I wish the interview could be longer, Prof is so insightful, I can go on and on listening. Thank you for bringing him to the show!
I am grateful that he agreed to come to the show too! Thanks for watching~
More Malaysian should watch this.
He is a more interesting guy than 99% of ppl know....read "Comet in Our Sky"....
We should make these kinds of interviews on mainstream media.
I shared on my FB so that more people can benefit
This is how a prime minister should talk in this country... Unfortunately, monkeys are leveraged..
People who lack quality do things to please the rakyat.
With Great Respect to Mr Jomo as Malaysian that wish to come back and serve our Country. With the Great Interview hopefully more and more Great Malaysians with follow your footsteps to serve our Wonderful Loving Mother Land. 🙏🏻🙏🙏🏼🙏🏾🙏🏿🌈
Part 2 and Part 3 please....so much more to pick from Dr Jomo verdent mind. Truly refreshing to hear from a home grown strategic intellect!
Wow.. just hearing from the man words and compassion.. we know he is very smart
A towering Malaysian. If only politicians listened to this man.
One of the most intelligent Guests that I have heard from. Thanks Frankie for arranging such an insightful interview :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Some countries are great at repressing the intellectuals
Appreciate the bold nature of Prof - stating it as he sees it. Insightful speaker, for those who care to listen.
All my respect to Dr Jomo and all his insight about the policies that can change Malaysia economic progress.
KS Jomo blew my mind. very deep insight & also bitter truth story told by him.
A wrongly managed privatisation would turn it into piratisation.
The collapse of the USSR prompted privatisation of former state enterprises by a select few who became the oligarchs. It was piracy. I absolutely favor a free market economy which fosters entrepreneurs, but simply transferring a state enterprise and its assets to private hands encourages cronyism.
So enlightening to hear & know a frank, straightforward, & transparent voice again. Thank you thank you!
the government policies till today are still chasing away local entrepreneurs and talents..
I look forward to a discussion between the Economy Minister and Prof Jomo. I reckon it's going to be a interesting showdown.
Economic minister can tap from the Prof's expertise as he is with Khazanah
A very important interview yet not shared by the local media, a great lessons the MPs, Aduns to clearn .
Been following Jomo's newsletter. Definitely a brilliant man, and can sense Frankie having a hard time following Jomo's contrarian views. Dont worry, happens to the best of us and its a great interview nonetheless!
I was quite nervous speaking to someone sitting on the council of eminent persons :p
Always improving. Keep doing the good work sirs.
where did you get that newsletter? must be an interesting topic
@@FAQShowAs a host you performed well. TQ
@FAQShow , should listen more than injecting your thoughts.. otherwise this interview is brilliant.
It's a great pity & loss that such a professional expertise and a good person was not give a good chance to contribute to Malaysia!!! What a huge shame.
He has his chance during PM7 tenure...sense anything?
Prof handle the whole conversation like a champ, really great sharing. More of him please.
Subscribed.
Thank you Prof for this interview. Looking forward to more.
Terima kasih untuk wawancara ini
Thank you for this great effort bro. Very insightful...
Please elect Prof Jomo, Prof Syed AlAttas and like as senators.🎉
He should give talks to PMX, and all policy makers.
No, they do not want peopke who are smarter than them.
Enlightening topics and appreciate the efforts to produce this kind of content. Thank you for sharing!
When a local wants to sustain a profitable business, the unseen forces want a share in it. So the option is to take the business to a favourable country.
100% absolute understand and agree with Prof Jomo. Welfare of the people cannot be marketed. Government leadership is paramount in national health and wealth.
Healthcare is very important.
Eg those milk, any kind of food must have less sugar, sodium salt added to it for a healthier Malaysian .. as I notice those ingredients especially sugar contents are very high and it’s very bad for our ppl..
He is amazing should be our country advisor in the govt department..
Malaysian should vote for him to be the P.M . You have a gem within your country. Don't always look for those who have an agenda for themself..❤ Singapore
Truly brilliant. No um, ah, apanama, or other expressions of uncertainty. An outlier of Malaysia.
I have actually pointed to PMX not to wait for FDI but to focus and expand local productivity.
insightful session. Interesting to hear from prof view.
I hope there'll be Part 2, 3 and so on. Thanks very much. I enjoyed watching this.
Nice and fruitful discussion. Probably, Prof's take on PADU and CBDC could be quite enlightening.
Very very very good insight
When he spoke on privatization, it brought me the question of how successful is our private education system. Do they actually deliver what they promise ? Some have majestic buildings for sure but when it comes to the substance of actual education, many are mediocre at best. Would be interesting if there was a no holds-barred discussion on this.
I agree as long as the people’s agenda is race and religion we will continue to go 2 steps forward 1 step back probably 3 steps back😅
I agree. We want progress
Thank you very insightful in our country's economy. We need more local investment in Malaysia.
Good information, good interview. Thank you.
Fantastic.. you should publish the uncut version of it..
Great insight into a man of high intellect! ❤
In Malaysia NOW ...
ALL FAILURES......Remembering In ,1971 Working in Johore Rm1eq to SG 1 Dollar...Go and Fly Kite.
@faqshow Good call getting Prof Jomo on. However, he was critiquing, not criticising, the government.
Prof shd have touched on higher education as how he found his undergraduate student in UM and what lacks among them to correct the weaknesses in the education system...
I love Dr. Jomo insights, i do hope he can co tonue to have more diacussion and influence on government decision on policies to do ghe right move for our economic
Should have been appointed as Minister.
Yes indeed as the wise saying goes, corruption will destroy any country and makes its citizens suffers. Comprehensive action must be implemented to study on human greed and control as a compulsory subject in schools and gov't administration and make transparent throughout the country
Ends with Padu but Jomo didn’t even get to talk about it sigh😢
Dulu Jadi Council Of Emminents Tun Langkawi,Ex Fin.Minister,Robert dll...Tak juga Improve Ekonomi.....
The problem sounds like cronyism and government intervention of bailouts. not privatization. Privatization can only be efficient under free market conditions where there is real free and fair competition. Every critic of privatization here to me is more of a critic of state cronyism and intervention (bailouts). The answer isnt more state control which will require a philosopher king like the late Lee Kuan Yew but smaller government, lower taxes and ACTUAL free markets. IMHO.
@Kitsune101, I am aligned with your thoughts. However, that's quite a tall order to implement based on a fluid democratic system without a long mandate. Case in point, China allowed free market economics to run in special economic zones before rolling it out country-wide after the system proved successful. But, they had centralized and absolute political control without seeking a mandate every 5 years where populist moves prevailed over long-term implementation and mostly painful gestation periods. If we had just continued with the GST system in Malaysia today, our tax base would have been broadened and collected double that of the SST.
@@JohnHuoVUCA Yea, same problem every democratic system have. I think the only way is to create a constitution that firstly MUST always protect individual rights and properties. And every law and policy must always be made with that in mind. And the first rule of individual rights must never be broken, ie, no new government can change this clause in the constitutions. Then you slowly start cutting the size of the government. Empower local government to make decisions by themselves, state only need to intervene if local is violating ppls property rights or stealing, etc. Smaller government will also mean less taxes needed = less project run by government (except for police and military) = less money stolen. That couple with a free market, let the ppl keep their production which will incentivize them to be more productive. Thats a start. Its certainly possible, but i do not see any political will. There first need to be a cultural shift by the citizens, if not politician have no reason to change.
My thoughts exactly. Privitisation only works when there are competition. What we & UK had was a privitised monopoly which obviously is not efficient. We should embrace free market and let it run its course.
Since 1970s, Malaysia damaged
Nnnn . 😮 yyy😢🎉 😢@@mahidonpromwichit3618 nnnnnnnn b😊😊😊
Much better interview than mrmoneytv
who has a PhD from Harvert University😮
Prof should go to Yang Bakar Menteri
Hi frankie, can we have every episode you record interviewing other people is upload as podcast like the mr money show? 😊
There is!! You can tune in to FAQ Show Podcast on Spotify: open.spotify.com/show/7GSsUPgk6Ns0qSE90ofayH?si=11b565f323514f34
You must have longer time, more scope of conversations.
It will be better if you asking about the progress of cooperative movement in our country, and the possibility of having that kind of economic machinery able to be manipulated well in order to elevate our PEOPLE ECONOMY and to eradicate poverty.
Moderator not doing enough homework.
Wants to show “he also knows things” #cringe
unfortunately I agreed, but i would say it’s hard to keep a calm mind in front of giant like Jomo
The moderator would be better if he read widely and deeply on economics issues - but is this really a fair expectation? I don’t even expect this from the MPs anymore
Those privatised institutions are monopolies. Monopolies by their nature are not efficient. Competition is the driver of efficiencies and hence beneficial to consumers.
Do like to share this video please.
It would seem that the quality of the government is similar to that of the national football team.... mediocre at best..
When there seems to be more concern for the "afterlife" rather than the "futurelife" of a nation, the trajectory of a nation's future is predictable.
He wrong it is not HSR for ECRM. Right on extreme high cost is too high.
Very awkward interview i must say. I lost count on how many NO NO uttered by Prof Jomo when the host try to make some statement (assumption).
Yes, a brat wanna make himself look smart #cringe
We have to create n develop our own product like Korea- Samsung, Japan-Toyota etc.
Yes. S Korea started their growth by supporting their companies with protective policies. We can start by nurturing and supporting current Malaysian companies, although not entirely via having a closed economy.
we have already.. mizrzan narina mokhzani mukriz 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Guys, with respect, realistically, where were all these experts' criticism when the Ringgit was loaing value since 1973 to its worst in November 2022 just before PMX Madani govt took over? Now suddenly (wtf) its PMX and his govt getting criticised. Get some IQ guys if believe all these "experts"
These experts r genuine experts not experts in inverted comas in the first place, u ignoramus. These experts had said a lot of things from way back but they all fell on deaf ears. I rmbr way back, Prof Jomo used to hv a olumnin the nst.
Prof is Tun M’s supporter
One dollar one vote rather than one country one vote.... 👍
Hope to hear discussion pn scepticism on PADU.
The Jedi master have spoken!😅
Jomo talked for Malaysia and Malaysian whereas the interviewer is clearly talking about and for the Klang Valley. Sadly successive governments starting from Mahatir including Anwar only rule for the Klang Valley. Until the government and opinion makers realise there is more to Malaysia than the Klang Valley and tap the potential, Malaysia will never achieve first world status. Successful nations like Japan, Taiwan, China have multiple centres of economic activities, vis a vis, Tokyo, Osaka and Taipei, Kaoshiung, etc. Any talk about Malaysia, economy, tourism, public transport, infrastructure development has only been about the Klang Valley. Until Malaysian and government of the Klang Valley realise that there is more to Malaysia than the Klang Valley, Malaysia will never achieve her potential.
🎉🎉🎉
Local entrepreneurs who eventually made it big also run a risk of being forced to 'sell' their businesses to some ppl.
Please do more interviews with Jomo - a whole series even
Pls invite Dr Arif too
Bless everyone I see you when I see you.. My details as per maybank account...

I highly recommend that the host enhances and refines the questions to be posed to the most eminent and distinguished guest.
👏👏👏👍
why the interview has some cut at certain points.
Enough of skyscrapers. Focus on the people and the infrastructure especially improving public education, public health and public transport.
His insight is par with the lste Lee Kuan Yew or the current Lee Hsien Loong.... had he made a PM of Malaysia ... today our country raking is among the top in the world ... i am not joking.
Only 😢😮😮😮😅😢🎉😂😂
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
👍
You should suggest to gomen the solution for low ringgit value
I agree on prgress but look on north east nope....
The North East was only used as an example.
Truly jedi, frenkie kena all the time 😂
49:58 😂 Master' response after hearing about PADU
Jedi Master "Jomo" !!!
Dr Jomo should be our PM
I think what happens to Malaysia if we simply ignore Mahathir. He has no post in the government.

Jemput horror story dari kekawan selain Melayu boleh?
Msia are in dire needs of leaders to snag High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) to epitomise the nation economic activities in the post C-19.
Msia is encumbered with an inherited debts goosebumps at RM1.5 trillion.
The Unity Govt's fiscal policy had commingled with the Capital Market, DDI and FDI to hassock the Govt liabilities.
The Msian financial ecosystem is solvent spearheaded by BNM and it will not become easily swayed by the Fed's action to hike the OPR which is currently at 5.5% and Msia's OPR stood at 3.0% which had spawned the Ringgit votality.
May Allah sbwt bless PMX to caper his Vision and Mission developing the nation and recapitulate the rakyat well-being.
Too much money or grants went to Bumiputra MELAYU companies than a Malaysian company
Funny to say that the BIBLE said don't let one hand know what each hand is doing.. So I known so much earlier than ecomomist.. Thats why we should APPLY THE AMERICAN CEV VERSION. as too many versioning... So no worries I know who will pay already.. I just waiting for people to SAY MY NAME, SAY MY NAME. mine no devil and also no details but simply apply the push and pull system. when I like i push, when I don't like I pull. SO no details necesary but simply using the POWER OF MY MIND... 🤔
Jedi ah? printing money behind my tv box.. malaysia all is rich no worries.. we pirate every god damnthing.. So all we can say is that fir now because i only say so much now.. Goldhill.. we are expert entrepreneur... Swiss bank here
Why are these wise individuals not governing?
Our economy minister can benefit from this but I reckon politics comes first....
😂😂😂Hello Master....it is easy said that done....
I wonder if your company you managed is so good..
