The GV70 is certainly a sweet drive. You ask about the fuel economy. The vehicle you are driving in the video is over $65K. I believe the fun factor and utility justify the MPG. If you can afford the $65K US, then you can likely afford the few bucks a week extra for the 2-3 MPG loss. It is also a unique drive. I don't see any in my town, that is until I take delivery of mine next week. 😁
It has been a year since I took delivery and I am still excited every time I get in the car. I can get 28mpg if I really try but I like to play so more like 23mpg. It is still a sweet ride. I see a few others but not many. The guy at the parts store said " I'm diggin' your Bentley, man"

Alex outstanding review of the Gensis, GV70, 3.5TT!! I am sincerely interested/impressed with the crossover! Thank you for providing a thorough, detailed review, as always. I agree, I'm disappointed Gensis, doesn't have a massage function for the front seat passenger. The absence of wireless "droid car play", along with, I feel, obsolete phone charging port(s). Man! But, however, I love the vehicle!! Sexy as all outdoors! I feel it's large enough for a mail driver (ego). And! I think it's a type of vehicle that a buyer would be satisfied with, appearance, performance, luxury for the duration. And your review/evaluation of the Gensis, GV70 as a solid vehicle confirmed it. The only other vehicle I had considered was the Audi, SQ5. I definitely dig the exhaust sound of the SQ5 but so it appears I will be ordering a Gensis! Alex, please keep up the good, objective reviews you do!!
Alex, great vid as usual but please tweak your shutter speeds... the choppiness of the slow mo shots is super distracting. You can use an ND filter if you can't get the shutter speeds low enough
The car is simply awesome. I owned a G70 and had to get out of it due to the need for a truck. But I missed it. Now that my other vehicle was due for an upgrade I snagged me a GV70. So happy the timing was right.
I’m a 2023 Kia Sportage owner, I believe with the same 2.5L engine, non turbo, with the same dual fuel injection delivery system, I’d love to see a comparison of this engine vs the European GDI engines over 70K to 100K miles and see who has the better reliability. A coworker just bought a 2015 BMW 750IL for under 30K, new it was 6 figures. That’s depreciation.
Next vehicle confirmed without a doubt. The fuel economy is so-so but that value is insane for what you get. I know the Alfa Romeo Tonale looks good but this seems way more refined, upscale, and has more power. I have an Alfa Romero Giulia and I'm looking to move to a small, premium sports crossover in 2025. A preowned 2023 GV70 sound like the way to go.

Ikr. The gv70 destroyed the nx and the nx isn’t even out yet I knew this would happen months before anyone even drove the nx and I was right the whole time It’s just sad that most people are trying too hard to defend how good the Lexus NX is when they clearly see the gv70 has ended the nx because of its superiority
In my area (Ohio) the 3.5T AWD GV70 starts at $52,600, instead of the $42,045 shown in 21:08. And at this moment it is impossible to get these boys at MSRP from what I know.
Alex: May I suggest an extra measurement in your reviews, as follows: First though, some background for the suggested measurement. Not every senior buyer will be limber enough to climb up to a higher level seat cushion. Nearly all SUV’s have a commanding outward view because buyers enjoy this important. However, most elders are sore and find getting upward more difficult. Thus a large segment of those seniors who still drive will strongly consider buyer a sedan, rather than a SUV, or a minivan….it is vastly easier to enter and exit. Suggestion: please add a measurement for the front seat elevation measured from the seat cushion height to the ground. Including that parameter would give a reference point from a current vehicle seat height contrasted to the new vehicle seat height. This might eliminate future disappointments, or remorse, after the glow of newness off--and real life sets in. Also might include a reliability factor, as reported by a consumer advocacy group. And/or the JD Power numbers. Thank you for your in-depth research and vehicle reporting. Wonder if anyone has thought about adding a five year factor of ownership to see how well the index of longevity rates compared to when it was new (assuming that model vehicle was available five years earlier). All for now, Art Hathcock La Plata, Maryland (301) 957-5420
After owning the 2017 Kia Sorento, 2020 Kia Telluride SXP AWD and now 2022 Kia Sorento PHEV, I can totally see myself owning this luxury brand of the manufacturer as long as they come up with larger hybridized/electricfied SUVs. Gas is not cheap these days in the US and all the talks about going green make this excellent GV70 a bit less attractive to me.

I've driven a GV 70 (with a friend on a too-short buying test-drive). This is a terrific vehicle, and it's absolutely on my own (very) short list of options in the near future. Totally fun to drive, and enough space for my long-distance lifestyle. Only thing I'm not sure about, those wheels. Maybe a little too radical for me...but easy to change with aftermarket options...
I believe different rims are selectable for those who don't like the G Spec (waffle) rims. At least that's what I was told and have seen at the dealership.

Genesis is going all electric in 2025, the most engine upgrade would be hybrid, probably with 2.5T. That poor MPG isn't really going to deter away buyers at that segment, but still would like to see some improvement.

A coworker just bought a 2015 BMW 750IL for under 30K, new it was 6 figures. That’s depreciation.

Alex: May I suggest an extra measurement in your reviews, as follows:
First though, some background for the suggested measurement.
All for now,

I’ve seen new genesis models out on the road and they are head turners.
Honestly, if I were looking into “luxury” or luxury type vehicles, I wouldn’t look into anything German or European in general. Ultra expensive to fix, not very innovative, not super reliable - but extremely beautiful and luxurious.
Japan and Korea are taking a big bite out of European makers, and that’s a good thing. Those Europeans have been too lax on reliability and dependability and too conservative on innovation. Maybe it’ll push them to provide better products instead of relying on the name of their brands.
reliability is the ONLY thing that Japanese brands do better than the European brands
Whay are you talking about? Technology wise the Germans destroy pretty much anything else. You're correct about reliability but aside from that, pricing and a few quirks like vehicle summon and mirror cameras for lane changing they've got everyone beat.
