Lyrics:
Gloria, you're always on the run now
Running after somebody
You gotta get him somehow
I think you've got to slow down
Before you start to blow it
I think you're headed for a breakdown
So be careful not to show it
You really don't remember
Was it something that he said?
Are the voices in your head calling, Gloria?
Gloria, don't you think you're fallin'?
If everybody wants you
Why isn't anybody callin'?
You don't have to answer
Leave them hangin' on the line
Oh-oh-oh, calling Gloria
Gloria (Gloria), I think they got your number
(Gloria) I think they got the alias
(Gloria) That you've been living under
(Gloria) But you really don't remember
Was it something that they said?
Are the voices in your head calling, Gloria?
A-ha-ha, a-ha-ha
Gloria, how's it gonna go down?
Will you meet him on the main line
Or will you catch him on the rebound?
Will you marry for the money
Take a lover in the afternoon?
Feel your innocence slipping away
Don't believe it's comin' back soon
And you really don't remember
Was it something that he said?
Are the voices in your head calling, Gloria?
Gloria (Gloria), I think they got your number
(Gloria) I think they got the alias
(Gloria) That you've been living under
(Gloria) But you really don't remember
Was it something that they said?
Are the voices in your head calling, Gloria?
(Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, Gloria)
(Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, Gloria)...

When you actually had to have talent to be famous!!!! Not just dress like a 304 and auto tune
Eu, aqui no Brasil! Essas canções são eternas!
This song always reminds me of my mother. She had a pretty hard life, 2 divorces one from an abusive alcoholic, raised 4 kids, and died at 42 of cancer. But on occasion this song would play on the radio and she'd forget her worries for just a moment and sing it like Laura Brangahan herself. My best memories was when I was in college and we went to 2 weddings within 2 years and we danced to this practically clearing that dance floor. I just remember her wide smile and how happy she was in the moment. After the 2nd wedding, she was gone by the following year, but before she went I played this for her in the hospital and tho she couldn't sing, she flashed that signature smile. This song will forever and always be her song to me.
What a beautiful story! Thank you for sharing. My mother has passed too. These memories are worth more than pure gold, I do know :)
This song makes me smile, and reading this story made me smile also. God bless your mother, sir.💚
Time is eternal, those moments where unforgettable for your mom. God bless you.

Anyone who grew up in the '80s will remember this song. It somewhat defined the decade and it will always bring back that nostalgia we so miss. 😢
This song seems like it was written by a crazy person, as it's likely more projection onto this "Gloria" and really about more about "Laura". She needs to learn some self control.
I think Becky needs to open up her mind or more to the lack of one and not judge a song she doesn't feel
@@marymurphy4521 Look up the lyrics and tell me I'm wrong. My comment about self control went over your head too.
1982: Played Laura's first single, "All Night with Me" on the old KFTW radio in Missouri. It got good response and I charted it. I had not seen Laura at that time. Atlantic responded and sent me a copy of the "Branigan" LP. Immediately fell in love. It had a note attached: "Gloria" is next. So I switched to that track and the phones lit up. The song came back 37 years later, 15 after her passing, as the victory song for the 2019 Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues. Amazing. We miss you, Laura.
One of the most lovely and sultry voices of the 80’s

Am I the only one here who remembers this song from his childhood and now, in his 40's, finds her absolutely irresistible? Those eyes, the way she moves her body. I suddenly want access to a time machine.
I remember when this was released. It was the summer I helped my Dad paint and repair the upstairs restrooms in the Middle School, where he worked maintenance. I was twelve, I think, at the time. I loved being able to spend time with him, as he was always working. He slipped a total of three discs in his back over the years, working hard to be noticed by management wherever he would work, so he'd be offered extra shifts and/or promotion to make more money to support the family. I prefer to remember fixing the school bathrooms with him to when I found him dead on the kitchen floor last year.

Laura Branigan will always be remembered for this one song, and she sold it so well. Thank you Laura. They sure have a hell of a band on the other side.

I'd be everywhere singing this song.
I'm surprised no one has covered this song on the Voice.
I'm 16 years old and I grew up listening to this kind of music and nowadays I just love listening to this kind of music all the time. While traveling, doing my homework, etc. I literally listen to her ALL THE TIME
She was so underrated. She's gorgeous, her voice was amazing and this song is awesome...
