@@leeinwis yes. Cleaned it last week with Muc-Off and GT 85. Looks beautiful. A person thought it was brand new. It runs beautifully as well. Just dying to take it for a run.

My experience of New Triumphs not so good , complete new wiring harness with 1200 miles on clock .And oh the dealers in the south not good. My nephew wanted a Triumph ,told him not to go for a Thai made one, bought a 2013 Bonnie in the end .

One response to the reliability comment in the review. In the spring of 2001, I bought one of the first model year Bonnies. I just rolled over 100,000 miles (ua-cam.com/video/17O9Z1_oJ1Q/v-deo.html) and, other than replacing a clutch cable at about 80,000 miles, all I've had to do over that distance is replace consumables (oil, tires, break pads, chain). It has been a reliable daily commuter and recreational ride, even made the trip from Chicago to LA on old Route 66.

My bonnie SE has been my favourite bike. These are things that transformed it for me.
    Hagon rear shocks
    Triumph twin power remap
    Normah Hyde toga exhausts
Turns it into a completely different beast.

Not a fan of the way the alloy rims look, but they are lighter and make the bike handle better. Also no tubes to hassle with. I too prefer the spoked rims, but would take the alloys for practicality

    • @skymningforelsket1302

Spoked rims are much stronger, but on the street, I guess it wouldn't matter

Great piece! I’ve had mine since 2014, brand new. Together, we’ve travelled to the highest parts of our land and then some. Honestly though, we’ve only done about 24,000 kms in all these years and yet, she’s as much of a vision to me parked in my garage as on the first day. Wouldn’t trade up for anything. I’ve ridden a few other classics and nothing comes close to the 865 in terms of handling, sound (I switched to Arrows 2x2 out of the showroom) and outright predictability without all those fancy assistive features. It’s how motorcycling is meant to be - a little less coddling, a little more instinct.

You got it. Nobody needs a fuel gauge. That's just more parts to break and fiddle with. You'll know what fuel mileage your bike gets. Just look at the miles when you fill up, and keep on eye on the miles and fill up again when needed. You're also the only reviewer I've seen who likes the key on the side, which I also like

Good review. I’ve made a few changes to my ‘15 Newchurch model: “M” bars mounted high, bar-end mirrors, plain flat seat from a different model (a bit taller than stock SE), and Norman Hyde Toga’s (Commando style silencers). More comfy now-I’m no longer wind-beaten, and sounds really good. I’m perfectly happy with the air-cooled 865 bikes. I won’t be replacing mine with any of the new models-too many changes that I don’t like (electronics/technology, 270 crank, etc.). 👍🏻

Really enjoyed your review. I have just gone back to a bonneville 865 SE and I absolutely love it. Liked the passion you display for your bonneville, I feel the same about mine, I will never part with it. Big difference from the BMW but I have rediscovered the fun you can have on a motorcycle.

You did a great job with your editing. So clever. I still have my 2005 t100 after only 5 years and yep, I don't ride it as much as I'd like, but I like working on it and looking at it. Always something ud like to do to a bike. When you have time and the bucks. I'm always caught thinking about trade on a 1200, whether a Street Twin , or speedmaster or just a T120. But at 68, speed outta the corners isn't a huge concern. This will do 110 easy. That's fast enough. And if it takes another 2.5 seconds to get there, oh well. This bike came after having a vmax for 12 years. Speeds no longer a big deal. Thanks for the video, ride safe.

My dad has been riding Bonneville's since 1965, he can't ride anymore though. I ride his 2005. We didn't like the pea shooters it came with, we put on pipes similar to the ones in your video, they sound "Triumph", They are "Emgo's". I very much dislike the bend of the original handle bars, we replaced those with ones that have more of a bend back towards the rider. Those straight across bars reminded me of a dirt bike. I think the rear shocks on ours is adjustable. The rear suspension is definitely not "air ride" but it's the way Bonneville's have been for at least 50 years. The seat bothers me also. I would think after all this time, they would have came up with something a little more comfortable. Take it to the Isle of Man and hammer on it, I've always wanted to do that. Thanx for the vid.

Mentioning the kickstart... it’s a real tragedy they don’t make them like that anymore. The aftermarket and used market has that cornered. I am happy I’ve had the chance to kickstart a Harley big twin

Change the pipes, change the shocks, even add a steering damper if you ride fast enough. Great bike - I might be buying a T100 myself as a 2nd bike.

Have the 2011 SE model. Remapped ecu triumph twin power. Free flow exhausts. Fork upgrades, yss rear shocks goes great guns here in NZ. Can get 190 miles per tank full on a trip only. Otherwise 120 miles before fuel lamp comes on then about 6 litres left in the tank

exhaust sound is bad on the ears of some. it has its own charm. it is not necessary to have that 270 in all the parallel Twin. in the suspension segment, yeah, you are right, it is really bad. but rest is fantastic. I still have this.

Great stuff as always HH! Yet again the scenery and such just blows me away, we just don't have roads like those where I live. Can't BELIEVE that GoPRO 7 Hypersmooth, I watch that camera just bounce all over the place on the stalk and then when you switch to that angle it's so clean. Or is that the DJI cam?

Without a shadow of a doubt, the SE has the rev counter, not as you stated. That is not an SE that's just the Bonneville, but if you know how to ride you dont need a tachometer, or fuel gauge, as it has a light.

  • @vincedesmondo2212

just came across this vlog while looking for something else , not a bad vlog just a view odd bits , So yours is not a SE its a bonny mag wheel , the choke is a fast run for cold days as it is injection ,you got a 17" front wheel as has the SE which improves handling less hassle with spokes and rust and tubes , the SE has twin clocks and polished engine casings , for full performance get rid of the air injection .o2 sensors , like you say put on some shorter megs and a remap goes like a gooden also recommend a 1 tooth up on front sprocket and back shock upgrade with these mods it transforms the bike all the best * )

Mines 2009 . Built like a tank. Breathes and mapped. 100mph all day if required. I've done 40,000 miles . Not a single problem. Sounds a shitload better than yours tbh. Much more sturdy ( if lacking finesse) compared to now. You need a screen. The bike that wensleydale around the world was a Meriden bike. He probably had to rebuild it ten times lol. Mine did Slovenia and back , piece of piss

Hi, I’m not a subscriber (yet) only just found this post. As this is 4 years old, I’d be interested if you still own that bike or bought a new T100. I’ve just got an 05 with wire wheel (prefer alloys, easier cleaning) I hope to get a later one but before 2012 as I don’t want abs an all the other gadgets as I’m old school. Shame Triumph no longer fit centre stands as oe and the silencer still runs in front of the rear spindle.😖
