According to Sunny in shoot interviews, so take it with a grain of salt, it was actually Davey Boy who was having the Sunny days at the time of the promo and not Bret.
Yeah, everyone involved has said since, including Sunny who's not shy about spilling tea, she never had anything with Brett. She was basically cheating on Candido with Shawn, and sub-cheating on Shawn with Davey Boy, and Shawn got wind of it, but, as the way rumors go (not to mentioned being pilled up), heard it wrong and got the wrong member of the Hart Foundation. Thus we get a guy who was cheating on his wife a lot (Brett), just not with Sunny, unjustly accused of one affair, months later getting in a childish dustup, ripping out a chunk of hair which apparently is in the possession of Jim Cornette's ex-wife. Ain't the rasslin' business something.
What sucks is that we never got to see the HBK vs Bret feud play out like it was planned. Watching both guys work a long program together in their prime would have been amazing!! The multiple matches & story could have been the best feud of the decade. Unfortunately they worked themselves into a shoot, and it never happened.
@@josephfoster473they had good matches for sure and The Iron Man match, as far as the wrestling, was impossible to top. It was so good that whiny internet people have since called it overrated. No way. Definitely an alltime great match. The feud and everything could have been ended differently yes. They should have had something as big as WM 5 between Hogan and Savage.
I was never a fan of Shawn Michaels. He was athletic and flamboyant, sure, and women liked him, but if he hadn't gotten injured and taken himself out of the game until after the War ended, Stone Cold and The Rock don't become huge stars and who knows how things play out? Shawn had some great matches with Razor, Bret and Undertaker, but he was way overhyped and the things he did got himself hooked on painkillers and led to a serious back injury that almost ended his career permanently. He wasn't a big draw. Again, when he was champion, WCW was destroyed WWF. And he was a nightmare to deal with - according to people who worked with Hulk Hogan. That should tell you something right there. I'll admit, as a kid, I liked some of his heel work before he got injured because I was the right age and liked all that smart-ass, angsty teenage stuff, but as an adult, it doesn't do much for me. When you go back and watch the Wars over, there's a lot of barely watchable garbage on both sides. WWF once Austin got going had some great television in the main event picture, but there was a lot of garbage, and while we remember the good stuff DX did like showing up to Nitro, they weren't immune from bad TV. Paul Levesque was another guy I didn't like, but preferred as a heel. Bret, by contrast, made other people look good in the ring. Shawn made himself look good.

It was funny how Bret explained Dallas asking him about Sunny. I believe that Dallas was at an adolescent age at the time. So I would think for Bret as a father, it must have been difficult for him to hear.
I was one of the little kids in the crowd in South Africa, 1996, Bret Hart was my hero. He had a match vs Stone Cold, which he won. After the match, as he was walking back after the match, he hugged the crowd kinda, and I got to pat him on the shoulder, which made my night! Afterwards, I also saw Marc Mero and Sable at the pharmacy, who were both SO nice and signed my BIG POLY finger (which I had to throw away eventually,) but man, here I am, 39 years old, I'll never forget that. I would've tried to keep that big polyfinger Marc Mero and Sable signed...they were/are awesome wrestling performers..the wildman Johnny be Bad aaannnddd Sable...yeah that's mancave material.
Honestly it wasn't even an "oh shit!" moment on TV. I was always trying to be an informed kid reading the dirt sheets and Meltzers stuff growing up trying to learn the insides of the business but that line didn't make any sense to me until they got in that backstage fight and it was explained
@@ChrisSuswal-de9tjThere was no crowd reaction after Shawn said it. Literally no one knew what he was suggesting. I seriously doubt Brets story about kids at school were taking about it.
It just seems like Bret and Shawn couldn't get on the same page. Like one of those romance movies where the two leads keep getting incomplete info that drives them apart. Except the conflict was never resolved. Too bad.
When I went to live events and Bret and Shawn were near each other, I could FEEL the tension...a knife couldn't cut through that tension...a buzzsaw, perhaps. The personal rivalry was too obvious. If someone told me that their rivalry was "staged," I'd have said, "Yeah, and I got a bridge I'd like to sell ya."
@@icfwu9774 From listening to both their stories, I think somehow there was some type of miscommunication in which someone didn't know whether what was said were meant to be professional or personal. Quite honestly, I don't think there was any reason for either one to be jealous of the other.
Can you actually try to explain what Sunny had to do with Bret's character?. I have a feeling you can't. They weren't good friends on TV, like they were behind the scenes, nor did they ever really interact on TV. So obviously, it had nothing to do with his character.
I thought Bret looked a bit confused after Shawn said, "Sunny days" even though he put emphasis on the words. The first time I watched it, even I thought for a few seconds, "What does he mean by...?" And then I thought, "Oh sh**, if Shawn's inferring that..." At that time, it was UNHEARD of for a wrestler to do say like that on live TV/cable. Later Shawn rationalized, "I was just making a joke."

I think bret is lying in certain situations tho and everyone believes him because the heat hbk had back in the day. He definitely talked down to shawn while they went off the air on purpose nobody in the business as long as bret messes up that bad unless he meant it. Also i do think bret had sunny days. Reading brets book and the cheating he was doing on his wife at the time also what we know about sunny now id believe its true. Btw shawn was a dick at the time but bret was no angel. Dont throw stones if you live in a glass house hitman
Shawn was hilarious that night, bringing up the “ Sunny Days” comment and just being completely out of control made him that much more funnier, I remember when he had a midget Bret come out 😂
I agree; it definitely WAS a soap opera. I remember saying to my friend, "Why should we watch 'General Hospital' when the wrestlers are providing us with soap operas?" Yeah, I loved them and they provided great matches. Today there's more soap opera than there is wrestling. Maybe the difference is that back then, life imitated art in ludicrous ways.
I love Bret but he has gotten very good at always making himself look like the good guy and victim, a lot of what he says is backed by other people but a lot is also disputed by others, so i take everything he says no with a grain of salt, at least he doesnt bullshit like hulk though
How could such a vague comment get him in hot water with his wife. Especially since she knew Shawn and Brett were not friends . Brett is one of the greatest ever but he needs to get over some stuff man
It's not unbelievable as sometimes it gets hard to tell the difference anymore. Plus, Bret has admitted to cheating on his wife and maybe she began to suspect that he was getting it on with someone in the same organization.

For a guy who claims to have not only forgiven, but gets ALONG well with Shawn now, Bret sure does seem to get a lot of joy retelling these old stories anytime he got one over on Shawn. He still takes digs, smirks about certain things, likes talking about how he can kick Shawn's ass, etc. He also gave a very different reason for still talking when they went off the air. Here, he says he couldn't hear his cue. But on the Bret vs. Shawn DVD, he claimed he was trying to think of this really good line he wanted to use and couldn't. He can deny it all he wants, but there's still a part of him that dislikes Shawn.

He really doesn’t appreciate all that he had. I love the guy as a wrestler (one of the GOATs for sure!), but as a human, he leaves a lot to be desired. And yes, I agree, he still doesn’t like Shawn, but at least they’re both trying to be friends now. You know who he REALLY dislikes, though? Goldberg… lol. Bret always tries to make himself out like he's the victim. Even in this segment, he says he wasn't attacking Shawn Hickenbottom, but Shawn Michaels the wrestler, that Shawn was wrong because he said something that referenced Bret's real life. It was well known to the audience Shawn was in playgirl. Everyone knew. Believe wef even advertised it, he used the belt in the photo shoot. He also asked Shawn if he could. Thus we get a guy who was cheating on his wife a lot (Brett), just not with Sunny, unjustly accused of one affair, months later getting in a childish dustup, ripping out a chunk of hair which apparently is in the possession of Jim Cornette's ex-wife.

He literally said it was his fault Super kick haven't made air on Raw
It doesn't matter how many Bret hart interviews i listen to he always seems to want to fight someone for real... maybe you need to look back despite the reasons and look at yourself.
“If you run into an asshole in the morning, you ran into an asshole. If you run into assholes all day, you're the asshole.”
Mate you don’t get to give advice to Bret Hart. He gives advice to you.
@@kingstarscream320 you don't just go around hitting people because you are "Bret Hart"
Brett is kind of a sociopath in that he modified this story a ton. IE "Shawn was only upset about the gay stuff because of his parents" so he hit you with the Sunny Day stuff which is way less aggressive at the time. Brett knows people would look at him like a homophobe for that now though lol. Brett really did cheat all the time, was trying to sabatage and likely was really jelly. I think these two brought the best out of eachother because they both wanted to be the top guy.
Jesus "sociopath" is the most overused freaking word these days. They were two guys who had personal issues and did shitty things, it doesn't make them evil.
@@isabelrodriguezsjolund9701 Not all sociopathic people are evil, lying has just been postively rewarded in their experiance here on earth. Shawn was my absolute favorite with Owen, Razer, Benoit, Vince, Macho Man and Angle right up there so of course I did not like Brett at all. When I got older and realized he helped play a good nemesis for some of favorites even though with the exception of the US vs every other country angle his mic work was awful lol I have to admit for that brief period of time Brett was a good heel and less vanilla.
@@elizabeth3280 Ok but lying doesn't make someone a sociopath anyway, its a ridiculous thing to say

@@isabelrodriguezsjolund9701 I said "kind of a sociopath" because he lies with such integrity and conviction. Its not that serious though as I am not god nor holding him accountable for it. He is free to do as he wishes and as a public figure it is fun to point these things out as a pheasant. Relax, Bret*** shall never read these comments
Bret is the worst. Total egomaniac who actually thinks wins and losses are real.
Sunny hit the wall real hard.
Sunny just got 17yrs jail...
So no more sunny days for her..
She will get plenty in prison
In prison then now and forever
Bret typically only says stuff that puts himself in a positive light.
Thing is
Everyone of his peers agree with him (except Hogan)
Everyone agrees hbk is really difficult to work with
@@JonySmith-bb4gxNobody disagree HBK is difficult to work with. It's just this particular story he's in the wrong.
@@bane3991 how is he wrong ?
Hbk did create sunny days nonsense and it did created grandpa for Bret and his family
Though I ll agree on 1 thing . After this Bret did cheat on his wife. Though not with sunny . He accepted that he cheated on his wife .
@JonySmith-bb4gx He's wrong because he took personal offense to a script faked show. It doesn't matter if it caused Bret problems in his home life. He tells his wife and family that it's part of the show and it's fake. It ends there. If people want to be mark's for the business let it be.
He only attacked Shawn because he didn't like him and now he can make up an excuse saying HBK hurt his family. He's wrong. No other way around it. In the beginning he was saying how HBK was getting offended by Brets promos. Why do you think he said that? Because he wanted to make it look like he wasn't the only 1 being offended and taking it like a bitch.
@@bane3991thank you, these Bret marks love to act like he was always this innocent sweet angel who could do no wrong, whenever people state harsh facts about bret. They can't rebuttal anything
Bret is so damn bitter. Talks about he tried to console Shawn about not attacking him personally just his character. And here he is talking about shawn michaels having hair problems and talking about how he threw him around in a real fight.
Bret is bitter as he should be

Bret still wrestled after the Goldberg match
Bret chose to sign with WCW and he was just as difficult to deal with as Shawn. Crying like a woman over some fake shit
Right because when Bret was talking about Owen somehow he decided to speak about Montreal even more than his brother... Amazing Canadian fella
Stu wanted to sell up
Go back to playing video games. You know jack shit
“It’s still real” to Bret
One thing no one can argue about Bret is he loved the business and till his dying day
@@bretth4988this comment made me think he was dead
Doesn't matter what anybody says at least Brett took everything to heart and he actually did what he was supposed to do and do you guys know that he was the only wrestler that only took off 2 days of work in the 14 years he was working there. So of course he's pissed off I mean any company if you're working for someone and they treat you like that of course you'd be mad. He busted his ass for that business more than anybody else. And they should have at least gave him what he wanted not let him lose before leaving but then again you know everything happens for a reason. But I'm surprised he still does stuff with them after what happened to Owen and all the crap that happened to him.
yes that sunny day comment really hurt shawn, hope they can forgive each other, thanks for the great memories bret and hbk
So Bret brings up Shawn posing in Play Girl, which is insulting the character, but Shawn brings up something with another wrestler and that's personal, ok.
Well at least Bret ran it by Shawn first, I doubt Shawn ran "Sunny days" by Bret first.
One was bringing up the character,in Playgirl. The other was bringing up somebody’s personal life. You too stupid to understand the difference.
Did you not hear what he said? He ASKED Shawn first if it was OK.
@@anthonycampos8057plus one was an inside comment seemingly designed to cause Bret problems in his personal life. People need to recognise their biases. You can be a huge HBK fan without twisting logic this far
Shawn's comment was out of line it delved into Bret's personal life.Wrestler's can attack each other wrestling characters not venture into a man's personal private marriage.
Although this was a very serious matter, at *5:51* it's hard not to laugh when Bret mimics Stu saying, "You got something going on with Sunny?" But yes, Shawn had definitely crossed the line with his "Sunny Days" comment; his excuse being that he "was just making a joke." Of course, all Vince did was count the millions and tell them to make it look real. So much for life imitating art.
The guy made it personal then cried when HBK threw personal back at him.

He mentioned it once and if anything it's actually being charitable to Shawn by explaining he wasn't fully himself in those days but has a handle on all of it now
