James Brown is Michael’s Jackson’s inspiration.…..and this is him 15+ years in the game strong already.
Go men😊
We only had analog so we couldn’t fudge the music digitally.
Less covering up low quality musicians back then.
So better musicians and more sound control.
That’s kinda the deal.
Big FACTS
Possibly, the most badass opening entrance ever.
Na, that would some Lil dude I forgotten which one, according to tik tok😂
I literally went holy shitamoley
Absolute bad Ass
100 percent
He's jumbo
That intro into The Payback is the hardest shit I’ve ever seen.
Brown had unbelievable moves man.
Yup it was. I’ve never seen any of his performance videos just heard some of his music. Wow he was electric!
Cocaine was different back then 😂 rockstar
@@KsCHL1 He don't think he did blow until the 80's
The hardest ever❤❤
This set started at 5 am local time in Kinshasa Zaire. The JB’s did their set at 4:30 am. I was there as the MD for Sister Sledge. We played 2 nights later on Sunday. James Brown was my Godfather as far as I was concerned. Bomaye !
Wow, that's amazing, must have been something else to have actually been there. Strange the locals having to get up at 4:30am for a concert as the boxing was delayed for weeks and the show wasn't being broadcast live?
@@SoulOnTopJB the first night’s concert was on Friday and it started at a normal time but ended with James Brown about 6 am. There was hardly any locals there because they couldn’t afford a ticket so the next 2 nights were free and then the stadium was full.
Why didnt they start in the evening or midnight at the latest?
@@thomasbrown7328 this was the first night of 3 separate shows. There were several acts on and it started at a normal time. Think the promoters made the schedule
What’s an MD?
James Brown was the ultimate showman, no one could do it better.
Black music needs only 2 people to represent. This guy James Brown and Tina Turner . Do not say Michael Jackson. Every body after is just a copy.
Michael Jackson.
He's not just "performing" he's catapulted by soul . It moves through him. If anyone knows of a current artist that channels a passion for life so fluidly I would love to hear about them.
There will most likely never be a man who will do what james could do on stage the earth will probs ever again see anything like this live sadly
Check out Burna Boy, don’t bother thanking me for showing you a 21st century greatness
They broke the mold. You'll never see it again
@@yourdad2383How dare u compare Burna Boy to James Brown 🤦🏽♂️
is Tina Turner current? :)
JB definitely had Style, Soul Power, and Showmanship - Houston is still listening in 2024.
All of the greatest stage performers of our lifetime from Michael, Prince, Usher, Bruno Mars, even back to the Stones and Elvis all owe a debt to this man...Undoubtedly the greatest entertainer PERIODT!
Les meilleurs de 80 sont bébés de Brown❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
74' at the top of his game, James Brown was a thoroughbred.
James Brown; Godfather of Funk and Creator of Funk, R.I.P.
I think Sly Stone is important too in the development of Funk. He invented a more polyrhythmic approach.
Way before my time, but dang they don’t make music like this anymore. What a performer and legend.
Kids these day am I right?
Khruangbin is a little like that, but less "energetic". Please check them out, they ar getting big
@@hugorezende199 they friggin suck
Glad to see a young person who has good taste
But whata time to be alive … we have all of this era and everything since. At our fingertips
What power. Can you imagine, Africa, 1974. James Brown walks out, doing that entrance. Nothing could ever be the same after that.
Yeah, what changed?
@@richardgrant418 a whole bunch of dudes in kinshasa got the least traumatic form of culture shock
imagine if a dude from 2078 kentucky showed up and gave a cosmic level performance
These were the good times in Africa, the seventies. Thanks Zaire (DRC) for entertaining us. Who can forget the Mighty ' Rumble in the Jungle
The big smile on his face is priceless- at the end as he is walking towards the dressing room....he know he knocked it all the way outta the park !!
Soul brother Number 1 !!
He let the mic stand go and it rocked in time. Next level.
Anytime someone does back to back standing splits to start a show , you know it's going to be good.
James Brown & The JB's were ahead of their time.
Is there even anyone other than JB who starts anything as such
Fun fact: the total Protection Payments made by "family" to ensure their "godfather's" safety in prison:
1. John Gotti - $60,000
2. James Brown:
Zero
Prince did that all the time. Thats why he tore his hips up
. wearing heels 24/7 and jumping off pianos is the main catalyst.
who are the singers who’ve since done a lot of split?
James brown outfit. Great artist that lived and a great heart. He was doing Gods work when he passed away. He was giving away food for the poor and he had pneumonia. Very sad and people talked badly of him . In life everyone makes mistakes and he was a good man still in Gods eyes.
Hip Hop celebrates it's 50th year this year 2023, so tip your hat to the Godfather, the base, the groove, the moves, forever the king!!!
What's hip hop got to do with it? DJs used funky drummer, and a few samples. But Brown had nothing to do with it.
There wouldn't be any mid 80s early 90s hip hop classics with out James Brown
@@robertsroberts4327 there would.
He was a straight up killer, that intro was unbelievable
This was the concert that took place the same trip as the Ali -Foreman fight, James traveled with Ali to this , a big Black coming home sense to be in Africa...God Bless JB.
This was a LEGENDARY concert, which featured Mr.Brown, along with the Fania All stars. Latin music's finest performers of the day. Master musicians all.
It was like the opening act for Rumble in the Jungle Muhammad Ali fight.

This was a spiritual performance! 🙏🏽
Gospel for sure
Yes. He consulted the spirits before performing.
Mister Brown, though you are dead, a masterful performance. My life is a bit sweeter because of your music.
Hermano.....el que lea esto . Esto esun espectaculo a otro nivel.!!!! Hoy nadie esto en vivo....Padrino del mundo soul. JAMES BROWN. Saludos del austral y frío Chile 🇨🇱
Cada día menos frío y menos austral.
@@garyibanez2786 .......lo escribi en invierno Bro.
@@garyibanez2786 últimamente si ha hecho bastante frío
Absolutely unreal performance what a complete legend 🙌🏼 I've grown up in the wrong era its guttering! Giving all he had on that stage amazing
I saw him live in '88 at an open.air festival show in Sweden, a couple of months before the infamous car chase and arrest that sent him to jail. He wasn't in the best shape physically at the time, but his singing was fine and the band with Maceo was great and tight - Brown always kept a solid funky band! It's a nice memory to have seen him live in concert.
Totally agree, we grew up in the wrong era
@@ericpgibbWe're in the UA-cam era my friends. We can have a range of eras of JB and other great musicians at our fingertips
That Maceo Parker Saxophone solo is divine, there are no words to describe it. A True master of his craft, takes me to another world when I listen to it. Kudos to the Godfather of Soul, The JB's & Maceo what a divine union.
Yeah I'm not ashamed that almost made me weep
I was lucky enough to see Mr Maceo Parker and his band a few years ago in Asheville, NC. Up in his 80's he still had his chops and steps. It was a great show!
What timestamp please? Which solo are you talking about? I’ve seen Maceo at least 4 times and it’s always phenomenal.
Maceo is the greatest to ever do it. Met him on the charter flight to Zaire from JFK. Got a photo with him as well. Maceo Bomaye !
was in a jazz cellar one night after a JB Concert to give that day a nice finish when all of a sudden most of the Band Members came in and stsrted a Jam Session. JB was not there but all together was s legendary night
The bass player is great too!
James Brown did NOT fuck around.
At all…🎉❤
Neva Eva.
Right!
When I die, i really hope my spirit can go back and forth in time at will. First destination: this concert. Followed by a Prince performance at Paisley Park and a Jacksons Victory tour concert. Can't wait!
Incroyable de réaliser que tout ça s’est passé en RD Congo 🇨🇩 Merci À toutes ces légendes d’avoir foulé les terres sacrées de la RD Congo 🇨🇩
The energy He brought was insane, this must have been mind blowing for everyone there that night.
Man, that band was one of a kind, and all those dope ass horn arrangements by Fred, fire.
Live one godfather of soul and funky music
Absolute legend. Soul Brother number 1 ❤
3:00 damn. when he dropped the mic stand and picked it up with his shoulder sliding up, so smooth.
One of the truly greats of 20th century music. So many owe so much to him.
Le niveau était très élevé dur de suivre après ça
Most Dynamic show on the Planet including Lloyd Price ,Celia Cruz, Johnny Pacheco ,Main ingredients, Joe Simon, Host of others Thrilla in Manila
Manila is in the Philippines. This was in Africa. A little bit different.
The man, his band, a few lights the simple stage ... and pure talent .... what i would call, a real artist in action. Pure human energy .... 100% The boss, James Brown. The one and only. Pure RAW live experience ... i wish i had the chance ..... ( and Maceo Parker ........ )
Una forza della natura!
This is my first time laying eyes on pornstache version of the great James brown.
Pure gold.
I saw J.B. when I was 18 in Germany ... now, seeing the video, I have to say, what f...cking luck to have seen this legend live. Pure energy and unbelievable presence.
First time to ever watch a James Brown song on UA-cam!
😁congratulations, hope you enjoyed the exprience 😄
@@SoulOnTopJB Yes i enjoyed watching his live show!
I really appreciate old music, old music that never gets old! Man!
It’s the absolute best stuff ever to be performed,, ever.
James brown is the baddest of the bad! Proud to say I saw him live in Macon, GA
Best concert ever at the grand old Opry Nashville TN 1992
Greatest of all time
James Brown had insane magnetism at the time of this "pre-fight performance"
So many great musicians from the 60/70's. They all had passion and freedom. They were fearless. They nailed their craft. They were loose. They were FREE. James was just one of many. But damn... if he wasn't one of the best.
That bass hit with the Big Payback you knew it was on!
There's no man nor entertainer performing 🎭 that has Potency that James Brown was Gifted with Choreography 🚀 🌌 out of this World 🌍 Magnificent Everything ❤️
At this point, Brown had damn near 20 years in the business.
bustin out splits like that is insane.
RIP Mr BROWN !!!
Toutes les versions de ce concert, doing it to death, sex machine, the payback, it s mans world, sont endiablés.. clairement un de ses meilleurs concerts avec hot on the one, live in tokyo 1980..
JB’s band is incredible. Perhaps The Best Band in the World, at that time.
Amazing, one day I hope this stuff gets an official release 💯
It's had one, on "Soul Power."
This has almost the same power but nothing can beat Zaïre. ua-cam.com/video/gQ7bFZVEbW4/v-deo.html&feature=sharec
@@slide4180it hasn’t had a full release.
there will never be another James Brown
Safe to say He don't make it like this anymore. TGOF channelled the spirit of the motherland sublimely
I'm so glad beeing a teen in the 70s...
This man is solid for so many reasons, but guys.....the quality, clarity and CONTROL over his vocals while dancing like this..........unmatched.
What a performance!!! 100% Fire. This ladies and gents is why he is known as the Godfather of Soul
His moves, the bands groove and the intensity from James. There is nobody today or in the last 20 years who can come even close to this. I don’t give a shit if your U2, Rolling Stones Taylor Who?
certified American Bad Ass right here! maybe the OG! What an amazing performer!
So happy to remember, ... I was there 50 years ago!!! Time flies indeed but I am still a big fan of Jamessss

James Brown is from my homeland in Karonga. In his slow jam he sings malipenga dances with same vibe...they sing like that along the shores of the mighty beautiful lake Malawi 🇲🇼...
Please wait😂
Le plus grand artiste, live au monde
Zaire featuring maceo is some baddd shit 😱 godamn
I LOVE LOVE THIS!!! I remember loving it so much while wishing I was there as a child! When I got old enough I looked for this, it took decades but it was more than worth the wait!!!❤ The behind the scenes footage is priceless❣️❣️❣️ #BBKING #BillWithers along with Mr. Dynamite and many others!
I can dig your enthusiasm 😊
Say what you will and feel how you feel, but there has never-EVA been a more stone cold intro as this! The instrumentation, the attitude, the dress the sheer physicality! He was indeed the hardest working man in show business! Soul Brotha #1. The man and his band single handedly kicked off an entire other genre of music!
I love the outtro with Brown walking like a boss to his dressing room while Same Beat is playing!😎
James did this every show
Actually, the music was edited in the film so you would hear that particular song called Same Beat. Released in 74 under the name The JB's, Damn Right I'm Somebody.
Unforgettable ❤
ENERGY AND................SOUL POWER LEGEND !!!!!!!!!!!
Magnificent 👊💯❤💛💚🙏🥰🌞
Best concert I've ever seen--

James Brown was the very best to ever do it ,,will never ,, ever be another even close !!
Mr james brown just came out and just started performing no need to warmup amazing
Beautiful horn's section, awesome thank you,for real soul🙏
Mister James Brown, heavy as hell. GOOD GOD!
James Brown is the first DJ in the world. He's running bands, not records.
I need this on blu-ray or dvd the concert of Mr.Dynamite ✌🏿
Never going to happen ua-cam.com/video/rILzoiuuB_E/v-deo.html
Sensacional James Brown, é o verdadeiro Black mundial.
personne à pu te remplacer ,tu étais et tu seras le meilleur pour toujours ❤
This performance was given before the big fight (Rumble in the Jungle) which got postponed due to some injury with Foreman. When James Brown did Living in America for Rocky 4 (Rip Carl Weathers who also died in the movie fight) it was, in a sense, a salute to this performance. This was huge for the time.
The jumpsuit, embellished with studs spelling out "GFOS," for "Godfather of Soul," sold for $25,000 in 2008
You right about that Africa America music is powerful and every group around world knows everything we do turn to gold and doesn’t matter what it is.
