You need to buy the license from forscan to get access to their forum to download the correct version haha not overly complicated. Just make sure your computer is plugged in and HAVE YOUR CAR ON A BATTERY CHARGER!! Programming the module takes all of 6 minutes however if battery voltage drops much below 11.8v the tcm will not be fully written! (Thus the reason for the bricking). Additionally do not stop the programming midway through, this will also brick the tcm!
I have the Dorman aftermarket re-programmed and robustly modified TCM for my ford focus'13 that works great. Its been roughly two years now in service with my Focus'13. I've tore down and rebuild the tranny, DIY the clutch, forks, release bearings overhaul at the same time during that tcm replace. The TCM's re-work/re-program were done in Dorman US I believed. I just did the relearn procedures with my bi-directional scantool and my Focus back into road service again. Got the Dorman TCM bought from Jegs USA shipped here in Canada.
hard to find at the junk yards....parts guys either pull them as soon as they hit the lot...to sell on ebay...or the parts yard themselves will pull them if they sell pulled parts. whole transmissions can be hard to find too, for the same reasons.
Does the part # for the replacement need to match the original tcm? It matters for the ecm. I tried installing an ecm with a different part number on a '13 Focus, and the ac wouldn't work. Different trim levels apparently have different hvac pieces parts.
Not sure what all you know about the warranty but have you heard of Ford declining it to someone because their vin isn't on the list? I've checked every eligibility detail I can find. I have a 2016 ford focus se hatch. The manufacture date is November 2015, the cutoff month and year for that warranty. The assembly plant was the one listed in Michigan. I'm having all the symptoms for bad TCM and got a code for "Transmission friction element B performance/stuck off". But Ford corporate says my vin isn't eligible for the program. Secondary question, because of that code, do you think the issue could just be actuator B and not TCM?
@@lexielauren1293 I would ask the dealer to see if FSA 14M02 shows under your vin. That'll tell you if it'd truly covered or not. Then they have to diagnose it. In my opinion, that code description sound more like a stuck clutch fork and not a tcm
Hey Ben! I have a 2014 Fiesta and I have a memory code U1013 Invalid Internal Control Module Monitoring Data Received By TCM and a transmission code P074B Unable To Engage Gear 3. I cleared the codes and did a clutch adaptive learn and helped for a day but now the same codes are back and I have a grinding noise shifting through 2nd. Its the same noise on the video you mentioned about the synchros being bad. What is the best plan of action here and do you have an idea why those codes keep coming up?
I would get a used low mileage transmission, and put a new clutch kit in it. And swap your tcm over if you have the redesigned one. Heres an oem clutch kit on amazon: amzn.to/48ppwVJ
Today i change TCM under extended warranty at ford service because of transmission problems. Should i keep the car or it will show some more problems with this crazy transmission. It is a 2014 focus
@lifeminuts you'll still have clutch fork failures every 100k miles on average, and clutch shudder. If you can do the clutch job yourself, it's a great car otherwise
Ben something non tmc related but fork related. What’s your take on second hand forks vs knockoff Amazon forks. I really don’t want to spend a lot and this car won’t travel more than 50 miles a week if that.
Ben my fiesta just crapped out if I turn the key it won’t start then after clicking it starts with engine light on .i drove home gave it some gas rpm go up then come down fast but cars really not moving Then gave me temp alarm on transmission.you think this is tcm I got the p0902 code
Does anyone know how long on average dealerships are getting TCMs nowadays? My fiesta is stuck there waiting on a TCM since today, will I be waiting for months?
So I have a 2014 Escape SE, 1.6L and I am getting the “Transmission Fault service now” message but ONLY when I’m driving about 65Mph. Anything below that, the message never appears. So after it says there’s a Fault, it’ll say “power reduced to lower engine Temperature”. The whole thing is Odd because I can drive 50 miles without any issues, ass long as I stay under 65Mph. Anyone know what could be wrong? Is it a TCM issue?
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles no lights come on, the Red information button comes up but once I shut the car off for around 10 minutes, it goes away and I can drive regularly after.
Wow! Totally missed when you quit your job! Sorry for not keeping up lately! 🥴...Since you are doing YT for a living now, how about trying to put a Rotrex on a DPS6 Fiesta, since we know there is no MAF? 😄
Hey, good to see you again! Money is definitely tight, maybe one day though! Just bought a yamaha fz09 last week though, I can make some videos on that! very fast bike
Good information. I had a focus with a transmission overheat and engine over Rev codes a month ago. Service info and your videos helped determine that either one of those clutch motors was bad , or the clutch itself was worn. The customer wasn't interested in repairs, but your videos still helped.
@@varybrus that seems to be very common. I'm beginning to think the K numbers are a calibration level. A k05 means it is the latest and greatest tcm because that calibration came out when the new tcm was out. The k00 may indicate it was a blank tcm when made. Because all replacement tcms through Ford are arrived blank. I wouldn't worry about it.
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles thx, man. Yes, it's an empty TCM, I bought it from a Ford dealer. We changed the upper actuator A. But after a few hours, errors p0606 and p0902 came up. I'm thinking about changing the TCM... what do you think?
@varybrus p0606 does usually mean a tcm problem. But if yours is brand new, then I'd test the battery, alternator and for resistance inside the positive battery cable (hardness from corrosion)

I have an extra k05, but my new 1month old tcm from the dealership was a K00
Yep. Latest is the K00
The 2 new tcm's from Ford under warranty they put on my 2 focus's are both K00
