UC Santa Barbara professor Joan-Emma Shea discusses the tau protein as a model system to study neurodegeneration. Shea says this protein plays a functional role in stabilizing microtubules in brain cells, but it can also self-assemble to form amyloid fibrils (large “clumps” of Tau proteins). There are several neurodegenerative diseases linked to tau assembly, including Alzheimer’s Disease, Pick’s Disease, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy, and they are collectively known as tauopathies. As always the only way to know would be to test, but my understanding is that although both lower blood sugar they are different, and can be synergistic when used together, pointing to different mechanisms. So I would think in this case it would be difficult to draw any conclusion about how berberine would work with leucine/sildenafil
Has he done any comparisons with leucine and its derivative HMB? I think around the mid 1990s there was research showing increased lean tissue and fatloss with hmb in wt trained people vs a non hmb wt trained group. My personal experience with hmb is that it reduce doms/delayed onset muscle soreness from wt training and speeds recovery.

@sweaner Correct. If a drug does not extend lifespan per se (metformin) but prevents and or reduces many illnesses that often kill or reduce healthspan (metformin) is it not a longevity drug? To me the answer is it is, so it's definitional. Dr Stanfield wanted to make a bold statement so he dismissed metformin for longevity. Lots of clicks.

Will Sildenafil lower blood pressure? As someone with chronically low blood pressure and low blood sugar I am concerned of the safety of my taking metformin and sildenafil but I do need to lose weight and calorie restriction and exercise isn't working.
Sildenafil can lower BP, BUT, the dose used here is very low. I am trying to figure out the best way to get a dose that is close to give this a try. I am thinking about trying 1/4 of a 20 mg tab, so 5 mg BID. There is some risk of hypoglycemia with metformin.
@@sweaner I've found 2 peptide sites that are selling liquid silenafil and also tadalafil OTC which would make it easy to customize your dose. Another commenter said tadalafil made him lose weight.

My mom was given sildenafil low dose for COPD and she has lost like 50 pounds.

Yes. On both, just remember, it is still experimental, so "results may vary" applies.

I’m T2 diabetic. Take berberine but I will add the leucine just to see if it helps.

Dr. Stanfield's videos are related to longevity. Metformin is a very effective drug for diabetes and other conditions.
