    Very balanced and fair review. I made a conscious, objective decision NOT to buy a Merc, Lexus or BMW and bought the GV70. The best decision ever, and the FREE servicing, concierge pick up and drop off, loan cars and free premium roadside assist, simply makes it a value proposition you can't go past. As a new owner you will have to get comfortable with being noticed and having total strangers coming up to you to view and enquire about your car!! (My previous cars were Audi, BMW, Lexus and Merc).. the GV70 is hands down the best of the bunch.

      @@acefist1487 I've driven my car for almost 10,000km now over the past 11 months. Mine is 2.5T luxury package. Overall, I'd still give the car a solid 4 out of 5. Even today I still get amazed by the interior design (I have beige seats) and attention to details. I also find the car extremely quiet (even without active noise control) and can drive for long hours comfortably. The only downside is the ride itself. RPM transmission is sometimes a bit jittery and not as smooth as the German counterparts but I'm not sure how a 3.5T will perform in comparison to my car. The absence of air suspension also means that it's very susceptible to road conditions - very good on good roads but can be rough on uneven roads. That said, I'd buy it again if I went back in time and had to choose again.

    I took delivery a month ago, matte white with red nappa leather, 3.5v6 sport and luxury pack. I’ve kitted it out with 22” rims, black wrap on roof and spoiler / mirrors. I LOVE the car, only problem is, every time I park it means I have a conversation with someone who’s fascinated by it! I’ve had BMW’s, Audis but this is on another level, drives fantastic and the sound system is surreal. Total drive away was $101k (through a business), I highly recommend people drive one.
    Only niggle is the fingerprint reader is temperamental, rear leg room not amazing.

    I recently purchased the Genesis GV70, and I must say it's an awesome car, surpassing popular German brands in terms of driving experience, comfort, and value for money. Its impeccable road presence has left me quite impressed. However, I noticed that for the Australia market, some features available in the US, like Genesis connected service (all online service), seat posture analysis, HDA, Lane Change Assist, ISG etc were removed. I'm hopeful that Genesis will soon announce an option to upgrade the existing car with online service to rectify this.

      Don’t get too excited about. Example, if the electric steering pump goes out on a GV80 or a G80, it’s around $6000 to replace because they have to replace the entire rack and pinion because the electric steering pump is built into the rack and pinion.

    I looked at the Audi Sq5, Macan S, BMW X3 and the GLC, but I've ordered the GV70.
    The Germans are all just like a black hole inside, and I'm sick of having a big vertical slab of black plastic in front of me all the time.
    I ordered a red interior as it looks so rich and luxurious. Also the ride in the Gv70 is so luxurious, instead of hard and brittle like the Germans.
    As far as resale value goes, any of the Germans would cost me around 140k on road and the GV70 is under 100k ready to go (and it's MUCH better equipped too), so even if the resale of the Genesis is not as good as the Germans in 4 or 5 years, you're still far ahead with the initial cost.

    • @johnlee5307

      I came to the same conclusion and bought a 3.5r sport advanced in adriatic blue with red interior. Not that I had a choice since this was the only one available within 3 months. I have a GLC 43 which has a fantastic engine but the GV 70 is better in every other category. The Audi SQ5 is boring and the BMW X3M40 is ugly inside and out and rides too harsh. The GV70 has the best ride of any car, I've been in so far. The transmission is imperctibly smooth. The car is just buttery smooth and quiet.

    Nice review. Former BMW and Jaguar owner, they loved expensive mechanics. The GV70 is brilliant, bought one of the very first local 2022 GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige's in November 2021, would buy it again tomorrow. Genesis aggressively priced the GV70 originally to get some market share, at $64,045 when I bought mine nothing touched it under $70K. Now the 2024 GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige is $70K, more in line with the comparably equipped Germans (BMW X3 M40i, Audi SQ5, MB GLC43), and it has concierge service and a better warranty. Looks are subjective but I think the GV70 is beautiful insole and out, in Sport Prestige trim it matches anything.

    Great review Paul, only problems with Genesis is the lack of dealer network and niggling electrical issues (e.g. reverse cameras not working all the time). Gee that seat looks hideous with the headrest up so high!

    • @beograd07
      @beograd07 2 роки тому

      @@CarExpertAus but the headrest main feature is to protect your neck from injury in head on collision. After the initial forward motion during the impact when the airbag takes care of it there is a reaction motion backward resulting in neck injuries. The highest point of headrest should be in line with your neck not the back of your head. In your video it is obviously lifted too high and therefore looks ridiculous. Maybe we should stop calling them headrests so people will stop adjusting them wrongly?

      I was interested in a 2.5 to save some $ over the 3.5 as engine wasn’t as important to me. After seeing and test driving both, went with the 3.5 bc you get more than an engine upgrade for the money. Only the 3.5s can come with either the beautiful Napa leather or suede insert seats, both of which felt and looked far superior to the base leather offerings in the 2.5 series (including the highest trim 2.5). There are additional interior differences between the two, best to see both side by side. The 2.5 engine did feel plenty powerful for me though - if you’re not a speed demon the slight mpg savings would be nice.

What a great way to emphasis the stark quality differences between the models. Im sure Genesis will poach many buyers away for sure. Likewise on the GC at Southport. They are on the old BMW site.. amazing exposure to the road traffic and trams passing.. and the site is shared between TESLA and Genesis. It's a great car. Fuel economy is a bit rubbish though. Just bear in mind that being a new brand and model you have limited aftermarket options and have to go through Genesis themselves. Not all insurance companies have Genesis listed as a make. GV70 build to order options don't have accessories (e.g. tow bar, roof racks) so you have to trust the sales consultant in what they're telling you. Aftermarket resellers won't fit / install to avoid warranty issues. Even then it's fitted at a Hyundai dealership elsewhere. Also with no dealership network, you don't have somewhere to follow up on issues, everything is done over the phone or email.
