    Hey, I just want to let anyone who would like to try this know that once you put Henna hair color in your hair, there is no going back. Once it is in you can not go and redye that hair another color. Henna hair color works it's way between the cuticle of they hair strand and does not ever come out. Henna hair color does not fade the same way a semi, Demi, or permanent hair color does. When you touch up your hair with henna it packs more of that pigment in between the cuticle of your hair strand. The particles don't come out. DO NOT try to lighten and or color your hair after you have used henna hair color. Once you have henna hair color in, the only way to remove it is to cut the hair with henna hair color off. I am a licensed Cosmetologist in VA and I have seen it far to many times.

    • @fernedwards3972
      @fernedwards3972 5 років тому +9

      On the contrary, I personally used this stuff for years and lightened it in several baby steps until I was happy. I should add though that my hair was in a very short pixi cut at the time, I wouldn't have dared attempt it on longer hair. But I never had to chop it all off and all this years later my hairs still as healthy as can be! It does annoy me when they say it "coats" the hair though, as you are right it works its way into the cuticle.

    • @Emily-fc1qt
      @Emily-fc1qt 5 років тому +16

      P r e a c h ! Once you use henna on your hair there is NO going back! Or using Sun In. There is no going back people.

      Wtf? I've been dying my hair with henna for over six years now. I have no idea what you or your customer use but henna (I live in Algeria) gets out.

    • @MysticalMissM111
      @MysticalMissM111 5 років тому +8

      I have used henna and after several weeks (8-12) colored my hair with a more natural hair color (that still contains some chemicals) and had no problem. I did not cut out the henna and the color of my hair looked perfectly fine.

    • @trinelangohr6661
      @trinelangohr6661 5 років тому +12

      Yeah, you're still wrong. It does fade after 2 months - from normally pigmented hair. It only stays permanently in grey hairs. As for chemical dyes - some people have to grow the henna out, some can just apply chemical dye after 2-3 months again. It depends on your hair type and thickness.
      There is no general solution - if you want to try dyeing your hair chemically after using henna, you'll just have to do a strand test to see.
      If I was you, I'd ask my money back from the Cosmetology Academy...

      @blahxds 6 років тому +1

      compound henna is henna powder that is premixed with other ingredients such as oils, indigo, or whatever. you're not supposed to use henna that is formulated like that because it will react badly with chemical hair dyes and etc. Ancient Sunrise Henna is superior to Lush's tbh, but I've never tried Lush henna so I wouldn't know what it's like

    There's no before and after results shown :(
    What if you have dark hair and want a more brown hue? I wouldn't want to go through all that just to find out it doesn't work on dark hair

    • @LUSH
      @LUSH  8 років тому +3

      Everyone's hair is different, so results will vary from person to person; this is why we always recommend doing a strand test before going for the full application. Henna is not capable of lightening the hair - it provides a translucent color that allows the underlying shade to shine through. If your hair is very dark, you won't see as dramatic a change in color, but you'll still benefit from the conditioning effects of the henna, and you'll see a bit shine boost, too! ✨

    The right way to make henna in Arabian way is this:
    2 cups of powder henna
    1 egg
    1 lemon juiced
    10 - 15 ml olive oil
    Just this 4 ingredients !!
    Leave for at least 4 hours and then rinse it off.
    This for medium tall hair
    For boy hair use 1 cup
    For long hair use 3 to 4 cups

  • @MysticalMissM111
    @MysticalMissM111 5 років тому +3

    It appears you are using a metal bowl for mixing the henna in this video - I have always read in henna instructions to NOT use any metal in preparing the henna as it can cause discoloration (green tones, for instance) due to chemical reactions between the henna and the metal.

  • @samlynn1992
    @samlynn1992 5 років тому +4

    1. Henna isn’t something to just “try”. It’s next to impossible to remove so it’s a commitment.
    2. Henna is a progressive colour; that means if you’re applying henna over henna each time you get roots as it seems you’re doing in the video, you’re eventually going to end up with near black hair.

    I'm looking into this for my mom who has suffered through a lot of hair coloring reactions such as itchy scalp, swelling in the forehead and now burned, irritated and blistering ears. She has purchased PBD free hair dye and tried the "organic" hair dyes but she still uses a developer which is not good. She's worried however that she will get an allergic reaction from this because she's heard stories about the black henna that can cause harm. If she were to get this, it would be the darkest color you have. What can I say to get her to try this?

      Sabrina Lynn Hi Sabrina! Our hennas contain only natural ingredients, so they're free of the metallic salts that can cause other commercially-available henna products to react with metal implements and other treatments. You can find the full ingredient list for our hennas on our website, so she can always check this with her doctor to rule out any possible reactions!

    Henna is a paste made from grounded leaves from the henna tree and is a big part of desi culture it can last around a week on average but some can last longer. Applying a lemon and sugar solution to it will darken the colour.

    GUYS DO NOT USE HENNA HAIRCOLOR
    i am a hairstylist. henna haircolor stains all the layers of your hair so badly that nothing can lift or remove it. you can’t bleach henna, nothing will lift it. you also can’t color over henna, it’ll wash right off since it completely coats the cuticle (outmost layer of the hair), as she said in the video. if you color your hair with henna and decide you don’t want it anymore, it’s literally impossible to undo it. the only thing you can do is grow it out and then cut the length colored with henna. DO NOT USE HENNA HAIRCOLOR.

    • @joylegon84

      Skyler Good that’s why it’s a permanent hair dye right? Isn’t that kind off the point? Why dye your hair if you’re gonna want to take it of anyways? It doesn’t mean you SHOULDN’T do it. Just if you’re absolutely sure.

    its kinda dumb for lush to be creating a henna dye. yalls so expensive asf??? and you could get authentic henna powder packet at an indian store for less than $2 lol. yalls don't even need to chop the henna or put hot water in it so troublesome. plus gurlie you need to wet your hair a little and you putting the henna on your hair all wrong. lost at that patchiness ew.

    Would not recommend dying your hair with Henna if you ever plan on bleaching your hair. Fun fact: It actually causes the hairshaft to boil from the inside out if you end up trying to bleach over it later on. We learned about it in Cosmetology school... it was interesting to say the least.

    • @JustNatax3

      This is only the case if the henna isn't pure and contains metallic salts. They will react with bleach. Look for body safe henna or just directly buy pure red henna (powder from the dried plant _Lawsonia inermis_ ) and save a ton of money on these (body safe but) ridiculously overpriced LUSH bars. Pure henna pigment can be bleached just like every other pigment. It's just the metallic salts and you cant trust a customer to never used punched henna on their hair. I'm a biologist so trust me lol

    Guys, if you ever want to dye your hair with henna, please don't do it with Lush's henna. The butter, or any kind of oil, will make the colouring less intense, because they create a barrier. Just buy henna that is 100% lawsonia, it is way cheaper and overall acts batter as a natural hair dye.

      Yes, LUSH is very aware of the translation of "Caca" in French and Spanish. As a very cheeky company with an even cheekier founder, they wanted to give this a name that will make people chuckle. Unlike regular hair dyes which are full of "caca" for your hair, they decided to name the henna dyes, which are free from nasty damaging synthetic chemicals-- "Caca Hair Dyes." A little LUSH history lesson for you kiddos.

    I decided to read through the comments because I have a question, and thought maybe it had been asked. Instead, and after reading through many, I got SICK AND TIRED of all the stupid and negative comments. WHO CARES what the meaning of a word is. If you do your research, you will find that henna is made from a plant. AND all the people that want to ridicule.......GET A LIFE!! Mry question is, can you mix colors? I purchased the marron at the suggestion of the gal at the lush store. I am trying to achieve red, not fiery red. She suggested the marron, explaining that it would be more auburn. As it turns out, it looks more fiery red after completing the strand test. So, I was wondering if I maybe mix a brown with this , would that tone it down?

    This is worrying. This is not real jenna at all or well looks like real henna. Henna cones in powder form and on top of that extremely pigmented in dark reddish orange colour. If you want to get real henna just go to an Asian Indian store and get it. It's so cheap there. Indians and pakistanis been using it for many centuries. It's not that unique. Plus it being in a block form is extremely worrying and strange.
