Loved the review, Alex. Just as a side note, the links at the top DO take you to the Lenovo site, and even tease the YOGA 9I, but the first goes to the same as the second, and there is no 9I available on site (just yet, I imagine). Great laptop for just about anything graphics intensive, but the 16" lends itself more towards drafting and 3D CAD with the integrated numpad. Because of the addressing of a keyboard with a numpad vs one without, the more robust software titles are able to incorporate more functionality via the numpad, streamlining their process trees. Overall, I do look forward to this offering becoming available, although I would like to see a comparison of what the 9I compares to a similarly kitted out Framework, as it sounds like there are some exciting options becoming available for it as well.

  • @Nalsii

Numpads are basically a necessity for languages that use the number row on the QWERTY primarily for diacritics or special characters, I myself couldn't work without it. However, my gripe is the absence of full-size up/down arrow keys, which I also couldn't work without. So I'd have to pass on these if I'd considered them for on-the-go work.

My first laptop was the Lenovo Yoga Pro 2, which I chose specifically over the comparable Sony Vaio because the keyboard is better, and I am still loyal to Lenovo because of their keyboards, even though that model was flawed because of the RGBW display that had terrible yellow reproduction that was never fully fixed. After it died after five years, I got the (European) Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 - not a convertible - and I love it. I put it in my camera bag too tight and the chassis bowed a little and keys on the very left had been a bit sticky, but it's not too bad, and it's my fault and I could get replacement parts because it's Lenovo. So, I'm their loyal customer.

@@kaneki1056 Makes sense, laptops are already overpriced as it is so if those have a i9, a 4070 and 64GO on DDR5 platform I wouldn't be surprised if they were listed in the $3000 range.
I swear laptops are scams. The screen and keyboard aren't even that great on this one anyway so it doesn't justify the expense for high-typing or designing jobs.

I was really excited for the 16" version of this laptop as I really want a windows based laptop that can actually compare with a macbook. I've been using a 14" Yoga 9i and it is great but I really want a bigger screen. The 75 Whr battery in the 16 is extremely disappointing though and might be a deal breaker :( I know we aren't going to see x86 architecture with battery life that can compete with arm (macbook 16 easily gets over 18 hours), but 12+ hours should be achievable. Unfortunately with the 75 Whr in this thing, I'd only expect maybe 8 if you are being nice to it. Just isn't enough IMO, you need the laptop to be able to get through an entire business day with room to spare. So sad, cause they could've easily fit more battery in there. I'd give up the 2nd ssd slot for more battery personally.

I'd go on to collect 6 more swivel convertible before the first flip convertible came to market
I still have most of them, though i sold my fujitsus and my Thinkpad X220, though that was my favorite for its combination extended battery+grip for drawing/one handed operation
