I cannot overstate how amazing this channel and the director's commentary series in particular is to me. Survivorman was a staple of my early teens and being reunited with it again is nothing but a joy. Watching all the episodes again and hearing Les talk about them in this format is nothing short of perfection. I feel as though I've been reunited with an old friend I haven't seen in years. Thank you to Les and the team for everything they've done, and will do in the future. I look forward to every episode; they certainly make the daily grind easier to survive.
Yes and lets get him to 1M so we can have a Survival Man 2.0 / returns! :)
Agreed! It’s nice to hear of a lot of the background details after watching these all as a teen.
I second this, couldn't have said it better!
Too true I remember the 1st time seeing seeing nature survival in a whole new way. Proud to say I've tried and succeeded in nearly every manner of fire starting and shelter building. Havn't tried the car batterie. God bless, thanks for stopping by my backyard mountains! Looking forward to the future projects.
Hear hear, from a fellow Canadian much like you!
"It's not man vs wild, ever."
That was one of my favorite parts. Thanks for posting.
Ya that was a good shot at him
Looks so cold there, I sleep better watching Les freeze oddly enough. Makes me feel warm under my covers.
Big facts
I wish I could share a bed with Les. He could keep me warm
Make your appreciate your warm bed and meals
Everyone hit the like button and show your support for a new series. Survivorman returns..
Les, the 1st to do it and still the best!
the stuff i learned from watching you build shelters kept me alive when i was homeless, thank you
I love how much you diss the producers and the network. I appreciate your candid approach.
Such an incredible life experience for Max and Andy to go through right after college, and at the level it was done. Patron of the arts should be trending, seriously.
Got home late last night from a week travelling Alberta and taking our kids to various family members for their summer visits etc... First thing I did this morning was dad relaxation time, jug of coffee and survivorman catch up.
Thank you for the continued shows, here's to a million subscribers Les!!!
I absolutely love listening to you talk about your experiences. You're a lovely storyteller, Les!
From a long time fan of the show these commentaries are so great
You are a legend Les. Your like the real life Indiana Jones in my eyes. Much respect and love.
Loved every smuck and smack sound during every meal in Survivorman. Gosh were those epic moments.
I love these director commentaries
Thank you for all the great adventures and knowledge you have imparted over these years. We have taken so much from your sacrifices. Blessings.
Blazing a trail helped me SO MUCH LES.
My friend and I almost got seriously lost. If it wasn’t for you I don’t know where him and I would be right now?
thank you so much;
I love you lots les🙏🏽💗🙏🏽
You are a Legend! Been a fan since I was 21 now I’m 37 and it’s still a joy watching all of your survival videos! The GOAT! Keep doing what your doing Great job!
“What was going on in my life…I don’t care anymore - these were the fun ones…”
It comes across and is outstanding information - I have lived most my life in PNW and you illustrate S&R clearly, consciously. I’ve experienced some wild moments in the Cascades and the western Rockies, sigh long story short - thank you.
I remember when this episode came out. I was at home with the flu and I feel like it helped me feel a lil better and get through the 🤢🤧 time.
This episode was then and still is a great episode now because it shows what rescue teams go through all the time.
Been watching you since day 1 back in the early 2000's Les...Love the commentary about EVERY aspect of the show...especially the business side. CHEERS!
I would be so happy to watch a series with you surviving using different survival kits. Your show is something my dad and I love watching together and I recently let him know about this channel. You are awesome Les keep up the amazing work!
Les thank you for an amazing childhood of learning.
The mouth edit in the beginning was perfect, thanks editor guy
I have looked up to you for several years now, I love these videos 😁 Thanks for all you do Les!
42:55 Thank you for highlighting the technique of looking back to see the trail from the other direction.
It's such a simple way to make sure you understand the path, and avoid confusion in the future.
It's something I learned as a cub scout, but often goes unmentioned.
Got lost on my own property due to not paying attention to what behind me looked like! We came out on the highway a few miles out just before dark. I was ready to become a feral person after an hour and a half. XD
One of my favorite episodes les!
One of the few shows like this that I go back and re-watch.
Les i used to watch your show with my brother and it made us more brothers and as a kid it was the the best he pass away sadly but watching this with him makes me so happy i swear you change me and I'll forever be grateful to you sir.
Les, love this directors commentary series. Provides a good insight on not only what it takes to survive but also what it takes to film the show. Thank you!!
Thank you for posting all of these incredible series on UA-cam, Les! I especially love these directors commentaries. Please don't apologize for making fun of the "other" shows as well! The rip-offs deserve to be ridiculed as often as possible - None are even in the same league as the original, Survivorman!
These are my favorites. By the way Les, I've been intending to watch the whole wild harvest first season straight through since it was posted and things keep getting in the way. Well I've started and I'm through episode 5 of really sitting down and soaking it up. What a gem that show is. Makes me laugh makes me smile, it's relaxing, informative, the camraderie is great, the cinematography, and the recipes!! Inspiring me to go out and find more. In my area I've gotten wild blue, huckle, and raspberries, wild cress, wild onion, dandelion, and pine nuts... I know there's more out there and I'm pumped to find it and see what combinations can be created, haha
This is one of the best director commentaries yet...and that Contact Delivery read was done geniusily.
I LOVE these! You are such an inspiration to all. Nature is our baseline! Keep em coming Les!
Love from India I still remember my childhood
I never bothered with any other of those contrived "survivor" series. This is just a dude with a couple cameras in a survival situation, making it as real and relatable as possible. Pretty damn simple....and really damn good. Nice work, Les and crew.
Id love seeing Les do normal overnighters or campingtrips where he just has a fun relaxing time. Maybe a beer and some stories/tips by the fire
Love this Mr. Stroud, thank you
so many positive comments already, i know. but just wanted to add mine, thank you Les not just for the show, but for who you are. genuine, honest, kind, etc. hope you're doing well and cheers from California!
wonderful Commentary les and cant wait for wild harvest season 2
I used the blazing a trail on both sides of the tree when I used to hunt. I learned it from you, Les. Thanks, man. You rock!
Congratulations on the yellow cedar award!!
Hello Les.
Thank you for your hard work on all these videos. I have learned so much from you.
We love ya Les. You are the survivorman
Les, You don't have act like that smoothie was all good.
You are the Greatest at producing Real, survival situations. Millions of people now know how to survive thanks to U. Keep on please. Honestly.
Great insight. I still watch the old episodes every year. Thx!
I am one of those that like to absorb the Nature of the hike but I am enjoying Les's commentary it gives reasons why things are happening in the show. I am sold Les`s thanks for the Commentary.
I didn't know there were SAR episodes! I'm a member of a SAR team in BC and having such a real life training opportunity would be amazing. That is awesome.
Your commentaries are my go-to when I'm not feeling too well. Your voice calms me down. I've been watching your show since the beginning. I'm so happy you're in good health and still around to teach and entertain us. Thank you so much.
I remember being a long time watcher, and excited, when this episode came out. I feel old now. I am ready for the exercise videos Les. Let's do this, after I take my pills, pay my mortgage, see my kids off to school, and balance my checkbook, of course.
WE GOT HIM!
i grew up watching your shows and gaining an immense amount of respect and understanding for the wilderness and outdoors, especially survival. thank you
i´ve seen a lot of so called survival shows before i stumbled across Survivorman and i immediatly fall in love with the concept. One Man filming himself, that just got me. I´ve seen Alone in the wild and was disappointed to the bone. Survivorman shows what it takes to stay alive. I really like how much effort you put in there, different camera angles, i watched it and thought: "How many times he must have walked back and forth to get these shots?" Thank you Les Stroud, thank you very much. Greetings from Germany
Love the commentary and behind the scenes stuff. My family has been watching since the beginning.
Thank you for all the amazing content!
Speakin' of dates.. . Love the shows and the extra info you provide. These are a real treat.
Love the commentaries 💪🏽Australia
Hi Les!! My brother and I have been watching you since we were quite young it's been about 15 years now. I had no idea of the crap you had to deal with behind closed doors, whether it would be crew issues or producers issues and more. I just want to say thank you for sticking with what you believed in! 🙏 You may not know this, but you taught my brother and I more than just survival in the outdoors. You also taught us how to be independent and trust ourselves and our decisions because sometimes we can not rely on others to get us out of rough situations.
One thing I love about Les is that despite him being in tons of different survival situations completely on his own with few resources (and almost dying on occasion, even being stalked by a Jaguar) AND going through the trouble of filming all of it, he never feels the need to put on this bullshit tough guy facade you'll see from some folks on the internet. He doesn't have to prove his masculinity by subsisting on only steaks, calling everyone that doesn't share his lifestyle a "pussy" or its variants, invests in daytrading and tries to sell you a $4000 course, none of that bullshit, and is perfectly fine with showing how to make his fruit smoothie (which is delicious!), and admits his reluctance to kill animals, even in such situations. He's survived in quite literally every sort of environment the Earth has to offer, he doesn't have to prove anything more.
BTW Les, which nut milk do you use your your smoothie? It might also benefit from the addition of milled flax seeds, which aside from extra nutrition, thickens the smoothie more, for texture (go easy on it if you aren't an active eater of them).
Great show Les and crew. Really enjoyed this show this morning with my coffee. Learned a lot too...thank you!!
The Director's series is growing on me. Thanks for the work Les, and adding new content to something as in this case is almost 20 years old!
Love your insights Les! These director's commentaries are incredible!
Les, people that may complain about you mentioning the times that Discovery and other took advantage of your creation and your hard work have no idea how it feels to give your absolute best, and pour your heart into something and in the end take the short end of the stick! I love you brother and I must say that it hurts to hear that these people did that to you. God provides Les and he will honor you! Thanks for all you do man! Love you truly!
love you les thanks for being apart of my childhood
Cheers! ❤️
I love seeing the "behind the scenes" les. The normal just chilling les. I grew up watching survivorman my whole childhood on the science channel. Now I'm a subscriber to my role model. You're the best Les.
I think that was the best ad read I've ever experienced! lmao
Man I love this guy.
Chew up Lester!! We need you strong when 1m comes around and you hit the wilds again!!!
Also loving the longer form videos. It can take a few views to digest but well worth it
I love a commentary on ANYTHING. Used to by DVDs just for the commentaries.
Thanks Les, for all the great content over the pandemic.
Into the thick of it
Into the thick of it
But we can't see where we're going
The bush is kinda tricky
The path is never straight
And sometimes there's no path at all
Which makes it hard to navigate
Into the thick of it
Into the thick of it
We're going round in circles
UGH!
Starting my Saturday with nearly 2 hours of Les Stroud and Survivorman, one of the best ways!
Your directors commentary shows have cured my depression.
I love that there’s a visible camera even in the directors commentary shots
Quite fond of your Director's Commentary, they add a new dimension to the episode. Good move!
Les, you are my go to brother. Thanks for everything.
Love your work les. From Georgia USA.
Thanks again Les
Thanks for doing these, Les. Keep it up!
“Its NEVER man vs wild. EVER.” The shaaadee, i absolutely love it haha.
Keep up these commentaries, Les! They are amazing!!
Man I LOVE these DC's! Always looking forward to the next. Thanks Les and team!
Love all of this great content Les! Training with survivorman sounds like a nice idea. I would enjoy a workout while lost in the woods! When is the meet up? Lol
Right on! I just put in my calendar for tomorrow to look up local S&R teams.
Thanks again for the director's commentaries. It's awesome to get the behind the scenes take on my favorite episodes.
Ah sweet!
That close up lip smacking had me cracking up. Hahahaha
Random survival UA-camrs having more subs than les is criminal. We need to get him over a million
I grew up vacationing every summer at Bass Lake, home of Willow Creek and Devil's Slide. So many memories of that 40 degree water lol. When this episode first aired I had just graduated HS and the nostalgia was real. But mostly it made me so happy that one time, I knew exactly where Les was :) Lifelong fan, especially your music
A series on different survival kits starting out with a comprehensive kit you put together yourself for the area you'll be surviving in.
Yeah! That'd be a great series Les.
Episode 1. Your own kit.
Episode 2. Cheap kit.
Episode 3. High-end kit.
Episode 4. Abandoned cabin survival.
Always nice to see a new commentary.
Awesome channel to be subscribed to! Next time your outdoors you’ll think to yourself wow thanks to Les I’ll be alright!
The absolute best thing on UA-cam! Les I'm so happy your content is on this platform and I can't wait for you to hit 1 million subscribers so we finally get more survivorman!!!!

This content is gold.
Outstanding. . . .
Love it. Thanks Les.
I love to watch again this episodes with you, great experience and good memories
I remember watching survivor man since I was little and I'd like to thank you for doing what you do
I loved when you found food to eat on your shows. The sheer enjoyment you had when eating made MY food taste better
Really enjoyed this! Thank you for another really fun director’s commentary!
Can’t wait for more Q&A, as well!
So appreciate all your time and effort with these and you making this available to us!
I’ve been to some of these exact locations in this episode. Every summer Devil’s Slide was our usual spot to go to. We moved to Bass Lake in 1977 when I was 3 until I moved in 1995. I miss the Sierra’s so much.
52:47 Nice call back to the montage in the desert.
