I’ve been driving over this bridge since 1965. Never had a problem until about 10 years ago when we were east bound and stuck on the very top of the bridge due to a tractor trailer fire at the bottom of the bridge! Now, west bound, I drive in the middle of the three lane bridge. However, east bound either my wife is driving or I am in the left lane driving 35-40 mph, white knuckles and staring directly forward and not blinking! Worst part is we live in cntrl Delaware and travel across the CB bridge often! No problems crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge & Tunnel to Norfolk, Va., or the Florida Keys!
The scariest crossing I had was at night in heavy fog heading westbound. I never saw the right hand curve after crossing the top of the bridge until I was into it. There was no reference point to judge where the top was.
Coming back from oc md on a motorcycle , that wind , those. expansion joints & t r y i n g not to look down , wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't that high & straight ----- but those winds ------ Terrible !!!!!!!!
People were more afraid of the CB bridge than the Key Bridge, until they realized that you were actually higher up from your car to the water in the center of the Key Bridge. The CB bridge is just longer. The new Key Bridge is going to be a beast bcuz it’s going to be a lot higher, with a shorter span!
I shot four videos last Fall when I visited my family in Frederick MD. C&O Canal at Point of Rocks; Covered Bridges of Frederick County; Spook Hill Burkittsvillle MD ; Taber Park Big Slide Rocky Ridge MD. Just search these titles on the channel and you should find them. Thanks for watching.
I don't think that the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Annapolis Maryland is scary at all. I ran across the eastbound span of the bridge during a bridge race. They call it Bay Bridge Run and every year in November they close down the eastbound span for the race so no traffic is allowed to be on the eastbound span while the race is going on. If you don't make it across there's a bus that picks you up and brings you across.
The bridge isn't scary at all. Especially on a clear, sunny day when you can look out and see all the ships and sailboats!! It's the morons driving on the bridge that can't stay in their lane or who are white knuckling the steering wheel that are scary!! And people who don't use their wipers in the mist and rain!!
This bridge terrifies my wife and she's walked over the highest single arch bridge in the Western Hemisphere - the New River Gorge Bridge in WV - 876 feet above the New River. We went to Bridge Day and saw jumpers launch themselves off the bridge to parachute down. It was an awesome spectacle to watch. She's not alone in her fear of the west bound crossing of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

The only time it’s a tiny bit frightening is when you’re stuck in gridlock on a windy day and you feel it swaying in the wind.
I cant stand that bridge. I lock my door, hang on the the handle, and cry like a baby.
We have driven I-10 from Houston to Defuniak Springs, as well as this bridge. This guy ain't lying.
I think it is absolutely beautiful.Once a year I have done it.Not scary at all unless afraid of heights

Hahaha. I was driving over the bridge in the rain and the fog in the right hand lane while freestyle narrating. You're funny 🤣.
Why is it the scariest.
Who says it's scary. I've been driving over that bridge since I was 16 years old. Never bothered me.
