My father died shortly after 30 years of service. This is what I had the piper play for him. Everyone expected Amazing Grace. They were all moved by it. None having a clue what song it was.
My father died in August 2022. He was a veteran of the Australian Army with service in the 1960's - Malaya, Borneo and Vietnam. We got a lone piper whom played "Flowers in the Forest" when doing the RSL (Like the British Legion) Poppy ceremony. He played Scotland the Brave on his exit from the church. Then he played Going Home for the procession. I wanted Black Bear but apparantly you need drums for that. I still miss the old codger but he left me a few things to clean up as part of his estate.
They played this at my Uncle's Funeral he served in the A Shau Valley and was awarded two Bronze Stars for his actions on Hamburger Hill and a Purple Heart for an injury he sustained during the final climb up what he referred to as "That damn nightmare they called Hill 937" he passed away in 97 he was one hell of a guy
