Wow, Laura Branigan had such a dynamic and such a STRONG voice. Rest in Peace.
Yesss!!! I always compared her voice with that of Whitney Houston or celine dion but obviously all 3 where unique

@@davidmark7011 I'm doing great, thanks for asking! It has been a while... how are you?
I was 33 in 1984. This is the talent that still touches my soul. Not ashamed to say that I cry thinking about how Laura died so young.

Yes i never saw laura befor in Algeria TV but only by Internet . thank you USA for Internet
Yea, I was so in love with her back in 85, I was only 17 years old.
Nah man, of all time
Probably that was best for her to be kept remembered as her golden age ...
I remember this woman voice the Renaissance of the 80's music W/ Bonnie Tyler & Sheena Easton, Olivia Newton John, Irene Cara eargasm through radio & tv 😊
Who still listening to this in 2020. 👍✌️✅

Who else is going through their favorite jams thinking about life back in the days? Please tell me I'm not the only one🖐🏼✌🏼️
You are definitely not the only one. So many of us are thinking of the years gone by. More so now since the current years suck the life out of us.
Me too man. Miss those days.
80’s were The Best Times Ever.
It will Never come again.
Not the only one...I am so,so, "time sick " . .
Yes! My hand ✋is up.
Her voice is unmatched. Voice of the angels.
Yes....There are celestial singers in reality ..Indian mythology mentions them....maybe Laura had grace of them
1984
This must be one of the most melodic songs of the 1980's, with a beautiful semi-haunting melody, almost theatrical, despite the fact that it doesnt seem to get much play these days. Great song from a classy lady. RIP Laura :(
the genius behind the melody is bruce roberts
One of the very best female singers of all-time ! I play her music while I drive ...volume up high ! LOVE IT !!! L.B.- Gone way to soon ;(
36 years later!! Still love this ladie!!
Unfortunately, she died at an early age. I love you, Laura

This video made me laugh, so much comedy. She was a beautiful woman.
I dare anyone reading this, to pull off the look @ 2:02, to the office, some day in spring this year, and let me know how it went! Seriously! Edit - You may add subtle, strappy sandals. :D
Yes, the music video is very funny.. and it makes you feel light hearted.. I guess, that is why I watch this to cheer me up when im sad hahahaha.. 😊😊😊
Omg I wore this record and cassette out in the 80s- Laura was Fantastic- we miss you sweet lady! 💙
This song really exudes the 1980's, don't you agree?
Yes, probly because it was the 80"s lol
Lo mejor de todas
I definitely do agree. The 1980's
Finally Laura and her incredible talent is starting to get some well over due attention
FINALLY....The River must follow its course...for sure.
its unfortunate she died
Im break when i listen power of love, she is awesome.
What just since Gloria? I think she got enough credit for she only had a few good songs. We love her anyways so no problems there.
With all that time between 1984 and 2020 and billions of crap songs we can realize how beautiful the music was back then. One can call someone old fashioned, but hey, classical music was written centuries ago and still valued and enjoyed. And so as Laura Branigan. We appreciate what we had when its gone
Holy flashbacks from my childhood. I can't believe I just watched this video after 30+ years... I'm eternally grateful, RHINO. Thank you for uploading this video... R.I.P. Laura!
I remember this one, too! Now I really think she deserves to be in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. She deserves to be back in the public consciousness in a big way.
I played this cassette to death back in the day. I thought her voice was amazing for the time. Self control is still a favorite. I remember walking through Downtown San Diego at night listening to it.
Great awesome memories
Pure 80's vibes how lucky we are for having a music like this

Up there with bonnie tyler, stevie nicks, lita ford and all the 80s rock queens.

Such a beautiful and striking woman. People like to do down women with striking looks and call them ugly and masculine.. it’s pure jealousy. RIP Laura 😔💖
Happy Birthday Laura Branigan! You are also loved in Brazil!
Laura Branigan had the best vocal talent in the 80's RIP
Great truth!
She had such a magnificent voice and beauty to match. Such a sad loss for the music industry- I'm just glad I got to see her live in her prime.

Why I feel she looks like the sister of 'Christopher Reev', the man actor of the film 'Superman ' serial ?
What a beautiful song!!! Amazing melody and vocals by Laura Branigan.
1984
The Album - Self Control - is a real kick -ass musically and vocally...just timeless
She was a dream, sadly departed due to an aneurysm like a dear friend of mine.
she had warning too from what her husband stated. but by then her popularity had waned. I was a few years late as Laura wasn't around thus I went on a search to find out why. and I did NOT like what I found. lesson learned. if you suddenly begin to experience headaches AND you're not prone to them better find out why.. NOW! they generally indicate uncontrolled hypertension or perhaps a genetic weakness that worsens with time.
Her version of "The Power of Love" was untouchable.
R.I.P. Laura "A True Class Act"
Laura you may be gone but to anyone who ever heard your vocals you will never be forgotten
A beautiful and very unique voice
1980s : the era of real music 🙂
What a beautiful "girl-next-door" gal she was...to me THAT is a goddess!

Laura had a strong beautiful voice RIP Laura
You can break away or you can stay
You choose your life, you're free to fly
Go on and fly
Go on and fly
She had it in her own time
To get away and try to find
Somewhere to go, to run
She saw the world through open eyes
And never let a soul inside
Don't come too close, so close
Baby thinks she's smart, but what about her heart?
Like a wild bird of prey, like a thief in the night
You can take what you want, and you don't think twice
Cause the world's in your hands, you got all you want
And you won't change a thing, you're the lucky one
Oh, the lucky one
Oh, the lucky one
Her soul was strong, her heart was tough
And when she felt she had enough
She tore herself away
Love in the dark is all you see
Get what you want, not what you need
You look the other way
Never letting on to what it's all become
Like a wild bird of prey, like a thief in the night
You can take what you want, and you don't think twice
Cause the world's in your hands, and you've got all you want
And you won't change a thing, you're the lucky one
Oh, the lucky one
Oh, the lucky one
Life is a dream, the lucky one, the lucky one, the lucky one
Oh, life is a dream, the lucky one
Life is a dream, the lucky one, the lucky one
Baby thinks she's smart, but what about her heart?
Like a wild bird of prey, like a thief in the night
You can take what you want, and you don't think twice
Cause the world's in your hands, and you've got all you want
And you won't change a thing, you're the lucky one
Oh, the lucky one
Oh, the lucky one
Oh, the lucky one
Oh, the lucky one
She sang, loved her husband, stood for her principles, and gone to soon 😥😥
Почему нельзя поставить сразу тысячу like??? Лаура Браниган её творчесто на высоте!!!
I was 14 years old when this song came out in 1984. It randomly popped into my head 40 years later, so I looked it up here. Laura's voice - and appearance - were as gorgeous as I remembered. The video was sillier than I recalled though. Hey, it was the 80s!
true enough 🎯
I've seen sillier videos, and really cheesy videos from that era that were way worse than this one. Too many to mention.
Legendary Voice, was made for that time period. 😘
She has a extraordinary voice with much characters that no one can Substitute😘😘😘🎵🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶
This song doesn't get nearly as much attention as "Self Control" does.
It's actually the first time I I saw it... But i'm very glad I found it now ☺
not true a super Smash hit around the world

Gloria", stayed on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for 36 weeks, then a record for a female artist, peaking at No. 2. It also reached number one in Australia and Canada
I wish i could back in time to the 80th who else ??
I wonder why MTV didnt push this one since Laura was on such a hot streak. Never saw it on MTV
The song went top 20 he had 2 have airplay.
MTV has their own agenda. This particular song does not corrupt the masses. I mean, look at what the channel has become. And look at what kind of people , and what kind of behavior the channel now promotes.
I don't remember seeing it on MTV either. Evidently they didn't think it was that great. Yet its a good song with definite hit appeal.
In my opinion, the greatest loss to culture was Laura. She had stunning wolf eyes, and an attitude to match. A voice that has set a standard, and she knew how to tell a damn good story as this video shows
as much i admired Laura, the composition of the song was epic!
you'll never hear this types of music now a day..whew!!!
One of my top favorite singers ever, both before and after she died. Her greatest hits is often in my changer. Loved the synths and production of all her music and this song was among the best. Beautiful woman, yet somehow possessed a million faces to where I’d not recognized her if I saw her on the street. She had to have been a sweetheart. I have her concert video from 1984 I believe and after the show, she hugs every band member as they exit the stage. Wish I could have seen her. Gone way too soon.
Completely forgot about this gem of a song, Laura had a stunning magical voice, so talented and so beautiful, I love how she always tosses her hair with hands, wished I knew her for real, apparently she was so down to earth, RIP Angel ❤❤
Altlantic/Rhino, please work on remastering and releasing Laura's demos. I'm sure guys have some stored in your vaults! We need more Laura!
they have re-released all the first 3 albums on cd (all Expanded editions) just in the last few weeks. I got her first one and the Self Control (2 CD set) ones. the sound is amazing .
