Bought a set of these about 10 months ago coming off the p760, and these are without a doubt the best irons I've ever played and I've been playing for 21 years
These look stunning tbf, would love to see you both game 4 5 770 6 7 p7mc and 8 9 pw blade, that would probably give you the ability to try them all out and also enjoy them, you're both solid ball strikers so should be fine, obviously just have to blend lofts, I can see why you might potentially go 4 5 6 770... then 7 8 p7mc and 9 pw blade tbf... enjoy your custom sets though lads!!
Managed to get an off the shelf set of P7MC's yesterday while I wait (a long time) for my custom fit order to come in. They're just class! TM Performance Lab at Wentworth very kindly fitted me.... 6-PW in MC and 4 & 5 in 770 just to offer some help with ball speed on off centre strikes with the longer bats. Probably the best irons I've ever hit. Look forward to seeing you guys with a full set!
As these are test sets, I think you guys should construct similar but different split combos to find where customers might like to switch into different clubs Ian - Blade (PW, 9, 8, 7), MC (6, 5), 770 (4) Matt - Blade (PW, 9, 8), MC (7, 6), 770 (5, 4)
This channel is the definition of golf porn. You guys are great! Thanks for all the information and the hard work, I look forward to seeing more content
Would love to see you do a quick comparo of the three, perhaps 7 irons across all the three styles. Show the shot shapes, descent angles, heights etc. Would be neat to see how it transitions from a true blade to a muscle/cavity/ to the 770 hollow head style.
What kind of shafts were tested here? Could you guys put some of that basic info (club, shaft, ball used) in the comments when you post a video? Love your work fellas!
As soon as I heard about these and saw some pre-release specs I thought a P770 / P7MC combo would be sweet. For on course testing I think two different combos aimed at different players would cover how most might combo these: P770 4-6 / P7MC 7-PW P7MC 4-7 / P7MB 8-PW Then you guys can flip a coin to see who “gets” to play the blades 😁
Ian was right when he said the P770 sits well away from these. I switched from P770 to these last week, both the same KBS Tour 120 shaft, and the P7MC are a completely different iron to the P770. If you hit irons well, have a bad short game like me, you can use these. They are more forgiving than a T100 (old), and the feeling paired with those KBS shafts is unbelievable. I've only did course testing with mine so far, but early signs are really promising. I could not get on with those P770 at all, but I see they are different swing weights, so maybe that was it. Give these a try.
These remind me of my 714CB irons. They are a very subtle cavity back. So much feel still. I knew exactly on the face where my strikes were. They called the 714cb cavity back, but it was more of a muscle cavity, and a smaller footprint than these even
Considering I am in the market for more challenging clubs to get me more focused, these look bang on. Wow. Thanks for sharing and can’t wait for more. I love the clean look, especially coming from my gaudy looking speedblades
Tried the P7MC and found them really nice to hit, felt softer than any other Taylormade I have hit before and good consistent shot shape. Also tried the P770 but felt with that club that they were even easier to hit but felt that you would get less control/consistency on distance as they sometimes would get a real flyer and go that bit further.
These new irons look fantastic! Definitely agree with Ian that I can see the MC's and the Blades being a great combo for the better players! Will be interested to see how the 770's combo with the MC's!
On my third set of 300 forged heads. I really hope one of these irons looks like the 300 forged from the top. Those have my favorite topline, length and shape.
Nice! These look great and will be good for a combo set. Really glad I decided to go through swing changes prior to fitting, feel like I am being rewarded with patience. Mizuno, Srixon, Miura and Taylormade great options to replace my 714cb and mb combo set.🏌🏻
What category of players do you think will make these clubs most justice? Im on hcp 17 going looking for 15 this year. I think they look tremendsly nice. Do you think i could gain something on switching my T200 for these gems ? Cheers from Sweden boys!
Would be cool to see some deliberate bad shots, like striking the ball off the bottom of the face, or near the toe/heel to see 'forgiveness' or performance drop-off and such. Love these videos. Have watched about 10 straight now lol
I’d love to see Ian in the 770’s and Matty in a combo set of the MB’s/MC’s. I know the MC’s or MB’s would probably suit Ian better, but I still want on-course feedback on the 770’s too. And I kinda think with a slight boost in distance for Ian combined with Matty hitting much more traditional irons it’d be fascinating to watch Ian and Matty both hitting the same number club into greens.
Also, I play 790's currently and you've sold me on definitely testing the 770's and probably buying them unless I see some red flags. Now I just need to find a buyer for my kidney. And wait for my local shop to get them in, which'll probably take another six months or so...
I wondered what Taylor Made players were using at the PGA. Assuming a lot of guys were playing their blade, I wondered if there was something new cooking. As usual, TXG is all over it. These beauties are way out of my category but it’s important to stay current. Thanks guys.
What does MC stand for? Is it Muscle Cavity or something. Also at address is it bigger or smaller than the MP20 MMC is it more/less forgiving? Great video and thanks!
Could you try the recoil shafts in a few of your custom clubs. I have them in my 2017 p790s and love the butter on butter feel they add but would be interested in you opinion. Am going to get custom fitted for a combo set of the new P series next week. Can’t wait!
Still own and play the original P770 and it's a fantastic club. I wonder if the P7 MC are a good option for me going forward or if I should go to the new P770 iron - I'm hesitant of the new P770, because I really don't like the look and feel of the P790.
I decided to jump in the pool..ordered 4,5,6, 770s and 8,9,pw MCs...replacing my Srixon 565s and 765s..which I like but needed different shafts..with my military discount and trade in I got these for 200 bucks more than reshafting the Srixons..niw we wait
Sorry, very late comment, but just looking for a new iron. They look soooo much like the Japanese r9 tour preferred forged irons a buddy of mine is playing (2010?), with s200 shaft.
Hey - I’ve tested both the mc and the mb and fancying a combo set . 3,4,5 ,6 mc 7,8,9,p mb but unsure if I should weaken the mc or strengthen the mb to make the lofts blend . What is the best option ? Cheers
Very late to this, but I have just combo’d these irons as you described - 4-6 MC, 7-pw MB. TM has a chart for blending these: 4i - standard 5i - 1* weak 6i - 1* weak -------- 7-pw - standard
hey guys, love your channel, quick Q since I am in the market for irons: it would be great if one of you could hit 770 and p7mc to see the difference in data. a little unfortunate that you split the combo-set up between the two of you ;) thanks.
Thanks for getting back..I trust your input because your breakdowns are the best and have done your homework..Taylormade let me cancel my original order of a 770/ MC split set and went straight 770..I love my Srixons but if the mc's are harder to hit..Im Not sure I can get good enough to enjoy them..Thanks again for getting back ..
As a fellow lefty. I have the P750's from 5-P and P770 in 3-4. How would these compare to the 750's? I would love to get the muscle cavities or muscle backs. As someone who hits my irons well what would you recommend
This is one of my favorite designs for a cavity back iron. I am sure you guys both thought these looked very similar to Srixon Z745 irons as well as some Mizuno irons over the years MP-64s come to mind. I am curious how these would compare. Do irons that look the same on the surface play the same or do small differences ad up to a completely different performance?
These Vs mp60? Thoughts? Still gaming my RAC TP irons (haven't found a combo set up that I prefer) but think TM may have me reaching for the credit card.
those irons look stunning and perform very well. feel spoiled today getting 3 videos. been looking at the p790's guessing none of these replace them? thanks for the reviews.
Ian: 9-Pw (MB), 8-6 (MC), 4-5 (770) Matt: 7-Pw (MC), 4-6 (770) Would be nice to see two different combo styles instead of you both playing something similar to eachother. Also to tell if 770s gets too jumpy and creating gaps. Cheers!
James the 718 AP3 can get about $600. The tour pro hit them and just grin ( stupid long ) Big sweet spot and feel like classical music. I put KBS V-Tour ( think they 105 grams ) Very consistent. Don’t need forged
How would you guys say these stack up to the Mizuno Mp-18 SC? I'm thinking about replacing my irons and I've had my eyes on these for the last month like a hawk. Would you say they are as soft as the players Mizuno irons you guys have tested? Are they closer to the Titleist 620 CB and have more of a click feel at impact rather than the soft feel Mizuno is known for? Is it similar to a Miura thud impact feel that's not as soft as Mizuno but more solid feeling? Please elaborate if possible.
How would these compare to Ibades on off center contact for distance loss ? Nice to hear the detail on low strike performance , my miss is usually thin .....
Thanks , guess we can take them off my “potential” list .... coming in for a fit in 3 weeks , trying to narrow down what kind of head / design I should do research on , playing iBlades but looking for similar size / shape but with a little more forgiveness / distance ....not getting any younger lol

I’ve went with the same set whst specs u get with shafts and lie angles
i LOVE the idea of setting up a full set (or combo’d) and testing on the course. can’t wait to see that content.
Just when I thought I was done rebuilding my set, these come out. Thanks TM!
As these are test sets, I think you guys should construct similar but different split combos to find where customers might like to switch into different clubs
Ian - Blade (PW, 9, 8, 7), MC (6, 5), 770 (4)
Matt - Blade (PW, 9, 8), MC (7, 6), 770 (5, 4)
was wishing that either Ian or Matt had tested them all, so we could hear their comparisons of the 770's and MC's
These weren't on my radar until I got fit yesterday, and made the plunge. 1" longer - wow. Excited for 2022 with these. Buttery feel. :)

Do a combo set with the P7MC in scoring irons and P770 in the mid to long irons!
Adam C this is perfect. This is what I was fit into today. I want to see this.
Right on! That’s the combo set that I went with and I’m excited for them to arrive! Hit em long and straight! @@richarddack9838
I would love to see you both use the same set make up so its like a true one on one with MB (PW, 9,8) MV (7,6,5) and 770 (4,3)

These look a lot like the Japan only 2009 TP Forged irons. Classy set of sticks...only if I had the game to put them in the bag.
exactly like them nothing new.
You may be surprised how well you hit them.
Yeah, that’s the same club, shows how good that club was
Ian was right when he said the P770 sits well away from these. I switched from P770 to these last week, both the same KBS Tour 120 shaft, and the P7MC are a completely different iron to the P770. Titleist makes the rounded topline, and that looks so much thinner. I like the flat topline that Taylormade uses, because it doesn’t appear as small.
These remind me of my 714CB irons. They are a very subtle cavity back. So much feel still. I knew exactly on the face where my strikes were. They called the 714cb cavity back, but it was more of a muscle cavity, and a smaller footprint than these even

Why is the MC iron going 20 yards farther with higher ball speed than when Ian hit the blade? Swing speeds seemed similar... I’m confused! 😅
Now we’re talking!!! MC is so nice lookin!!
The look like a nicer version of the rac tp from back in the day!
Wow! New product this should be cool. Do you guys know when wilson is updating the fg tour line and replacing the v6?
Great review! The P7MC look a LOT like the Callaway X Forged '18, which is such a good iron. Intriguing!
These new irons look fantastic! Definitely agree with Ian that I can see the MC's and the Blades being a great combo for the better players! Will be interested to see how the 770's combo with the MC's!
I just ordered this combo today through a TaylorMade fitting.
The seems like the old Titleist cbs but hotter to me. Great content all around today gents.
Love the look of these, very clean and Mizuno like .
On my third set of 300 forged heads. I really hope one of these irons looks like the 300 forged from the top. Those have my favorite topline, length and shape.
I recently picked up a nice set because they have always looked so darn good. Now these!! They look like there’s less offset than the 300s.
@@claytonpetree527 now you have me interested! Lol I'll definitely have to take a look after your description. Appreciate it!
Love these irons I play 770 3-7 and 7MC in 8 , 9. Great combo
Theyre paid to ignore certain things for the big brands I feel. Steel great irons.
Nice! These look great and will be good for a combo set. Really glad I decided to go through swing changes prior to fitting, feel like I am being rewarded with patience. Mizuno, Srixon, Miura and Taylormade great options to replace my 714cb and mb combo set.🏌🏻
you guys have one of the best jobs in the world.
Lots of options with these especially for you two. Great stuff classy looking just like you boys.
Thanks guys Cheers from NorCal

Congrats on 100k lads, well deserved.
Just for testing go and try a triple combo set! 4,5 in 770 then 6,7 in MC and 8,9pw in MB
Would be cool to see some deliberate bad shots, like striking the ball off the bottom of the face, or near the toe/heel to see 'forgiveness' or performance drop-off and such. Love these videos. Have watched about 10 straight now lol
Looks good and it looks like they went the Mizuno mp20 route with a 3 club series and combo set options
I’d love to see Ian in the 770’s and Matty in a combo set of the MB’s/MC’s. I know the MC’s or MB’s would probably suit Ian better, but I still want on-course feedback on the 770’s too. It’s Muscle Cavity
In terms of comparison to MMC it should be pretty much the same in terms of shape and forgiveness.

so nice....bet they will get Rahmbo to change as hes notoriously difficult to switch irons
How is Matt liking the TP5x?! Does he feel like he’s giving up anything in the wedges with the lower spin?! Great content as always guys!
i use it and it spins perfect for me
3-4 P770
5-7 P7MC
8-PW P7MB
Just ordered mine yesterday! 4-PW!
A new TXG vid heck yeah
Hit the thumbs down by mistake, hope it reversed out when I hit the thumbs up😩😩great video by the way.
Yeah, if you’re not even hitting the thumbs near center you might want a more forgiving club! 🤣
I want these irons but can't afford them. Need somebody to buy them for me. Lh stiff shaft.
These remind me of my R9 TP forged irons, but without the cool TM racing flags.

4:16 200 pound press? Isn't it more like 2 tons? Not sure. Great stuff from you guys as always though...
Yeah, 200 lbs wouldn't do too much. Taylormade says its a 2000 ton press.
Any ideas on when these are going to be released to purchase? and potential price point?
Matt doing a few swing things? Seems to be stiffer with his take away?
Similar look to the Cobra King Forged MB. How different do you think they are?
Look a lot like the Bridgestone irons Kuchar and Snedeker used to play. J33? J40?
why is nobody talking about the milled grooves in the irons.... its a first.
Great video, I have P750's right now how to they compare? Mainly with the top line is it a bit thinner or thicker?
How do these compare with Srixon 7785?.. Easier to hit..harder to hit?.
probably a bit harder
I guess I'll have to get better then..already ordered them..

Ian/Matt, do you know if Taylormade offer the DG Tour Issue X100 in 120 gram shaft weight option for the P7MC’s and the P770’s?
those irons look stunning and perform very well. feel spoiled today getting 3 videos. been looking at the p790's guessing none of these replace them? thanks for the reviews.
Jody Mullin no they are not replacing the p790. P790, p790ti are their own category. These replace the p760, p750 lines of old
@Ian (or Matt) - Currently gaming the TC201s. Can you compare forgiveness/feel between the two?
How many would swing weight change on these at plus 1.75 inch and oversize CP2 golfpride 6 extra wraps
How would these compare to the T100 from a forgiveness and distance standpoint?
I am a mid to high handicap, which ones would work or a combo with the 770?
I have callaway apex mbs which I love but really wanting some nice forged forgiving clubs with little offset any recommendations?
How much does a P770 ball speed change with a thin or off center strike?
Ian: 9-Pw (MB), 8-6 (MC), 4-5 (770)
Matt: 7-Pw (MC), 4-6 (770)
Would be nice to see two different combo styles instead of you both playing something similar to eachother. Also to tell if 770s gets too jumpy and creating gaps.
Cheers!
Do you ever combo clubs from different makers?
If Matt’s “the machine” STD. dev in ball speed is 4 MPH. I just look elsewhere.... Fantastic looking club

I've ordered 5-7 in the p770 and 8- P in the MC . After watching this im second guessing my choice . Do you think it will combo if I bend 8-p??
