Yo let's get him to 1 million!! Would love some new survivorman content. Has and always will be my favorite show ever since I was a kid
I know how does survivor man not have at least a million subs
Survivorman is coveted by the world. I think UA-cam's algorithm might be biased towards the social influencing content rather than feasibly the exact opposite of that crap.
I’m shocked he’s not at a million or even more. Les has always been the real deal.
@@laddjm Not a lot of people have realized he's on youtube yet. Give it time, he'll get there.
Me too I love les
If Les doesn't hit a million im loosing faith in humanity. This is exactly what UA-cam needs in this brainrot era of the internet.
Glad to see you’re doing well! Your show was a huge part of my childhood. Endless memories of practicing your techniques on the weekends. Thank you for all you do!
Suxkup
Lol jk 🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣😂
Same I watched it with my dad. A core memory for me
Great memories watching Survivorman with my son, and then going out into nature with him.
Youll never see this and plenty of people have said this but Les, you are a large part of our childhood and ill never forget you! This was my most memorable tv show growing up
Protect Les Stroud at all costs, what a king
one of the few people who has a pretty good chance of coming back for revenge if you kidnap them and drop them off in the wild
we all love you les.
My father passed early this year and it’s been tough to say the least. My father and I used to watch your shows together all the time. We used to laugh about how grateful we are for being able to get a simple drink of cold clean water in our kitchen juxtaposed to whatever you were going through in that particular episode. I took great pleasure in watching this program. * my father was also a musician and loved “get smart” tv show !! * thank you for all the years and I am a proud subscriber. Good luck on your 1 mill !
Rip too your pops man he’ll always be with you nobody can take those memories away from you
My condolence random internet stranger my grandma passed last year on Christmas Eve
My grandfather and my mom loved the show
Years ago when I was a kid, we lived in southern arizona, and almost every night I would lay in bed with the window open listening to the coyotes gathering together and singing their little songs. I haven't heard that for many years now, but I do miss their sweet little voices as they would sing together. Since then there have been numerous times that they have walked right by me as I have walked down the sidewalk during an evening stroll. I have said hello to them as they have passed by me, they just look up and keep going about their business. I think it's because I have no fear of them but I do respect them and I think they sense that.
Beyond Survival is still my favorite thing you’ve done, Les. I was 15 or 16 when I watched it first and it blew my mind. That must have been such a life changing experience.
Same! The anthropological info, cultural appreciation, along with skills is freaking amazing!
I'm doing a whole ne re-edit on that series with all the ceremonial footage the network wouldn't let me show - it will be called Ancients Call - stand by for that @@suzanned6226
@survivormanlesstroud I can't agree with you more about Joe Rogan. He is a commercial to everything people without true knowledge want to hear. He doesn't read the facts or do any other research than what Google gives him. You're the real deal man!
Les is a true shaman. I've been living outdoors for over five years, with no tent, and I can't even count how many times this guy has saved my life. Thanks Les, eternally grateful for you. I love the director's cut. I'd rather watch this than the regular show, but Ive also memorized them all.
You can rely on this show.
It would be cool if he made a few shows about his favorite tools, and not being in a desperate situation.
I'm absolutely over the moon that there's new survivorman content.
I personally didn't watch this episode in a while because I knew this director's commentary was coming
Les deserves 10 million subs let alone 1 million. Let’s run it up!💪🏻
Love the heavy, bass-forward feel of the intro - it's TOOL-ish to me, which is an awesome thing.
man les ive watched you since i was a kid me and my dad loved your show he just passed away in april and this video brings back many memories sitting together watching you
Hey Les, big fan. Wanted to throw out there: UA-cam is LOVING shorts right now. The algorithm pushes them in everyones face non stop. I would wager if you take and make 30 second short clips from episodes of you showing a survival tool, or a technique you learned, that may flood people in to the channel with views and just comming across new eyes. Love the content, sending love from Colorado.
This would be a great way to bring in an audience of people too young to have grown up watching Survivorman.
Thank you for more than a decade of childhood/adulthood happiness Les. I can’t wait for you to hit 1 mil and make that special episode. I’m over the moon to hear it. Hope all is well!
The updated theme song does sound great! The nostalgia for the first open is just something special though
This may be the best director's commentary so far. Talking about our irrational fear of secondary predators was great to hear, as someone who was born in NorCal and grew up in Southern Oregon, and spent my younger years hiking camping and morel hunting. Glad you made that point and it is completely true!
Its been too long! Please keep releasing these commentaries, they are the highlight of my UA-cam week every single time. Appreciate you Les!
I'm so glad I rediscovered Survivorman on UA-cam. One of my all time favorite shows. Les is a true badass.
We love you man. U made dreams, made ppl go outside and find hobbies and gave us amazing content and u did much more for us.
In a true survival situation, one should treat every fire-making implement as the last match. Falling asleep "drunk" was more a function of the carbohydrate influx on an empty stomach rather than the alcohol. Always been a fan of this man. What a legend.
Man, this is the stuff I grew up on - This is some next level nostalgia
I'm surprised he's not at a million yet. Survivor Man was what most of us grew up watching
Let's get him to a million, he deserves it a classic entertainer. Loved him as a child there's just so much to learn
Pro tip from mechanic. If you have to bend a pipe use a smooth rounded rock to roll the pipe around it. Think of bending a brake or fuel line or a piece of conduit around a proper tubing bender. Help from crimping/collapsing the pipe.
I am 100% with you on the coyotes, bears and mountain lions. I’ve grown up in the mountains of Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Montana and Arizona. I lived in the mountains mainly because my dad was a forest ranger so we lived in the mountains all summer then we hunted deer, elk in the fall. My dad would drop my brother and I off at the head of a meadow and pick us up at the end of the day. We would hike alone as we fished only to meet up usually after dark when my dad would pick us up, mind you we were in grade school. Not once wether alone or just with my brother unarmed we’re we ever afraid. Everyone freaks out because they hear a coyote or they saw a track of a bear. 99.999% of the time they will flee long before you see them. If you see them they have seen you and most often will run off. There are times I’ve walked past them only to see them laying trying not to be seen. Over and over I hear the same bullshit “ the coyotes” the “MoUnTAin LiON!” Those two more than any other. People hear a pack of coyotes yipping and they think they are heading to eat them. Most often it’s the person that goes camping once or twice a year that seem to perpetuate the fear because they are the experts. Anyways I appreciated your rant and that rant needs to be said more. My dad when we were kids always told us to not fear the outside or the darkness.
Aww man I love it when Les gets fired up. He’s so right about wild animals
I love the rant on wildlife, many people need to hear that. Thank you for your comments, I always learn something new.
this was one of the only shows my dad ever wanted to watch with me
Stag's leap Artemis is AMAZING! you may recall, Stag's leap won the reds in the judgement of Paris.
That original survivorman theme brings me right back to my childhood. So iconic
What I liked most about your series is the moments when you walked out early. It felt grounded, felt like it's important not to forget your priorities - survival and self-honesty.
I thought the Sahara episode was the only time he walked out early. He was sick going in and just couldn't get enough water.
Love this show very peaceful
Never quit Les! Our family loves bushcraft, you need to win Alone!
I've been a faithful watcher of your shows for (many) years, and you saved my life. My adventures are pretty tame, but I recently found myself (along with my friend) in a fr survival situation. SO MANY things you've said over the years came back to me ("you sweat, you die!"), and they directly impacted the decisions we made (skipping over a ton of details bc this comment is long already, but the SAR team was impressed). I'm happy to be able to say that the outcome of my adventure is to have an awesome story to tell.
I have a couple of questions for situations that I don't think you've covered anywhere, in case you see this comment 😊
You NAILED it with the saltwater/fresh water, Les. The ratio is 3:1... if you drink three parts fresh to one part saltwater, you'll do better. The military wants to keep it simple, so "NO SALT WATER". At 3:1 you can stretch your fresh water supplies.
Absolute legend I’m from australia and have been watching you since I was a kid , %100 subscribed 1mill lets go!
Get this man to a million subs people! We need a new original survivorman episode!!😭🙏
I know I'm commenting again, because I'm rewatching this episode. Les this is why I love your content; I literally take everything you say as the real deal gospel truth when it comes to survival. After your Urban Survival episode years ago, I started prepping better for hurricanes. A quick little story: I'm in a wheelchair, an when I was working I had a 1h drive through back country to get home. It was the middle of winter, 28F outside. I broke down on the side of the road, no cell, rarely see traffic that late (it was 1a). As soon as I broke down, I sat there a moment to I guess mentally go through what to do. I said "what would Les do", within the hour I went through my van, gathered everything I could use for survival. Had it all laid out in my passanger seat, and had a plan. Luckily I was only stuck for 3-4h, but I knew I was good because I was preparing myself not to freeze to death. After I went to a sporting good store and built my own road side survival kit I kept my my drivers seat. Now that my daughters are driving, I put together them a kit; window punch, mylar blanket, water proof butane torch, flare, a foldable box blade, etc. Your years of content has made me more aware of survival and how to get through a bad situation. Thank you.
Always love a new directors commentary.
I remember YEARS ago me and my family would always look foward to watching Survivorman or Man Vs Wild. Glad you are still doing good!
I always love seeing Les geek out over the camera shots and deservedly so. I think about the desert shots he did and can only imagine the heat.
Lmao you definately achieved that intro theme where ppl run to the living room when they hear it. Iconic.
Watching survivor man was something I loved growing up. I always made sure my cable service recorded the episodes so I could watch them later. What a fantastic part of my life with lots of knowledge!!!
I was a teenager when survivorman was on. Les was one of the most bass ass guys on tv in my opinion. I absolutly loved the series. Now im 35 and i get to relive these episodes as an adult and listen to les talk about it all over a few drinks. 😂
Still a legend❤
Thats
Hi Les, been subscribed for a while now, great to drop in again and have a listen , I hope you get your big 1M.
"pretty funny eh?" no but Les, you are an inspiration. I have backcountry camped so many times and I look at plants or something and say "if I get lost, I could use that" and a majority of that is from watching you at 10+ years old. I'm an avid outdoorsman now because of you. Thank you. I love your work and am glad to see you're still contributing. I wish you the best life man.
Having a coffee and enjoying one of my childhood heroes go in depth, love it.
Survivorman less Stroud. My childhood hero 💪 I remember most of the episodes and adventures less did. I always wanted to be like him and I pretty much am. I literally live outdoors lmao I still sleep in a nice cozy cabin, I just don't spend all my time indoors. All my friends liked hearing me talk about survivorman when I was in highschool, I'm 30 years old and I'm sure my highschool friends still remember me teaching them about the pie you dead fall lmao I don't know how to spell the actual name of that dead fall but pie you is how it's pronounced 🎉 I tested multiple dead falls and traps hes filmed in the bush and they apsolutly are fun to try at home. My favorite episode was the one where less had the pack horses with him and he brought a fly fishing pole with him. My second favorite episode less did was the swamp episode lol 🎉 remember the spookyness of the swamp and how he ended up catching a turtle. Good times.
2 hour video of Les doing Survivorman stuff?
Yep, I'm in.
That bass line in the intro is ICONIC. Also Neal Peart learned how to knit? Damn you learn something new everyday lol.
make aure you watch the documentary - Beyond The Lighted Stage. Rush doc - its awesome - I was there with the band for the premiere - I sat with Geddy's mom
I always loved reflecting on our ancestors while watching the shows. How much they went through and dealt with through their entire lives... 😮
That is such a wonderful comment. How insightful, seriously.
It is always interesting to hear the behind the scenes extra stories that weren’t on the original episode.
I appreciate the "rant". I love the idea of being able to walk out anywhere in nature and not feeling afraid as you do regularly, but there is something in me that remains fearful and allows me to make up excuses for my "safety". I also know it is a lack of real world knowledge and experience. I'm a short, wimpy woman, my confidence is low, but hearing experienced people say these things confidently can help.
Let’s go!!!! Been waiting for this. Les is the real MVP
Love you brother. Been watching since i was in middle school. ❤ the original theme is my fav.
Nice to see you back Les!! Been missing your content!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's watched every other episode on here and fucking loves seeing a new one
Sitting in that room on that bed/couch drinking wine talking about the thing you love the most!
Les is living the dream! And its well deserved
Survivor Man , never grow tired of watching the pioneer teaching us all how to survive out there in the wilderness 💖 Thank you Les Shroud .
Les, you have been SUCH a huge part of my and my brother's lives. We LOVED your show when we were kids. Now MY kids get to watch you on UA-cam for free. You are so awesome! Thank you for everything!
The reverse drone crash is still one of the best opening shots ever. It's good stuff.
I love the random les stroud plugs. Mid segment, plug, back to the action. I know I’m a les stroud fan when they happen because I’m all about it. And rando’s who don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground start piping up.
Les is an absolute canadian icon such a great human
Les I have been watching you since 2005 and i STILL watch you daily. Love everything you do man!
always been a dream of mine since a child watching this show to go out with les stroud and do an episode such a great show
That's what I do. Watch directors commentary then go back and watch the original episode. I always pick up something I missed the first time around
I really love these commentaries, adds a huge level of understanding and enjoyment for me :)
How does he not have at least a million? This guy founded the genre.
Been watching you since I was a kid and been subscribed to this channel since I found it. I know you'll get to a million.... but if you don't or if it takes longer than expected, there's still 750k+ of us desperately waiting for a new episode in the classic style my friend!
You've gotten me extremely excited for your future plans for the channel! I just watched all of "Beyond Survival" for the first time this past week, and it was phenomenal. I really don't know how I hadn't already seen it, but I can't wait to see the extended versions of those ceremonies and hear why they were cut down. Best wishes from the mountains of Tennessee!
I used to absolutely love this show! I would stop doing my homework just to watch an episode of it on TV.
Tiburon island is the single one I have wanted to watch over every single other episode...I am so thrilled to finally see it.Thanks les!.
Thank you Les! So much fun to revisit these
A true man amongst men .
Legend Fella, i love that you are publishing on UA-cam now, probably just as much money in this for you to make it worthwhile to create more.. please come to Australia, and NOO not the standard bloody outback, I want to see you in the Australian Alpine region, winter. we lose a few in these areas
my favorite part of this episode was the "rant" about coyote and bear attacks! Thank you Les for telling it like it is. America's fear of coyotes especially, is unwarrented and reduculous. I live in the san bernardino national forest and people are so afraid of coyotes; i have ran into several throughout the years and they are always scared and go the other way. I have never encountered a "dangerous" coyote and i have enountered many.
Love getting to hear all the behind the scenes tidbits after growing up watching this show. A lot of great new survival tips in these too, a little bit like picking your brain. Keep it up Les!
Was hoping you'd have a million subscribers by now, you should but ...were all dying to see a new episode.
Less is a legend! Love him forever!
Come on Les! You don’t need a million to go out and do what you love! We’re all here to support you! I’ll spread the word for your channel, but keep doing what you’re doing. I know I speak for all of us when I say we miss you. And we can’t wait to see you back in action.
I grew up with you! I would ALWAYS be on the discovery channel hoping for new survivorman episodes when I was younger. I'm 30 now lol. And yes you did achieve what you wanted with that intro song! Best survivor and outdoor show to ever exist. I learned so much from you. You are a LEGEND.
Thank you for keeping all your content on UA-cam for free.
Oof.
I remember that tough few years after the break-up. While you did your best, under the circumstances, the pain and stress...and weariness was written on your face.
Yep! If you ever read this, it's your Okie Girl from back in the day!
Still your #1 fan no matter how many shows Kathy gets to go to! 😂
I've got pigs to feed, sheep to hay and goats to milk, so in Oklahoma I stay!
You look well, Les. Happy.
I'm glad.
Love ya!
Can't get enough of these!
While I've knewn you through Survivorman, Les, I have to say that Wild Harvest is just art and, in my opinion, your greatest work so far (of course, it would be nothing without (Chef Rogalski!).
Could we possibly get a video of the version including you drinking wine? Or is that like lost? Or possibly a short video of all the drinks put together like am extra. Loved your stuff for years now since i was a kid, keep being awesome :)
we're looking for it now - I wanted to add it to this video but we couldn't find it in time - so it means re digitizing an old tape
Love you and your content! Following for a while now. Hope you get to a million!🎉
Love me this mexico episode . Watched it serveral times. The new intro song blew me away , always loved hearing it, knowing survivorman was on the tv
Wicked editing. Love the way you interact with your fan base. Feels like we're there, Les. Most of all? I admire how you took entire control of your brand for admirable reasons. Highest of fives.
Levack, Ontario, Canada loves Les!!... True story! 😉 Nice to see you in our feed again. 💃
Be safe 🇨🇦✌️
Your the man Les your an inspiration to me I hope someday I can meet you your an amazing person!
I’ve been looking forward to this one in my watch later playlist. Keep on truckin Les!
37:04 for what it’s worth, lighters are relatively common things to find around waterways. People keep them accessible in outer pockets, so they’re easy to fall out; they float; they’re very simple mechanically so there’s not much to break. I’ve found a number of lighters, some working and some not, on lake shores and the shores of Puget Sound.
Les I love the therapy journey this is for all of us. Keep on keepin on.
Watched your series since I was much younger, watching them now with the commentary is great, brings back good memories.
I grew up watching these it’s great to see more
Les is a legend man. ❤
I'm number 799 let's go Les you got this I still believe in you always will
Man, I sub you as soon as I seen it was you. The only survivor to not have a camera crew to back him up! U DA Realest to ever do it!!!
