The best thing about this video is James Brown fanboying with these 2 legends
BEST?
He’s was the baby of the bunch.
Nothing but respect
Holy shit yes.
Just amazing ❤
More talent on that stage than currently in the entire music business.
Amen to that
This comment will forever age well!
Absolutely!!!
Facts 😂😂😂
You are so right!!!
James Brown's that one friend that gets excited just by being part of the group
oh yessssss baby
Yes
This was before my time but I knew how much I appreciated it. At 3:24, I was done after that.
This is like Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven having a jam session together. Just wild.
True.
Pretty much yes! Magnificent 👌
This is American culture. This is what American gave to the world for the rest of us to enjoy.
If folks only knew how impactful this collaboration was back then. 3 of the best to ever do it.
Hello Nicole how are you doing today
@@andriakajic8255 then you clearly don’t know music. James broke barriers and made history he’s just as important and talented as they are
You damn right part of the roots for all music we listen to know, back when music had soul and not a agenda
i saw "now playing" Bobby blue Bland advertised on club marquis in Los Angeles area decades ago▪︎▪︎ i feel ashamed i did not go in and pay the $10/or $20 bucks cover charge.. *i did not know his talent, then.. he so good

This is UNBELIVABLE!
They talk like old friends in the bar, but when they open their mouth ...that's LEGEND of Universe!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I couldn’t stop smiling through this whole performance. Pure magic!
Mw too. I was feeling sad until i heard these legends..
Me either... 🔥🔥
I swear I was about to type the same thing
Same!!
Me too...cold blooded!!!
I can hardly believe my eyes; the amount of talent at one time on that stage.
I’ve been shaking my head at my phone screen since they started playing. I’m so glad to have come across this today!!
UA-cam reccomended me this an wow!!!!!!!! first time seeing this
❤outstanding where would we be. Don't know without the gifts they have shared. Papa has a Brand new Band!! God bless thanks for sharing
Priceless

It's so easy to think BB King's playing is very simplistic, and easy to do. But the less notes you play, the more each note needs to be done correctly, for the right duration, and right phrasing. Make no mistake, its extremely difficult to play so little notes, and sound so good. Literally zero margin for error. Such a legend.
B.B. King cannot play the guitar & sing at the sametime….that’s been documented for decades…..
The blues is a "simple" music style, but the real trick is in that magic finger-tip feeling that makes performances like these so expressive and captivating.
You are so right! You can try to play like BB for years and still NEVER get there...that old saying "less is best" is true but it's hard to master that concept!
Yup and B.B was combining the Major and Minor scales in the same key which is super hard to get right.
Agreed like david gilmour
Oh my goodness, my dad would have loved this. He would play the blues early in the morning as he got ready for work. I hated it as a kid. He's been gone over 30 years to be with the Lord, but how i wish i could go back in time to one of those mornings. 😢
Man I was thinking the same thing about my moms smh. Man she would loved this
My Uncle James would have loved this too!

Don’t know you but will say this… your father is still with you so you don’t ever have to look back. The good ones stay very close. Lost my father too. But he allows me to see him whenever I like! Them men were men! And know Gods plan. You gonna be alright! Blessings to you
wished I had recorded some of my great uncles that would be sitting around playing the guitar when we.had family gatherings back then
Back when Black men had unity and not afraid to show it

Man... James Brown had a VOICE.
For real! So did BB and Bobby!

Wow! I’ve never laid eyes on this performance before and I’m blown away! JB was in awe of these musical historians, and he had every right to be! Wow!
I saw this when it came out bc my brother has a Beta Recorder and he recorded this. And he STIILL has it . But I’m thankful for Soul On Top for giving everyone a chance to experience this. It’s a once in a lifetime performance! ❤
Far more class on that stage than the entertainers of this era
This is pure music history gold. Thank you all for doing this! So we can enjoy it so many years later!
Rest In Power to these three Kings!!!!!
...in Peace. We have zero power. Wake up.
Only sovereign God has power.

@@JuniorFarquar Right! God is the only king.
Its impossible to sound this good live😭😭😭
What do you mean?
Didn’t you just see it done.
Impossible!! Please Please…
I think it was ironic
These men really sang and they really played in their day! In juke joints, in concert halls in nightclubs in after-hour spots
It is.. African Americans just need to get serious about their culture again instead making making trash music like sexy redd and shiet 😭
@@FYMASMDHe gave emojis and you still can’t see he didn’t mean it literally. His “impossible” meant their performance was just that good.
The God Father praising his idols!!! What a special time when men stood their ground and appreciated their GOATS 🐐. Praise to JB!!! May they all RIP Rest in Power, Praise and Prosperity!!!
I’m a 77 year old white grandma from St Louis. Love this ❤

If god would have made me any other race I would be mad! I love my race proud of my people
I can dig it
@@marcusmobley3189 yea man. But it goes beyond our African descent. It’s something about us so-called African Americans in particular. Our lineage is “The Thing” that this World just can’t fuck with no matter what. I almost want to say it could be deeper than that fact that we are of African origin. We are different. There is just something about us that even we may not quite understand. I just wish we would collectively realize that we are touched by GOD although our trauma is evident & of course we’ve been adversely affected. We must refuse to accept what our enemy have indoctrinated many of us to believe about ourselves. We need to know that it’s all bullshit. & be bigger because we are them folks!!!
you can be. Especially musically.
@@daleoswaldodangerfield85well one thing you gotta believe is we have to stop killing each other. These kids are just destroying us. Breaks my heart. Can’t keep blaming our enemies when we are doing our fair share of messing things up. Help the young people you are around. Show them the ways.

Hello 👋 what are great music bands
Let’s applaud DON CORNELIUS for orchestrating the moment.

Two legends teaching and loving like big brothers to Mr. JB. Look what they created!!!! We owe them men more than we could pay ever!

Young people have no idea how legendary this video is! Bobby Bland, B B King and James Brown all on stage just jamming together as friends and fans of each others talents! ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥

😂😂😂 Bobby's energy is sensational
James Brown doesn’t give his vocal ability the credit it’s due.. ladies and gentlemen, Mr James Brown!
All these musical legends on stage. Pure genius! I’m here in 2023 and this is real music by real musicians. Today’s artists need to learn from them and show respect. Much love to you all. RIP.😁
This has 2 be one of the GREASTest moments EVER on SOUL TRAIN & DON CORNELIUS !!!!!
Born in 1984 from Moroccan parents immigrated to France, I grew up with great Black American music and Michael Jackson is my biggest inspiration. This performance is sooo great I can't control my goosebumps. So much talent, soul and beauty in their voices + B.B. King's playing. It left me speechless
🇺🇾Precisamente Jackson se inspiró en JB aunque muchos creen q su pasos son creación de el
@@Sempaijose123 If thats the case, why do Moroccan people hate on Black Americans so much yet love emulating black celebrities?
Man, Soul Train really had some great musical talent on it. Watched it every Saturday morning. RIP these four men.
This is real music . RIP 2 my granddaddy Charles James Holloway who put me onto these three beautiful black talented men 🤞🏽💪🏽 Chuck 1942-2022
James was in heaven on stage with them ❤❤❤ great to see all three men jamming with no ego! Just having fun…
Hello kiana how are you doing today
No sure I'm reading the body language like that, initally the though of singing with guys he doesnt contol seems to be freaking him out a bit but he REALLY hits his stride once they start.
How can anyone watch this and just not fall in love with this music, I just cannot understand people that listen to this and then say "no I dont like this", you have to be insane.
They have a hole in their soul 😢
This legendary trio is blowing my mind right now because as much as I used to watch Soul Train I don’t know how I missed this episode with the three greatest performers in rhythm and blues performing together. Wow, so,freaking mind blowing!!!!
Yeah, like a lot of people never saw this, makes me wonder if it ever went out to air??
Same here..just watched it and am stunned
Saturdays were magical back in the day, the era of 3 perhaps 4 📺 channels
This is real talent they will never make good music like this no more 😢
It’s always cool when you see a superstar melt in front of their idols. It really takes the bigger than life effect away and makes em human again.
This got me smiling 🙂ear to ear ✌🏾
Yes yes yes same here. Started smiling so big my eyes got wet..
@@murattaner7384 🤣🤣
Me too
priceless combination. Especially love James Brown's appreciation of these two blues masters, while he was an R&B master, deferring to them on the blues. Fun fun fun
Yes I remember watching this when it first aired! This is a classic. It was good to see James Brown taking directions from other musicians of another genre. You don’t see that too often. But he did hold his own with them. But the funniest thing about this was when Bobby Bland told him to moan and then after each time he was going to mention some of James Brown song so he mentions papas got a brand new bag the first time, open up the door I’ll get it myself the second time, and then the third time he couldn’t think of any more songs so he said papas got a brand new bag again! 😂🤣. But I know James but I got the biggest kick out of when he started naming his songs.
Hey man, I love all 3 of these dudes. I have listened to BBs and Bland album together. They said in the video this appearance was prompted by Brown, BB & Bland making a record together... I'm dying to hear it but can't find any info on it. Do you remember what the album is called?
Most of these young folks, of any color, have NO IDEA what great music is!! So damn good!!!
yep
Respect
I’m slowly learning
Me too I'm learning.i love blues
You can just enjoy music, it doesn't have to be about shitting on things other people like.
A taste of how they did it in the 40's and 50's. Love how Bobby included James Brown. Glad he did! Beautiful.
My god what a collection of legends of music.
Oh man they just don't make them like this anymore.
Thank you Mr Don Cornelius and Don Cornelius production for allowing two of The prominent bluesmans to perform on Soul train the legendary mr. Bobby Blue bland and the legendary mr. B.b. King I don't know where I was when it came out but I'm glad I seen it today 🎙️🎶🎶🎶🤜🏽🎶🤛🏽
This performance shows what music is like. When it got a heart & soul.
These men together, are truly Too Much Soul! They were amazing singers!
Amazing JB’s humility standing with BOBBY BLUE BLAND and B.B. KING. And their invitation for JB to sing was regal.
@3:46 one of the most legendary and greatest growls, scowls, notes ever throated in music
YES!!!! so soulful churchy and effortless
Right
Man this was beautiful, was laughing the whole time
Just magic, pure magic. I couldn’t stop smiling like the cat who got all the cream! 😻
Same with me. Big smile on my face.
My ears have never had it so good.
This reminds me of the parties my grandparent's would have and they'd being playing cards gettin lit to the blues high fiving laughing and vibing
I was fortunate enough to see BB in concert in the 90’s. He and his band were incredible! Never forget it.
Seen BB four times and Bobby twice. They put on a show!!!
Where has this been my whole life! Each performer at their best. You know I’m gonna be learning each BB riff - this was simply a golden period for him. Bobby Bland’s growl was awesome 😆 and James Brown killed it. Hey, do you notice how BB plays Lucille like he’s just talking? It’s not a guitar. It’s an extension of him. It’s a voice. Just remarkable.
Two kings and a Godfather,what a treat.
I’m watching this in 2023 and I’m just as excited as the audience back then. #i still love the blues
Never seen this before... damn, how many levels of cool can you put on screen at one time!
B.B. is the King of the blues, and Bobby Bland is the lion of the blues and James is the hardest working man in showbusiness. If you don't dig this, you've got a hole in your soul ❤
It feels great seeing BB King in one of his best again. You will always be remembered

B.B's Left hand Vibrato is a thing of pure joy
I wish I had found this video a year ago. My mother was a huge fan of the blues. I would have loved to share a moment in time with her and the blues she loved so well.

It hurts my heart so much to see Don Cornelius. Two days before he committed suicide he came into the store i was working in in Beverly Hills and i had the pleasure of waiting on him. He had the most amazing black pin striped suit on. He was so nice. I would sit at my desk 2 days later and open my computer to read the news. I just felt overwhelming sadness and guilt at our interaction although we did not know each other. Rest in Peace sir. Thank you for everything!
