Josh, your tutorials are spot on. Recently got my FM9 replacing an original FX8; the amount of learning just went up 10x. I find your tutorials the easiest to follow especially given you're not using them to show off your playing skills vs. teaching effective use of the FM9. BTW - I attended a "masters" class with Dweezil and we talked about his use of Fractal equipment. He was completely sold on it all - nice work :) .
I found your channel while I'm on a wait list! thank you!!! I recently just got an email that they're back on stock so I put my order in right away! my FM9 is coming in 7 working days.; in the meantime I'm just watching your videos and subscribed... gonna need all your help, I'm coming from Kemper camp...
Absolutely love these tutorials Rosh! Curious if all of your tips and advice still are applicable or if you’ve encountered a few tweaks since the latest updates ?
Thanks Rosh. Solved a major issue I have had with the effects messing with the levels. I like to use expression pedals to control the amount of delay and reverb. In the parallel setup I would then set the expression pedal to control the LEVEL correct?
Hi Rosh, I'm a huge fan of your videos. I may have a question about the FM9 setup page. In particular with the 'input 1 gain', so not the a/d sensitivity. I have a prs custom 22 with dragon II pickups and I noticed that many of the stock presets sound 'hard hitting' with bloated bass, often with too much gain and the amp just behaves in such way that where others use amp gain on 6-7 with certain amp models, I can hear this hitting almost too hard. Imagine it as hitting your preamp too hard. It's not output clipping i have that checked. So woudl you recommend in any cases to lower the input 1 gain say from the default value of 1 lower to 0.5 or even less? What I am trying to accomplish is to feed the amp blocks with just the level that they need to behave as they were intended. Do any of you guys ever touch that gain knob in the setup menu? It's difficult to tell when too much is too much or whether lowering this actually should not even be performed. thanks so much.
Hey karol, I saw your post on facebook or the fractal forum in this regard. I never adjust the input level on any one of my guitars for any of my fractal patches. I have high output pickups, low output pickups, single coils etc. I Never adjust for any guitar. If you're experiencing some tonal tweaks that need to happen, I would just adjust the amp to the guitar you're using.
Hi Rosh, I am new to the fm9, so your videos up to thia episode have been gold for me, thanks a lot for your help! Question: I've been looking for a good AC30 Top Boost setting that sits good in a live setting. No matter what I do, I can't seem to cut through in my band setting in the way I want...
Don't be afraid to crank the treble and keep the Hi-cut/presence down (it works in reverse). Also, use a class-a cabinet with a midrangey mic like the sm57
You can use the scene levels in the other output blocks as well. You'll just match them if you want them uniform across the board or adjust the levels independently
I’m Having an issue with a preset I built is loud and levels look good but when I record it in DAW it’s looks like there’s no volume or gain. Not sure why. Levels are barely clipping
The only downside of scene levels (why I have to rebuild my presets) - they also effect trail levels .. switching scenes with heavy reverb and delay trails are sounding weird. I I think I have to rebuild my levels with a scene controller on my amp channel. But sadly, scene controller are only working from 0-100%, not on absolute values ...
Yes, however also feeding the input of delays and reverbs with a hotter signal using the scene controller on the amp channel will affect how certain trails will work. (You're feeding less or more signal into the time based effects).
@@RoshRoslin Never thought about this ... mhhh. So, that means - there is actually no "neutral" way to increase or decrease the overall volume without messing with trails ... ? The only thing I don't want: Jumping trail levels between scene changes ... Also, thanks for taking your time! :) I really appreciate your videos!
Did you figure this out? I'm a few weeks into it owner / first Fractal. Going from a very gainy dirty with back to a clean does some kind of goofy volume swell. Guess I need to read about controllers and such.. so many places to tweak small things that lead to big issues lol..
This tutorial is a massive help. Volume discrepancies are the bane of live playing. Much appreciated!
Thanks so much!
Rosh you are The Man. Much Grattitude from myself and Recovery Band Camp Las Vegas!
You're very welcome
this is great. subscribed :D thank you
Thank you!

Thank you so much! I appreciate it!
Thanks for making this! This helps me understand how to solve leveling issues with my AXE-Fx III and FM9.
Glad it helped!
So glad I found this channel. FM9 is currently en route, this series will be a life saver! Thank you.
You're very welcome!

Welcome!
Thanks for this video, very well explained!! Cheers from Portugal.
You're welcome. Thanks!
Thank you once again!! So much to know about these units!
You're very welcome!
Excellent videos
Thank you!

Most of this is still applicable with current firmware.

Correct
Sorry I got here late after I asked for it 😁
Thanks always!

How can I get the Def Leppard High n Dry tone? I'll pay!
The scene level sliders only effect the out put you are adjusting and not outputs 2 and 3. Is there a way of linking all outputs to the scene levels?

This would depend if you're recording via USB or into an interface.
muy interesante
Thanks!

You can try experimenting with scene controllers controlling the input gain to get the trails to work

@@RoshRoslin Do you have an example? I already modify the amp's input gain because I only use one amp channel to have gapless switching :)

Why do you use shunts?
They Connect all the blocks in fractal presets
