Based on your experience , is it guaranteed that when peeling off the masking tape with last coat still being wet, that the few previous dried coats applied that was lapped on the tape and vehicle and the one under that the tape was applied on will not peel? even though the last coat is still wet while removing masking?
Did the lines cut as clean as they did because the spray will still very wet or because it was applied over a dipped surface? Thanks and great job over the years buddy.
Kevin the last heavy coat re liquified all the layers underneath, and allowed it to cut smooth and clean.
what i dont understand, is when you peel the tape off on the last coat, hasnt the previous coats already dried to the tape? why wouldnt it peel with the first two coats? im commenting before the video is over by the way so if you explain it disregard this comment

Why didn't the White rip when you peeled the rest of it?
Why would it rip off? It isn't like he was using some tape with super strong adhesive. He was using regular painters tape with a light adhesive (I think he says this in the vid).. And once dip drys (I think he said give it at least 24 hrs in the vid) it is pretty dang durable. I mean, I scrub brush my dipped rims and it has never peeled or been damaged after cleaning. I think as long as you do not rip the tape off, you shouldnt have any problem.
No, I meant you are supposed to peel the tape from the dip when it's still wet.. They applied the stripes with the all the tape still on from the white coat.. Why didn't THAT rip? See what I'm saying?

Richard Dehart no it isnt at least not in this case someone might stumble on to the video looking how to put on stripes and just assumes that you can remove them like on normal paint . also someone who had their car dipped maybe a year ago and decides to add some stripes to it only to later remember damn thats permanent now . or how about someone who makes a mistake its either crooked or while removing the tape the edge rips well that means you have to redip the whole panel or in the worst case the whole car . suddenly a simple stripe job can cost you 500+ dollars . this video needs a disclaimer if you fuck up or you dont like the stripes anymore it will get EXPENSIVE

I usually don't like the satin finishes. I really like car finishes that look wet and have a mile deep shine. This finish you put down is stunning and looks FANTASTIC!!!

me too the mustangs from 2005-2009 were the best years. The new ones aren't bad at all but from 05-09 they had it looking most like the muscle era.

If I want a shiny finish on my stripes, would I follow the same process, and peel tape on the last wet clear coat? I feel like at that point, there may be too many layers, and the lines wouldn't come out sharp.

I hope there is no over spray on stuff I don't wanna have to clean off. do you use the same mustang to plastidip ?? I love the high gloss. how long does this last?? I HAD USED VINYL STRIPS WHICH WERE PEELING IN 2 YEARS WHICH WAS A BITCH TO REMOVE OMG NEVER USE VINYL AGAIN THEY CRACKED AND GLUE STAYED ON THE PAIN HAD TO USE SOLVENT TO REMOVE THE GLUE NEVER AGAIN VINYL !!!..And since my car sits out all year under cover in winter and summer. its never seen salt it sits 6 months out of the year .

how long do you have to let each coat settle before applying the next coat? 1st then 2nd then 3rd?
I've been jumping from video to video of his trying to decipher this mystery as well. The closest I've gotten is when he did some similar striping, the camo job, and he laid down a pretty wet coat, 2 or 3 coats-worth, let it dry "completely" then laid a final 2 to 3 coats-worth of wet then immediately peeled the tape. This video has thrown me as he now went 3 passes with no indication of timing/drying.

That satin white is nice. the blue I think i would want something slightly different, lighter or brighter not sure.

I used 3M 1.5" BLUE PAINTERS TAPE but the result was a disaster, I don not why!

I know this is a old vid. But do you know if you can use vinyl stencils? Have a 2020 Ford ranger and want to do rocker stripes, that flows into the bed sides like a F-150 raptor and a ranger stencil vertically at the end of the bed.
Just what I was looking for. I want to remove the vinyl strips on my camero and paint new strips.
As a carpenter of 30yrs, I recommend using a laser level (on vertical setting) to aim the tape perfectly... only need 2 reference points to stripe all but one end of the car.

There are several factors in doing a pro job. One place I found that succeeds in merging these is the Magic Painter Method (google it if you're interested) definately the most useful course i've seen. Check out this awesome website.
I don't understand why the first 2 coats of plastidip that dried on top of the masking tape didn't make the whole thing peel off when they removed it. Can anyone explain this to me? maybe I missed something, I thought you shouldnt let plastidip dry when you mask it

How long did it take to remove your bumpers, front and rear tail lights and rear spoiler to paint white? I'm assuming about 4 hrs.
is it me or they don't show the part they claim is the most important one? I don't see them doing nothing after each coat and I don't really understand what am I supposed to do. Should I remove all the masking tape after every coat and re mask before the next one?

Why is the hood partially open during the spray? I think it's the first time I've seen that in any of your videos.
Grant Martin for to spray the edges of the hood, you gotta make the stripes look like is coming around again you cant cut it off, if not when you open the hood is gonna look terrible.
Instead of having to rush around after laying the final coat why don't you just use wiretapes? It would be easier that way so you don't have to rush and the lines would be cut by the fiber wire in the tape?

I used a ratchet strap attached to each bumper, measured out from my center line and lined the whole ratchet strap in tape. Sh*t came out straight as a pole

So i noticed this video was for dipping stripes to an already dipped car is it possible/ recommended to dip stripes to a car that isnt already dipped or would it leave a sort of edge of the dip and make it more susceptible to wear and tear?

Hey why not do the top coat last with the pearls last instead before the strips like paint it white then do the stripes then do a pearl top coat 🤔 just a idea for a future video
