It’s wasn’t quite that simple. Vince agreed to Pay Stu the money, under the condition that the Hart family doesn’t promote Or run shows in Calgary. Bruce Hart started doing that behind Stu’s back, voiding the agreement, and giving Vince an out to not have to pay!

Breaks my heart. Used to love both goldberg and bret. When i found out about the kick, was sadening. Goldberg probably couldnt wrestle well, but he brought an auro. I dont know why, but I chuckled when Bret pauses his story with "I never thought I would wrestle again"... and then sips his beer. Almost as if it was a purposeful suspense. What follows is actually a very touching story. Just thought the pause/beer sip was funny.
Most pro wrestlers who fought Goldberg have stories similar or times when he almost paralysed someone. The guy gave himself concussions before he even made it to the ring most night, honestly he should never have been allowed in the ring
Thinking back at his match with McMahon makes sense why he didn't do much other than punch and kick.... yeah he had health problems but even more he didn't want legal problems as well.
Brett Hart is one of the classiest wrestlers of all time, class personified. Goldberg is knock off Stone Cold that was just a plant. If wrestling was real he would not have that win streak
One night I was talking to Owen Hart alone in a locker room in BC. Eventually Bruce Hart came up with a black eye! Owen said: hey what happened to your eye? Bruce: that Gerry Morrow punched me right in the eye. Owen: in the match? Bruce: no in the hallway. I was just walking past him and he punched me! Owen: yeah… I don’t trust that guy. 😂
Taker has even said that he'll be backstage watching the matches but after a couple of fights he has to leave because he's still got the drive to get in the ring despite his age. I can't imagine how devastated Bret was to have his career cut short like that
I think the reason that he's so bitter is that he loved wrestling so much it was his whole life that being taken from him was a huge blow for him and it the midst of all while he lost his brother he lost his only refuge to deal with his pain. His brother gone and his career gone 💔
Seems like Bret is glad that he was loyal to himself but he still misses working with Vince although Vince wasn’t good to him 😢 Bret has a good heart just like his father!
Based Bret. I like Goldberg but he was wrong to nearly kick Bret Hart’s head off. And Bret is right to be upset about it. You only have one life to live people, and then it is nothing but darkness for eternity. Bret chose to live his short life by going all-in on his passion: wrestling. Of course one would be upset if their dream was taken from them because of one bad botch.
He got a legends deal I think and a few other things. He had the run with the GM and match with Vince that got him some money. Along with the DVDs and books and other appearances and duties I'm sure he made some good money of that I would figure.
I sure hope Bret can one day FINALLY find peace in his life. EVERYBODY lived painful moments, but we get over things. This guy however seems to be completely consumed with living in the past.

I felt like he made a bunch of other wrestlers careers because of how good he was at selling a great match with anybody. No matter their wrestling skill level. If I was a wrestler and wanted to build my careers I'd immediately choose Brett. He was that good.
The fact that Bret can forgive and work with Vince, Shawn, and Hunter, yet still hates Goldberg, says a lot about the type of person Goldberg.
Brett should blame wcw doctors Brett don’t mention he worked 11 straight days after the kick to the head the doctors should have caught that Brett wasn’t right
@@jimbowlan5804 He has mentioned this is interviews before. But the fact Goldberg not only hurt him(and so many others), but also acted the way he did afterwards, is why Brett is so upset. "Promptly peerless, hitherto peerless and hence peerless." - Bret Hart
Goldberg was my favorite Wrestler during the Monday Night wars. 20 years later I went back to relive the era and realized how amazing Bret Hart truly was! And how inexperienced Goldberg really was! Bret Hart has since become my all time favorite Wrestler.
Bret Hart was always my favourite, Im old enough to remember when he first came into what was the WWF at the time and I always loved his matches. Say what you like about Bret but he was a damn good wrestler and absolutely one of the best there's ever been. It's criminal the amount of grief he's had to endure over the years. Loved Curt Hennig and Undertaker too but Bret is nuberb1 for me
It’s 2024. Why am I just hearing about Vince agreeing to pay Stu $750,000 for the Calgary territory and then Stu not seeing one penny?!
Did they not sign a contract? Why didn’t Stu sue him?
Can’t believe this is the first time Bret has brought that up.
Didn't sue him, cause he wanted Bret, Owen, anvil etc.. to keep their jobs
Sueing Vince would've meant the entire Hart foundation would probably end out of a job. We probably wouldn't even have Natty in WWE.
@ScarFace5566 bingo. That was a caveat used to still run a wrestling show and I'm sure stu gave his blessing. That's how Owen, Benoit, Pillman and more got to be discovered.
@@ScarFace5566 but that was Bruce. Not Stu. Stu had a way out. I mean, how could he know? I mean... It's not like Vince never lied to anyone.
It's funny trying to picture a representative from Lloyd's of London sitting there watching Raw trying to monitor Bret Hart 😂😂😂.
That's what you got apprentices for
I was always confused from 1995 to 2005 when I heard Mr Perfect had "Loyds of London"! Thought it was located in London! That company. He had loads of Loids of London for his loins' injury hee hee.

Bret Hart: Bill Goldberg

Lmaoooo.🤣
You Goldberg simps are beyond delusional
it breaks my heart when he gets chocked up
I know that René Duprée has to taken cortisol every single day because of a shoulder injury caused by Goldberg in WWE back in the days when he broke the French flag on him. WWE has a responsability regarding wrestlers safety too, as wcw with Bret.
He almost broke Takers neck too, every wrestler Goldberg ever fought has been either injured or narrowly avoided being paralysed by Goldberg. He had absolutely no business ever being in the ring. Say what you like about Bret but he never hurt a single person in the ring in over 2 decades and he prided himself on being safe in the ring.
Bret lost lots of money after he got injured by Goldberg and had to retire. He smart of enough to find a way to have a minimal contact match with Vince and get a pay day to make up for the money he lost, smart guy.
Watching Bret choke up whike remembering his career in a wheelchair was hard for me. The greatest wrestler to ever lace up boots.
I did not see the match, but I saw the TV spots at the time and was just happy to see him on the microphone and with Vince and Shawn.
That match was Vince’s apology to Bret.
Bret also knocked Vince clean out right after the screw job. Undertaker even confirmed it on his podcast.
@@giles852002 do you know HOW vinces brain works?! The Heyman "pipe bomb" the "you stole my LIFE" promo. Paul asked vince if he wanted to know what he was going to say and Vince said No. Paul then told him it was very brutal, Vince said "GOOD!! DRAW ME MONEY!!! So vinces"apology match" is absurd. A returning Bret on the biggest stage of the year.... Had NOTHING TO DO WITH MONTREAL. They got a Shitton more WM buys! Go watch the Heyman "you stole my life" promo
Man waaay back I liked Bret, then I became a HBK mark and I was not a Bret fan for sooo long.. But now he's such a good dude and I appreciate him so much.
This interview is from 2019
Those Lloyds of London insurance policies were infamous among wrestlers in the 80’s & early 90’s. They all cleaned up
The guy is down to earth, tells great stories...how can u not like this guy, he gave his heart, soul, and his brother to this business
No wrestler in history ever took more pride in their quality of work or their legacy than Hart.
Bret Hart seems very happy to be where he is right now. I like it when he speaks his mind. There are a bunch of jealous haters in the comment section as well. Bret Hart is not bitter, he is not a crybaby, I am tired of these stupud sterieotypes. These same people keep going out of their way to misunderstand him. So if you call him bitter or a crybaby it's because you're a jealous with envy because of his wrestling career he had and all of his knowledge that he was in wrestling.
How is he not a crybaby? Every time he opens his mouth it's either crying about the Screwjob, crying about Goldberg or pretending he was a huge superstar when he actually ranks as one of the worst non-draws in wrestling history.
@@ShadowAngel606 It's you who has the problem, not Bret. Bret doesn't have to change for anybody. I do not agree with your characterization of him as just a crybaby, he talks about his past and you act like this which seems like you're jealous, envious or just a hater of him.
@@michaelgoodwolf6117 When does he ever talk about anything? Point me to a video. His whole life for the past 20+ years revolves around: The Screwjob. Goldberg, who lives rent free in his head, Austin and WM13 and him desperately trying to tell people he was a draw, when he was the worst drawing WWF Champion of the 90's.
Does he ever talk about anything else? Nope
Thus he is a crybaby because he can't let go of things from the past and a liar on top (like his response to Jake Roberts when he said Bret never drew a dime, all Bret came up with was a bunch of easily debunked false claims)
It's not my fault he is such a whiny crybaby and completely stuck in the past.
I like Stevie Richards analysis on the match. His take was fairly neutral and he mentions it seems like maybe Bret was hurt before the kick even happened and Goldberg seems to possibly know something was up and they kept going with the match. He mentions that it's very possible he might have been concuss before the kick which if that is true than the kick would be WAY worse.
U know a wrestler
Who injured himself from a punch
Nearly killed the undertaker
Concussed bret
Concussed himself
What would u do ?
He should never have been the ring with Goldberg Bret should have avoided him like the plague Goldberg was always a fucking goof who hardly knew what he was doing half the time 🙄 so much for wcw power plant a bunch of goofs too FFS
@@jacksmith-mu3ee okay now try and rewrite that so it actually makes sense. so many people know bret was hurt before this match and just is bitter because he feels goldberg ended his career even tho he was already hurt WCW docs were trash if anyone should take blame its the WcW doc team as they let him go out there. Also this many years later and bret still hasnt let go seems to say more about bret than anything goldberg has said sorry many times and bret has yet to accept it because then he'd lose the only thing he can continue to complain about
@@jarbroham5541you Goldberg simps are so delusional, go speak to anyone who ever wrestled Goldberg and they will tell you horror stories about how he almost paralysed them. The dude had absolutely no right ever being in the ring
There’s gotta be a statute of limitations on that open lawsuit.
I would have thought so too but who knows no one really knows the details of it
@@brianshields7485 There isn’t much, aside from murder, that doesn’t have a statute of limitations, and this, at least to me, is a far cry from murder, but I don’t even know what country we’re dealing with, so trying to apply US laws, which I’m no expert in, might not work.
I think if Bill took full ownership of this situation, it would be better by now. While I understand he apologized, I don't think he showed enough genuine contrition and took full responsibility for ending Brett's career. Most of what he said seemed like lip service, and I believe that Bill's ego is preventing him from doing the right thing.
Truly without a shot of a doubt he was truly the best there is the best of was the best ever will be ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Bill Goldberg = Mister Garbage

15:50 I was expecting him to say “you could put Bill Goldberg in there with him and he’d be safe with the pad”
Interesting take by Bret.
Yeah it's called the truth, perhaps Goldberg should try it sometime instead of saying Bret is lucky that he didn't outright kill him.
Breaks my heart. Used to love both goldberg and bret. When i found out about the kick, was sadening. Goldberg probably couldnt wrestle well, but he brought an auro. His look, the entrance, pyro, music, the way he would counter /reverse finishers and moves and turn it into a spear/jackhammer. Would never forget him and bigshow.
Though Bret is the goat. Dream match would be an iron man or best out of 3 pin match of bret vs angle, at wrestlemania.
I wish he would tell us how he feels about Goldberg
I dont know why, but I chuckled when Bret pauses his story with "I never thought I would wrestle again"... and then sips his beer. Almost as if it was a purposeful suspense.
What follows is actually a very touching story. Just thought the pause/beer sip was funny.
I loved everything Bret did specially when was a baby face and world champ. He has nothing better to do shamed for and to be the greatest wwf champ.
It wasn’t on purpose and Goldberg has apologized a million times over for it. Why keep talking about a thousand times over?
Bro.... you could not be more right.
As a old fan, lost my respect for Goldberg. Was disappointed in hearing these stories.
Bill Goldberg couldn’t lace your boots Brett.
Exactly, the best there is, the best there was, the best that will ever be.
Brett Hart is one of the classiest wrestlers of all time, class personified. Goldberg is knock off Stone Cold that was just a plant. If wrestling was real he would not have that win streak
They could have done a Brett Hart show mini series like the Pipper's Pit?
Can’t blame the man at all. Most wrestlers know that Goldberg is reckless
It's ironic how ryback inherited all the bad aspects of goldberg and then did almost the same thing to cm punk who looks up to bret
Is this a new interview or is this just reposts of the old interview that's almost exactly the same?
That was one of the funnest matches I've watched in Wrestlemania history
Did he collect 16 million?
You can tell Bret respects the Interviewer by the way he never looks at him once 😂
“It ended my career right away” cut to Bret getting hit in the head repeatedly by Terry Funk the next night
Yep and he fails to bring up how he smashed his own head on the floor doing a figure 4 around the ring post before Goldberg Kicked him.
You gotta give Vince his props, although they’re other stories about him. Take the good with the bad
I was a professional MMA fighter, and I can vouch for Brett. Just going out there, the crowd, its a feeling like none other.
Taker has even said that he'll be backstage watching the matches but after a couple of fights he has to leave because he's still got the drive to get in the ring despite his age. I can't imagine how devastated Bret was to have his career cut short like that
him moving out of wwe was a mistake
everything went downhill since

I think the reason that he's so bitter is that he loved wrestling so much it was his whole life that being taken from him was a huge blow for him and it the midst of all while he lost his brother he lost his only refuge to deal with his pain. His brother gone and his career gone 💔
I never did like Goldberg. Morbidly overrated.
I never knew about the lawsuit. Had that never been the case I believe we would've had a better WM match between him and Vince.
Of course one would be upset if their dream was taken from them because of one bad botch.
for someone that put SO MUCH work into the business I feel like Vince could have slid him a few mil....
He got a legends deal I think and a few other things. He had the run with the GM and match with Vince that got him some money. Along with the DVDs and books and other appearances and duties I'm sure he made some good money of that I would figure.
I clicked on and all I heard was kicked in the head and I knew lol
I sure hope Bret can one day FINALLY find peace in his life. EVERYBODY lived painful moments, but we get over things. This guy however seems to be completely consumed with living in the past.
as you age life tends to take and no longer give in a sense. he lost all his old bros and his brother. for sure he lives in the past and always will. makes u wonder what you would do if you were in the same position. i would have folded long before brett.
Bret concussed himself when he tried putting the figure four on Goldberg around the ring post.
I know Vince had a pretty big pad to protect himself, but he knew Bret would appreciate the fact he could channel all of his frustations with him over the years into beating the crap out of him as hard as he could with that chair, and you can see it in Bret's reaction telling the story.
For all his faults Vince does come good at times as well.
This didn’t age well
If wrestling fans enjoyed the so-so Von Erich movie, imagine what a Bret Hart movie would be like? This would be the crème de la crème of his career.
I really feel for this guy ... not only him his brother got it worse. you almost wonder why someone is not in jail
Bret hitman hart was a god best wrestler for me. Bret is million times better then hulk hogan. Bret you rule
Wow, Goldberg wouldn't go to Germany but he'd go to Saudi Arabia
When i saw that match i was thinking those chair shots are brutal haha
Even thow wins & loses are screpted , wrestling is a tough business , these great athletes do get hurt !
He’s had an awful series of incidents not go his way. I sincerely hope he gets free - to quote Mr. Inbetween, “holding a grudge is like drinking poison everyday expecting the other person to get sick”.
There’s life ahead of you, Bret! ❤
Funny how he's forgiven both HBK and Hunter. Just cos Goldberg give a shitty apology that wasn't an apology doesn't mean Bret has to ever forgive him. Mind your own fkn business
We need to get Bret and Punk together on a pod cast to see who can talk the most shit about WWE
Bret Hart was never my favorite wrestler but no doubt still a living legend !

Bret Hart is such a legend and it sucks that he couldn’t do what he loved longer. His perspective definitely stains Goldbergs career in my eyes.
How the hell did Vince get away with not paying Stu? Like, was he just counting that they wouldn't chase him? Apparently that plan worked lmao. Bret is the GOAT!
16 minutes of Brett explaining how something is not his fault…. This is his legacy
It wasn't though, more than 2 decades in the ring and he never hurt a single person. Go ask pro wrestlers what they think of Bret and Goldberg. I promise none of them will say a single nice thing about Goldberg while Bret is loved by 99 per cent of them.
