Ive owned my 2022 G70 3.3t for just over two months and I can say I do not regret buying this over a BMW, Audi or Mercedes. I think people shy away from getting a Genesis because it’s not a huge name like BMW or Mercedes. In my opinion I think having a Genesis is the way to go, undercuts the prices for BMW, Audi and Mercedes while also giving you equal/similar quality and power. Plus all I see on the road are BMW, Audi and Mercedes so it’s nice to have something different that still snaps peoples heads back to take another look

I have a G80. I love it. People who have ridden in my car who own Porshe Cayan, BMW X5, Acura MDX, Range Rover, Mercedes S, and Ferrari (one well off friend owns almost one all those brands, other friends own a couple of them) have been very impressed with it. So yes, Genesis has made its mark in the luxury vehicle market.
For me being "premium" includes a few things... From a premium product I would expect premium engineering, premium quality and reliability, premium after sale support, overall premium end to end ownership experience. A few years ago I bought a brand new C Class with a 6 figure price tag. In my personal opinion, that car fails in several of these categories and I thought of it as an overpriced piece of $#!%...I personally would give Genesis a go as it seems to offer a lot of similar things for a fairer price.
Genesis has the best warranty on the entire market and most noteably the cars are going to 250k+ miles with most issues being covered by that amazing 7/150k miles warranty. I’m in the market for a g70 now after looking at number for the m340i that I wanted to pick up. Dealer wanted $60k after fees for one with 25k miles $52k sticker. Then I see this car after everything for 32k with 18k miles… just gotta find the one with the digital cluster( that’s a hidden 2022 model secret 🤫)
Compare it to a 340i (bang for buck) and it's pretty compelling. I have a 328i and intended a new 3 Series but could not live with that god awful digital dash in front of me. Astonishing that we'd have to remind BMW, of all brands, that tachos are round and go clockwise!

Thank you for this review. It is one of the better that I've seen on this vehicle. It's just unfortunate that the steering wheel is on the wrong side. I should be receiving mine in the next two weeks, just in time for a beautiful Alberta winter. Siberian Ice in colour, with the red Sevilla Nappa leather!
Good review Paul. Few points to note- yes the rear legroom is inadequate and compact to say the least along with somewhat compact boot space. The point on Genesis being a luxury brand- IMO i think it def is given the definite premiumness of the cabin, quality and styling (resale value is up in the air ATM). However i suspect the reason for the 'not so great steering' is because Genesis in general and mainly the sport sedans is still trying to establish its brand and identity and how to differentiate with competition. I will note however in a such a small space of time, they have already achieved great things and things can only look up from this point.
yes i am convinced. and i am going to buy gv70 2.5t awd with sports package and luxury package. plz make a review of that with all specifications mentioned i think instead of 3.5 l v6 2.5l v4 is better bcz world is going toward electric and hp and torque is almost simmilar . i am buying it instead of q5 and x3
My next vehicle could be a lexus es or a mercedes e class second hand with low klms, and which ever has the quieter cabin and most comfortable ride i will probably buy through a dealer i would say.
If you’re considering an ES 350 for your next car, I’m perplexed by your watching this video. When one shops for a bicycle, one tends not to browse for fighter jets.
I think growing up in Australia and having access to Calais, Fairmont and the general Commodores and Falcons, its really hard to justify 'large car with nice trim = Luxury Car' especially for anyone whose driven a VF commodore above Evoke and any FGX Falcon. We are going to look at this as Hyundai (and Kia with the Stinger) just catching up to what was essentially the basic expectation of a large family car sub $50k
A wagon version of this would sell really well! Make the car 4-5 inches longer and make the back seat usable, Wouldn't mind it was labelled as a Hyundai, Kia seem to do it with the stinger just fine.
Nice review Paul. Apparently the colour choices in Australia are much more limited than those you mention. It's pretty much, grey, sliver, black, white or red for the 3.3T. I can't believe they aren't bringing in the gorgeous Tasman Blue in the 3.3T. Also, noticed on a recent test drive that the instrument screen isn't as high resolution as, say, the MBUX screens. Otherwise, I was very impressed and may buy one. Not interested in a BMW M340i or C43 for another $40,000 above a top of the line G70. I write this as someone who has a current shape C63. The Euros in the same price bracket as the G70 are uninspiring and get lost on the road. The G70 is a good, honest rear drive sports sedan with a nice big V6. It doesn't even have stop-start which is a bonus in my books!
The bits inside that they've changed in the facelift are good changes. I'm not sold on the changes to the headlights or tail lights - for me the originals are a classier look but if the lux pack includes matrix LED (with good projection) then I'm not terribly bothered. Compared to the 6 cylinder Germans (S4/340/C43) you get a ton more car for your cash - all the options the Germans offer for $20k less.
Don't forget to add luxury tax etc and you will be getting close to $100K. Hence why I bought the Stinger GT. Essentially the same car with cosmetic differences
Did they remove the rear heat seats for 2023? I don't have kids and nobody rides in the back so the leg room doesn't bother me and heated seats don't really matter either lol just wondering if there was a package I missed lol. I test drove alot of cars and went to 4 dealerships and I don't think I ever saw rear heated seats in 2023. I could be wrong tho
Fan of your work Paul! Great review, I think this car a lovely package - looks, power and interior - except that rear leg room is a deal breaker. Buyers in this category are generally looking to fit in a family comfortably while being able to have fun when in the mood. I have an M340i and I picked it over some amazing cars like A45 S, M2 Comp, Gulia QF etc because I was after a better all round package than I had (stage 2 golf R). Point being cars in this category need to tick a few boxes and rear leg room is quite an important one at that. You could forgive it if it was a 2 seater but not being a medium/large sedan.
You guys are lucky that you get the 12.3' 3D display, Bond Silver matte paint, heated rear seats and a power trunk lid in Australia. We currently don't get these options in the US. I heard supply issues. Booo!!
Of course not. It's worse in all metrics compared to the class leader (m340i), and is a "value proposition" along with the TLX. There's no denying it's a nice car. But the m340i is just *better*. Honestly I don't think the 3 series will be dethroned in my life time as the go-to 4 door sports luxury sedan.
So the Kia Picanto has wireless CarPlay but this doesn’t? Feels so strange from cars of the same parent company, one the cheapest of the cheap and the other a prestige market one.
I would buy it in a heart beat over any expensive and unreliable european thing. It looks unbelievable inside and out. Aston Martinish, even Maseratish. Any of the German models will halve in 4 years so not much more to lose there. The Genesis over the years will cost you less to service and maintain. That aside I just think it looks better.

I'd own one without hesitation, stunning car.
Thats beautiful 😍
👌🏼
Are they reliable and easy to maintain .?
Why would anyone buy a toyota when the "other" manufacturers have lifted their game so much!
What toyota sedan costs this much ???

Another wicked review, thank you!
It’s definitely very luxurious in my Genesis G70 3.3T
this is one of the best cars ever ✨
The restyle definitely looks good!
@@CarExpertAus definitely!
I love this new G70 😍
🙌
yes i am convinced. and i am going to buy gv70 2.5t awd with sports package and luxury package. plz make a review of that with all specifications mentioned i think instead of 3.5 l v6 2.5l v4 is better bcz world is going toward electric and hp and torque is almost simmilar . i am buying it instead of q5 and x3
Hoping to review it shortly :-)
That interior seems solid👌
useful vid mate thanks!
Great review, but is it me or the audio not as good as usual CarExpert videos?
Thanks for watching! Yes unfortunately it was extremely windy when we were shooting. Probably the windiest day we've come across.
I think this car can be invested and operated on several occasions for because , a symbol of luxury.
Great bit of kit for the price, I think the rear leg room makes the gv70 look more appealing tho
Check out The G70 Shooting Brake
Love this. What a beauty
_'is Genesis a luxury brand?'_
yeah, run your hand over even a high spec'd 3 series these days. Like sitting in a hired car in comparison.
Still the Stinger for me 💪🏼👊🏻
Stinger is getting discontinued
Agreed, I love my Stinger GT
What’s your Doug score .
Love your videos Paul 👍👍
The bits inside that they've changed in the facelift are good changes. I'm not sold on the changes to the headlights or tail lights - for me the originals are a classier look but if the lux pack includes matrix LED (with good projection) then I'm not terribly bothered.
Compared to the 6 cylinder Germans (S4/340/C43) you get a ton more car for your cash - all the options the Germans offer for $20k less.
Can’t wait to go for a drive blasting BTS in this. 😆
I do like the the split tail light more than the split front lights. I would take the rear of this and the front of the pre-facelift G70.
Boot space - shooting brake coming soon. But back seat still same. Next generation with new platform
10k Interior package !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy Moly
Don't forget to add luxury tax etc and you will be getting close to $100K. Hence why I bought the Stinger GT. Essentially the same car with cosmetic differences
@@belvederedog2563 yeah both my uncles just bought the GT stingers ....and they both old school cars guys ...interesting shift in buyers choices
@@giggygiggy1393 Hope they are enjoying them as much as I am
Put it in sport + and it holds the gears. Quite simple.
Oh my gosh! It is so pretty.
It’s a looker! Especially with the matte finish.
I wish it got the GV70 interior
Cool video
🙌
It's luxury brand .
If it drives like one , if it feels like one , sees like them & finally smells like luxury then its a luxury car brand .
Are U gonna review the new facelift Kia Cerato GT and bring it for a track test?
We’ll try to - for sure!
Hello Paul can you do a BMW M3 Competition in depth review please 😊
New car 2022 genesis g70 sedan v6 twin turbo charged auto very nice good looking car
Agree!
What color is this?
If the speed is 300km/hr it's already my dream car... it's juss spectacular and affordable to the future me😃
Hi Paul
Hello.
Cheaper and likely to be more reliable than the German rivals 👍
Next review: hyundai sonata n line🙏
Will hopefully get our hands on one soon!
The next Sonata will probably be out before anyone can get their hands on a current gen lol
Hi paul, you mentioned it is $77000 but when I check website it is showing $95000
Have you tried Highway assist?
Yes I would buy it 💯.
You guys are lucky that you get the 12.3' 3D display, Bond Silver matte paint, heated rear seats and a power trunk lid in Australia. We currently don't get these options in the US. I heard supply issues. Booo!!
How good is your job, Paul?!
Looking early next year. Was getting a Lexus IS 350 but they have stopped bringing them in. Reliability is huge with me.
With your criteria will you look at the Germans?
@@mvnorsel6354 Everything I see on the Germans shows reliability is their failure
Based on reliability alone, I would buy this. I've owned 4 German cars.. All has reliability issues
Faster, yes. Better, no.
I am impressed.
Is the driver on the right?
What is that beeping sound that keeps on piping up when your talking?
Yeah, the lack of rear space is a deal breaker. Kia and their Hyundai Overlords shot themselves in the foot in the design phase with this one
Best thing you did was leave caradvice. Their review was very cringe. Love the reviews here.
Thank you!
Looks mad. I’d get one if I was looking for a sedan.
