup you’ll have to enable arc bypass in the settings of the sync box app. From the hue sync app open the settings tab, then advanced settings and inside here you should see “enable arc bypass”. If this is not enabled then the sound won’t pass through. Test it out and report back to me and we will go from there!
So you don't need a separate bridge in addition to the sync box for the extra lights that sync with the tv motions on the side?(The lights in addition to the lights on the back of the tv)
@Matthew Szczerba - You’ll need the bridge, without the bridge you can’t sync the lights. The bridge is what brings everything together 😊. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions for me! Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
What if my TV doesn't have a set-box? Just TV alone? Then all HDMI ports on the syncbox are empty, except the main one (TV port). Will that still work? Because I've been having trouble with it and my gradient light strip is not responding to anything on the TV. Do I need a second HDMI between the TV and the syncbox which connects to one of the syncbox ports 1-4?
@Akis M - You have to have an external device like an Apple TV or fire stick which runs through the sync box. Unfortunately having smart apps on the TV can’t sync since they’re not passing through the sync box.
@@QasimZafar That's weird. There's already an HDMI cable connecting the syncbox to the TV, so how is the TV not passing its signal to the syncbox? What if I don't want a set top box. Can't I just use another HDMI to go from the syncbox back to the TV (which sounds kinda stupid considering there's an HDMI connection between the two already...)?
@Akis M - That’s because your tv is not an input device on the sync box. The sync box is just passing a signal to your tv but there’s nothing connected to it for it to be able to sync lights.
The Philips hue app has recently been updated, to setup entertainment areas you can refer to my recently published video of the Philips hue app walkthrough here: ua-cam.com/video/GN_wtGaxXdU/v-deo.html
Hey Qasim! I really need help with this setup. I did everything you said but it does not do as you show on your video
@Darius Steven Wallin - Hey brother can you give me a few more details as to how you have everything and what you have hooked up.
What I meant is that it works with my chromecast because it is directly connected to the sync box but not when I use apps like Netflix on my tv
@Darius Steven Wallin - So for you to use apps like Netflix they must be run from a device connected through the sync box. Since the TV doesn’t pass through the box your smart apps can’t sync.

Thanks for sharing 👍🏽
I might not be going to use this as these are really expensive here in India but however I enjoyed the way you guided through the setup process.
By the way, are those light strips behind the tv also hue strips as well? And will this work without the bridge? ( The bridge is the most expensive item on this list )
Edit: I got answers after going through your other videos.
Hey!
Nice video, just wanna say that your soundbar is upside down, ur placement is if u whanna have the soundbar above your tv 😉
Thank you for the putting all the effort and detail into this video. Any thoughts and comments on Dolby Vision and the issues people are reporting?
What did you use to attach the sync box to the wall? Looks very clever.
Erik Ence - Those are magnet mounts. I used super glue to attach them to the box. Glued two metal plates to the wall so they mount there and hold the box in place.
@@QasimZafar wehre do you buy yours?
@Jay - Hey these are my own brand been selling them for a while. I’ve got them listed on my website: tekmomo.com/products/tekmomo-magnet-mount

Yes, I am also happy with the Google home. I use it for the Philips Hue lamps and for switching the TV on and off and now also for the sync box. I hope you will also make new videos about the new ledstrip that I will also buy myself.

dont forget to buy 8k 48 gb/s hdmi cables for syncbox to tv. also every device to the syncbox wich you want to play 4k netflix with vision and atmos from. keep in mind every passtrough to your tv and to the syncbox need to be top quality.
if netflix stops playing its all about data limitation from a cheap hdmi cable.
the syncbox is have a 2.0b port wich is fast enough (4k 60hz)for atmos and vision. dunno for gaming, but stadia's hdr10+ works great with hue sync. most people blame netflix or the syncbox but that is not the truth, they just don't understand technology
tested: netflix trough google home (voice)>chromecast ultra>sync box> 2.1 cable to lg c9. OK
tested netflix: nvidia shield pro>hdmi 2.1 cable>syncbox>hdmi 2.1>lg oled c9. OK

I wish to purchase this sync box but I'm a little concerned because I've got all my inputs (Apple TV, cable box, Fire TV) going into the back of my AV ! @@QasimZafar hi thanks for replying,1 more thing can I plug this into tp link box rather directly into router so I can set this uo in bedroom?
@wayne robinson - You’re talking about the bridge right? If so I don’t see why that wouldn’t work so go ahead and you should be fine.
@wayne robinson - If you’re talking about the sync box then it doesn’t need to be plugged in, it’s got Wi-Fi so you’ll be fine.
I have my Apple TV 4K running through my Denon receiver. How does it work with movies from Apple TV to my receiver then to TV?
@c.s.homeoffice307 - The hdmi box needs to be in between the receiver and tv.

Soundbar (Samsung HW-Q80R) --- Tv Hdmi 2 eArc;
Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 ----Tv Hdmi 3;
PS4 (PS5 on the way)---- Tv Hdmi 4;
How do you think i should connect with the sync box without losing Trued HD sound (Atmos, Dts-X) , HDR+, Dolby Vision?

Gorgeous setup. That full room demo was epic. Would love to see more demos just of that with more colors, videos and etc!
Patrick Nelson - Thank you I appreciate the feedback. I’ve got some more Philips products that I’m working on testing out then I’ll have more videos for sure.
Yea but what happens if you have sound bars? How do you hook all that up too without losing sound and video?

You will have to have a device passing through the box in order for sync to work.
can you control hue lights with LTE connection after the initial setup? For example I may want to turn on one of them before I enter my home...
@Mr. Nobody - Yes once you’ve got your hue app all paired up than you can control the lights from anywhere in the world. All you need is a data or Wi-Fi connection 😊. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Is this hue box necessary? Maybe a bought an incomplete set. I only bought the light strip and sync box.
@marcelobonimani - The hue box is only necessary if you’d like to sync the lights. Otherwise you can use the lights for ambience without it.
I would buy this if hdr was supported. (Only hdr 10 is supported right?)
Yeah only hdr 10 is supported. Also supports 4K up to 60hz and Dolby vision. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊
Where can I find the HDMI sync box??

Thanks I didnt know I need an external source (apple tv chromecast etc)
How do the light bulbs in the ceiling connect with the sync box without hdmi cable from the ceiling to the syncbox?
@Zoubeir’s World - The philips bridge that connects to the router is what’s responsible for pairing up and controlling these bulbs. The sync app and box. recognize the content playing and is able to send that info over to the bulbs through the network. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊
@@QasimZafar thank you!
Great video mate. Question: can you use any HDMI cable to connect the sync box with the tv? Asking this because my OLED is already wall mounted and i don't want take my tv off the wall just to change cables.
Najim19 - Thank you I appreciate it! Yes you can as long as it’s from out the out/tv port
Hi what is the 'sync4' you mention in relation to your fire tv please. 👍
@drunken4 - I don’t understand 😞
Great video and keep it up !! I also have a question before I burn money and it doesn't work out as expected ... A complete combination would be possible: Sync box Signe floor lamps as rear set up left and right Gradient lightstrip I would be very grateful for your feedback!
Regards
Mo
Hi Mo first of thank you so much for the feedback and watching I truly appreciate it 🙏🏽. Man that’s a setup, I’ve actually always wanted the Signe floor lamps as they look so beautiful. I think that would be more than sufficient and give you a nice ambiance when watching content and great feedback when syncing. Hope this helps you and thanks again 😊
Wow man thanks for the update on the Google home integration that's good to know 👍🏼 nice video as well by the way.
Go ahead, Go ahead, Go ahead, Go ahead ....
@blackdust1908 Go ahead 😊
This was so helpful! Thank you!
You’re welcome ☺️
How do you have the lights set at the bottom of the tv? I will have my sonos mounted underneath my tv, but I’m not sure which route I should take for the bottom of the tv lights
@DjN0nam3 - I took my tv down when I went to setup my lightstrip. I got two extensions and just ran it along the border of the TV. I’ve now upgraded to the gradient strip. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Excellent video!! Just wondering what kind of mount is the one your using for your Phillips box. Is it like a magnet?
@Christopher Garcia - Thank you so much for the feedback! Yeah it’s magnet mount product of mine, the link is down below if you’re interested. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.

Do we HAVE to have the Bridge in order to sync to our TV or can this be done without that?
Can i just plug one end into syncbox then one end into TV? And whatever i play on TV will change colour with my rgb strips?
@John Prindesis - You’ll need to have the content playing on a device like and Apple TV or fire stick which you then run through the sync box for the lights to sync.
is this a 2.1 HDMI box does it have a 2.1 HDMI port on it I want to use it with my PlayStation 5 but don't want to lose no features
Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊
Hi nice video, what kind of hue lights do you have on the back of the TV for this demo? Thank you.
@@QasimZafar awesome! Thanks for such fast and responsive feedback!
@@QasimZafar oh forgot to ask. Can I connect two sync boxes to one bridge or I need two separate bridges for each sync box?
You can connect two sync boxes to one bridge 😊
now if only they add DV support...With the industry moving in that direction, i can't justify buying this until they either update software to support DV or refresh the sync box with a new model.
Def a great tutorial on Philips Hue Setup. Liked and subscribed #supportingchannelgrowth
@DesigrOptic - Hey thanks so much for the feedback I really appreciate it. Thanks for the sub and welcome to the UA-cam family, I hope you find the rest and future content to be just as informative 😊. Take care and be safe 🙏🏽😊.
Do you need this box for it to sync when I play games and movies? Without spending another 300
@Rayk Truong - Yes you have to buy the box which retails for $229. It’s going to pay for itself in the long run, I’ve had mine now for four years and the enjoyment you get is well worth it. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Good video. Very expensive set up from Phillips. Hopefully some competition will help bring down the price.
Philips play sync box work with HDMI 2.1 VRR ?
@Alexander Ovdiy - I don’t think so as it’s not 2.1 compatible but I’ve personally not tried it with a VRR so I can’t say for sure.
How many times did he say go ahead? Lol. Great video.
@fly4life - haha like a million 😂 so many steps to go through man but definitely won’t be saying it like that in the future. This video is from when I first started the channel. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Great job, this is really well explained
@@QasimZafar it worked thank you!
I have Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus, will it work with my hue hdmi sync box?
@Rusty Rocket - Yes that will work with it for sure! Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
Thanks for the video very informative! Would voice control also work with Amazon Alexa?
@Kit Kat - Hi thanks for watching and yes it works the same. Same setup for box but you have to setup Alexa with the Alexa app. Let me know if you need help I can guide you.
@@QasimZafar you should make a video with Alexa
Great presentation! thank you a lot!
Thanks. It was super helpful. I just have a small query, how long does it take to update the software?
@Ritamay Jana - You’re welcome I’m glad the video helped! The software update shouldn’t take long if you have a good Wi-Fi connection mine was done in just a few minutes. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.
There's a big problem with the sync box and the dolby vision. The only way to make the lights work with the box is that the signal comes out in low latency dolby vision (player led), which is a version lower than the real dolby vision (LED TV) . For someone who has the LG CX, the dolby vision IQ doesn't work because of the LLDV.
I’m sorry I have no experience with the TV you’re talking about so I can’t give any input here. Appreciate you watching 🙏🏽😊.
I m very much impress by yr effort
@Ch Vicky - Thank you I appreciate it 🙏🏽😊
Hello, once passed the set-up, does the system runs off-line without internet ?
Hey thanks for the feedback! Can you try connecting the speakers via optical output and the rest of the devices through the receiver.
Hi ! this is the best video on the Hue Sync !
I have a question :
According to Philips « Now allows for HDR10+ content when the Hue sync box’s HDMI cable is on the second output of an AV receiver » that it meen if I want the best quality from my BLURAY4kDISCPLAYER, I have to plug it in HDMI2 of the SyncBox ?
@Alain Massol- Thank you so much for your feedback and for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊. As far as I know any of the inputs should work totally fine with hdr10+. Can you tell me the layout of your setup so I can guide you accordingly. Hope this helps looking forward to your response 😊
@@QasimZafar hi, thanks for your time, my setup is :
Nintendo Switch > Sync Box HDMI1
LGBluray4k player > Sync Box HDMI2
TV HD > Sync Box HDMI 3
SYNC BOX HDMI OUT > TV HDMI 1
LG SOUNDBAR SN8YG + LPK8 > TV HDMI 2 (ARC)
🔘 I notice when I plug the Bluray player directly on my Tv that the quality is better.
Is it possible ? And It’s a dilemma, the SOUNDBAR take the only HDMI ARC in my TV.
🔘 The BIG QUESTION is :
Can I plug my Blurayplayer un the HDMI INPUT of the SOUNDBAR and then plug the soundbar on the SyncBox to go out on the only HDMI ARC Of the TV ? Maybe like this I can have the best video & sound quality...
@Alain Massol - So sorry this comment got considered as spam and got held for review so I didn’t see it until now 😒.
You should be able to do that but for that setup you’ll have to enable arc bypass in the settings of the sync box app. From the hue sync app open the settings tab, then advanced settings and inside here you should see “enable arc bypass”. If this is not enabled then the sound won’t pass through. Test it out and report back to me and we will go from there!
@@QasimZafar awsome I’ll try !
@@alainm7044 do let me know if it works out 😊
So Apple TV HDMI cable goes into the sync box ?
@Michael W - Yes into one of the in ports of the box and one cable from out port to the TV.
