My favorite moment is when Anthony riffs up to that insane note and then just passes it off to Eli. It's just wonderful! They recently did Hellfire, from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame and Whiskey in the Jar, an old Irish tune. Would love to see you react to them.
Would love to have you do Geoff's version of Jack's Lament. It is gorgeous. VoicePlay is hitting it out of the park this year, check Nothing Else Matters (Metallica), In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins), Valhalla Calling (Miracle of Sound), Creep (Radiohead), Hellfire (Hunchback of Notre Dame), Drunken Sailor.
This past year, it seems like Voiceplay starts each video with a discussion that starts off, "how do we make our last video look lame", and then they do just that. Amazing.
@@TYGER0902 I'm not sure for this one. I know Hoist the Colours wasn't supposed to be Jose. It was supposed to be Anthony but then there was a covid issue with flights or something. They've had to adapt quickly before
Please please let nothing else matters voiceplay be on your list of things to cover. It was one of the first ones they did this year and it is exquisite. Looking forward to seeing your mind blown. Jnone comes back for this one. 😁😁😁
I agree with others that "Golden Hour" and "Creep" is Anthony's best. So glad you are doing VP again! Yes, Layne went mad here - and I love what he did in "In the Air Tonight". Peter Barber is releasing an interview with Layne soon - maybe we will learn more! Hoping motherhood is treating you well 😉. Subscribing for more VP...🕊
There was a lot of post production to get that electronic feel, but that high pitched, computerized kind of sound that you thought was maybe Layne was actually Cesar singing with effect on it! Lots of vocal layering in this and there is definitely some filtering on Geoff’s bass at the dubstep section that gives it a more “trumpet” sound. All in all though, I think that it sounds amazing with the production and it’s in my top five VP songs that they’ve ever done!
For the official audio, which is also used in the music videos, VP often uses significant amounts of production and editing (to the point where their editing software will have dozens of active channels for some parts of a song) and has said in interviews that they do that "because we can". But they also do live performances (there are audience-made recordings of some of them on UA-cam), and while those may not sound quite as polished (and certainly aren't as perfectly mixed) as the official studio audio, they still sound good. So they don't *need* the production, but they use it because they can. I think they have perfectionist tendencies: any improvement that can be made, should be made. Which also explains a lot about their arrangements.
Voiceplay's renditions of Creep and Golden Hour, also with Anthony Gargiula, are (dare I say) transcendent. Additionally, the video for the latter is adorable. Their take on Take On Me, if truncated, wasn't bad, either.
This was filmed in an abandoned department store in the same building as their Patty Cake Studios. Just like their video for Phil Collins' In the Air Tonight was filmed behind the studio with Layne's dad's car.
Enjoyed your review! These beatboxing geniuses like Lane and Adam Rupp blows my mind as well! I love that you love the tenors but I’m afraid I am definitely on the other end of the piano. But I am working on the high’s and some of your comments help me so thank you and keep it up! Welcome back by the way. Hope the little one is doing great. God bless, low bass Kenneth!
I believe voice play is by far the best acapella group in the current genre. Their flexibility and diversity in performances not just songs to me is unparalleled. Thank you for your content, I look forward to watching your reviews and reactions.
I agree. I love all 3 premier a cappella groups today (PTX and Home Free), but for me, with their actual voice play, rhythm changes and even just their slightest tweaks) VoicePlay has first place in my heart (and ears :-).
When I originally saw their early "teaser" preview for this, I thought that Negan from AMC The Walking Dead was about to introduce somebody to Lucille; his baseball bat. Either that, or a very evil Take Me Out to the Ball Game. Also please do their version of VALHALLA CALLING. It is extremely intense. Better than Hoist the Colours.
Anthony has been in a couple of videos with Voiceplay before, apart from this one - he did 'Creep' and 'Golden Hour' with them, would love you to do those! Layne does a lot of inhaled phonation for some of the 'weird' stuff! #subscriptionsquad
Okay, there was a Voiceplay song that dropped in 2020 called Just Sing. Boy, they pull out, just about everybody that Voiceplay has worked with. Anthony is in that song. At the time he hadn't done a collaboration with Voiceplay yet. Well, other than that song. Now here he is again.
I’ve missed your Voiceplay reactions. I hope you catch up on some of them. Since I know you love the Disney reactions, I would love to see your reaction to “Th Hunchback of Notre Dame “!
Definitely a lot more studio tricks and post-production manipulation on this than a lot of their songs. But with the talent they possess, this created something next level, in my opinion.
I don't mind since they don't depend on thise little tricks to sound great. It is only used rately to enhance their talents in the rare occaision they do use it.
if you like this , Try Hellfire with voice play. Disney - The Hunchback - Glad you came back to Voice Play. Anthony also did Creep with Voice Play. Have a good day
Been subscribed to you for some time now, that means well before Dimash! :) And I always enjoy your honest reaction to a video with technical analysis. I've never asked before but may I request a video for you? It's Johnny Cash singing "Hurt". He was an icon to the industry and this was his last recording before his death one year later. It was, and is, a powerful statement about life and one I'm sure you will appreciate.
Id forgotten how much i love your reactions! Im subscribed but youd fallen off the radar. Im a massive VoicePlay fan and this one is bad a$$. I like it even more than the original.
Please react to 'Wayfaring Stranger - Epic Version' by Simon Khorolskiy Feat. Chris Rupp.Chris Rupp is Adam Rupp's brother and a former member of Home Free. He left amicably after deciding to try for a solo career. He collaborated with Simon shortly after that. Their version of this song is...well, epic.
Please do their cover of Creep. Eli arranged it and it's so perfect! That song also has Anthony in it.
#subscriptionsquad
You must have a box of tissues at hand.
During the premiere, someone from the voiceplay camp posted a funny comment, "I think Layne broke his face with this one." Lol
My favorite moment is when Anthony riffs up to that insane note and then just passes it off to Eli. It's just wonderful!

Not lame, more like: "You think we've blown your minds? Just you wait!"
Another Voiceplay with Anthony is Golden Hour. Its really good!
Anthony wasn't even supposed to be in this one but their guest cancelled. It turned out so great!
Who was supposed to do this song?
@@TYGER0902 I'm not sure for this one. I know Hoist the Colours wasn't supposed to be Jose. It was supposed to be Anthony but then there was a covid issue with flights or something. They've had to adapt quickly before
Voiceplay leveled up this year. They have just got better and better. 100% banger after banger
Please please let nothing else matters voiceplay be on your list of things to cover. It was one of the first ones they did this year and it is exquisite. Looking forward to seeing your mind blown. Jnone comes back for this one. 😁😁😁

I AGREE!!! So good!!

You should totally do a compilation of their shorts!!
Ooo great idea!!

Have you heard their cover of "Sleeping in the Cold Below"? It's amazing!!
This was filmed in an abandoned department store in the same building as their Patty Cake Studios. Just like their video for Phil Collins' In the Air Tonight was filmed behind the studio with Layne's dad's car.

One of my favorites from them.
Danielle and Voiceplay combo is one of my favorite things!
What I think is that I'd love to hear what you thought about Cesar's performance.

If you loved this then you will faint for their version of Creep featuring Anthony again.
Girl you really need to watch their version of Golden Hour
Coming next!!
love anthony! been following him since vine was a thing lol
So happy to see you do a VP vid today! You've been missing them. They have really been outdoing themselves each and every song.
I know!! 😭😭 more coming soon!!
Woohoo! Gonna love it!
It has been a very long time, welcome back 😊

Great to see you again I enjoy your views
When Geoff does Geoff things.....you just have to smile and sit back and enjoy the show......

@@barbarakennedy2667, definitely. It's not a crutch for them; it's a garnish to improve the appearance and flavor.
"In the air tonight" is a really great cover by voiceplay. No doubt you'd be impressed! Great reaction btw!
Layne, Kevin and Adam are secretly robot-music machines. Geoff and Tim are secretly dragons with illusion magic.
if you like this , Try Hellfire with voice play. Disney - The Hunchback - Glad you came back to Voice Play. Anthony also did Creep with Voice Play. Have a good day
Having heard VP's cover of this, I listened to the original once, and I actually think that VoicePlay's down-tempo arrangement is more powerful.
listen creep AND nothing else matter .......from voiceplay ...and WELCOME BACK!!!!!

Oh you need to react to their newest one, Hellfire from the Hunchback of Notre Dame
Ooooo added!!
This was the video that turned me into a full Eli fangirl.
Id forgotten how much i love your reactions! Im subscribed but youd fallen off the radar. Im a massive VoicePlay fan and this one is bad a$$. I like it even more than the original.
👍🎶
Geoff does some of the beat box sounds too.
Geoff originally taught Layne how to beatbox. Layne has excelled since then.
Hi, we missed you, you have a lot to catch up from VoicePlay!
So much coming!! Can’t wait!!
where did all of your patreons go?

I love all the testosterone going on in this one!
It's Eli, not Ellie

How about them teeth coverage eh?
It is E lie not Elle!
For his name it is indeed pronounced like ellie
Eli is pronounced Elly - rhymes with jelly - not E Lie. His actual name is Eliezer.
