Such a peaceful yet intense manner of speaking, there are so many awesome aspects of ISTJ's that seem to be overlooked. They can be so intelligent and knowledge, even insightful, and deeply caring about what their mission is.
As an ENTJ, I partially dislike the lack of ideas. One of my closest friends is an ISTJ, which is great- she gives me great direct talks that are practical and very grounded. But unlike me, she doesn’t have much beyond what she has experienced and it often seems like I am the more risk taker. Now off course, that is far less visible that what it sounds on text, but still a point to note- ISTJs can be great at things that are real, but flip out at ideas beyond the reality, causing them to be rooted a bit too much in the past.
@@Ak-hm8vs You can't everyone to take risks plus you can't expect everyone to not take risks , what's the point of mbti then? Your comment sounds like you are complaining about istj(s) not taking risks.
My wife is an ISTJ and she is great at sticking to the point and to the program. She seeks and creates structure in everything. I am an ENTP and I enjoy diving into the chaos and bringing back little gems that she can add to her structure :) I often go out alone when I’m in a creative mode because my way of doing things is stressful for her but she is as solid, founded and wise as anyone I know and I trust her 100%!
I test as an INFJ (Ni dominant and I’ve been studying this for over a year so I’m not just applying this typing to myself willy-nilly) but I tend to admire the straightforward and “to the point” nature of a lot of ISTJ’s-I’ve gotten tired of indirectness and bullshitting.
I mean I’m an INFP, and while I’m creative in my process of getting to the point, I hypocritically like for others to just get to the point. That, for the most part, is probably my Ne. Although, I’d argue that Jeff isn’t necessarily straight to the point. He’s linear, but the road he takes us on is a journey for the most part.
My dad is an ISTJ and this is 100% how he communicates, everything is linear and well thought out. Edit: loving all the other kiddos with ISTJ papas out there. For some reason I always equate this type as the quintessential ‘Dad’ type

Sara MBTI I’m sure my opinion is biased but I think it’s a great pairing of types, they each have what the other is lacking but always respect their differences. My dad always says they’ll be debating only to find they actually agree with each other but the way they express themselves is so different they didn’t realize it.
Useful, dedicated and hard working individuals who can not only create but MAINTAIN a solid ecosystem of productivity. One can scramble and struggle trying to grasp at preposterous ideas and novel ways to achieve goals, one can convince everybody that they're reliable, one can be as kind, friendly and charismatic, but if at the end of the day one doesn't deliver, how much is one really worth?
This is my dad all the way. I'm an ISFP. I beat around the bush a lot and add a lot of detail to what I say. He gets annoyed and wants me to get to the point, lol.
perfect analysis yet again. The thing about istj and getting the facts and details first is spot on. My istj father always tries to explain things to me that way, with all the details, whereas I need the big picture first!
My husband is ISTJ and he amazes me. I'm an INFP. Thankfully we have a ton of appreciation for and love of our differences... there's a lot of laughter in our household 😜
My crush is an ISTJ too He is good to sees detail and doesn't forget easily to chores than mine , he is persistent too His aloofness too. Some of classmates perceive him as uncaring and cold. actually , he is caring to me. But he shows it indirectly. I adore ISTJs so much.
ISTJ here. I enjoyed this video a lot and the breakdown of habits/characteristics of the type. I can concur that I'm not interested in competition either. I'd rather my results speak for themselves than having to point it out. I'm not comfortable doing that :)
Seriously, how do you find this videos?? I mean it must have taken you a lot of time/effort/analyzing.... And the result as I said once before is very apt. Hats off to you Sara!
I'm an INFP and my brother is an ISTJ We usually get along very well. I'm more idealistic than him, and he get mad at me every time because "everything seems to be a game for me". I think he's highly practical and realistic, very responsible too.
How does that happen 😂 So different types in children. I’m an INFP while my father is an ISTP and my mother is an ESFJ. How did I result from them I wonder? Besides being a free thinker(dad) and a gentle and loving person(mom), I must admit I’m pretty different from the both of them
The thing with praise I feel, is that when you get much praise of the same kind, as he must do about being succeseful and so on, it loses its significance as it becomes internalized, so as he is being told what he hears all the time, it doesnt have much significance I bet. Now if he had been complimented on something different it might be a different story, maybe its an Fi thing, I certainly relate to the idea that if im being complimented on the same thing over and over the individual expressions start mattering less and less, and though it would be appropriate to thank everyone, the 20th time it really doesnt do much for me. And i really doubt istj’s feel much obligation to such things.
The thing is when ISTJs work on something focused and really hard, they expect from themselves to be doing an outstanding job. So compliments are the only exceptable response to their work as they know it couldn't have been done any better. So the reaction to a compliment is neutral and not excited of some sort.
Another great analysis! I've also typed my dad as an ISTJ. Sometimes he seems to be very sensitive to criticism, especially when it comes to his work. He strives to produce the best possible product and if a customer is less than satisfied he can become frustrated and considers that person to be unreasonable. Even with Fe PoLR, I think he is emotionally volatile and it can show. I am interested to know if other people have the same experience ...or maybe I have mistyped my dad :)
They are efficient and they care a lot but unnecessery compliments, flattery or trying to criticize them without any reason- they usually wont care 😁 Thank you 💕
I'm an istj and I strive to do my best at what I care about. If someone criticized my work as I have said " they better be right about their criticism". So yes it's an istj thing and I'm learning to soften that side of me:)
They're not completely indifferent to criticism (or praise) even if they seem it from the outside. They appreciate praise and repeat similar behaviours to receive it again. And with criticism, if you press the right buttons and annoy them enough, they can be ticked over easily.
I have a lot of respect for istj. Im nothing like them. I (infp) don't want to be like them. I want to admire them. Whenever there is a boss wherever I'm at I'm always hoping he's istj.
It's true as an istj I do not prefer to lead but instead seek a worthy leader to follow. I'm all about loyalty. I can lead but have been told I push others like I push myself.
@@SaraMBTI Yeah, I've always been highly sensitive. When I was younger I used to be super emotional and would cry very easily. Now that I'm older I find that I've become far less emotional. I view sensitivity and emotion as two different things. I haven't had a good cry since I was sixteen.
I mean, can we talk about why the other guy is so fucking animated??? What did I miss? He was already banging on the table at the beginning as if he was frustrated.

No ISTJ would be comfortable creating a bookstore on that new-fangled thing called the "internet" in the 90's, and I bet 99% of ISTJ's during that time didn't even have internet access--traditional resources like the library did the job well enough to thwm. And no ISTJ would be such a smooth talker in an interview--every ISTJ I know is gruff, to the point, and subservient: "Tell me what to do" is their motto, not "I'm going to go out into the world to enterpise and explore and create an amazing company that's different from all the others." Watch some of his more zany interviews inside his office--he's an ENTJ. His biography shows his more devising and cutthroat nature, including against long time friends and relationships--something that would be unthinkable to an ISTJ.
