It's funny because this Norway episode is definitely one of my favorites of yours, just felt the most real to me... BUT I remember rewatching it fairly recently and thinking how you were acting kind of different, when you entered that house on the lake. Like with the little hunters cabin, you were so happy to be there and then this place you walking through it with a maybe concerned or even a bit of a spooked look on your face. So it's very interesting now to hear that you were in fact a tiny bit spooked. Also interesting, your mood and demeanor completely changes when you go back downstairs. It's all even more strange coming from someone like you and I hope you don't take that as an insult or anything. Anyway! Great episode and commentary

I love the son's will to live. He may not have the knowledge to the point of his dad, but I can trust him enough to catch me some fish. He was smart about catching fish too, recognizing where the fish might be at and then catching some.
Les! My grandfather was the owner of the chestnut canoe company. My father, and uncle etc all grew up building canoes when paps opened up the shop back in NB - and i spent a great deal of time canoeing and camping with my father growing up. I'm not big into Nationalism - so there are few things that make me feel "proud to be a Canadian", or - "i'm happy they are Canadian", or they are "ours". However if someone were to ask - my response would be "the tragically hip", and "Les Stroud". Great to see your channel growing!
Man I used to love watching your show as a kid, recently decided to UA-cam you and see if I could find a new show, and man let me tell you how excited I was too see all these new episodes along with all the old ones I used to watch. I ended up binge watching your whole channel, best way to unwind at the end of the day. Just wanted to say I highly appreciate the content that you put out for us
When I first watched the episode the footage inside the house made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, a bit like watching The Blair Witch Project. I never saw the additional footage and hearing the story now is great... and creeping me out. Excellent! :)
Loved this two-parter, and the commentary. Aside from everything else, it gives me such pleasure to see Les, after all his adventures and survival ordeals, kicking back with a smoothie or enjoying wine o'clock (or enjoying the incomparable beauty of Istanbul by the Bosphorus). But in addition to all that, I particularly loved Les singing a snippet from a (brilliant) song by Squeeze while preparing those Norwegian blue mussels!!!
Hey Les. Not sure if you noticed but @ 1:48:35 , whatever that thing that is haning in the other room, why was it swinging back and forth? It was doing that for a few mins if you didnt notice.
You also mentioned the only thing you found in the house was salt. Salt is used in some religious practices as purification or protection from evil spirits.
Brother Les, you always came across. as 100% genuine with all you do. Thank you so much for your great work! I never get bored watching your adventures.

Awesome episode! Thanks so much for doing this! Crazy that you almost died and then have experiences with ghosts. So glad you're still with us! You should update us on what your kids are doing these days.
I never believed in ghosts or spirits until I worked in an old house and when I was alone (and many times when I wasn’t), I would hear footsteps, doors would open and close, voices, and a deep sense of not being alone. I would have to tell clients that I was expecting coworkers to be coming in and leaving so that when they heard someone walking around and talking, they wouldn’t get freaked out. We moved the business to another location and I have not had a single creepy weird experience. I know exactly the feeling you felt. Was it all in your head? Was it all in mine? Who knows? But it didn’t seem all in my head when clients asked me who was calling my name in the other room and I knew we were “alone”. I’m just glad to be out of there, finally.
I remember watching this episode and feeling scared for you and feeling anxious as you were on that hillside. I knew full well you were going to make it out but damn man, that was intense. Very thankful you made it out okay Les.
I never saw this episode before. Jesus Les, that was terrifying. I can imagine what was going through your mind and what you were saying. I'm a dad too. The angels were with you that day.
I don't know what it is with the people you mention that just don't read the title of the video you're posting. I really enjoy your directors commentaries, more than your network version. I like the insight to why some things had to happen the way they did. I look forward to each and every one! Thank you for all the years of arm chair wilderness training! We'll see you out there someday!
This one was always my favorite, and reliving it with you on the Director's Cut was awesome! It was neat to find out about the ghost story, because I remember first seeing this second pt and wondering why there weren't many scenes in the house. Being in the US, we always got the shorter episodes. Probably so they could sell us advertising, LOL
I hope you meet Les in person someday. This guys is a huge inspiration to my channel as well. His filmmaking is amazing. He's actually the first vlogger too lol with a selfie stick. He's the godfather of youtubers lol amazing content
I have not read up on demonology or any such thing, but I love the idea of the spirit, as in it being a Norwegian spirit, having absolutely no idea what you are saying. And instead thought to itself, "Oh, a foreigner, let's leave it alone."
@@RobertSlover I'm a Puritan and a Whig, I have no choice but to believe that the material world we can observe is just a small piece of what is. The modern invention that is the religion of Atheism, is the intellectual equivalent of a disgruntled child picking up the ball and going home.
It is interesting on your commentary about saying "Good spirits" that you said this as a way to reassure yourself. That actually does come across in the original video. I remember thinking "he must be sensing a ghost". Lol.
Les my favorite season & episode are all of them I've been with ya since the very beginning back in 2000 on the Science Channel btw I was asked one time how can I watch this show over and over again I said it's not a show each and every episode is a teaching tool 💯
Norway always was my favorite episode, also one of the first I saw on German television. getting this extra long Commentary about it is great, and the ghost story makes it even more special! I really hope you expand your "paranormal brand" more. Even the naysayers should admit, that those are good campfire stories.
Les, watching your show always brings me back to those days of sitting with my dad after dinner to watch. We'd always laugh at how ridiculous bear grillz was compared to you. Memories I'll always cherish
I didn't believe in ghosts until I lived in a haunted house. The things that happened in that house made it blatantly obvious ghosts are real. Since then I've had various encounters and lived in many not-haunted houses. The house I currently live in now is haunted though, by a rather friendly ghost who lets me know she's around a few times a week. Anyway my point is I BELIEVE YOU LES.
Ur mind can play tricks on u. There are several experiments where they recreated "ghost" experience and obv. there was no ghost there. There is a reason why there is no proof till now. Maybe there is another explanation for the phenomena and in 100+ years people will know exactly how these phenomena arise without them being real ghosts. It used to be thought that lightning was also sent by God.
Your commentary is excellent as always. As an amateur cook, I've also been following Wild Harvest and loving the content. Even used some yellow Woodsorrel to some camp dishes recently with some tasty results. Thanks for always giving me something insightful and interesting to enjoy Les.
During the freaky Norwegian house examination and how you described your feelings for the upstairs of that house, it really reminded me of the concept of liminal spaces. Liminal spaces are unsettling spaces, not of conventionally haunted areas like graveyards or rundown mansions, but spaces that exist in everyday life and are familiar, but are incredibly unsettling when someone stops and actually examines it like what you did when surveying the 2nd floor of that house. One other common aspects of these spaces is its emptiness when the it would be stereotypically full of human activity. Another is lighting. Lighting plays a big part in a lot of liminal spaces and those rooms with the super dark hall way gives off some eerie vibes.
What's weird is this: when watching this for the first time on air, you went in and I was kinda creeped out. You went upstairs and I was thinking "Nope." It was even more creepy. I don't know what it was but everything there was just creepy as heck. Even the kitchen scene. Now watching your commentary, seeing it again, same feeling. Now you tell us how it actually was being there.........well let's just say this Les, it translated on camera very well in my book.
There are times at work when I work up a sweat, and have to run into the walk in freezer which is near freezing temperatures. Les isn't joking about sweating in that scenario. Anything more than 20 seconds in there is pure agony.
1:58:50 My family owns a house from 1860 on an offshore iceland in Norway. Every time I am there alone, (spechaly in the augthom and winter), I get this chill nown my spine and the hairs in my neck stand up by them selfs. I think to myself that I dont beleave in ghosts... leftbrained chemist that I am. And then I think to myself: Why do you say to yourself that you dont beleave in things every fibre in your body tells you that are real. Its like I feel the presence of my ansester, and its freaking creepy as hell. There has been people "surviving" on that property you were at since the viking-age... I beleave you Les!
When I was a kid we went to a ski resort in NE OR state named Tollgate. Three of us hiked into the wilderness using showshoes. When we stopped for the evening I dug a small snow cave in a hill side and the other two made a small igloo-like structure. It was amazing how warm it was inside there. Also how bright with one candle going.
@1:27:19 On the note about "Nothing Noble" I think you're selling yourself short Les, any lesser man would've given up and died there on that mountain but no not you why? Because you are THE Survivorman. One of the few people that I look up to. Your teachings and words resonate with me so much still after all these years of watching you.
When i watched this the first time i was hoping that at any second you wouldve found your way down. But the more it went on the more harrowing it got. Especially after being in a nice warm cabin with buck meat. But when you finally got down, the feeling of relief was through the roof.
I used to think that ghosts were complete fabrications and the result of sensory illusions or paranoid hallucinations, until I encountered what I can only describe as a ghost in my own life. There are things in this old world that exist beyond our everyday comprehension.
@@RobertSlover No, it's not. Not in this specific instance, it wasn't. It was corroborated by my gf, who was in another room on another floor of the house and heard the whole thing. I can go into the details, if you like.
I'm not even a survivalist, just an average hiker, but I can tell you from personal experience that this mountain side descent must've been absolute hell.

I never saw this episode before. Jesus Les, that was terrifying. I can imagine what was going through your mind and what you were saying. I'm a dad too. The angels were with you that day.
Good tidings from the Painted Desert Arizona. God Bless you and yours .
LOL the birds outside my window responded to the birds in the opening sequence 😂💜 can’t wait for this one!!!
I’m not saying this is boring but I’ve been using these videos to fall asleep at night.. Mahalos Les from the North Shore of Oahu! 🤙🏼
Eagerly awaiting "Survivorman: Ghosts" now!
Hey, Aussie's like to swear when we're stressed too, no just Canadian's. So glad you made it out!!

@@RobertSlover Hopefully, as you grow older, you may read some decent books along the way.
Perhaps then you will grow beyond a single quote.
@@Hugebull 😋😋😀
It is interesting on your commentary about saying "Good spirits" that you said this as a way to reassure yourself. That actually does come across in the original video. I remember thinking "he must be sensing a ghost". Lol.
Never thought I’d see a full 3 way les scene on youtube… but I did… and I liked it.
Love your shows Les!!😊❤😊❤
Les my favorite season & episode are all of them I've been with ya since the very beginning back in 2000 on the Science Channel btw I was asked one time how can I watch this show over and over again I said it's not a show each and every episode is a teaching tool 💯
Norway always was my favorite episode, also one of the first I saw on German television.
getting this extra long Commentary about it is great, and the ghost story makes it even more special!
I really hope you expand your "paranormal brand" more.
Even the naysayers should admit, that those are good campfire stories.
Premiere at 3:30am. Nice.
Nice.
Perfect.
It’s 5:30am somewhere…
Pukykundoba
Les, watching your show always brings me back to those days of sitting with my dad after dinner to watch. We'd always laugh at how ridiculous bear grillz was compared to you. Memories I'll always cherish
that Zappa quote is from one of my fave songs! nice reference Les! awesome
Thank you for all that you do. I’ve appreciated you and your videos for a very long time ❤
I love the director commentary so much!!!
I really want to hear the raw music written for this episode. It's amazing 🤩
BMA
Just do not fear them & they won't be able to do anything i promise!!
Just fear "The God"!!!(I.A)
No ghost in this episode
Ur mind can play tricks on u.
There are several experiments where they recreated "ghost" experience and obv. there was no ghost there.
There is a reason why there is no proof till now. Maybe there is another explanation for the phenomena and in 100+ years people will know exactly how these phenomena arise without them being real ghosts.
It used to be thought that lightning was also sent by God.
2 haunted houses? What a coinkydink!!! Sounds like u came in looking for the ghost and of course found it
Les, I'm from Missouri, USA... we also wearing them long John's 😂
St Joe Mo here!
Everyone who goes out in the bush in the winter does!
Im so excited!
This was AWESOME! 3x the Les.
More Les is more it turns out
Les interrupting les interrupting his show is why I love all these extra stuff!
Tapped out after 22… I’ll give it another shot some other time. Thanks Lester 🤙🏼
For me, this film just reenforces why soo many people call the snow white death, and remembering my personal experiences in the snow many years ago.
Your commentary is excellent as always. As an amateur cook, I've also been following Wild Harvest and loving the content. Even used some yellow Woodsorrel to some camp dishes recently with some tasty results.
Thanks for always giving me something insightful and interesting to enjoy Les.
This is going to be totally awesome!! Can't hardly wait!! 👀👀
Dude was drunk before the video started. He’s more so when he starts riffing Frank Zappa lyrics.
Its nice how you showed respect to whatever was there in that house. I woulda been scared too
What's weird is this: when watching this for the first time on air, you went in and I was kinda creeped out.
Les needs 1 mill subs hes worth it
There are times at work when I work up a sweat, and have to run into the walk in freezer which is near freezing temperatures. Les isn't joking about sweating in that scenario. Anything more than 20 seconds in there is pure agony.
Love the Zappa quote;) thanks Les 😊

My family owns a house from 1860 on an offshore iceland in Norway.
Decided to look up the survivor man (a show i seen every episode of) and this is where i started and this was awesome!
Les watching Les watching Les is somehow much more.
I'm certainly glad you made it.
I really like this dude. Talk about a role model .
I used to think that ghosts were complete fabrications and the result of sensory illusions or paranoid hallucinations, until I encountered what I can only describe as a ghost in my own life. There are things in this old world that exist beyond our everyday comprehension.
"its all in your mind you just dont know how big your mind is"
@@RobertSlover No, it's not. Not in this specific instance, it wasn't. It was corroborated by my gf, who was in another room on another floor of the house and heard the whole thing. I can go into the details, if you like.
@@miltonbates6425 you missed the point milton....
@@RobertSlover I missed the quotation marks. Haha.
@Milton Bates Gimme the details I am now curious
I'm not even a survivalist, just an average hiker, but I can tell you from personal experience that this mountain side descent must've been absolute hell.
Les is one of the few that won his right to drink on camera. Cheers!
a video showcasing some of the local turkish musicians would be awesome!
