My tilt stopped working too.But I thought I could fix it because I race and build slot cars.I also rewind motors and the tilt motor is a giant slot car motor.I took it apart cleaned, made sure the brushes were making contact and lubed it.I put back in the car and it works.
Thanks for such great video. I believe many GS300 or Aristo owners out there started to develop into this problem now. Mine, started to move up and move down when i had the car key inserted.
I just adjusted it to the position where it was default. Just gonna try to adapt driving with the wheel at that angle bec i honestly feel like in the future the motor or something will fuck up, cuz it’s constantly going in and out to my preferred adjustment. It ain’t even that bad, i recommend y’all do the same if you just wanna be safe than sorry, because these GS400’s are slowly becoming rare cars
Nice video. The "soot" on the commutator is graphite; it lubes. Brushes just ran out. The armature is the one with scores on it, from when they balanced it.
Biggup! I have a 2004 LS430 that I've had for a long time. Tired of paying the dealership. This fix I plan to do myself. My concern is that the used tilt parts online aren't guaranteed to work. The OEM new part is around $340. I will take my chances with a used part first. Respect from Maryland via Mandeville.
Same problem I had with my sun roof motor in my LS430 and my retracting in/out motor on my car is out too the up and down one works. Thinking of just cleaning it with steel wool wire and alcohol. It worked on the sunroof.
Just fix the motor.I couldn't find a motor so I took mine out cleaned the armature checked the brushes were serviceable lubed both shafts and it works great.Note only two of the screws hold the motor in place. The top left and the bottom left.
Well, this body style Lexus stopped being made here in 2005 I think. If you have a later one than my 1998 here, you can remove the motor, and clean off the contact point that I showed in the video. This should also work. If the motor is the issue.
Any idea where the 'Multiplex Tilt and Telescopic ECU' might be located under the dash? Think mine has a short and is causing a draw on battery when off.
Hey there! My daughter had a beautiful little Lexus that she wrecked… So, we went to the junkyard and got her steering wheel motors from her wrecked car because we knew they worked. Now we are replacing the perished ones in her current Lexus. I have a question… How far do you screw in the motor before you replace the cover? All the way? 2 1/2 turns? Please help!!! You didn’t show that part. Otherwise, awesome video.
Her wrecked Lexus at the junkyard has been very handy for spare parts… We are fortunate to live in a small town so that it has not been completely stripped of parts.
You call it tilt and telescopic .Oh yes noticed that the kickpanels was wood grain if youhappen to go back to thatwreckers could you pull both the sides and send to me to Australia Thanks
Can that feature be turned off? I had an RL that had a on/off switch on the column so you can set and forget which in turn would strain those parts far less.

I own a 2000 GS300...243,200 ODO miles (in CA)... great engineering if you care for it properly.

Do you know if the steering wheel motor works for other Lexus cars that had this or is it cad specific?
Good job! I need the in n out part ima see if pick n pull got my car ima do it myself

i'll have to check it out. bit of experimentation can't hurt when the telescopic feature doesn't work at all@@WelcomeToTheMadness
@@WelcomeToTheMadness hey keep up the great work! cheers
I can't wait till your done with this build! Kinda cool to follow the entire process 🤘😜
You have no idea how it will be a sign of relief when done!

How did you get the furthest back motor back in? I'm having trouble getting mine back in
Nice work... quite the luxurious ride ! Electric steering wheel adjustments ? that is just asking for trouble !
Funny story: the car is 21 years old!
brother can u please right down the part number and send it to me im having trouble finding the motor

Now do a video on how to repair that busted-ass steering wheel cover. That thing has seen better days.
My mom's 1998 Lexus gs 300 just had the tilt motor quit on me. I was driving to work with the steering wheel up. 😬
Did you get it fixed? I've been driving with my steering wheel up looking like a trucker for a week lol.
@@cowboy6187 no but it seems like the tilt motor freezes or it doesn't move in cold weather
@@btrdangerdan2010 oh. I'm in florida. I definitely have a different problem lol thanks though.
Lmaoo me rn 😂
@@priscillachapa269 we do t have the car anymore after the engine kept overheating even with the radiator replaced
Good job
Does anybody know how far to screw in the motor?
The motor should be in a fixed place to bolt it down. Are you talking about the screws that hold the motor in place?
You call it tilt and telescopic .Oh yes noticed that the kickpanels was wood grain if youhappen to go back to thatwreckers could you pull both the sides and send to me to Australia Thanks
Hi Murad did you ever go those ?
Can that feature be turned off? I had an RL that had a on/off switch on the column so you can set and forget which in turn would strain those parts far less.
This car doesn’t come with that option. Might be able to disable the fuse to the entire system, or the power, I’m guessing.
Unplug the harness going to the motor just set it where u want it first.
Uh oh big baller with all working parts
😂😂😂...Good to see you back on UA-cam.
Too many opportunities for immature commentary 😂
I edited many of them out...trust me it happened.
