Man this is such a great video. It's so nice that teaching pitch accent is becoming common. This video was well paced with no fluff, multiple examples with native speech, and clear visuals. Pitch accent is very approachable now.
This video is pure gold, I cannot add anything to what's been said already in other comments, it's extremely well done and so clear. Thank you for your hard work, we're very fortunate to have access to your content and count on your teachings to approach your beautiful language 🙏❤️🙇 I wish you all the best, thank you so so much!!
Thank you for this. When I lived in China back in 2015 I was told I must take care with using pitch while there. A year after I arrived in Japan but wasn't really aware of the importance of pitch here, so thank you for your series of videos, they're helping me in daily interactions. I wonder which verb Kuro likes the best...
The Chinese tone is much more important in conveying the meaning than the Japanese pitch, but, yes, pitch is important in speaking Japanese 😁 I guess Kuro loves the word “to hunt” and “to eat” ...🤔 Thank you for your comment!!
Once my history exam is done with next month, I'm definitely going to be using your videos to help me more with my Japanese studies. You're very calming, which is great if I start to feel stressed by not fully understanding something. Thank you for your videos! I'm looking forward to studying Japanese much more 🙂
Ohayo gozaimasu! This lesson covers something always confusing to me, since I commit this error constantly. Thanks for the explanation! Arigato gozaimasu, mata! 🤙🤓
I found it was confusing to differentiate pitch accent until I found this. I like how u compared the different pitch accents at the same time. That really helped me in differentiating the pitch accents.
I really thank you to showing Japanese verbs' transforms to enable to have comfortable mind in advance when someday studying Japanese deeply. Plus i learned ! ⬅️this one in english from humi teacher too.
truly, thank you, thank you, thank you. it is difficult to find lessons on the accents of the Japanese language. I'm glad I came across you. Greetings from Croatia. Love you.
@@SpeakJapaneseNaturally はい、ちょうどいいです。ふみ先生は時間があれば、そういうビデオを作ってください。時間がない場合は、大丈夫です。ありがとうございます。 I know my Japanese is not perfect, but it was the first time I wrote anything in full Japanese. Please excuse me if I made many mistakes or if I sounded rude 😅. Thank you so much for what you do!
Thank you so much for this video, Fumi-san! Are there more patterns of pitch accent in conjugation? That is, for words accented not on the 2nd-to-last mora?
I came across the verb 従える which I've heard being pronounced with a なかだか accent, however in the て form it was pronounced with the へいばん pattern, does anyone know why?

I swear, I'm gonna get to a point where I'd introduce myself with such an amazing level of pitch accent that no one would be able to tell I wasn't a native... until I say my next sentence when they realize my vocabulary and sentence structure are about as good as a 2 year old's. Like, I understand the differences between the T sounds between English and Japanese, I feel Very confident in my R sounds, and am pretty good at picking up different pronunciations of ん, but I can't understand most basic sentences, what the hell is wrong with me?
Nothing wrong with you.! That’s pretty normal. You need to learn not only sounds but also grammar and vocabulary!! Language learning is a long journey, but I hope it will be a pleasant one for you✨

Thank you for saying that 😊✨
Thank you very much for your very helpful and informative video. You are awesome. :)
Glad it was helpful! Thank you 😊👍

Can you make a video about how pitch changes at the sentence level? Are there any rules for that?
That's intonation and I'm thinking to make a video about that.
It'll take a while, but I will make one

Hello, what would the pitch accent be for the "な” form? Such as 食べるな or いくな
are all of these constant? no exceptions?
What would the pitch of 食べなかった be? My first guess is the pitch falls after べ but it doesn't feel right.
You're right. L-H-L-L-L-L 👍😄
I came across the verb 従える which I've heard being pronounced with a なかだか accent, however in the て form it was pronounced with the へいばん pattern, does anyone know why?
したがえるis heiban in standard Japanese. The accent changes according to its conjunction form.
Hi 🙋♂️ 🇯🇵 Japanese unnie I’m com back because my exam is going on

Basically, yes
High level
I will be very careful if I ever try to buy a basset hound from a Japanese dog owner.....
Yes, you have to be careful..., but why basset hound??
@@SpeakJapaneseNaturally I like them...but I should have said an "akita"..lol
Sorry, I thought there was a hidden meaning or something 😂
@@SpeakJapaneseNaturally All in fun. I guess Japanese might be a "tonal" language after all, in a small way.
Precisely, it’s not, but it’s kind of like it
