Summary (btw, video starts at 3.00):
    1- Training.
Mix up the type of training schedule you're following. Cardio, resistance, pilates etc. Take adequate rest. Challenge your body through progressive overload. Follow a good, set plan. Don't forget the importance of rest and recovery.
    2- Nutrition.
Be on a calorific deficit. Follow a sustainable diet. Go slow, eat little and often. Meal prep. Protein. Lots of veggies. Water. No processed foods. Carbs aren't the enemy.
    3- Love the process.

My goal is to get lean by spring break 2021 ✨✨ I’m making sure I give myself a lot of time and being forgiving of myself to make a sustainable routine for long lasting results. (No “get abs in 2 weeks” gibberish) Wish me luck!!!
Update: I have lost 15 pounds and have been really trying to eat right and it’s worked! I got discouraged in November but looking back at old pictures and seeing just a little bit of progress helps :) I wish you all the best of luck

I consider myself to be healthy, fit, etc as i workout everyday for years and I enjoy being active. However, I went on a cut and dropped a bunch of body fat and it was the first time I saw my abs and muscles pop but it also was a psycho obsessive mentally. All I thought about was food all day. Eating all my 5-6 meals of 300-400 calories never made me feel full compared to 3 solid calorie heavier meals. Counting all of my macros and hitting them made me obsessed everyday with food and numbers and what I’m eating. My question is when is it no longer obsessive because even the “maintenance” shows macros counting and obsessive traits. I question if that’s really a “lifestyle” or just obsessive after a while.

i couldn't agree more. that's why i gave up counting calories and focused in general balance in both working out and eating healthy. just trying to be active, stronger. have high volume food, etc. and it's much much better mentally and physically. 🙌🏽

In my opinion, your body is in calories deficit state so it’s natural that your brain is asking for more food (keep thinking about food). Be careful to lose weight or fat for aesthetic goal, keep your fat percentage in healthy range. About the obsessive behavior, I think it’s better to stop counting for a while. Even when you stop, you still can estimate how much you should eat comparing to your previous days.
Please remember that mental health is also important as physical health. Counting calories is not one size fits all.

Also such a relatable role model, sometimes it feels like all fitness gurus eat perfectly clean and exercise a million times a week so it’s nice to see that this is achievable when you have a job outside of health and nutrition.

YES! I agree completely with this. I used to cut calories really restrictively and then it would not only not be sustainable but it would also come back eventually the moment I started eating normally again (and by normally I mean pretty healthily, not a bad diet). Now I'm just eating healthy and I generally practice a mild/medium portion control, with a cheat day a week. My progress has been really slow, but I don't mind, because I just want to have a generally healthy lifestyle.
I'd be interested in a vid on recovery days, if you don't mind. How often should I have them? Also, does it have to be active recovery or just plain recovery? When do you choose one or the other?
Thank you for the vid, it was really informative and I'm happy to learn that I'm mostly following what you said at the moment, but that I can still improve in some areas.

Hi Lilly, great video! I do agree with everything you said, although for me regarding meal frequency I prefer to do less meals in bigger quantities, I have from 2 to 3 meals a day. It actually has been a revelation and I feel so much better now, I agree that this is a personal journey and everyone needs to found what works for them and listen to their bodies. With the 5 meals a day system sometimes It felt like an obligation and I wasn't enjoying the process, I decided to do less meals making sure I get all my macros and nutrition from them of course, and it's has given me a sensation of freedom that allowed me to start enjoying my process. I think is important to try things and found what works for you in the long run. I also want to add that I have started doing fasting I never thought it could feel this great, my whole relationship with food has changed completely, it's been a revelation, I was wondering what is your take on Intermittent fasting and if you have tried it yourself. Thank you for the great content!

Nothing has finally saved me from my sugarholic comfort food seeker than having 3 big meals a day, and with some extra protein on the side if I’m low on it. This has been the biggest life changing hack to me. Also there has been quite a lot of data showing that eating less often is better for your digestive system, and after a year of doing this I will say, I really feel soooo much better, and NEVER think about food!

M helllo!! Thanks so much for your comment and I really hope you enjoyed the video. The best way to track your calories is by using an app. After a while you’ll get used to what the correct (within reason) amount of food is for your body. I’m now at a stage we’re I don’t count cals but I listen to my body. I really hope that helps 🙏🏼🙏🏼

I know the focus of this video doesn't really address the injury part, but I have a question about that too. I actually found your instagram and youtube because of it. I'm usually a super active person, and this injury is making me feel stuck. Exactly 4 weeks ago, I had a very similar injury to yours. I ruptured my ACL, MCL, tore my lateral meniscus and fractured my fibula (which is exactly what happened to you from what I've read). Thing is, my surgeon advised it was best I do the surgery asap because my bucket handle meniscus tear could be repaired and cannot wait. Last week, I had surgery with the purpose of repairing my meniscus and reconstructing my acl. Unfortunately though, the repair took a long while, and while operatng they thought it was best to stitch my mcl and so they decided to postpone my acl reconstruction to a later time (4-6 weeks from then). So I'll be on crutches for quite a while, but thankfully I can bear full weight while it's fully extended. My question is.. How did you remain fit during that phase? How did you know your limits or if you were pushing it too far? Any piece of advice would really help!
Side note: your progress without surgery really uplifted my spirits. Thank you for doing what you do.

Hey beautiful. Thank you so much for the message.
First up I’m so so sorry to hear what you’ve been through. Your injury is nearly identical to mine and I know how much this can affect you physically, mentally, emotionally and everything in between. So I’m sending lots of strength your way.
The biggest lessons I have learnt throughout this process are. 1. Listen to your body 2. Trust the process- you WILL Heal and 3. Never give up.
In regards to staying fit during the early phases of my injury (obviously we are in slightly different positions)
Firstly, get yourself a great physio- they’re one of the most important members of your team, and ask them all the questions you have. They will guide you. My physio in London, Graham Burne was just amazing! I couldn’t recommend him more highly.
Secondly, train what you can. I did a lot of core and upper body training to keep my body moving and metabolism firing. Obviously this has to be pain free and cleared by your medic / physio.
Get yourself doing some form of cardio ASAP. Bare in mind, walking with crutches is cardio. It takes up so much energy to do the smallest things when you’re injured. So don’t push it too hard. Remember, when it comes to recovering from these injuries, slowly and steadily wins the race.
Last thing, mental strength! You WILL get through this and you will come out stronger. I’m here for you, any questions just ask. I’m just one comment away. Sending you loads of love xxxx

For people who get overwhelmed easily with planning their workouts, here's the best tip I can give you, pay attention to your mental and physical state and vary your workouts to that--do not say sun is this, mon is this because life gets the way or you may stress your muscle sout one day and you really should not just "stick to the plan" then. This variation prevents adaptation.

Thank you. Sitting down taking notes! Your physique is incredible and I’ll do anything you say to reach even a touch of your athleticism.
My turning point has been focusing on fibre and food that can quickly rot. No more processed stuff that doesn’t go out of date for weeks on end. It’s really transformed my energy levels and I know my microbiome is thanking me as I haven’t gotten sick in so long!
I think many of us who live sedentary are unaware of how far we can physically push ourselves and how everything is connected eg movement stimulates lymph fluid which stokes the immune system etc etc so health really does require a holistic approach.
Thanks for inspiring me Lilly. I do have one question though... I haven’t seen you lift really heavy weights, please correct me if I’m wrong as I’ve only followed you for about 7/8 months. Have you previously lifted heavy to build your muscle mass and can now maintain it with more lighter weights and body weight? I ask this because I workout at home and am finding it difficult to progress.
    Much love x

yay! so happy you are feeling better! I do have a question and would love your opinion on it. What do you think about intermittent fasting? I've implemented it lately and I really think it helps me stay close to a calorie deficit. But I eat small meals like you and don't want my metabolism to slow! xoxo

    • @LillySabri
      @LillySabri  5 років тому

Kristin Nagle hey Beautiful Kristin! Thank you so much for your message. I have to be completely honest with you, I’m not a fan of intermittent fasting at all. I know it works for a lot of people but here are my reasons as to why I’m not a fan. 1. I don’t think it’s sustainable, and I’m all about living a healthy happy lifestyle that is sustainable. 2. I hate putting restrictions on my myself 3. I think it creates unhealthy habits and 4. I have seen negative effects on some people around me who do it, with fainting, dizzy spells and problems with their blood sugar levels.
I’m sorry if that’s not what you wanted to hear but that’s just my opinion. Bare in mind that’s without looking at the scientific approach behind it, I’m just not a fan of it from a lifestyle point of view xx

Hey Lilly! Do I need 1 gram of protein per pound or kg of weight? I am getting conflicting information. And do I go off of my current weight or goal weight?

    • @magikyuu
      @magikyuu 3 роки тому +4

You should eat 1 gram of protein for every pound of lean body mass. Lean body mass is your muscle and bone mass, not fat. The easiest way to figure this out is to look up how to calculate lean body mass and look at pictures. It may not be exact but itll give you a start and get you in the ballpark of how much protein you should be eating. I know this is late but there you go.

My only thing is…..she’s always been very thin….like yes growing your Glutes is not easy and she has done a great job growing her Glutes and that is a lot of work. But it is hard for me to take her fat reduction advice when she hasn’t really had to lose much fat. Gaining muscle is a lot of work but it is so different from fat loss/maintenance. After heath complications in college I was extremely small for a period of time and had abs (didn’t have to try all that hard for all that long to get them) and then whatever was causing me to resist weight gain went away and I contracted sibo which caused a significant weight gain. I’m in a place where I only want to lose 10-12lbs (not much) and it is extremely hard….like I’ve been stuck at the weight I am rn for months and no matter what I do it doesn’t seem to budge. For me advice from naturally thin people isn’t helpful because I was that for a while….so I know being naturally thin is way way easier….
