Hey desk, Daigo was talking about combo execution and mentioned you as ‘maybe the best in the world’. Cross up with forward/roundhouse, st short, st short, cr forward into super. ua-cam.com/video/SYVZ79qbASU/v-deo.html Sorry- I know this had nothing to do with your band or this vid in particular. 😬
3rd strike has a bunch of them from the top of my head : Dudley ditto shows two car sprites, Makoto takes a deep breath before fighting Ryu. Makoto vs Yang features a bow iirc.
Was not mentioned in the vid, but 3S Alex / Hugo is Hulk Hogan / André the Giant faceoff. Guile / Rugal is from KoF94 Rugal cutscene intro. CVS2 (1 also ?) Ryu / Ryo jump out at round start AoF1/2 style. 3S Ryu / Ken is the fistbump. A3 XCody super turns him into some kind of Final Fight version.
SF3 Hugo and Alex interaction is not flashy, but its real life reference to the fight between Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant is just legendary to me. I always choose to fight Alex on arcade mode, just for the brief interaction

SFV has some cameos in the costumes, Ken's final smash in Ultimate is literally Evo moment 37 and a lot of the Friendships in Mortal Kombat 11 are callbacks to the old ones (not to mention Johnny Cage's fatality) there are good things like these in modern games is just that people are so busy talking about how everything was so much better before that they don't realize

Yeah, that intro was a reference to KoF 94, the pre-boss intro. Rugal has a bunch of statues representing fighters he'd killed, many are inspired by Street Fighter characters, but Guile is the most obvious one.
If you get a perfect round with Menat in SFV, she does her standard round end animation up to a point where she accidentally hits herself upon her head with the crystal ball and yelps. Menat is the only character with unique perfect round animation as far as I know. Here's the footage: /watch?v=ZE-dzbIBYII
Lower fidelity makes artists have to be more creative, and can also get away with more since the player's minds will fill in the gaps. Helps that they reuse sprites, so those sequels have lower costs.

Just in case anyone's wondering what's Guile's connection to Rugal with the statue: in KOF 94 before you fight Rugal (any team), there are several previous challengers that were "petrified" by Rugal via a dip into molten steel. One of them is Guile. Another is Akuma.

Probably due to the licensing issues. I'm not business savvy in any way, but I can't imagine a deal between Capcom and SNK for another iteration of Mark of the Millennium 2002 REMASTER for our current generation of gaming systems. It wouldn't go as smoothly or friendly between the higher ups in Capcom and SNKs ranks. I like to think that back in the day these two entities got together and said, "You know what? Let's put our fighters and your fighters together in one game and have them duke it out till their heart's content!" Hate to think that nowadays a business meeting between them would go like, "So what's in it for us? Are we splitting sales 50% 50%? How feasible is releasing this when people have shown no interest in an SNK vs Capcom? Profit-Profit-Profit." Etc. It's a lot to consider! lol But damn do I wish for SNK vs Capcom Mark of the Millennium 2 Remaster with online multiplayer, or atleast an SNK VS CAPCOM III > with special invited guest characters from other series of fighting games that aren't owned by Capcom or SNK. AHHHH, A guy can dream! WE WANT A SNK VS CAPCOM 2 REMASTER!
Excellent video as always you glorious bastard, It never surprises me how much love was in creating these games and it speaks to the loyalty people have to what Capcom and it's staff were capable of.
I imagine it could also be an allusion to other stuff, but yeah - my mind instantly went to that scene of casca finding griffith by the lake after he 'sold himself'.
Just a semi random remark, it would have been nice to have some translated subtitles of what the characters are saying. Perhaps it can be added as close captions?
oh you know.. be a "weebo" and learn some basic japanese lines haha in all seriousness if there's a particular line your interested in ask me with time stamp and ill tell you ;)
I might be reading a bit too into this, but the girl on the right side around 8:15 could totally be Kimberly from SFVI. A lot of people say she uses roller blades.
Terry Bogard and Ryuji Yamazaki’s special intro is a reference to a scene from Baki, in which the yakuza boss Hanayama offers a karateka a sword to make the fight fair, which the karateka punches in half.
@@courtz1ace One department has no effect over the other. A Very good non-fg game of Capcom cannot save the prestige of the fg division, which is truly in a very bad state right now.

I was going to rant about how you left out a lot of animations in the video but the fact that you put "some" in the description and showed me a new Oro win pose WHICH BLEW MY DAMN MIND made me reconsider that hahahaha
Man the one where Urien causes self harm with all that blood dripping was crazy/awesome. I've never seen that one. Wish they wouldn't have censored it. Says a lot about his character.
I appreciate that, if you go frame-by-frame at 5:19, you can see that Mai and Athena are briefly completely naked under Chun-Li and Sakura's costumes for one or two frames. But then they end up magicking their own clothes on their bodies, because this is still a game series marketed to teenagers, and nobody *_ever_* would have went into CvS2's Color Editor Mode and played around with the color values to make some of the character's clothes disappear. No, sir. Perish the thought.
In Alpha 3, one of Guile's win quotes makes a comment about handcuffs, which is reference to a nasty glitch in one of the earlier SF2 releases(It was either Championship or Hyper Fighting) that a Guile player using a specific combo way to win a match would cause the second player's controls to lock up, rendering them helpless to the Guile player.

Let's put our fighters and your fighters together in one game and have them duke it out till their heart's content!"
Hate to think that nowadays a business meeting between them would go like, "So what's in it for us?
@@pie4486 EXACTLY!!
Sorry but that’s never happening again
Honestly, if they made a CvS3, they would probably kill the franchise. I would hate to see SFV stuff in a CvS game.
True.
4:35
Ken: Hey! Here's your hat.
Terry: Thanks man.
Both: Let's get this fight going!
Announcer: This battle is about to explode!
The Hibiki-Rolento intro is reference to a manga series that I've forgotten the name to but was a huge influence on The Last Blade.
If you remember, please tell us
Rurouni Kenshin?
@@Mokilok9 I think so, but I really don't remember. Kind of hard to pinpoint a female swordswoman parrying a flying dagger from a manga lol
Wow really?
Yeah I thought rurouni kenshin as well..
Who else wants either a new 2d street fighter or rival schools?!
Sakura kasugano
Hmm... a new HSF2 as long as they don’t re-use Udon’s models from HDR.
Yes, with the emphasis on 2d.
Capcom vs SNK 3 would be great as well, they could give it the Sonic Mania treatment
I'd pay for a new Rival Schools in a heartbeat!
Excellent video as always you glorious bastard, It never surprises me how much love was in creating these games and it speaks to the loyalty people have to what Capcom and it's staff were capable of.
the bit with urien cutting into his own arm might be reference to berserk. griffith has a scene where he does the same thing.
Cool idea, he can just use this video with subtitles in it and boom, double profit off one video he made.
oh you know.. be a "weebo" and learn some basic japanese lines haha
in all seriousness if there's a particular line your interested in ask me with time stamp and ill tell you ;)
I was thinking the same watching this video!
GutsRage ok how bout just the ones between 0:01 and 8:36?
michael scoggins there’s another video of CVS that has all the translations. Just search CVS special intros
Love these, it adds such a nice touch to the game
6:26 how the hell did he put this together lol.
I might be reading a bit too into this, but the girl on the right side around 8:15 could totally be Kimberly from SFVI. A lot of people say she uses roller blades.
Thought this was a good way of explaining the new players a bit of the actual character relationships and they should bring it back into the game
do my eyes deceive me or do i see ALLUSIONS TO A RIVAL SCHOOLS COMBO VID?
It's been so long... Ken giving Ryu a brotherly noogie is so amazing.
Lmfao the background music made this video 100 more epic 🔥🔥
but what is the background song!?
Birdie's theme
But i can't find this specific version
@@ununun9995I am 90% positive it is his Turbo Grafix 16 or PC theme.
Decide for yourself:

Terry Bogard and Ryuji Yamazaki’s special intro is a reference to a scene from Baki, in which the yakuza boss Hanayama offers a karateka a sword to make the fight fair, which the karateka punches in half.
I miss the old capcom
Capcom currently going through their redemption arc with monster hunter world, resident evil 2/7 & devil may cry 5
@@courtz1ace true but can they redeem themselves with fighting games after street fighter v and mvci
@@st_Luni I wish I had the answer to that my friend
Only time will tell...
chaos3two Don’t forget Megaman 11
@@courtz1ace One department has no effect over the other. A Very good non-fg game of Capcom cannot save the prestige of the fg division, which is truly in a very bad state right now.
3:44 Reference of Rugal having a "collection" of defeated fighters, amongst them Guile, Fei Long, and Akuma in Black Noa in King of Fighters 94
The sprites in Capcom vs SNK were awesome. Really well drawn.
00:03 Reference to the Fist of the north star
Never saw the oro v urien outro in my 17 years of playing 3rd strike or the Urien timer scam animation. Great stuff!
Same
Not specific to vs urien, that's his win pose anytime he wins using that super level 3
Guile vs Rugal intro is a reference to the fact Rugal has statues made of losers who failed to beat him, and one of said statues resembles guile, which this intro confirms
8:14 on the left looks like Kolin
That one is stereotypical Russian "Masha" wearing winter clothes everytime, because Soviet Russia always has winter. And bears walking on streets
I miss these little things from the modern game.
They helped give the game character/personality.
I was going to rant about how you left out a lot of animations in the video but the fact that you put "some" in the description and showed me a new Oro win pose WHICH BLEW MY DAMN MIND made me reconsider that hahahaha
Yeah, I never knew about that Oro win pose either and I play that game for tons of hours!

イングリッド可愛すぎる!!
何故ドット絵でもこんなに萌えるんだ?
Shame Capcom doesn't do this anymore. I love these kinds of things.
4:15 Very cheeky looking expression on Chun-li.
4:40 He-he-he. I like this.
Why with this reference , I don't get it
I love the direction you are taking this channel. Not only combos but learning about these games is a plus. Good work
The old games just exuded charm and love and care and now all of that seems to be gone in Capcom.
iTacoTaco
And NRS does it even less.
All they care about is money and micro transactions sadly
@@austinreed7343 I haven't played a NRS game since UMK3
iTacoTaco
Good GOD their new games after the WB buyout are soulless.
Rival schools references was pure Gold i still wait for the remake.
When i see ken and ryu in the 1994 street fighter animated movie...all i hear is, "wooga wooga wooga!!"😂😂😂😂
Love that movie
Man the one where Urien causes self harm with all that blood dripping was crazy/awesome. I've never seen that one. Wish they wouldn't have censored it. Says a lot about his character.
as an Oro main in sf3, god i miss that old man
If anyone's curious about the music used its the arranged version of Birdie's theme from the 1st Street Fighter
No Third Strike Ken/Ryu fist bump? Sad
Dope that you included Twelve and Necro and the King Of Fighter references. Real dope.
I was waiting for Oro's balls when he does cr hk... that's a pretty unique animation
Credit to NRS for still putting in the effort to have special intros and all characters interacting with one another in MKX and MK11
Too bad they're so wordy and undynamic. The games also have bigger fish to fry, unlike Capcom.
its sad we dont get this amount of detail anymore
Besides dragon ball fighterZ
@@kamith3984 Dont the stage transitions look cool as hell though
I can watch a scripted fight between Fei-Long and Yun allll day.
Desk, you forgot Yuri vs Sakura in CvS2! It was my favorite special intro.
Damn bless you for putting all of these references together
In Alpha 3, one of Guile's win quotes makes a comment about handcuffs, which is reference to a nasty glitch in one of the earlier SF2 releases(It was either Championship or Hyper Fighting) that a Guile player using a specific combo way to win a match would cause the second player's controls to lock up, rendering them helpless to the Guile player.
2:52 lol that voice over sounds so out of place
