Because the churches in malaysia esplly necf didnt take the corporate responsibilty to uphold in continuos intercessory prayers for such type of rare christian leaders.good things dont happen so easily bcos of demonic and umgodly ideology and incompetent thinking hindering ... I also believe in GST...becos it is more transparent. LKY cried on the day Singapore was kicked out from Msia, and his determination had put Singapore in the top among the world now. The success is not just becos of his leadership but also the citizen of Singapore as a whole who are willing to put aside everything and move with his leadership.
Race is the main reason for the different outcome of that country vs surrounding region. It's cool to say all races are equally capable, but that's not real.
Racist comments by haters of the Malay race who walk around with the perception that they are the superior being in this region - isn’t that just like those living in that illegally occupied land in the middle east fantasing that it is their right to be there. What Malaysia can do to progress towards the level of advanced economies is to unite everyone under a common framework. Religion and race cannot be the framework because they divide people. The best framework is national identity, something that Singapore used and, it seems, more recently also Indonesia. Thailand has had its own national identity for a very long time.
Malaysia wil never become like Singapore unless it has the racial power dynamics of Singapore. It's unrealisitic as pilipinos expecting their country to be like Korea or Indonesia expecting to be the next China

Father of my friend went to a Convent school in Sarawak back in the 70's. Apparently a top school in the town. None of the Chinese students (majority in the school) received any government scholarships. One Malay was offered a scholarship to the USA. He rejected it 'cos it's not his choice of study. Many Chinese eventually went OS on parental scholarships. Many never return.

Our country already suffering from political cancers since Mahathir became the PM who has buried all the good values of most of the Malaysians and replacing them with cronyism, greed for power and money, good education systems laid down by the British was replaced with instant noodle education, today the country has to pay for the huge price.
The restraint of coming out into the mainstream esp under public service is the religious extremists. While he was a minister, the then PM had to ask him to appear less in the mainstream due to pressures from these extremists. It's also one of the reason why he was not called back to revive MAS due to his faith background. Msia has tonnes of talents and many are not allowed to hold high office due to their faith and race background. Msia really need a very good leader who can balance the trade-off.
