Today I’m fitting these Oxford Hot Grips Pro heated grips on the Bonny. As soon as I saw these I wanted to grab a set as I loved having warm hands on previous bikes. I’ve heard that Oxford make the warmest grips and I can report they are extremely effective! I hope you enjoy the video

these oxford pro grips are so much better than the previous oxford ones looks like they were fitted at the factory using a screwdriver to get the WD40 in to loosen the grip is a fantastic tip
Yeah they are great!
just remember to properly clean the wd40 or it will eat away at the grip glue over time
Got a set fitted last week from a dealership very low heat and keeping turning from red to green to blue, dealership told me this is normal with these grips,I personally think they are faulty had Oxford grips before the older type and you would have had to turn them down, dealership won't replace these as they say they are fine
I don't sand the throttle grip down, I just tap the new grip gently with a mallet and an appropriately sized socket so I don't have to use any glue to keep it in place. Have done this for years with zero issues. You may want to use glue on the left grip or just stick something underneath it as you're sliding it into position, like a thick zip tie piece (or two)
They feel more like silicone because it is silicone.

Thanks for the video mate, I’m about to do this! I have the “touring” variant, those look and feel grippier then the original handlebars. Interesting to know is the materials differ from the race, touring and adventure models.. 👍🏻
Good honest video.
I'm buying a set of these for my son for Christmas 🎄
Video definitely helped. Thank you.
Hairspray
Bless you.
i want heated grips for my Yamaha MT07, Yamaha makes them but they said i need a connecting wire & they can't get that wire & have no idea when they can....i thought the Oxford grips had a large controller you had to mount on the handlebars, i have my phone mount on my left side & there's no room on my right bar......but the Grips you put on, will work.....b/c the controller is built into the grip....so i'll probably order these grips....thank you...
How strange
Hi, great video. Want to buy the same grips, but can only find 22mm grips. Don't I need 25mm for the Bonneville? Also there are different grip patterns for touring, adventure and sport. Witch one did you have in the video?
I’m not 100% sure but I think all bars taper out to the same size at the grips. Don’t quote me on that. I went for the sport I believe. You’ll be able to see in the Oxford photos when you buy them
One of the things I learned from how my current grips are installed is that you can leave a slight (SLIGHT) amount of the grip overhanging the end (ie. don't cut them too short). Once you put the bar ends back on, this gives it a neater look than if there is any gap. Also there are 3 different versions of the pro and the differences are entirely about the length of the grip. You can cut all of them back a little bit, but you can't add grip and you can't cut anymore than the last demarcation line, so measure wisely.
Nice work
Really useful video, fitted mine this morning, the Allen key and gorilla glue tips were great. Thank you
I’m so glad to hear! Thank you!
How did you fit yours on? I have a 2015 865 T100 Black but the left hand tube is 25.4mm while the right hand tube is 29.9mm. No way they are going on...
They are sided and one is bigger. Did you watch what I did?
@@BorisTheDefender Did more research. Turns out the normal Bonneville has 7/8 handlebar while the T100 has 1" handlebar. Going to put the Hot Grips Pro on another bike and ordered the Oxford Cruiser grip for 1" handlebar
How do you program the BSM with a lithium battery it’s driving me insane can you help because Oxford Won’t talk to me☹️
My hot grips pro are really disappointing and don't get anywhere near warm enough. Using a calibrated thermocouple I only get 35 deg C on maximum setting, 10 deg C less than Oxford claim. It doesnt matter if I'm stationary or moving, they max out at 35 deg C. They're getting 12V as they should, but an ammeter test shows their current draw dropping to just 2.3A shortly after starting to heat. It clearly looks like a faulty product to me yet they tell me it's normal. Ive even tried a replacement left grip with the controls in it because the original was missing one of the threaded collars for the electrical connection. The replacement they sent me was missing a different part 😄 Their quality control is absolutely abysmal.
Most people with Oxford grips say that they are too hot to really hold with ungloved hands on high setting.
That’s really odd. Mine are so hot I need to turn them off after a while.
@@BorisTheDefender Yeah I really want to get to the bottom of it because I'm feeling pretty ripped off at the moment. Very disappointing that their support team basically don't want to know about it and just say "it's normal" when it clearly isn't. My guess is a batch of faulty temperature sensors that are reporting incorrect higher temperatures, or a batch of faulty controllers that are not targeting the correct temperature.
Nice video.
I am very interested in these as I have never liked the control box versions but my Yamaha OEM grips just aren't hot enough.
I'm interested to know if the max heat of the Pros are as hot as the max heat of the Advanced or EVO versions as the control box versions have many more setting rather than just the three. The integrated control is nice but it is the heat that is most important.
just wish i could find them in the US!
Order them from the uk
Good review. Just got myself a set of sports for my 2010 vfr1200f which didn’t come with heated grips originally. Looking forward to toasty hands. Thanks 😊
They look great and and a good job of keeping the wiring near. These will be invaluable in a British winter to keep you riding safely as once your hands are cold...game over for riding! Keep on biking
I have a Bonneville SE, do you mind if I mod it the same as yours? I really like the way you did it.
Excellent video
What is the 2 terminal battery connection you used please?
As mentioned. The motobatt
Personally always just used hair spray over super clue. So if and when you need to take it off you can
What does hairspray do?
@@Kevg777 makes the grips stick to the handle bars. But it's not so sticky you can't take them back off.
I wouldn't put heated grips on my bike again, it's not worth all the hassle and extra cable sticking out, what a bloody mess.
Heated gloves are much better.
