Super glue is not an ideal choice for application as it flashes off too quickly. Rubber glue is far more friendly and acts as a lubricant when sliding the grip on, saves blisters too🤣... Renthall glue is excellent, we have used it on our race bikes and our service centre for decades.
Probably good to mention to take care with the super glue on the throttle side........I've had glue somehow get between the throttle sleeve and the handle bar, causing the throttle to stick open after installation. Always check the end of the bar and clean any glue that has made its way to the end of the grip.
Thanks Nessa & Oxford Products I bought some Oxford Pro (Touring) grips for my CB1000R this week. Need to check my bike as I have seen some talking of using a file ro remove locator pins/bumps on "some" bars. Was looking for my rubber mallet to knock the new grips home....Will now aim to push/wiggle to avoid damage.
I couldn't find the product you assembled in Turkey. The Turkish distributor didn't respond to my inquiry. I ordered it with support from the manufacturer and assembled it by following your instructions. Thank you.
Very good installation 👍 I would however do it without jewellery to avoid possible scoring your paint work and also I'd check your Grips work prior to being glued. Always wise 👍
So followed instructions and watched this video before fitting these grips, today the one on the throttle side is on about an inch and glued solid! Do not use the glue people.
I'm not sure about taping power from a constant power source directly to the battery instead of ACC source, how it works when turning off the engine with the device in use, 'll it wait until the battery voltage drops off below a specific amount to power off? Thanks
Yes as soon the voltage drops under specific value heater switches off, but the grip's internal circuit remains on for the next five minutes and keeps checking the voltage. In these five minutes, if the voltage jumps again to specific value the heaters will be turned on again, but if the voltage remains low, after five minutes are expired they switch OFF fully.
Very good review thank you, I have one question I noticed that where you cut a bit off it looked a bit rough from the cutting. any suggestions as to how to avoid this, please
Our technicians offer the grip up on the outside of the throttle tube, rather than slide it on, make a cut mark and use scissors to trip, the scissors produce a smoother finish. Keith, KSR Performance Motorcycles Ltd 👍
@@ronleon62 I bought them and they were not an easy install. The quality is so bad that you have to address that before you can install them. I had to do lots of small things which made this take longer than it should.
@@nitroneal4998 They are easy as anything if you have the right skills - installed 3 kits now over the years. If your not skilled/knowledgeable on fixing and repairing mechanical/electronics then yes this could be a hard install for you. Otherwise if you do, then these are easy as anything to install. It's all very subjective. The ones I used were the older style with a little control box that would normally mount on the bars. But I did a custom install as my V85TT. As they come fully wired up with a control button ready to go - but no grips installed. Comes from the factory like that so it's an easy fit OEM heated grips as an optional extra... So I spliced some Oxford grips into the Moto Guzzi system :D as they are cheaper and warmer. I modified mine to plug right into the Moto Guzzi heated grips wiring loom on the V85TT's. So that it comes up on the Moto Guzzi TFT and uses the inbuild Guzzi control button - Had to make my own little splice cable from Oxford grips to Moto Guzzi using the unused Oxford controller connectors and some Molex connecters (that the V85TT wiring harness uses) online to make it happen. And despite all of this, I still found it an easy install. Had it done within like 2hrs. So for you to find this hard using just the basic Oxford install is kind of funny to me.
Make sure the throttle side dry fits very loosely before attempting to glue it or you will like be buying a new throttle tube as well as a replacing throttle side Hot Grips. Very loosely as in there is no resistance at all on or off. Also maybe don't put the glue on before you slide it on, put it about 3/4 of the way up on the throttle tube. I am having to replace my throttle tube as well as the right side grip because it seized on 3/4 of the way up in less than 2 seconds.
@@polynoominen If you have a metal throttle tube, maybe. Otherwise no. The grips themselves are made to be hot and have overlapping plates along the length of the inside that shrink down to clamp on to whatever you are glue them to when the glue hits the plastic coating lining the inside of them..
I bought some Oxford heated grips, throttle side went on fine but the clutch side grip is now stuck and it won’t wiggle up any further or in fact come off, any ideas on how to get it in place?
Great informative video but raises some questions. What voltage level activates the cutout or is it just a voltage drop? I read somewhere that they remember the settings, does this mean that if they are left to autocutout they don’t need to be switched back on every time the bike is started? If so, will they come back on when I hook up my battery optimiser?😮

For anyone watching this video to install these, DO NOT USE THE SUPER GLUE! Buy and use Renthall Grip Glue. If you're going to use the super glue, use a small amount followed by a small spray of contact cleaner, and install them QUICKLY. Remove your throttle tube afterwards and clean the inside and outside edge of it of all remaining adhesive
The Clutch side grip should be able to peal off without cutting the original grips - the throttle side is bonded to the throttle tube. If you want to keep the original grip intact you should be able to purchase a new throttle tube online or from a Suzuki dealer.
Take the bar ends off, slide a flat bladed screwdriver between rubber grip & throttle tube, squirt some brake cleaner up the space next to the screwdriver & rotate the screwdriver around the throttle tube to break the seal. Pull the grip off. Easy.
Bro, you can turn them on, but after few seconds they switch off the heater and start flashing green which means they are switched OFF and waiting on correct voltage level to be switched ON again. This state lasts for 5 minutes, if voltage doesn't reach the required level they switch themselves OFF fully and led turns off too. That is at least how it is supposes to work and how mine work.
So, I just installed them on Honda CBF600 SA (2008) and trottle grip cannot be shoven all the way because there is an extra plastic edge which is covered by original grips, but not by Oxford Hot Grips Pro Tour.
