Recently i bought a fiesta 1.25 from 2012 with a gasoline engine and a manual transmission. Now it has 124k miles on it and it still runs smooth luckily and i hope it stays that way!
Who did you vote for?
Lol,we have been paying 8.00 a gallon for petrol here in Australia for decades. Welcome to expensive petrol prices.
Here the gallon is 18-19 USA (Romanian and Bulgaria) - so don't be mad... 😉

As a previous owner of a Ford I believe that Ford Engineers should be sentenced to 1yr of watching Scotty’s videos and fixing Fords.
🤣🤣🤣
Amen, Im a former Ford Focus owner and it was the WORST car I’ve ever owned!
Last week my coworker needed a little push to get her car moving. She drives a grey Ford Focus just like the one in the video. I told her Fords are cars you are not be able to afFORD in the long run.
🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
I PRONOUNCE THEM GUILTY AS CHARGED OF CRIMES AGAINST THE AUTO INDUSTRY!
“Because they can and they’re swines!” 😂
And because Ford's are electrical disasters ?
I'll never forget having to take off the bumper cover off change a damn headlight on a lot of 'American' cars: Cadillac, Chevrolet, etc.
@@johnsee7269 I just had to take out wheel well cover to get to my 2010 civic turn signal bulb.

Hey, a Focus Wagon with a Duratec is worth fixing. They run for a very long time, and can carry almost anything. Up here in the Glorious People's Republic of Canuckistan, sadly they mostly died due to rusty rocker panels.
Canada used to be such a nice place until trudeau came along ..
I always like when Scotty is talking about junk yards and a Chevy and fiat dealership pop's up 😆
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I pretty much hate anything built after 2000. Cab forward, FWD and compacting engineering. Might be OK for a super car, if it gets a few more MPH.
But when that 0.001 % more MPG changes a simple one hour job (including sipping cup of coffee).....
To a 8 hour job? I suspect the cars are being engineered by legislatures. Since 2000, I have not found a vehicle that does not have lots of bonehead engineering in it.
Should be a Ford dealer. More recalls than any other auto maker.
Barely over a minute in, and Scotty has already called Ford engineers Swine 3 or 4 times! 🤣😂👍
🤣😂
Especially on the German derived Ford's. Fusions, Focus', Fiestas, Escapes are all unnecessarily difficult to repair. They're engineered like more reliable VW's.
Me and my dad are die hard Ford guys but when we had to fix the cam phasers on my 05 F150 he said "I love my fords but whoever designed this needs to be shot" and I would have to agree. I mean it has been a good truck to me ever since and it has 244k miles on it. But these car companies make cars basically impossible to fix by yourself anymore. There is no working room to do anything. The old vehicles everything is right there in front of you and easy to fix because u could actually get to whatever you needed to fix.
Fords are real good cars especially your profile pic Ford. That looks great
@@MotorTorq_ZA thank you
Lately I believe Ford has gone WOKE & hired engineers based on skin color & LGBTQIA+ membership. The quality of Ford products has sunk.
@@georgevue8175 I can agree with that. To be fair they all have done that in a way sadly
@@Trenton-om9qs When I was in industrial sales I drove a Taurus & a Sable wagon & each of those gave me 300,000 mostly trouble free miles and my 2010 Crown Vic is awesome. From these great experiences I'd like to continue buying Ford products but at the moment I am not sure I can do that.
I think one of the most common mistakes people make is not adding oil back into the system. When you lose refrigerant you also lose a little oil too over time. The first thing DIYers go for is the cheapest can of refrigerant on the shelf and it’s basically just straight refrigerant with no PAG oil to lubricate the system. Another thing to remember, if there’s a bad enough leak where refrigerant and oil can escape then moisture and other contaminants can get in through that hole. A $200- leak can turn into a $1200+ AC job for sure.
Evac+recharge? You're ripping me off, I can get a $20 can at autozone and fix it myself. Complete crooks
@@RidinDirtyRollinBurnouts once you redtek or any other of those. You can never evac the system again. Fine for a piece of crap. But if you want years of service do it correctly.
Dang, just roll down the windows lol
damn,
in a pressurized HVAC system, if there's a "leak" through which Moisture can get-in and contamnate the internals, then tou are right: better replace all and every components, at a dealer shop. 😄

Yeah but Ford just is hilarious lately with everything they do
I drive Ford's, I've sold them with 400k miles, everything worked. You are complaining about one of Ford's best lasting budget builds because putting AC refrigerant was hard?? The car was still going strong with 209k miles on it but you you think Ford's engineers are idiots...yea right dude.
If you have to take stuff off before you get to the problem then it's stupid no matter what type of car. Ford is just an example. Volvo same thing.
I think some fords are great used car deals because everybody think they're crap but their not, and their easy to fix and low cost to keep running.
45 years as a refrigeration engineer, i've never used a scale. Those are only needed for domestic refrigerator garbage. Everything else can handle some overcharge and everything leaks anyway, includes molecular seepage including copper tubes. They have suction and liquid driers and or accumulators . Only thing you need to worry about is liquid slugging. Compressors can't handle liquid refrigerant . It's hydraulic.
Go by temp and pressure. Eff weighing it!
A simple test is wet your fingers with spit and place it on metal close to the compressor suction. If your fingers stick, it's way overcharged.
You're right you're a common sense Joe

Wow, this is nostalgic for me, my parents bought an 07 Focus wagon manual SES trim. They bought it a couple months before they had me( August 2007 ) and they sold their 95 green Neon highline manual that went a whopping 200K miles even with no clutch replacement. Hard to believe a Neon did that. They then sold the ford when it was 6 years old In 2013 with 45,000 miles, & now we have a 2010 Prius with 114,000 miles in MINT condition. And of course, I have my 2006 Matrix that I drive at autocross & take racing. It’s excellent. Only 150,000 miles, & it’s in like new condition, the interior smells exactly like fresh crispy furniture foam, I’m sure you know that smell if you’ve ever owned a 9th gen Corolla or Matrix.
Agree they make life difficult for DIY mechanics but on the Focus mk2 they put those connectors higher up behind the headlight.
I have a 2006 ZX5 and never gave me any problems. I love this little thing and it’s a blast to drive.
My old timer also has 2006 mk2 1.6 diesel manual with about 250k km and it's the same story. No problems and good to drive.
I love ya, Scotty, but you must've been in a bad mood on this AC repair! 😛
That Focus is, at it's youngest, a 2007 and with over 200k miles and it's still running down the road and only needs a simple re-charge! That was an economy car and the fact that that one is going down the road is a miracle! Also, let's be fair, getting to that AC port is not that big a deal. I've worked on cars where changing a stupid light bulb is way more work than that! Let's give Ford some credit here!
His attitude toward the car would have been the opposite if it was a 2007 Corolla with 200k miles in need of an ac charge .
He'd be real upset if he seen my 317,000 mile Focus with still functional A/C. You don't even have to take the wheel off to access that port, just turn it all the way and undo the plastic tabs with a screw driver, then move the liner out of the way, and BAM.
Older Ford's are very reliable and bulletproof engines ,my 11th generation f150 with 4.6l v8 has over 400k original engine.
Well said and agree! We have a 2011 Focus, 85k. Bought it in 2014 with 16k and it has been terrific. Not a single problematic has been great to teach our kids how to drive with it. Well worth the price we paid and plan on keeping it for years to come!
I knew an old mechanic who worked mostly on Fords & Lincolns, starting in the early 1970s. Aside from the frustrating madness of reverse bolts (not righty-tighty, lefty-loosey), Fords back then had needlessly bewildering types of bolts holding things together. If you needed to, say, remove an alternator from a '70s Ford, you could guarantee that the three bolts attaching it to the motor used three different sized bolts (1/2", 5/8", 11/16", etc.). Compare to working on something like a Hyundai where nearly everything is held together by 10mm bolts; easy!
@Tommy Richardson Yeah, that just begs the question of WHY?!? You would think it's easier designing a car held together with just a few standard sizes of nuts and bolts. And more cost-effective!
@@sejembalm Globalism. The mixing of nuts, bolts, and parts made all over the globe.
Mopar is famous for reverse threads.

I have a Ford Fusion 2011 and it is one of the best cars I ever owned, very reliable.
I have a Focus of this same vintage. Disregard what Scotty did and don't remove the front wheel, simply pull in and turn to the left. It will give enough clearance to pull back the lining and access the low side port.
Uncomfortable and inconvenient
Too many vehicles are "turn the wheel".
I absolutely hated fords. Had to take a battery out of a 94 bronco and had to take off the headlight and a few brackets, a total of 20 or so bolts just to get to it. Could barely take it out in the end.

Good content.
This car is a splitten image of my '07 Focus wagon. Same color, same motor. My car has 158K and the motor still runs solid. The trans is so-so, it shifts a little rough for five minutes until it warms up. My A/C stopped working a while ago so I removed the entire A/c system from the car. Only major repairs were motor mounts and a couple alternators, which are really hard to replace on these cars. When the trans finally quits I'm gonna do a 5-spped swap. Manual wagons are cool.
I heard doing a manual swap on that body style ford focus is probably the most difficult car to do a manual swap. Wouldn’t be worth it imo. An 06 and up Honda Civic or an accord sedan with a manual transmission is the way to go 👍
@@VQ.Family manual swaps are pretty simple on these. I've done it twice already. There's a sensor on the end of the crank that needs to be swapped out and most people forget about it and end up pulling the trans back off. Ask me how I know. I also did a 2.5 Fusion swap on a two-door hatch. Was running mid 13's with bolt-ons, LSD and weight reduction. Not bad for an 800.00 car and a junkyard motor. Can do a manual swap during a full weekend with a helping hand. Its not difficult, just dealing with a lot of parts but no tuning issues.

I have a 2013 Focus, the low pressure valve is on the firewall, and the air still works good, and to my knowledge has never been recharged. I have checked it, it is in the middle of the green. It has about 160,000 miles on the engine, that doesn't use oil. A lot depends on how you have treated the car.

Swine's Scotty ? That's a new one, lol. I'm going to have to use that one.
I have this exact car as a extra car and the air compressor runs like it should and the fans kick on like they should but the air blows hot refilled the refrigerant still hot air
I would say before you even check the refrigerant, I would check to see if the AC clutch is engaging. If it isn't, that may be your problem there. More expensive fix, yes, but a quick check. Half the time I've seen cars where the aC Didn't work, the clutch assembly wasn't working. In fact I proved it to one guy that he needed a clutch and not a recharge because with a hammer, I was able to get the AC clutch to engage once, and it blew cold air (until we turned off the car or it cycled, cant' remember). AC components (beyond a compressor maybe) can easily be expensive, like $1000+ so if it's not the compressor/clutch or refrigerant, probably not worth repairing on that Focus.
Heck for cars these days, even if you found a good running car for $1000 or $2000 that's still a great deal, even if the AC didn't work. Good cars in good condition really start around $5,000-$7000 now. No longer are the days of cheap, but decent, $2000 cars.
I always just put the whole can they sell on autozone of compressor oil.

I had a light come on my cord that said baggage carrier lid open. It was a wire that severed in my trunk. There were probably 20 videos on UA-cam telling you about it. So I’m guessing it’s a pretty common problem people deal with when driving a ford.
And I just happen to be the proud owner of an 05 Mustang GT with only 100k miles as of yesterday!!
Hey Scoty, that oil you added change the volume of refrigerate the system holds, increasing the head pressures in the system? What if the oil was added first?
Don't rent the lines or the vacuum pump. Every time I do that the kits are missing gaskets, the pump doesn't work etc. Harbor freight has dirt cheap kits and vacuum pump. If you're doing your own AC its worth the purchase.
Omg I have this EXACT CAR! My 2005 Ford Focus has taught me so much about cars. Bought mine for $1,000 and needed a new idler pulley. Did the job myself and it was my first ever car repair job! Since then I’ve changed bearings, struts, radiator, and I’m about to have to go for the compressor too because it doesn’t blow very cool at stand still and it is so noisy it’s just that time. Bought mine with 140,000 miles and it has 198,000 rn and bout it last year (I do delivery and this is my beater). I feel a lot of people really under value the 03-07 Ford Focus
Hello Scotty love your content and I’m subscribed to your UA-cam channel always give out helpful information so I have a question My 2020 Ford Fusion check engine light is on I got a code reader and it gives me error code p0741 Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit PerformanceOr Stuck Off I appreciate any help you can give me please and thank you
I had bought new a 5 door Focus. I'm a car guy. When I went to change the intake air filter and found out it was a sealed unit, requiring the removal of the left front wheel and inner wheel inner fender, I traded it on a Honda. That was the last Ford I will own.
lol I swore for an entire weekend trying to change the blower motor in my 2012 ford focus...behind the dash, had to take the whole car apart.
Hello Scotty, from Australia
My Volvo V70 2004 ac system is acting strange. When cold starting, the ac works fine for about 1-5 minutes and then it doesn't blow cold air anymore. Refrigerant was full so I had to have a more thorough inspection of the system. Turns out some belt keeps slipping and they want to replace the compressor (700$+ job). I bet the issue could be fixed without needing to replace the compressor but no one wants to fix things anymore.
I love Scotty's honesty!
When you were panning the camera looking for the refill line, I started laughing!
Never been a fan of Ford’s smaller cars accept the crown Vics and the mustangs. But I do love the trucks for the most part. I know that there were some problems with some trucks and the ecoboost is not too good, can’t go wrong with the good old v8.
All of Ford small cars are designed in England though hence they suck
@@gorgeusjames They're fine as long as they have a manual transmission.
@@gorgeusjames you take care of maintenance on transmission you can get automatics just make sure to change fluid and filter regularly that's the key to getting mileage out of them but try to stay away from CVT transmissions they problematic any way you go
But not the spark plugs suddenly dent the hood on there way to the moon🚀
There comes a time when you have to stop living in the past.

4.6 L in my F-150 was a bear to work on. its like they designed tools to reach, just out of "reach" of my regular tools.
My old fox mustang has a pressure relief valve.
