I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to live for nearly 35 years in many rural areas of the desert southwest. Currently, I am settled in the foothills of the Eastern Sierra Nevada, near the Inyo Mountains, right in the heart of the great Mojave Desert. From here, I have easy access to famous destinations such as Sequoia National Park, Yosemite, Death Valley, Grand Canyon, and the vast canyon lands of Nevada and Utah. Monument Valley, the Painted Desert, the Verde Valley, Arizona’s Sedona Range, and many other fascinating places are all within easy reach, just a short day trip away. While making a living and raising a family in a remote, seasonal area is no small feat, the rewards are well worth it. In exchange for the clean air, fresh water, unspoiled nature, and relaxed pace of life of the people here, I feel a fuel before the job facing less crime, pollution, traffic and those trying to make urban life. The diversity of the whole community between immigrants and international tourists has created a harmonious and rich picture. In these wonderful places, nature and beauty always dominate, the experience of life becomes more special and meaningful.
A spectacular doc: from narration to sound track - visually captivating. Our family, from tots to granny is viewing it again and again and that includes our feline and canine. So appreciated.
I am so blessed to have lived most my 70 years within many rural places of the desert southwest, currently at the base of the southern Eastern Sierra Nevada Range at the foot of the Inyo Mountains on the edge of the great Mojave Desert, being close to Sequoia National Park, Yosemite, Death Valley, The Grand Canyon with The Great Basin of Nevada & Utah's vast canyon lands, Monument Valley, The Painted Desert, Verde Valley, Sedona & The Arizona strip and so many other breath taking locations i have lived & all still within a leisurely days travel. Making a living and ends meet while raising a family in such remote & seasonal areas that depend on tourism was always difficult at best, but the trade off for clean air, fresh water, open space and being in a no hurry attitude of people, and a minimal of crime, pollution, traffic and the other trappings of civilization, this was well worth the struggle the cultural diversity of both indigenous peoples, combined with immigrants and international tourists alike makes for a well balanced human experience in these special places where nature and the beauty way always dominate reality.
I live in baltimore Maryland and my life is so tough just to survive I will never get to visit these places but always wanted to see the world and all the greatest wonder this is the best I will get to being there thank you for this and to all the people that get to see this in person bless all of you.
I pray that you get to see something magnificent in your lifetime. Even if it's only just once. The Appalachians are nearby and very beautiful. So is Florida (Everglades) and there are eco-tours in Maryland outside of Baltimore. You will see something up close I pray🙏🏽
Thank You so much National Geographic may you be blessed and make many videos that enlighten us how we are so blesses despite the many changes our world is currently experiencing
Its not enough. It will take every human being to stop and reconsider our lifestyles. Yes, it sounds depressing, but if you care about your children, what wouldn't you do.
Absolutely breathtaking! This mega episode from Season 1 of 'The Wonder of America's National Parks' is a captivating journey through some of the most stunning natural landscapes. A must-watch for nature enthusiasts and adventurers alike ❤
Fabulous. One of my armchair travel places. Love these National park Documentaries. We Canadians should do some on our National Parks. And throw in some amazing Provincial Parks. Like Algonquin, eh.
@@robertdangelo9659 I meant to thank Nat Geo for making their episodes public so that people who don't have TV connections can still watch them without having to pay for Netflix or Prime as UA-cam is almost free.
@robertdangelo9659 He's thanking National Geographic for making this video available for everyone around the world to be able to view it no matter where people live. Some videos don't show in other countries or sometimes they don't have translation to tell you about the video in your language.
From the rugged peaks of the Rockies to the verdant forests of the Smokies, America's national parks offer an unparalleled opportunity to connect with nature, explore diverse ecosystems, and experience the wonder of the great outdoors. Whether you're seeking adventure, solitude, or simply a moment of awe, these protected lands provide a sanctuary for both wildlife and visitors alike.
Great job on this video, it really captured the beauty of America's National Parks! However, I can't help but feel that while the visuals are stunning, they often overshadow the real issues these parks face, like overcrowding and environmental concerns. It makes me wonder if we should be promoting them so heavily when they might need more conservation efforts instead. What do you all think?
This is such an amazing video. National Geographic is one of the first exposures I’ve had to nature. The foundation of my love for nature started with the magazines way back. I try and capture as much of what I see hiking in my videos so I can appreciate the amount of effort and dedication the production of this video has taken! Amazing❤
Very entertaining... This channel is worth watching to demonstrate the smartest creatures on earth including humans, they don't complaint, can adapt, endure, common sense, intelligence, patience we as a human society most are lacking..! 😎

Are you sure that's Garth? Hey, I just realized the only 2 people I've ever heard of with that name is Garth Brooks and Garth Algar from Wayne's World. Huh, Interesting.
my friend and i spent 10 days by the edge of the river, if u go to the grand canyon and don't go all the way down it's like having a layover at JFK and saying you've been to New York---when we saw a 70 year old couple walking out of the canyon hand in hand with their walking sticks we knew we had to go down there--all we had was oatmeal and water and stayed until a full moon, we met some great people down at the river, one guy even had an accordion and he could really play--best place i've ever been
I just want to offer a suggestion after reading an article in National Parks magazine about Yellowstone what we can do to protect the wildlife ..through possibly closing the parks for a summer here and there just so the wild animals can roam freely and not get hit by cars or disturbed in their daily living. Just a thought. Here is to preservation! :) Great video ..really enjoying the narration and the parks are just so beautiful, makes me want to head out west. We used to live in Boulder, CO ..now Asheville, NC which has a softer beauty.

@thehirimenak7476, except some people go over board with saving the planet where they don't know anything about it. Especially since I watch videos that help me with meditation and sleeping at night. Ads would take away that serenity and peace in the videos I play.
